HER
I'm usually brutally honest. I don't like to sugar coat shit or beat around the bush. But this time, I couldn't want to run further from my own destructive truth. I'd been sold. Sold. Like some kind of dog to a man born of cruelty and carnage. A man who rules a criminal organization on a global scale, and now... rules my body but, most importantly... my freedom. I dreaded my days back in the warehouse; caged, beaten, awaiting a fate I had no control over. All thanks to his billion-dollar industry in human trafficking and God knows what other line of bullshit he runs. And now, I belong to him. Forced to live under his roof and his rules, I now live a life of fear and constraint. I don't want to believe it but...it's getting harder and harder to fight him, especially when his touch can burn so painfully good when I finally surrender to it. My body may want him, but my mind and my heart are far more calculating. I haven't lost hope...no matter what he does to me. I refuse to break. I will escape him and his reign of terror over me. Whether its tomorrow or five years from now, I won't stop until I have him cold and dead at my feet. And that's the real fucking honest truth.

HIM
I never thought I could be this fucking consumed by another person - captivated in such a way that it borders on obsession. Jaden is mine now and the truth of that makes my blood run hot and fast in my veins. The feel of her perfect body under mine is like pure ecstasy, even when she's fighting me...or herself. She can try to deny it all she wants, but she can't hide from me. I know desire when I see it, even when its shadowed by resistance and then ultimately guilt. That fire in her eyes burns me from the inside out, and it just makes me crave her more. I know she's fighting for her freedom, calculating her escape, but in time, she will bend to my will until she finally breaks - until she realizes there is no freedom from me, no escape. Period. She's mine and I won't stop until it’s so deeply embedded into her mind that the mere thought of denying it brings her physical pain...because it will. I have big plans for my little warrior princess and I can't wait for the impending pleasurable eternity of it all.

Jay Marie has been writing since she first learned the alphabet, but it wasn’t until 25 years later that she finally decided to take the deep plunge into the depths of publishing. Her written work conveys the darker side of writing, bringing in to light what most may shy away from. She has a passion for writing strong female characters with a brain that can override their sex drives, deliver one hell of a punch as well as take one. They have backbones made of steel and hearts that beat with a ferocity that refuses to be tamed or matched.

Her inspiration comes in the form of a minefield on top of a snow covered mountain. One step and a new idea explodes in her head, and then before you know it, she has an avalanche of ideas rushing through her brain and it does not stop!

When she's not writing until the late hours of the night, she's working as a legal assistant at a personal injury law firm in Michigan. Jaden is adjusting, with push back, of her captivity with Darren’s purchase of her. The story remains quite appealing, however, repetitive and slow. The events are mostly similar. Jaden does the same thing over and over seemingly expecting a different result. Darren punishes. Rinse and repeat.

Generally, Jaden is mouthy and disobedient when she could preserve her skills for strategy. Not that Darren is fair, but he’s not foolhardy. And gosh if I read once more about her fighting skills, her black belt, advanced yoga (because that distinction needs to be made), I’ll scream. We get it: She’s a badass. Problem is she’s too much. Her bravado gets her no where. And where I championed her in book one and had distain for Darren, now all I want is for her to stfu and yield to Darren, who interestingly is described so hotly. Still, Darren is crazy af and obsessed, and unfair in his demands which are straight out egotistical. He really is an unempathetic monster. Strangely, I feel some respect him while equally disliking him — he’s charming (the author did that so well) — while I am so annoyed by and less tolerant to Jaden who makes conscious, recurring choices that go against her best interest in the name of being a tough girl, until the amazing end of the book. Darren just crazy wants her — on his unbalanced terms, and that includes looks of willing and unwilling spice. The “sex” was hot.

Compelling story, unfortunate repetitive theme that made for a slow read, but Darren is an absolute masterpiece of a villain.

THIS REVIEW will be for the first three books in the series.
Many SPOILERS are included below:

I feel very conflicted about the characters and story.

What I liked about the heroine: she is loyal and passionate for those she loves She would die for her boyfriend and family. She has excellent self-esteem, more so than most heroines I have read about. She knows her worth. Her body is a machine that she values and takes great care of. She stands up for herself and others and is brave. She is like the Duracell Bunny. She keeps going and going no matter how many times she is knocked down. And she is constantly knocked down by the so-called hero and his goons.

What I disliked about the heroine: her strength of being tenacious is also her weakness because she takes it to the extreme. She fights things even to her detriment. She excises very little self-control despite her thinking otherwise. The heroine keeps fighting even though it is foolhardy to do so and causes herself and others a tremendous amount of pain due to her stupidity. I really wanted to slap her at times that is bad considering she was already the heroes punching bag. She is wishy washy about the hero. She feels she loves him and hates him in equal parts. I know that is typical for kidnap victims but it was still hard to read about.

