Hot fling or real thing? There are no Big Easy answers in New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Erin Nicholas’s sultry series.

As far as flings go, single dad Gabe Trahan is pretty sure that Addison Sloan is his best bet. Once a month, Addison comes to New Orleans and then…It. Is. On. Until Addison returns to New York, it’s just hot, happily-no-strings-attached sex. And beignets. And jazz. But lately for Gabe, it isn’t nearly enough.

Sure, maybe Addison’s gotten a bit hooked on Gabe. After all, who can resist a guy who’s so sexy, so charming, and so… available? But maybe he’s too available for her right now. Addison’s just moved to New Orleans, and relationships are definitely off the table. Besides, guys always bail when they learn her secret: she’s a single mom.

Only Gabe’s not running. Worse, he’s thrilled. But Addison never signed up for ever-after romance, and Gabe won’t settle for anything less. Now it’s a battle of wills — and when it comes to the woman he’s falling for, Gabe isn’t above playing a little dirty.

going down easy erin nicholas

Going Down Easy is book one in the brand new series, Boys of the Big Easy, by Erin Nicholas. Prepare to fall in love with Gabe, one of two brothers that own their own bar in New Orleans.

Gabe Trahan was smitten with Addison Sloan the first time she walked into his and his brother, Logan’s bar. She went home with him that night and spent the rest of the weekend with him. Then she went home to New York where she was a restoration architect. She had been in New Orleans that weekend consulting with a local firm. Then, one month later, she walked in again. For six months, one weekend a month Addison would walk in to Gabe’s bar. They would spend the weekend having mind blowing sex, and touring the city of New Orleans. Addison loved everything to do with his city.

Addison was finding it harder and harder to say good-bye to Gabe at the end of their weekends. Which was a huge red flag to her. She didn’t want a relationship. She had a busy career and a five year old daughter to raise. So when the firm that she had been consulting with in New Orleans offered her a full time job, she jumped at it to move to the city she had fallen in love with. But she knew that she would have to end things with Gabe.

“Gabe Trahan was the kind of guy that hearts just went a little nuts over. He was funny and sexy and sweet and dirty and confident and charming and gorgeous.”

sexiness

Gabe was finding himself thinking of Addison constantly between her visits. When he found out she had moved to New Orleans, he was all in. He wanted more from her. She thought he would run for the hills when she told him she had a daughter. But his reaction was just the opposite. He was thrilled, because he also had a child, a five year old son named Cooper. He always wanted to have more children.

sexy on the washing machine

These two couldn’t have been more different in so many ways. Addison let her adventurous daughter experience life independently, always knowing her Mom was nearby if she needed her help. She wasn’t a very demonstrative woman and was determined to raise her daughter on her own, by her own rules, not allowing anyone else to have any input in her decisions. Gabe’s son Cooper was very cautious and Gabe tended to be a bit protective of him as a result. Gabe was always touching people, hugging them, showing affection. His easy way was so evident in the way he was with little Cooper. Gabe’s mother and brother helped him to raise his son and Gabe also attended a weekly single parents meeting which gave him a huge support system.

When Addison tries to end things with Gabe, he’s not taking no for an answer. But he will be patient. He finds ways to let her see on her own that allowing he and his son into their lives could work.

I want to stop here and tell you that first, you are going to fall in love with Gabe. He was so sexy and when he was together with Addison, they burned up the pages. They were hot! He had the dirtiest mouth! You are also going to love these two kids. Little Cooper was so precious and Stella was the most adorable little girl. It took me a little longer to warm up to Addison. At first, I didn’t like the way she tried to be so independent. Even though I understood the reasons why. What I really loved, though, was the influence they had on each other. Gabe showed Addison that it was okay to give up a little bit of the responsibility, of the control. To let others in. Little Cooper was so cautious and Stella helped him to be brave.

little boy and girl holding hands

This was such a feel good, sexy, sweet story and I really enjoyed it. I absolutely loved the ending. I don’t know who the next book will be about but I’m definitely hoping it will be about Gabe’s brother, Logan.

4 Not Too Hot to be Real Stars
* * * * Spoiler Free
Sometimes we want to live in a bubble. We have an opportunity to just experience the moments, enjoy the freedom we don't have in Real Life... and go for it. When a circumstance happens that fits perfectly to dip into this fantasy world, you grab it with both hands.

