憩园

《憩园》创作于1944年，缘于作者在抗战期间两次回到成都老家所得的印象，可看作是《激流三部曲》的续篇，讲述的是大家庭败落以后的事情。这部小说借着一所公馆的线索写出了旧社会中前后两家主人的不幸的故事。不劳而获的金钱成了家庭灾变的原因和子孙堕落的机会。
香港文史学家司马长风曾如此评论《憩园》：“论谨严可与鲁迅争衡，论优美则可与沈从文竞耀，论生动不让老舍，论缱绻不下郁达夫，但是论艺术的节制和纯粹，情节与角色，趣旨和技巧的均衡和谐，以及整个作品的晶莹浑圆，从各个角度看者恰到好处，则远超过诸人。”

(2.5) Écriture superbe mais je suis déçue. Le récit avance peu et surtout l’histoire est assez vide. Je n’ai pas réussie à accrocher et ça a été un soulagement de finir le livre. Après je veux pas cracher sur le style d’écriture parce qu’il est vraiment magnifique, c’est très léger et poétique.
