I've read this years ago when I picked it up new.

I recently bought a batch of R. Karl Largent books and am making my way through them. I vaguely remember the beginning of this book but not much else.

The story was pretty good, a post-cold war story about Russian Hard-Liners vs the American Government. It's a bit dated now, but was entertaining enough. I liked the book, but as with my previous read, the ending left a little to be desired. It ended quite quickly and not neatly. The Bogner character is setup as the "only man to get this job done" type. But, near the end, he fails to bring backup nor seemed to even have a plan resulting nearly in his death. I expected the character do something unexpected after the reveal of the mystery "Russian" Illegal in Jamaica. Similar to the ending of The Prometheus Project with it's character Elliot Grant Wages, the character was setup to be a guy who gets things done, but seems to stumble upon success at the end.

This is the third R. Karl Largent book I've read so far and all three started off really well, but I had issues with their endings. This book starts a series with the T. C. Bogner characters, so the ending may be a setup for book #2.