Then this little bubble, this perfect time you keep carving out for yourself becomes a bit more...more real and more addictive. You give yourself a talking to... You have the chance to advance your career. It will bring you to the same place you had been having that bubble perfect existence...so you make the hard choice. You will stay away from what gave you so much pleasure.

This is what Addison Sloan had to deal with.
She had business in New Orleans and found herself in Gabe Trahan's bar. These two hit it off and bam...the chemistry was right, the connection worked and both were not looking for any relationships. What was at first just a hook up with no guilt, soon became a monthly visit where, yes, sex was happening and oh, so good.... but there was visiting restaurants, hot spots and just casual good times.

The good times were so good...Gabe wanted more and when he finds out Addison is living in town, he decides to figure out a way to make Addison see how right they both are.

I cannot believe this is my first Erin Nicholas read! She has a full library of work and this is a series all about brothers and New Orleans. I look forward to the next entry.

This was a stone-cold disaster. Unfortunately, the nonsense was consecutive so I kept thinking "once I'm past this bit, it'll even out; because it has to even out soon, right?" It didn't even out.

The first piece of nonsense was all the sex in the world. Gabe and Addison are having great sex, talking about great sex, planning for great sex and it is non-stop. Their entire relationship is based on having sex, as kinky and frequently as possible.

And then Addison moves to where he lives and she's all "he'll learn I have a kid and it'll be over. Yay!" (There's a professional conflict that isn't ever taken seriously and completely disappears for no reason shortly after this part so the yay was completely stupid). And Gabe is all like "we can have more sex and also combine our households because I have a kid too!" So he's already on the "let's do the relationship thang, baby!" train and Addison is all reluctant, for the perfectly valid reason that they don't really know each other (I mean, duh, they didn't even know they both had kids). Gabe bulls through that by manipulation using his single parents support group as relationship proxy so they get to know one another. Sort of.

And then there's a brief idyll where they are almost normal people and my hopes this book wouldn't suck were tragically raised. I really liked the kids even if their adults were super horny idiots, mostly. Okay, fine, there's some good/interesting parenting in there, too. Only that was a charade, too, because then...

The book has a bit over an hour left and I'm all "cool, we have kid trauma and that'll let me see how they do combined parenting and we'll ease into the ending and it'll be a weak three stars. I can live with that." Psych! Instead of some reasonable parenting, we have Gabe pull a dark moment that is equal parts self-loathing and toddler-level justification and I coasted to the end on fumes of fury. And Addison during this part? Yeah, she got stupid, too, and not only bought his idiocy, and underscored it, but fed into it further so we have the adults having conversations where I'm all "what the crap are they going on about?!? This is some of the dumbest interaction I've ever read." Which it probably wasn't (the dumbest I mean) but it's certainly a contender.

I'm pretty sure that the narration by Ryan West is a big part of why I made it through this. His smooth baritone that goes scratchy and lightly drawly with Gabe held me enthralled. Seriously, that voice is liquid gold as far as I'm concerned. But it isn't enough for me to rate this higher than the one star it deserves.

A note about Crude: Yeah, there's lots of sex but even more talking about it. And all the talking is dirty talking and all the thinking about it is as crude as it could be without dropping into farce. That largely disappears in the end as the kids take over more of the story, but it's quite strong for at least half of the novel.

A note about Steamy: I honestly have no idea how many sex scenes there were because it seemed the first half of this story is all sex all the time. When they aren't at it, they're talking about it or planning it or anticipating it. It blew past my steam tolerance and my only excuse for not putting it off as straight-up erotica is that eventually the single parenting had to kick in and mellow things out. Which it did. Fortunately.

GOING DOWN EASY (Boys of the Big Easy #1) by Erin Nicholas is such a fantastic start to this new series! This contemporary romance is super sexy and hot, but it also has so much heartfelt emotion. If you are or have been a single parent, there will definitely to be situations you will relate to.

Gabe Trahan is a sexy, single dad who looks forward to his once a month fling with the visiting Addison, a restoration architect from New York City. Addison loves everything about New Orleans including her no-strings-attached once a month weekend fling with Gabe. Besides the best sex ever, Gabe sees his beloved city through new eyes and Addison gets a native son who knows all the best spots for beignets, pralines and jazz.

