Expect the entrancing romance , the gripping conflict, and the mind-blowing interlacing of plots that you've come to love from this author, in this edition that begs the question, "What if Drake had chosen a different fate?” After Ara confronts Drake about a vision he had decades ago—a glimpse into the future that saw him choose a path for Ara’s life—he is forced to reveal the one she never got to live. But this is no mere tale of “What if?” because everything, from the moment she sets foot in that vision, will change for Ara, David, and Jase. Forever. Rule #1: Vampires hurt you because they enjoy it. After a familiar stranger warns Ara that death will befall those she loves, she moves across the world to live with her father. But she could never have imagined the safer option was to let them all die. Sent on a mission to protect an unworthy human, David Knight fantasizes about all the sordid acts he’ll commit against her while he’s away from the watchful eye of the Set. After all, he can make his twin brother erase it from her. But Jason falls deeply in love with what he’s sworn to protect—a crime punishable by extreme torture—and if he is arrested, no one will be there to keep the innocent human safe from his brother’s sordid acts of attrition. And David is the one man with the power to convict him. In an equally heart-warming and gut-wrenching tale of love gone wrong, this three-part delve into Ara’s alternate life will make you cry, throw your book across the room and yet beg for more, because no one is immune to the charms of an evil vampire. Are you? Grab your copy to find out if you’ll be Team David or Team Jase at the end of this…
Of course this gets all the stars. Dark Secrets is my favorite book world to get lost in.
I love this version which takes the opening event in Dark Secrets, removes it, and then explores how much different Ara's life would be. It's wonderful, because for me anyway, it takes the story in the direction I wished for. The book is largely from Ara and Jase's perspective and I could spend an eternity inside Jase's head. I know I'm fangirling hard over here, but Jase is my ultimate book character, he's literally perfect. I don't know how Angela came up with him, but she did an amazing job.
I am familiar enough with her writing to know that as this series progresses she will rip my heart into a billion pieces. I also know though that it will end well. I just hope this time Jase gets what his heart desires instead of the horrible fate that befell him in Dark Secrets and the ending that saw him happy but never quite convinced me, it always felt like he got second place. So here's hoping he gets first this time.
Five huge stars for this 'In Another Life' , it was another fabulous book from Angela Hudson.
I must admit when i first new that this was going to be so different from the first DS books i was a bit apprehensive as being a huge David Knight fan i wasn't sure if i was going to like this version of events, well i needed have worried because how this story unfolded got me hooked again into Ara,David and Jason's world and i totally loved it,i fell in love all over again.
You get to see a different side to Mike in this story and i loved how he was changed in this book than in the first DS books.I loved Jase alot more in this story as he and Ara got to be a couple, but David was just the same a Dark,Sexy Vampire that i love.
Ara was very much the same character being strong and beleiving in the good in people, but she still takes no crap and i loved to see her character developing with all the changes that were happening to her in her stride. This story flowed along with a few twists that i never saw coming and the ending left me kneeding,no WANTING to know what happens next.
I now can't wait to see what Angela Hudson has installed for us next,as with her writing you never know how this is all going to unfold for Ara,David and Jase, she keeps you guessing at every turn which has kept me hooked throughout.I love this rollocoaster of a ride along with these characters that i never want to get off..
Ive read all of AM Husons books and they were all awesome so i figured i would read this one to because all her books keep me on the edge of my seat and i dont want to put the book down and yet again she wrote a fantastic book i read it in no time because i couldnt put the book down. I was a little said because she didnt end up with David in this one and i am Team David but i like Jason too and it was a great read.
I’m loving this retelling. I’m team Jase and this has been a real treat seeing what could have been. I even like David better in this version. Can’t wait to read the next one!
I liked this book and hated it. What happened to my David. He wasn't as perfect in this one. This one he loved her but let everyone else woo her. What? That isn't him.

The recap stuff from the original series was a bit annoying for someone who’s read the forest series but the fact we get to see another side of the same story is great
I was always team jase, and this is how it should have been in the beginning. But not the ending, poor jase and ara. Wonder what's in stores next. On to the next.
This is a well written book, but I do no know why it was written. I've love this series since I found it, but I hate this spin off with ALL MY HEART!!!
Such a bittersweet book... In the original book David had won the girl and we all secretly wished it had been Jason.
This book we see Ara fall madly in love with Jason and plan a life together when it all goes wrong and he is punished for crimes leading to Ara having to walk away and leave Jason behind bars.
It's really strange, just a glimpse of how things could have turned out and it was so very different! One path two destinies.