What I liked about the hero: very little. I love jealous and possessive alpha males and he took it to the extreme. The hero was beyond possessed and after awhile felt like he could not breathe without her.
Also he was faithful which I always want the hero to be. Other women did not even register on his radar. They ceased to exist when he meet her despite the fact that some were beautiful and naked around them.

What I disliked about the hero: too much. He is not a hero no matter how loose the definition is. He is a sociopath. He feels no shame, guilt or remorse. He kills whomever he feels like especially if he perceives them as a threat to his relationship with the heroine. No one is safe including innocent men, women and children. Anyone who tries to help the heroine he automatic killed no hesitation on his part. He murders anyone that he perceives as a loss end including physical therapist that he hired to help the heroine recover after he beat her to a bloody mess and a tattoo artist he employed to brand her. He actively hunts for her family with the intend to kill them and make her watch including her boyfriend, parents, little brothers, aunts and because she loves them and he feels motivates her to try to escape him. He claims to love the heroine but because he is a psychopath he is incapable of doing so. A person does not beat someone they love to the point they almost kill them and repeatedly. He savagely beats her both deliberately and when he loses control. He is a sadist and conditions her to be a masochist. Like a true sociopath, he dominates others and wins at all costs, which he freely admits. Also he is intelligent and delusional, thinking that he can control every aspect of her life and take away all of her freedom and choice and that she will still be happy to be with him. He believes that after he fully trains her that she will embrace a life where she loves him, marries him, has his spawn and has a HEA with him.

What I liked about the first three books in the series: I could not stop reading. I read all three books without taking a break staying up to 8:00 a.m. and then without any sleep, went to work. There was the right number of sexy times to me throughout the first 3 books. The sex scenes that were not rape scenes were hot and plentiful but did not overshadow the story.

What I disliked about the first three books: the excessive amount of violence against the heroine and others. While it is not the most graphic I have read the fact that it was unrelenting was hard to take.
I will admit to skipping over some bloody scenes because at times, it was too much. The fight scenes between the hero and heroine were too many as well and too technical. I read that the author has a black belt or some color of belt (not to be offense but honestly they all seem the same to me) and that makes sense because the hero and heroine's moves are broken down to the molecular level. After the first book I skipped over some of those scenes as well and since the majority of their fight scenes were violent and resulted in blood shed it worked out well in terms of skimming parts. Also I wanted the heroine to try to escape more and actually be successfully. Sadly that did not happen. The times she tried to escape with the exception of 1 time were not well thought out but more spur of the moment escape attempts that were unsuccessful.

I will read the last book in the series when it comes out. This is one of the few times that I want the heroine to end up with someone else (the boyfriend would be a good choice agreed the readers get to know him) other than the hero AND I want the hero to die. The hero is not redeemable in my opinion. If he stays true to character then he will always be a psychopath and not capable of giving himself or anyone else a HEA. The heroine could never be happy being with him no matter how brain washed she is. He is a monster who will never feel things like remorse or love. Any spawn he has if raised by him will grow up to be monsters too. For the good of society he needs to be put down and if this were reality and not romanceland he would eventually either be killed or locked up the rest of his life and that would be a true HEA to this story.