Suddenly though, Gabe decides he wants more. But what can happen with Addison in NY. He does not even know about her personal life except for her name and job. What Addison has not told Gabe is that she has accepted a job in New Orleans. As much as she is addicted to their weekends, she is not interested in a relationship and even if she was, the minute men find out she is a single mom they all take-off.

Gabe is not taking-off. He will do anything to convince Addison that he is not like her ex and could not be happier about Addison being a single parent like himself. Gabe wants to join their family lives and he is willing to do anything to make Addison believe that she can trust him with herself and her daughter’s futures. Addison does not give up control easily, but this sexy single dad is showing her another way of parenting and love.

I loved everything about this romance! Gabe and Addison are extremely hot as a couple and so caring as parents. Ms. Nicholas does a great job of writing about differing styles of parenting without one type being better than the other. The single parents group adds other interesting adults to the story and I hope to see them in more stories in this series. Gabe’s son and Addison’s daughter are not just added placeholder characters, but integral characters to the story’s plot. Ms. Nicholas writes very hot and explicit sex scenes. The fun sex scenes were the ones that started, but never finished until the end of the story in the laundry room. I believe all parents will be able to relate to those.

I am so glad this is the start of a series and I will be able to read even more about the boys of the Big Easy in the future. I cannot recommend this book enough!
Thanks very much to Montlake Romance and Net Galley for allowing me to read this eARC.

I was completely CAPTIVATED from the moment I cracked open Erin Nicholas’ Going Down Easy and I did not put it down until I finished. This couple have a once a month weekend affair and then she returns to New York and he goes on with his life in New Orleans until one day he decides to send her flowers at the local office where she is consulting and follows it up with an in person meeting and finds out some truly interesting information that leads to a crazy, emotional journey between the two of them AND their two five year old children. I am so enamored with this couple and their story, not to mention their precious children. Smart, funny, sexy, sweet, and filled with so many wonderful moments, I loved Going Down Easy.

Gabe and Addison seem like complete opposites; he lives life fully and by the seat of his pants and she likes order and rules, but in bed they are perfectly matched and out of bed they complement one another. I did get a bit frustrated with Addison trying to use her daughter as a reason to not pursue a relationship with Gabe, but I also understood where she was coming from. Gabe was patient and kind and kept showing Addison what she was missing and when he added in his son Cooper she was sunk, but the feeling was mutual because Stella captured his heart from the start. I loved the way Cooper and Stella interacted and how quick they formed a friendship.

The single parents group offered up insight and advice for these two and became a sounding board for both of them. Gabe’s family welcomed Addison and Stella with open arms making their move to New Orleans easier.

While it wasn’t always easy and both the adults made some mistakes along the way, the feelings and love were easy to see and the relationship between the adults and their children was magical.

I read Going Down Easy during a bit of a difficult time in my life and Erin Nicholas managed to transport me out of my life and into the lives of this couple and the city of New Orleans and I can’t thank her enough for this bit of respite from the real world when I needed it the most.

"I love you, Addison Sloan," he told her gruffly. "I think I've loved you from the first time you had powdered sugar on your chin."
She laughed, then moaned as he plucked her nipple and kissed her neck. "I love you, too, Gabe Trahan. Probably from the first time you let me hand you a wet wipe to wipe the powdered sugar off your chin."
He lifted his head. "We're perfect for each other, obviously."
"Obviously."

This was cute, it was better than I anticipated actually. The audio version came with it on KU, so I listened to it over the past few days while I've been sick and not in the mood to keep my eyes open to read, it was a nice change of pace. The only thing I didn't like about the audio version is that the narrator's "girl voice" got annoying after a while. It was too whispery, like that was the only way he could get his voice high enough to resemble a woman's. I thought it made Addison sound weak, almost timid, at some points, and that didn't match with her personality, for the most part.

Her heart expanded so quickly at the sight of him with their children on either side, looking tired and turned on and gorgeous and in love with her. In love with her. That's what she was seeing in his eyes, and she knew she wanted to see that for the rest of her life.

