It's my book. Did you think I would have published it if I didnt think it was outstanding?
Admittedly, this was a hard short story for me to write. While this has been fictionalized, that is only slightly. While certain names and locations have been changed and somewhat fictionalized, the main character is a real Marine, still serving on active duty in the Marine Corps at the time of publishing. Being one of my best friends, it was hard for me to hear this and other stories of his abused childhood. It was something that had stuck with me as so horrible that such a good person could be treated so badly. I wanted the story to get out as inspiration that others could get through their poor childhood and become a productive adult who is a brave and honorable person.