Horrifying and disturbing, but good

Disclaimer: I do not consider this a romance, not even a dark romance, so if that is what you are looking for you might want to skip this one. (EDIT: the author describes this series as a "dark erotic thriller," and is very clear that it is not a dark romance.)
That said, I have to say this book is really good. And by "really good" I mean the story moves right along without lulls, the dialogue is good, I don't recall any grammatical errors, and the author does a great job with believable characters and interactions. This book also successfully made me feel. Granted it made me feel incredibly sad and uncomfortable. It made me feel sick. It made me feel hatred and frustration. But, the point is that it made me feel something.
I have no idea where this series is going to end up at this point, and that is exciting. I don't see how Darren could possibly redeem himself for everything he's done, so I have to imagine that an HEA is off the table, but who knows what the author has in store.
I've spent a lot of time trying to figure out exactly why I hate Darren so much, and why I don't see how he could be redeemed when Tony Rawlings (in Consequences by Aleatha Romig) did a lot of similar stuff, and (according to me) was redeemed. I also felt that Mateo Morelli of the Morelli series by Sam Mariano was redeemed. And Carter Cross from Merciless by Willow Winters. What is different here? All of those men were completely heinous to the women with whom they were obsessed, but all of them were redeemed.
Well, first of all, Darren is exponentially worse than the latter two, and I would say also worse than Tony Rawlings. But more importantly, those men mistreated their women as part of a game or a revenge, and eventually became more traditional in their treatment of said women once feelings developed. The "nice" was the real them, and the "cruel" was a temporary necessity (to them, anyway). With Darren it seems that the cruel streak IS the real him. As Jaden points out, she could behave perfectly every minute of every day but he would still hurt her. Because he wants to. Because he gets off on it. And he doesn't just hurt her a little bit- he hurts her pretty severely. He violently rapes her nonstop through this book and the preceding book. I don't consider these spoilers since they happened in the first book of this series, which anyone looking to read this second book would presumably have read.
This is why I don't consider this a romance, and why I don't see Darren being able to redeem himself. He is too damaged. He is too cruel. Even if somehow he redeemed himself, and Jaden somehow forgave him, she could never be happy with him because he has to pepper his tender moments with violent beatings. And no one wants to be violently beaten, or beaten at all.
So, again, this book made me sick. It made me sad. It made me angry. It made me hope that some kind of truly horrific end befalls Darren, preferably where he would lose all of his power and control (prison, perhaps) and have to live out his days with the knowledge that Jaden is out there somewhere living a happy life with another man. Now THAT would be a happy ending to me.
So, all in all, this series is so far really good as long as you understand that it is a very violent, very upsetting story that is NOT a romance. Seriously. It is not a romance.
If you are ok with that, then you should definitely read this series because it is really good so far. And, while it isn't yet complete, I have read that the author is nearly done with book #4 (this is book #2), and it is anticipated to be released this year, possibly in the next few months.

Read book one Stolen before you read this book as it’s a continuation of the story. As soon as I finished Stolen I had to jump into this read. That ending... crikey.

I was delighted to find out the owners name. I know I’m easily pleased lol
Jaden is a fantastic character. She’s so strong and feisty. She reminded me of that song Tubthumping (I get knocked down) No matter how much he knocked her down she always came up fighting.

Although I thought this started out a tad slow the pace certainly sped up and I was glued from start to finish.
This is a dark read with trigger warnings. If they don’t bother you then I certainly recommend you read this. I’m off to read book three in this series.

J Marie's Survival is the second book in a series that is dark, really dark. Jaden is bought by the owner of a trafficking ring, the ruthless Darren. She's small, but strong, only he's stronger....so much stronger and he'll never let her go. Not one to give up,Jaden fights for her freedom and the lives of the ones she loves. This battle between them....damn,it had my heart rate through the roof! It will be so hard to survive until Sparks, the next installment,arrives.....For readers of dark thrillers,it's a definite must read!

I'm burning through this series. It's a breath of fresh air. I think what makes this story work is the unpredictable nature of the MMC. I have no idea what this psycho is gonna do next, and I can't wait to find out.

4+, mocna historia, ale wciągająca. Darren to prawdziwy socjopata. I raczej wątpię, żeby się zmienił :P a Jaden mu uległa i przestała szukać sposobów ucieczki od niego. Jeśli doprowadzi do śmierci ważnych dla niej osób to nawet nie zawaha się go zabić.

Look out Wonder Woman! Look out Black Widow! There's a new Sheriff in town and her name is Jaden! Listen to her ROAAAARRRRRRRR!!!!

Hopefully by now you have read the first book (Stolen) in this incredible series! If you haven't, STOP NOW! DO NOT PASS GO OR COLLECT $200!

Super J has proven countless times she is no ordinary acquisition. Hence D's obsession with her. In this installment, things escalate to anxiety levels! Who will win in this game of wills? Initially, I was a bit concerned about Super J's maturity, but I've realize she is no quitter! The girl can take anything D can dish out. But then....Super J does the unthinkable. The unachievable. Readers! I can't convey how DELISH the drama is during this scene. The buildup is unbearablely delicious! Then the climatic game changer in this scene....can you say "fall in a dead faint"???!!! D is straight psycho!! I can't say anymore! I feel myself about to spoil this deliciousness for you!

I can confidently say though while this story started out as a human trafficking tragedy, this series has evolved into a good ole suspense thriller! HEAVY on the THRILLER! This installment is like the Fast & Furious of drama! Don't sleep on it, readers! Its toooooo juicy to be ignored!

#teamJaden #teamDarren ..... I can’t decide! Who are YOU with??!!

Five adreneline filled stars!

Man, what a ride... I feel like the first part of the book was so repetitive. It could have been reduced by half and still tell the same story. It got more interesting towards the end, but not sure if I feel like continuing the series.

