At five my parents died in a horrible car crash changing my life for the worst. I was thrust into a life I never expected and had to learn to adapt in order to survive, no matter the cost. Soon I was shuffled into the foster system becoming a lost child with no ties. My roommate and mortal enemy divulged a troubling rumor about my parents, forcing me to question everything I knew.

Even worse I realized I had a gift ... or a curse that allowed me to see and interact in the spiritual realm. It was only a matter of time before I learned ghosts weren’t always trustworthy and some had hidden motives. They become part of my life, past, present and future. I no longer knew who to trust or who to run from.

All glitter and gold, married to a wealthy husband, I met my half-sister and thought my problems were over or at least the odds were looking better until their dirty little secrets spilled over into my life and well-being. They used my body to quell their insatiable need and performed a terrifying experiment on me -- one that worked.

Enough was enough I planned my revenge against those who harmed me using my spiritual talent. It was all that I had and gave me an edge.

Will my plan work or will I forever live with the insidious actions of others?

My name is Scarlett Jones and this is my story.

This book caught my attention right away. Scarlett did not have an easy life but I who has? The book was easy for me to relate too. I have not read much from this author before but I like the style of this book. I will see what else Elle Klass writes and keep her in mind for the future. I like the part of Scarlett seeing ghosts and I like the many new things this author bring to this book. there were many characters and I enjoyed the book. *This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.*

I received an early copy because I basically begged for it.

I loved the Eye of the Storm series and was thrilled to find out that there was going to be a companion series. It gives us a new perspective in to the world that Klass has created. It also gives you a supernatural sort of feel. I have to say that this is probably my favorite book this author has written. Her writing continues to grow stronger with each book and this book explodes with a wonderful and twisted tale. I'm struggling trying to write this review because this book was so good. I'm going to answer a few questions for you though. Do you need to read the Eye of the Storm series to understand this book? No it is helpful towards the end because you will understand the ending properly but it isn't necessary. Did you have trouble sleeping while reading this book? I sure did. There are some elements and events in this book that will make you cringe and make you want to check under your bed.

My favorite character was Scarlett. I mean after all it is her story that we are hearing. I feel overly connected to Scarlett because you get to watch her grow up. I mean we start as a child and travel with her until you is a grown woman. It is hard not to fall in love with a character that you watched grow. My heart broke with hers and swelled with hers. It quite a different experience to have this many emotions for one character in the course of one book. I am very protective over her so if you don't like her than don't talk to me.

I'm not going to tell you my favorite moment because there is too many spoilers so I'm just going to give a hint. It happens after a birthday party. It is a moment that defines and melds Scarlett and turns her into a strong female lead. It was hard to read but encouraging later.

Overall, I love this author and this series. I look forward to hearing more stories of Evan's girls because their voice needs to be heard.

Honestly, I wasn't really sure how to start this review because the book is so twisted in ways. We are talking psychological thriller with a paranormal twist. I mean, what can you do when the first murderer in the book is none other than the ghost of your twin brother that you absorbed in the womb? As if that's not messed up enough, Scarlett pretty much has an awful life until much later in the book. And even then she must live with the consequences of her actions. I mean, Timmy is pretty psycho, but there's even worse to come. Scarlett's nickname of Chimira is rather accurate. And it leaves one to wonder about her father. For a good half of the book I sat there wondering whether every person around her was going to die. Seemed like a legit question too. There is a serious body count in this book. The cover may look innocent enough, but what you are getting is a book full of murder with a twist. Ghosts, vanishing twins, a magical house, and more. Overall, I read it in one day because I was so plugged in to it!

I wasn’t sure about this book. it threw me for many loops. The writing is good, but I couldn’t get into the story fully. It’s a good book, but really out of my realm.
I was distracted by the many characters and having to keep them straight in my head. In my opinion, there was too much going on. It seemed like Scarlett would no sooner get out of one predicament. then would end up in another one.
This book is seriously twisted. The main character, Scarlett, can see and speak to ghosts. This book touches on a lot of disturbing topics, including abuse, and murder. Not for the faint of heart.

What a wonderful tale about an unlucky in love and life orphan, who you really empathise with. Well written with wonderful characters. It’s a good summer read as it’s easy to read and rolls along at moderate speed until rocketing to its conclusion. Received this complimentary copy through Voracious Readers Only

Scarlett by Elle Klass

This is a good book. A really great story with great (and terrible) characters. It is written as if it were YA or NA, but the actions in the plot were too horrific for either genre. To me, this is definitely an adult novel. It is also apparent that there are more in this series as it seemed to rush at the end. Overall, though, a really good read.

I received this book as an ARC and this is my honest review. I loved it. A young girl loses her parents and goes into the foster care. All her life she was told that she was special and we find out how special. A paranormal story with unexpected twists that will keep you reading until the explosive end. A great read for lovers of the paranormal.