The actual story was good though, fluffy and a little funny. It was sweet, but with enough dirty talk thrown in that it didn't fall into "cavity-inducing-sweetness" territory. I liked Gabe and Addison together. There was a few times I thought Gabe was going to turn into an asshole and a time or two when it looked like Addison was leaning towards being a know-it-all, but they both came back around.

She paused to listen again. She played with the end of the dog's tail as she held the phone to her ear, the thing big in her tiny hand. She was nodding along with whatever Addison was saying. Then she smiled.
And Gabe's heart turned over.
God, he was fully, officially, completely in love. With Addison. With Stella. With having both of them in his life. And in Cooper's life. This was good. It was so, so, so good.

Honestly, it was a solid read and I would have rated it higher if it wasn't for the constant "parenting discussions." Internal dialogue, actual dialogue, group conversations, conversations between Gabe and Addison, about how hard it is being a parent, am I a good parent, can I be a better parent, on and on it went. It just got tedious. Maybe because I don't have kids so I can't relate to the absolute constant concern of being a parent. Regardless, I could have done with less of it, but it was still a good story and I already picked up book 2.

Instead, he found himself wondering if he should send flowers over to the office where she was today. That would be okay. It wasn't like he was sending flowers to her home or something. That would be too personal. And he wouldn't write anything sweet or romantic on the card. These would be thanks-for-the-two-blow-jobs flowers. Or you-do-cowgirl-better-than-anyone-I've-ever-met flowers.
"Hey, you okay?" Logan asked.
Gabe realized he'd zoned out. Thinking about sending Addison flowers. And not your-ass-fits-perfectly-in-my-hands flowers. More like I-already-miss-you flowers.
He could not send her I-already-miss-you flowers. Damn, he needed to get his shit together.

~

So she might have gotten a little addicted to the sex and the fun. So her heart might have gotten a little involved. Gabe Trahan was the kind of guy that hearts just went a little nuts over. He was funny and sexy and sweet and dirty and confident and charming and gorgeous. She wasn't dead or stupid. Of course she had a little thing for him that went beyond lust.
But-and this was a very important but-she didn't want anything more than sex from him. Well, okay, sex and beignets. And jazz. But just those things. Just those fun, harmless, no-big-deal things.

~

"We're going to have sex in the back seat on the way to the party?" he asked, picking up his pace.
"I figured this was a great way to sneak in a quickie with no kids around," she told him. She stopped by the car door that the driver had opened for her. "We're going to have to figure out ways to do stuff like that going forward, right?"
He focused on her fully, seemingly studying her face for something. Then he nodded. "Yes. Because we're going forward."
She went up on tiptoe and kissed him on the cheek. "Yes, we are," she said softly.

It was pretty good. The kids were very cute. But do 5 years old really talk like that? They seemed much older.

The MCs had their issues but nothing too over the top. The heroine came around much easier than I expected. And I was glad she did not cause needless drama.

I went from ragey to smiling while reading this. I almost put it down because my animosity for Addison was unprecedented for a heroine and not a side character. She seemed cold, unyielding and self-centered. What she was planning on doing to Gabe was so crappy. To just disappear and leave him hanging, knowing that they both had feeling for each other?? It was irrelevant if they WANTED to have feelings for each other because they did. Her internal dialogue and rationalization around kids and marriage was so awful. She seemed resentful of her kid and her perceived "obstacles" were ridiculous.
I decided to hang in there and skip some of her pages so I didn't throw my kindle across the room and low and behold, Addison had a complete 180 attitude change. She saw the error of her ways and gave Gabe and Cooper a chance.
This series is actually about the trials of single parenthood and "it takes a village" vs doing it all on your own. If you can get past Addison's bad attitude in the beginning, it ends up being a lovely story!

Sorry, not a fan --- especially if she felt like her "dirty" secret was that she's a single mom. Why is that something to hide??? Why couldn't she tell him?! It's not like having a child makes you an unattractive person. SMH. I don't get it. I'm sorry. But I couldn't fall in love with the heroine. The hero wasn't that hot, imo, either.