I absolutely love the Stronger series.
Didn't think it could get any better, but it did!
I felt so much different emotions while reading anger, sadness, frustration, but that makes a great book, right? Sucking the reader right into the story. And what a great one this is. A well done suspenseful, disturbing erotic thriller, I couldn't but down.
The story picks up where Stolen left off. Means, Jaden is now rightful property of the owner.

"You're mine now, little girl. [...] I will teach you my rules and you will obey them to the T or you will face the consequences. [...] The only thing you need to worry about for the rest of your goddamn life now is pleasing me."

Trapped in the owners home as his submissive pet, she struggles to accommodate to her new life. Jaden's inner strength and defient character, keep her testing the boundaries of her new cage. Where she is constantly questioning her own beliefs regarding her feelings and actions towards the owner. I love her snarky badass attitude, her tenacity and will to fight.

"Im the fighter you will never break, the one person you can never beat. And you're the piece of shit I'm going to kill one day. [...] I will always get back up and take it all over again because I can. Because I was born to breathe fire. I'm unbreakable, so fuck you."

The Owner, Darren Davis deals in human trafficking, drugs etc. The man is a monster a total control freak, aggressive, possessive, jealous and obsessed with Jaden. He likes playing mind games with her and thrives on her fear of him.

"I planned to get inside her head. [...] Punish her and then comfort her afterwards."

Darren is intrigued by Jaden's strong will, fearlessness, resilience and of course her body. He is intent on breaking her, using physical and psychological abuse, to mold Jaden into his perfect obedient woman.

"I'm not just looking for someone to bury my dick in. I'm looking for my companion in life."

I think that says plenty of where Darren sees her in their future together. He is definitely NOT a loving man but in his own twisted way he cares for Jaden and wants her to become comfortable in her new life at his side.

"She could withstand my wrath, and though it might take her some time and tears to recoup, she would always eventually come back to me with eyes blazing and fire in her heart. I loved that about her. It was exactly why I choose her. She was absolutely perfect for me, and I was never ever letting her go."

It is the tug of war between them, the constant psychological mind games, make this story so interesting and kept me glued to the pages.
A brilliant follow up on Stolen, full of violence, noncon sex scenes and two very headstrong main characters.
So happy I can dive right into the next book.

Ciąg dalszy losów uprowadzonej i sprzedanej Jaden. Ta część to niesamowita gra emocjonalna dwóch silnych osobowości, zabawa w kotka i myszkę albo raczej wilka i owcę.

Survival picks up where Stolen left off with Jaden realizing that she was purchased by the Owner (Darren) at the slave auction. She's terrified knowing he's the one she'll have to try and escape from, but she vows never to give up and lose faith.

Darren is determined to make Jaden submit completely and plans on keeping her with him forever. The more she fights, the more he wants her and the more he enjoys the challenge. He can tell Jaden is horrified by the fact that her body responds to his touch and he knows in time he can make Jaden fall in love with him.

Jaden is one of the most stubborn characters I've ever seen. I would hope that I would have the same determination in the same situation, but I honestly don't think I would poke the bear as often and as hard as she did. It's like she had her own death wish. I again found myself loving the villain Darren and siding with him with Jaden acted out. Seriously! What is wrong with me?? I just can't seem to help myself. He's such a sexy and powerful man but he's still the badass boy no matter how delicious he is. This one ends in an OMG moment and I was left wondering how things can possible get better. I again am sided with Darren and I'm really gonna be pissed if Jaden and Darren don't end up together.

Also, without providing spoilers, I'll just say that the bike scene was a little too hard to imagine. Jaden's like a tiny little female Jason Bourne.

Jayden and Darren..one's a fighter and one's a breaker.. Man this is a different type of kidnapping, there is no love story here, Jayden does not fall in love with him and I don't think Darren is really in love with her, he's obsessed with her strength and how she can hold her own when he's fighting her, there were times I was telling Jayden..please shut-up, just keep your mouth shut, but she never listened...I would see Darren's soft side, picnic's at the beach, bathing her, holding her when she cries and I'm like awww he loves her, they make a great couple and BAM he tells her he going to do something that will finally break her and I'm like no he really is not going to that..is he? because if he loved and cared for her wouldn't but he thinks she will finally accepts her new life if he does this dastardly deed..I was even begging him..please don't.. and holy crap!! that scene in the jail cell..I cringed and was like what are you doing to her!!! stop now. All in all this was truly a dark read and I don't see how these two can ever have a HEA. Would I recommend it? Heck yea I would to our dark reader's this is a must!!

