Growing up hard, fast and street smart, she’s accomplished in hand to hand combat and accurate with a gun. With no money for college, she enlisted in the US Marine Corps out of high school and was quickly plucked from her unit when her sharp shooting and intellectual skills outshined her male counterparts.

Every time she goes to a different town, two things are she’ll have a new name and someone is going to die.
Kris Calvert is a former copywriter and PR mercenary who after some coaxing, began writing novels. She loves alliteration, pearls and post-it notes. She’s married to the man of her dreams and lives in Lexington, Kentucky. She’s Momma to two grown kids, and is also responsible for one very needy rescue pup. When she’s not writing, she’s baking GF cupcakes.
What a brilliant book. Right from the beginning it was amazing until the very last page. An unputdownable page-turner that was really thoroughly enjoyable.
Bring out the big guns becaue your going to need them. Jane Doe Scarlett was my first read of Kris Calvert's and it was fast pace and explosive. Jane is an ex-marine with a hard past as a foster child. She now works as a "assassin" for a secret government program. She is skilled in killing people listed on America's most wanted list. Jane is quiet, steady and always follows the kill plan. Matt Matthews is a reporter who has seen the side of war that most America's never know exist. He has been on the battlefields alongside Marine's in order to get the story. When his story and Jane's target cross paths their lives with forever be linked. Jane has to make a decision she has never encountered before, follow the "plan" or follow her heart. "Burdens are for shoulders strong enough to carry them." I am beyond excited to read the next installment of this series. Jane Doe has made me a Kristen Calvert fan.
This is my first Kris Calvert read and I will definitely be reading more from her in the future. Especially carrying on this series her writing style in this book kept me turning page after page dying to know what was going to happen next. Jane Doe was a very intriguing read!!
Jane was a kickass character she was strong, independent, intelligent and focused. She had made the best out of her life after having such a terrible start. Growing up in numerous foster homes Jane didn't really connect with many people but the ones she did she held them dear to her heart and would protect them fiercely!! After graduating Jane join's the Marine Corps and quickly becomes a sort after asset. Now working for a secret government agency she's taking down one byone the highest known terrorist's!!
"Crow. She didn't know the identity of her contact, whether it was a man or a woman. She didn't care. Crow watched from above. Crow gave the orders. She followed them."
Jane has a code/set of rules that she follows but her rules must change when her path crosses an intriguing man. Matt is a war journalist he's following leads and trying to uncover threats. But in doing so he's made himself a target!! Jane must "Adapt. Improvise. Overcome." to complete the mission she was given.
I really can't wait to carry on this series of Jane Doe books. Kris Calvert has given us an intriguing, captivating read that i couldn't put down.
Well Jane Doe was full of mystery and twists and turns and nothing what I thought it was going to be kind of read. I rarely read synopsis of books, I like picking up books based on friends raving on them, book covers and teasers...and this book had all three!!! I could not wait to get my hands on it, and let me tell you, I was sucked in trying to figure out what the heck was going on and really enjoyed reading about Scarlett.
Scarlet was found in a dumpster as a newborn, she had such a sad life while growing up. She had no family and was tossed from home to home. When she graduated high school, she decided to join the US Marine Corps. This is where she was sought out for her spectacular sharp shooting skills. This is where you really get to see how bad ass Scarlett is. lol This girl was like GI Jane and MacGyver all wrapped up into one. She was soo bad ass!!! Yes I know I am repeating myself..lol
"Her mission was to kill a known terrorist and soldier of the caliphate. Number Thirteen."
Holy cow, sometimes I didn't know who was hunting who in this book...lol Sooo much action.
I gave this book 4.5 iScream Books Stars. This was my first book by Kris Calvert and I will definitely love to read more from her in the future. Her writing style kept me turning those pages dying to know what was going to happen next.
Your immediately sucked into this story of the life of Jane Doe, a government sanctioned assassin.
Jane Doe was left in a dumpster after she was born, went through hell bouncing around multiple foster homes until she aged out at 18 where she went on to become a combat Marine. Now working for the Crywolf Project as a stealth operative who tracks and eliminates terrorists here in the US. She is one tough woman who you do not want to mess with.
This books covers her mission to take out number 13 and her first meeting Matt Matthews, a war journalist who is hiding a secret. The writing is tight and just flows keeping your attention until the very last page. As the author released 3 books at once in this series I am off to read the second
I was extremely intrigued by the storyline based on the synopsis and wasn’t disappointed with this story. Full of Suspense, at first I though each book would be a stand alone and now I understand Jane Doe’s story even more! Love who she is and what she does. Vauge I know but I don’t want to give away too much because it is what this trilogy is about! Matt is interesting and I cant wait to see what happens next.
The sweetest thing about this story is Jane’s good nature and how she interacts with Father Doheny. This doesn’t end in a full cliffhanger but it does leave us with unanswered questions.
Side Note: this is definitely a suspense story with very minimal romance.
What a thrill ride! Jane is a powerful character, intelligent, strong and instinctual. I started this book without a clue, except it was written by Calvert and knew it would be good. From start to finish it took three hours and I was on the edge the entire time. It's a bit military, a bit assassin, and a bit genius. My books have felt a bit stagnant lately but this brought the buzz and heart of a thrilling and unique storyline. Definitely looking forward to more of this series. I was thrilled to receive an early copy, I have written my review voluntarily and without bias.
Wow! Just wow! Kris Calvert has outdone herself with Jane Doe: Scarlett. Engaging characters and a compelling storyline that kept me turning the pages. Scarlett had a hard life growing up, but she’s moved passed it. And she never looks back. Throughout we get to see glimpses of what made Scarlett into the bad ass she is today. I’m hooked and want more!
Man, oh man, what a thrilling ride! My first ever Kris Calvert book was completely amazing! I went into this book not knowing a single thing but I came away with another favorite author. I knew when I saw the cover of this book that I wanted to read it. The words inside the cover though was way more than I expected. I’m intrigued enough with this author that I am going to peruse her backlog.
Jane Doe was a completely mystery with twists and turns that completely snuck up on me. Scarlet was an amazing character! Her childhood was so heartbreaking. I loved how strong she grew to be. Her specific skills made her a sought after person. She was so very strong, so very smart. I love a strong character like this. Plus the storyline Calvert created for us was so suspenseful and so full of angst.
I just can’t recommend this book enough! Scarlet is completely bad ass! You won’t be able to put this book down. I can’t wait for the other two books in this series. I plan on completely devouring this trilogy this weekend. If you are looking for a story with mystery and intrigue, suspense and heart, well this is the book for you! It will consume you through the very last page and make you wish for me! Prepare your booty because you’re gonna be sitting on the edge of your seat the whole time!
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.
Jane Doe is my typical badass. She fits the bill of an assassin. But one thing she is not, a killer. I know killing someone counts as being one but she follows orders and protocols, she's disciplined and organized. There's a lot of badass women, on the top of my head, I can compare her to, but she stands out in a way that everybody failed to do.
Whoa what an adventure I just went on in Scarlett's world! I couldn't and didn't want to put this book down. So much suspense and angst!
If you looking for something to keep you on the edge of your seat with a great story line, go one-click Jane Doe Scarlett now! You will not be disappointed.
Loved this book and can't wait to read more. Jane is a Badass ! I was not exactly sure what to expect from this book, but I really enjoyed it. It had great characters and a terrific story. A little bit of action, intrigue, romance and Mystery all rolled into an awesome book. I will be reading the next two for sure and look forward to hopefully more books in the future.
I enjoyed this so much. It was fast paced with rounded characters. I loved how the chapter names were the date and time. I can’t wait to read the next book of this unique series.