I struggled with a lot here. Addison tells Gabe no. More than once. And Gabe still continues to pursue her because "he can see she's scared". Do I agree they were good together, and she was scared and needed to get past that? Yes. But Gabe was manipulative (inviting her to the parents support group with pralines) and unfair. Then, just when she's comfortable with the relationship, he has a freak out and pushes her away. I was amazed she went back to him.

The kids were cute, perfect opposites of each other. Some of their scenes were very funny and they came to care for each other so well. They was very sweet. The kids had a better handle on managing relationships than the adults did.

This book was fantastic!!

It felt different from anything I’ve read from Erin Nicholas before but still felt true to her storytelling. The pacing was great and don’t even get me started on the character development!!

Gabe was SO alpha but in a unique and refreshing way. I wish that more authors would write heroes like Gabe. He was so damn sure of wanting more with Addison and he was even more confident that it was going to happen and he didn’t hide it from anyone. At the same time he never tried to forced Addison into feeling or moving forward with anything until he knew that it was her decision. Addison was the perfect yin to his yang.

I loved how big of a role their kids played in this story too. Too often kids are written in as a sort of afterthought to the romance or just as an obstacle to the couples HEA. This was NOT the case here. Both kids were a very integral part to the growth of Addison and Gabe as individuals and as a couple. Their opposing parenting styles offered an even greater insight to who they were and the ways they still struggled with life, live and growth. There was some aspects of this book that really hit me in a way I wasn’t expecting and made me examine my own parenting style and forced me to feel ways I never expected to when I started this book.

This was a spectacular introduction to this series and certainly did a great job piquing my interest in the other characters. I can’t wait for more!!

Tldr: nah bad hero
I just wanted something light and fluffy after my drama laden last read and I loooove NOLA. But wow hero is like a psycho. And a jerk. He all but pisses on her leg making very clear insinuations in front of her brand new boss that they slept together and emphasizing that she was the reason they decided to go with the architecture firm, either ignoring or not caring the implication that she slept with him FOR the contract. She tries to break it off with him and he goes straight to she must be cheating on another dude with him. When she explains that she has a kid he immediately starts talking about how he's always wanted more kids and maybe jokingly maybe not proposing and deciding that they and the kids should all have dinner that night even though it's repeatedly noted that they barely know each other. When she says she's not interested in that (and has never indicated prior to this that she would be) his response is "want to explain how come you keep..spreading your legs for me" but don't want our kids to meet. To go straight from a once a month fling to lets introduce our kids is crazy. But his disgusting reaction to her incredibly polite rejection to turn it into more is really disturbing to me. Dnf

Gabe and Addison have a good thing going in the Big Easy. She's in town for one weekend a month, and he puts his real life on hold to spend that one weekend with her.

Only, it's getting harder and harder to let her go on Monday morning, knowing there are no plans to see one another again, no plans to allow one another into their real lives. And, as this also allows both of them to avoid those real life complications, it works for both of them...or so they tell themselves.

Until Addison moves to New Orleans, and doesn't plan to tell Gabe, because her life is complicated and there's a deal breaker, or so she thinks, and she is afraid to face the idea that what works so well for them on the one weekend per month they see each other may not work on a permanent basis...and she is afraid of getting her heart broken.

We've all been where she is, hiding from something that could be real, and probably already is, because we are afraid of taking the risk and getting our hearts broken in the process. Addison is ready to walk away. The problem, is that Gabe is tenacious and he is going to follow her. He is going to be where she is, and he is going to show her that he fits into her life in NOLA and that instead of complicating it, he makes it whole.

It takes her a bit to get there, and the break up part of the book is in the middle, which I enjoyed. The reader isn't really a part of their weekends in New Orleans, so in order for the emotional investment of the story to work, this is treated almost like a second chance, with a couple of characters with a scorching chemistry and a history...but one that they are having to build from the beginning with a new set of circumstances.

It was a fun read, I enjoyed this title, and I am looking forward to the others in the series!

I love Erin Nicholas and was excited about this story in NOLA. I like these characters and their children. I found the children and the parenting aspects to be excellent and fun to read. Addison and Gabe were nice but with their own little flaws.

The part I didn't like was other than the wonderful single parent group, their time without children seemed to be all sex. I like sex as much as anybody, probably more, but I need adult dialogue just as much with stuff about their jobs or friends / family or other activities.. And I don't need sex in every chapter.

