Fascinating book on the math behind everyday life. I like how there's a lot of probability examples, which is woefully insufficiently taught in Canadian high schools nowadays.

Pros
- The author selected great examples that are relevant in the modern world
- Descriptions were easy to understand
- the book is illustrated and colourful

Cons
- Could have done better with presenting the calculations in more detail
- A lot of the descriptions of mathematical concepts are incomplete or imprecise

I really liked this book. Here there are some 60 applications of mathematics in
situations we all know, even those where a lot of people don't know there's math involved. Some are quite common in this kind of literature, but there are quite a few original and interesting.

The explanations are simple and direct, very concise. He doesn't beat around the bush, he doesn't repeat himself, he writes very clearly. In fact, personally I would like Beveridge to explain them a little more, I would enjoy the book more with a little more depth.

Excellent succint intros

This is a one of a kind book that gives short intros to applications of math in just about every walk of life and beyond. Going well beyond the scope of "scientific" or "engineering" applications, the book at once makes the subject matter accessible, non technical, and open to deeper pursuit

This book is mainly directed to everyday readers with even a slight taste in mathematics. While an individual topic might be simple for the expert in that field, The Math(s) Behind... covers a wide range that many will be able to learn something interesting. Overall, a nice book for your personal library collection.