Jane Doe: Scarlett is the first novel in the new series from one of my favorite authors. Jane grew up in the system as she was left in a dumpster at birth. She makes it through with the help of some case workers, teachers, and her last foster parent. The Marines make her tough. Her employer pays her to kill. Her targets are terrorists. This first story in the trio throws a kink into her armor. I look forward to reading the next one to see where that goes.
Jane was found in a dumpster as an infant and had a tough life in foster care. She is brilliant and after receiving her degree, she has been trained as a skilled and dangerous assassin. She has taken the name Scarlett as she works an assignment in Atlanta. This is a very well written story with multiple villains and a potential lover, Matthew Matthew III. I enjoyed the action and the interactions of the characters. This is the first book that I've read by the author and I definitely enjoyed it - I read it in one evening.
Scarlett is a ghost she has a job to do and once she takes the target out she is gone. But there is a complication. Matt knows that there is something about Scarlett but she gives nothing away. She will do her job & disappear again as she isn't finished yet. She knows that one day she will get justice no matter what it costs her. Scarlett is a woman full of secrets and a painful past but she knows what she is doing is making a difference even if others can't see it. I wonder if she will ever be done. A good read
I got this book for free on the stuff your Kindle day and absolutely loved it! Short and sweet, it was exciting, entertaining, and had a little hint of romance that I was not expecting at all. I finished this book in two days and plan on buying the next in the series as soon as I finish my physical TBR list. Jane Doe: Scarlett was action-packed and fast-paced, and it was extremely difficult to put down. I like how the book didn't end on an unbearable cliffhanger but there was still more to be desired such as Matt's story (who is he working for?), Jane's next assignment (where is she going?), and Three's next movements (will Jane get the authorization to eliminate him next?).
Overall, I absolutely recommend this book. It is a quick read that you won't be able to put down.

Such an exciting start to what appears to be a great trilogy or series of Jane Doe books. Scarlett (Jane) is a tough cookie, takes no shit, and despite the cards life dealt her, manages to have a career as a badass terrorist stopper. I'm anxious to see what the other two books have in store for Jane Doe. Excellent read!
This is the first in the Jane Doe series, and unlike many "first books" this one has enough action to compensate for the back story flashbacks ! It was a wild ride and I am looking forward to grabbing more of this series!! Action -- check Characters you care about -- check mystery -- check
I do 'non spoiler' reviews, but trust me, you want to read this!
This one sucks you in from page one and just keeps you interested the entire time. Such a good story for a modern day assassin vigilante type government weapon. Everything was so believable too and not far fetched like some. Great short read. I will definitely be reading the next book as well!
Fabulous story. Twists and turns have you guessing from beginning to end. Must read!!! If you love out of the box heroines, Kris did not disappoint. Scarlett is amazing.
This book kept you on your toes until the end. Lots of drama and action. Loved the two main characters Jane and Matt. What a cliff hanger at the end. Can't wait to read the next book.
Good! Tossed in dumpster at birth she's now an assassin of terrorists for a secret gov't org. Brilliant mind, kickass fighter, totally closed off. Meets journalist Matthew Matthews w/ hidden agenda?
If you're like me and love the whole shadow government organization storyline, you'll love this. The story moves through quickly, and like the main character, doesn't have anything unnecessary. I love Jane's no frills, no entanglements, I can kick your ass attitude.
The story wraps up nicely while also leaving enough that you can see the beginning of the larger picture that will come together through the series.
5 stars because I immediately went and bought the next two.
Not a bad book! Better than I anticipated. Slightly frustrated with the editing, as there were quite a bit of mistakes. And the timeline seemed jumpy with no explanation. But I enjoyed it and plan to read the second one!