This was my first narration by Ryan West. I listened at 1.5x speed and was comfortable with his voices.

Sexy, sweet, fun, heartwarming and very realistic romantic journey filled with hard choices, loving family and loyal friends.... could not get enough of the thrilling adventure and look forward to visiting again.

Gabe Trahan is charming, sexy, fun loving and a deeply caring father (just adored him) Addison Sloan is a sexy, smart, fun and fearlessly independent single mom doing it all on her own... until Gabe. Loved every witty banter filled struggle and eye opening revelation. Highly entertaining reading.

Going Down Easy captivated me from the first page! I ADORED Gabe Trahan the romantic, smooth talking, charming hero. Addison Sloan and Gabe spend one weekend a month together in Gabe’s home town of New Orleans. Their chemistry sizzles from day one. They have sex, eat beignets and listen to jazz and have more sex. They don’t talk to each other between visits and really don’t know that much about each other. Gabe realizes that saying goodbye to Addison is getting harder – and that maybe, just maybe, he is falling for her.

Gabe and his brother Logan have hired Monroe & LeBlanc, an architectural firm to restore Trahan’s, their family tavern. They arrive at the firm for a meeting and Gabe sees Addison in the hallway. Gabe is surprised to learn that Addison has been hired by the firm. And even more surprised to learn that she wants to end their relationship. Addison believes she has the perfect way to send Gabe running—she has a 5 year old daughter. Gabe is thrilled because he has a 5 year old son! I laughed so hard because I could hear the happiness in Gabe’s voice and see the frightened, stunned look on Addison’s face!

I loved Gabe’s determination to win Addison. He wants a happily ever after with Addison. He sends her a basket of pralines and includes an invitation to a single parent support group meeting. Addison is surprised when Gabe enters the room. I loved Gabe’s heartfelt confession to the group and how Addison took it in. Everyone in the room knew Gabe was seeing someone and offered him advice on how to get her back. This scene was well written and I knew, despite what she verbalized, Addison had strong feelings for Gabe.

Erin Nicholas balances Addison and Gabe’s sexy times with the demands and pressures of being a single parent. Addison is raising Stella on her own. She has more of a hands off approach and encourages Stella to try new things. Gabe has entire support system help him raise his son Cooper. He lives with his mom and brother and everyone pitches in for Cooper. Through the parent support group the theme of what makes a good parent is explored. I loved the scene when Cooper snuggled up to Addison at the support group family night and when Stella explained to Addison why she wants to buy Cooper a flashlight. Both scenes were perfectly written and important to the storyline on multiple levels. In my opinion, this storyline choice moves the novel from a good to an excellent read.

Going Down Easy is a sensuous, emotional story infused with love and family. Erin Nicholas successfully blends challenging social concerns with a romantic love story. The fun, fresh honest dialogue and the supporting characters are relatable and add depth to this opposites attract romance. I liked that there were several unexpected plot twists that challenged Gabe and Addison. The conclusion was perfect full of love and surprises!

If you enjoy authors Laura Trentham Debbie Mason and Samantha Chase—you will adore this book! Gabe is my kind of hero—a bigger than life, charming man with blue eyes who does the laundry!

Addison and Gabe have been involved in a long distance relationship for several months. Once a month she flies down to New Orleans from New York. She spends all of her free time with Gabe. Things are very simple with them as they are both single parents (not revealed up front) and live in different states. Everything changes when Addison takes a career opportunity restore old homes with the New Orleans branch of her firm. Now they must find a way to navigate a relationship when they are in the same city.

The beginning of the book stalled for me for several reasons. First, we (the readers) are thrown right into their relationship. Of course, the blurb indicates that the hero and heroine are in some sort of relationship. I just expected to be able to warm up to them. The heroine is immediately trying to break things off with the hero. He is way more invested in the relationship with her but outside of the physical I didn’t understand how he became so emotionally involved.

Addison is very cold and it takes more than half of the book for me to warm up to her. She is very organized and straightforward to the point that I had wondered how could she attract a man like Gabe. She does everything in her power to avoid Gabe now that she is living in New Orleans. She doesn’t want their children to meet. She refuses to meet his son. She is slightly resentful of being a mom which causes conflict with Gabe initially. However, he is so smitten with her that he is determined to win her over.