Scarlett’s story is one filled with tragedy and sadness. After losing her parents in a car accident, she is raised in an orphanage where things aren’t easy for her. In addition to her hardships growing up, she also has the ability to both see and interact with ghosts. These ghosts however, are not always what they seem. In an attempt to not give away any of the story’s plot lines, I will say the ghost story aspect is unique and one that readers will find a bit different. Scarlett’s story follows her from a child, to adulthood. You witness her ups as well as her downs which helps you connect to the character. I felt myself riding the emotional train with her which is one of the reasons I loved this book. The author did a great job of pulling you in and keeping you interested in the story. I had no idea when I started reading that this was a companion series. This story has intrigued me and will be sending me in search of the original series. One thing readers must keep in mind however, this book contains dark materials such as rape, murder, and emotional traumas. It is not meant for the faint of heart. Scarlett’s tale is emotionally difficult to read but it is well worth it. Reviewed by Rena

Dark fantasy at its best. Vanishing twins, evil souls, and those who are just lost, Scarlett can see them all. Great plot and characters, lots of action and twists.

I received a copy of this book from the author and this is my honest review.

I am in two minds with this book. It was written well but I felt like I was constantly on the spin cycle of a washing machine. I struggled at times as it was so sad/depressing then something wonderful would happen only to come crashing down again. I persevered but I was so emotionally drained. Like another reviewer I also got distracted by the many characters and felt at times, there was too much going on. I would like to read something else by this author to see if it was just my frame of mind at the time of reading or if this is the way she writes.

I received a copy of this book from the author and this is my honest review.

This is the first book I have read from this author and I wasn't sure what to expect. A lot happens in this book and at times I struggled to follow everything that was going on. Scarlett starts when Scarlett is a very young girl, her perfect life is ripped from her by a tragic accident. What follows is her life story. There were a lot of dark moments in this book and I would classify it as paranormal. I think it was a good read and I wanted to know what was going to happen, however, I also felt like it was all over the place and at times hard to follow. Maybe if I had read the original series first everything would have made more sense.

Scarlett by Elle Klass is the story of a young woman who is both gifted and cursed. Reading like a VC Andrews book without the incest, my heart went out to this girl and I deeply admired her courage after everything she has been through

This is a hard review to write because I’m trying hard to not give away the story. There are some very high points as well as incredibly low points. Scarlett is one of those characters you are dying to see succeed and have her happy ending, but every time you turn around there is something else going wrong for her. It’s like the universe has picked this poor girl to take a massive dump on. How she maintains hope through the story is beyond me.

Scarlett can see and interact with ghosts. Where those ghosts come from, I will let you read for yourself, but it’s not your typical ghost story. I like the uniqueness of the ghostly interaction and how the author consistently surprises the reader with their stories.

There are also some seriously disturbing scenes in this book, which wasn’t a surprise to me as I read Klass’s book, Evan’s Story a few months ago. Scarlett is Evan’s mother (not a spoiler) so now I know why he is who he is and it makes complete sense.

Overall this was a good book. It’s not your run of the mill ghost story and involved a serial killer. There are unexpected surprises along the way, mixed in with sad or disturbing elements as well. I recommend this book to anyone who likes the VC Andrews style of writing without being into the incest.

If you read the Storm Trilogy, about Evan and his family. This book continues the story of the family saga. I love this book! I was gifted it by the author in exchange for an honest review, and I can't wait to buy this book. It answers the questions we readers had, but what about the girls in this tragic saga? Scarlett is the child born from Evan's first rape victim, and this is her story. Given up by her birth mother, and put into foster care, that's just the beginning of her sad, yet triumphant life. This is just the first book in Elle Klass' new series of Evan's Girls, and it's intense, but I can't wait to read more. Check it out for a great read!

I started reading this book and was immediately drawn towards the female character as you get to watch her grow up. The protagonist and her 'senses' give her credence as a potent force to be reckoned with. The storyline and cringe-worthy plot twists that keep the pages turning. I love dark and scary events in unexpected time-lines, and this story had them all. The description of this book grabbed my attention, and I wasn't sorry I invested my time into it. A highly recommended 5 star read.

This book is not for the faint of heart. Scarlett Jones is a child begotten by rape. Her life is harsh and she is forced to make some hard choices. There are some pretty scary moments but there are some sweet moments too. If you like psychics and horror this is a book you should check out.

No spoilers given!
I found this book to be a strange ramble of the key characters life with lots of tragedy and hints of magic along the way. Some parts are pretty harrowing, although they do flow as a part of the story. The main focus is on the characters themselves rather than the location and back ground so it feel as if the characters could be in an empty room and some of the characters are not developed as much as they could be. Overall its an interesting book and if you like the weird and wonderful with a few nightmares thrown in then I would recommend this for you.

I received a free copy of this book for my honest and voluntary review which I have given.

I received this book free from Voracious readers in return for a review. Whilst the book had a good story line about a young woman orphaned as a as a job to child with a tragic background and the ability to interact with spirits I found it hard going at times as there just seemed to be too much going on at times and it was difficult to keep up. But on the whole a good read.

A good idea. I liked the basic story but found it like a book of 2 halves. The first half was descriptive and engaging. The second half felt rushed and a little confusing. I felt like the second half didnt get the time it needed to flow as well as the first half. Honestly I am a little disappointed.