The writing is great, just a few grammatical & spelling issues. The reason this book was given less stars than Stolen is due to Jaden. I understand she's a fighter. I understand she is hard headed. But it got to be SO annoying how she continued to repeatedly defy Darren. Realistically, no one would continue to provoke such a monster as Darren, over & over & over. And Jaden tells herself she's going to stop provoking him, yet she does it over & over & over. It was quite annoying & boring...to the point I began to think the author had nothing else of substance to write about & kept coming back to that as story "filler." And I get it, Jaden is tough. But come on, even a child knows after receiving one bite to stop poking a dog. Like I said, the book is wonderfully written & tackles a very touchy subject (human trafficking). I'm just finding myself becoming less sympathic towards the victim (Jaden) & more sympathic towards the perpetrator (Darren)...which I believe is not the intention of the author. Hopefully Spark is better.

Wow I’m speechless!!!!
This book was hard to read for the amount of violence that Jaden has to endure.

But the book is addictive, you just want to know more and all the time you are really cheering and expecting for something to go on Jaden’s way and is so hard how always Darren snuff her.

I love how she can keep her spirit in the middle of the situation she is in. I would have crumbled or worse.

I really hate Darren. I know he is the “hero o protagonist” in this serie. But I really don’t know how he can be redeemed. He is just to violent with her. To much for my liking.

I really hope that at the end she wins and I need to see him suffer a lot, loose everything included her.

Another great edition to this dark, violent, and oh so amazing and at times funny series which continues Jaden's path with human trafficking. We finally learn the owner's name, Darren and I like him even though he's an evil sexy bastard who is obsessed with our feisty Jaden . Once more Jaden isn't afraid to challenge Darren at every turn and I love it. I can't wait for the next book to see what happens with Jaden and Darren.

In the second installment we have Jaden now living with the owner and all the horrors that can come with that. I really can't decide if the first book is better then the second or not. Jaden is still trying to kick as and Darren is still horrible, BUT I can now see some more honest qualities about Darren that I didn't before. NO don't get me wrong, he is still evil incarnate. But I see something there maybe softening. I could be wrong. Can't wait for the next.

Book #2 in the STOLEN series was just as dark as it's predecessor. However, it was a lot slower. In between the exciting depravity, there was an excessive amount of non-relevant, monotonous filler. There was so much of this that I often skimmed through or even skipped several sentences in a given paragraph. To make matters worse, this book ended with a cliffhanger! GRRRRR! Had this been my first book by Ms. Marie, I may not have considered reading any others.

3.5 stars. Wow this series has me gripped. I want to give it more stars because it is good. But some of the contents hit really strongly with my triggers. I'm still rooting for a hea though! Not sure how it's ever going to happen but still hoping! Love how strong the heroine is! And how bad ass Darren is. Maybe a bit to bad in some aspects but I can't help rooting for him anyway!

As “bad ass” as the fmc is supposed to be, she’s just as stupid. She’s less tough and more annoying. Almost like a pick me tough girl. Majority of this book makes you start to sympathize with the MMC due to how annoying the fmc is. Although the writing definitely gives you a real emotional response bc I found myself having anxiety in the end when Darren came to the cell and the recovery room.

This book nearly broke me for Jaden.

So in this 2nd book, Jaden finds herself bought by her owner..none other than the monster that kidnapped her in the first place! This book is way darker than the first one, and when I tell you she doesn't back down no matter how many beatings..sexual assults..torture..she keeps her strong will to survive! He unalives one of her family members in front of her, and she still finds the strength to keep going! He wants her complete submission, and only then will he force her to marry him and have his children. This book had me take a few breaths during my read, but it's my favorite trope, so I really enjoyed it! If it's not yours, this might be too much.. but I'd give this 10 stars if I could!

Way too long, but it actually had a very good climax/descending action, but for many reasons I could not keep going with this.
Again, truly evil villain. I was actually thinking that fantasy authors could use some inspiration for some of his actions in this novel to make a really evil villain. Honestly, just pretended that Jaden managed to escape at the end. Would I love to see her revenge arc?? A million times yes, but there's just way too much to get through to get that so I probably won't unfortunately.

This is so messed up..the story is so sick and Darren is a psychopath. I hate him and I hate how he treats Jadden. I don’t believe he is the main lead. I can’t understand how messed up his mind is. This is not love..this is madness..pure madness..I don’t know if I can go and read the rest of this series but I want to know what and how will Jadden win after all.

Wow. Just when you thought Jaden would at least gain some freedom, Darren manages to take it all away and then some. I have a very small soft spot for Darren, even though he is very deranged. I am moving onto book 3.