He invites Addison to his single parents club. He hopes by showing her how other single parents get along, she will be willing to give them a chance. Eventually, the members of the group start to chisel away at her and she is excited to be a part of something. She decides to give her relationship with Gabe a chance.

The development of their relationship alongside the story of their kids added a different dynamic to this story. I’m not the biggest fan of children in my romances when they take up so much space. Honestly, there is no real conflict except at the end and that felt forced at best. It might be due to the fact the author uses the children as a part of it.

There are a great set of secondary characters. I’m curious to read more about them.

I’ve been going back and forth between 3.5 and 4 stars for this one. I couldn’t stand Addison in the beginning, she had such a bad attitude and seemed VERY resentful about being a mom. Wanting alone time and downright pushing your kid away are two very different things, and I feel like the h was very much in the pushing away territory.
However idk why these thoughts were even included because she chills out later in the book and is fine and I actually ended up liking her a little more than the hero. The H was my favorite in the beginning, the way he pursued the h and was rooting for them and eating to get their kids together made me love him. however when he pushes away the h and her daughter towards the end I started to dislike him. He really pissed me off the way he did it and didn’t even apologize. So him and the h actually switched roles.
Other than both of the mcs having their pushing away moments, I enjoyed this book! I loved the scenes with the kids, they were so cute!! I just especially loved cooper and it was so cute how Stella took care of him!

Review: GOING DOWN EASY (Boys of the Big Easy) by Erin Nicholas https://wp.me/p3d0RZ-aS0

Genre: Contemporary Romance

I enjoyed this contemporary romance between two single parents, each approaching parenting in different ways. It was real and honest…not to mention super sexy. Gabe and Addison started with a no commitment sexual relationship that grew to so much more. Their struggle to realize that their contented status-quo wasn’t enough, made for a heartwarming story. I also loved their kids, so different but meshing well. My only pause was how fast Addison went from “no way” to “ok, I’m ready”. It seemed unnaturally fast. Other than that, it was a touching and smoking hot romance. I love the people around them and cannot wait for the next book in the series.

This one was cute. I thought it funny that Gabe wanted more and Addison was the one to pull away. I did like how Gabe let her go, but was sneaky about staying in her life, knowing that the reason she gave was a stupid one. The way that Gabe went about things allowed them to really get to know each other, so that soon Addison realized what she walked away from. I liked how they managed to start building something, but hated how Gabe sabatoged things. Addison got great advice from friends and had the patience to go through with things, because she knew that Gabe would realize he was wrong. The ending had me smiling, loved the new direction of their relationship.

I have to say for me so far Erin Nicholas never disappoints. This is another great example of her outstanding writing. The characters are well written, believable, and fun. The story is hard to put down. So be warned once you start you'll want to read this one all in one setting. Fans of great stories, fun characters, and a setting will have you ready to make a trip are going to love this release from author Erin Nicholas! I highly recommend this one.

Audiobook Review (KU)

Erin Nicholas has been added to my list of new authors. "Going Down Easy" was a short listen for me however it was a bit slow going in the beginning where I really wanted to put it down and move on. Not sure if was the narration or just plot. In any case I finished the listen and it was just okay for me.
Narration by Ryan West was good...i think it could have been better.

What a great start to Erin Nicholas' newest series. I love dirty talking, hot, alpha male Gabe. I adore strong, independent Addison. Then you add in their two wonderful kids, Cooper and Stella and you have a really fantastic page turner about two single parents. I'm looking forward to hearing more from New Orleans.

Started off good but fell flat towards the end. It bugged me how the H was the one who was so determined to pursue a relationship with the h, but ended up pushing the h away later in the book.

Gabe and Addison were HOT! Their story flew off the pages and I couldn't put it down. After a chance meeting via text, when Gabe gets to meet Addison in person he just knows...he knows that this is going to be something special. And he's not wrong. And Addison thinks she can keep Gabe as a "friend" but she's can't resist his 'Nawlins charm! Sexy, hot book. Erin Nicholas is off to a great start with her new Boys of the Big Easy series!

Going Down Easy is the latest swoon-worthy romance from author Erin Nicholas. Told from dual points of view, Going Down Easy follows the story of Gabe and Addison. When Gabe and Addison first got together, it was just supposed to be for one night. However, one night quickly turned into a fun, flirty, no strings-attached fling. No promises of tomorrow, just mind blowing sex. Gabe and Addison have had the best time together, and lately Gabe has been feeling like he needs more. He wants a real relationship with Addison, not just a romp in the bed…Addison won’t admit this, but she’s pretty hung up on Gabe. I mean, he is completely irresistible. However, Gabe wants things that Addison is quite ready for. She’s had a lot of major changes in her life lately and isn’t ready to take on a relationship of any kind. You see, Addison has a secret she’s been keeping from Gabe and she knows once she tells him, he’ll run for the hills…Or will he? Will Addison take a chance on a once in a lifetime romance with Gabe or will her fears ruin everything?? There’s only one way to find out…

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I was hooked on Gabe and Addison from the very beginning. I thought the chemistry between the two of them was explosive and I was really excited to see where their story would go. Now, I’m not gonna lie to you, Addison did make me a little batty in the beginning. I hated the way she tried to push Gabe away when he wanted more. But, I did understand where she was coming from. She never planned on being on a mom and had a hard time accepting when it happened to her. She quickly found herself raising a child all on her own with no outside help at all. So, when Gabe came around and turned out to be a single parent as well, I think that really threw her for a loop. As much as she loves her daughter, she wasn’t looking to add anymore children into the mix. So, being with Gabe went against her plan. However, Gabe wasn’t so easily deterred. This man knew what he wanted and wasn’t afraid to go after it. He had insecurities when it came to love and parenting just like everyone else. But, he knew that what he had with Addison doesn’t come around that often, so he was willing to fight and prove to Addison that he was worth the risk.

Going Down Easy is a fun and flirty romance. I loved the characters and found them very easy to relate to. I loved watching Gabe and Addison figure things out and overcome their fears. Addison learned that it was ok to depend on someone else, while Gabe learned that it’s awesome to have support, but he’s fully capable of doing it all on his own. These two characters grew a lot throughout their story and it was joy to watch their romance come full circle. I really enjoyed reading this book and getting lost in the story this author has written.

Absolutely loved this story and I'm excited that it's just the start of a new series from one of my favorite authors. This book is super sexy and fun with a great setting in the Big Easy. Gabe and Addison's relationship may have started out as a once a month booty call but things get real when Addison moves to New Orleans permanently. Since their prior relationship never involved much talking and definitely no personal details they are both surprised to find out they have more in common than either ever dreamed.

Put this one on the must read list, you don't want to miss it. I highly recommend.

My Review:
Wow...I really, really liked this book. From page one I was completely engrossed with the story. The author just perfectly wove the story so that it was engaging and intriguing and I didn't want to stop reading. I loved this slowly developing relationship between Gabe and Addison (although the sex was there and HAWT from page one) and their two five year olds. This book was everything that made me happy.

For six months, Addison and Gabe have been engaging in a hot fling once a month when she's in NOLA on business from NYC. It's hot and sexy and Gabe is starting to realize that he'd really like more, but he owns a bar in NOLA and Addison lives in NYC. That would never work. Oh, and she also has no idea that he has a five year old son.

But surprise...Addison is relocating and also has a kid that Gabe had no clue about. In his view, this is perfect. He just wasn't counting on Addison's aversion to commitment. She already has a kid, doesn't want another. She also doesn't want anything more than a fling. She got pregnant by accident and was really burned by her ex. She's now a serious commitment-phobe.

But Gabe doesn't give up that quickly. I love how he drew her into his world and eventually the kids became part of it all and this whole little dynamic works so well. I don't think I've ever read a book where the kids in the story worked so well in it to not only enhance the story, but to make that much better and heartwarming. I think I fell just as hard for Cooper and Stella...gah, these kids and how they bonded together...I LOVED THEM!!

Everything about this book worked for me. At first, I couldn't see Addison's view, but then it became clearer and my heart hurt for both her and Gabe. I loved the way that the story played out and didn't want to put my kindle down. This story and the romance was impeccable. I loved it and cannot wait for more in the series. Bring on Logan (Gabe's brother).

I definitely recommend this book!
