Base Branch #10

Captor Mine

Rate this book
Forbidden lust. A surprising connection. An impossible decision.

Hunter Masters, Base Branch Agent and sniper extraordinaire, is MIA.

After a hellish explosion, Hunter wakes to an angel’s touch. Her blue eyes and caring manner nurse him to lethal health. Her name terrifies him. Not only is she related to the man who tortured his friends and shattered his future, but she is also the madman’s only daughter.

Katrin Royan, successful surgeon and independent woman, fears losing herself.

Her father slams the door, locking her inside a make-shift hospital room with the stranger he offered no details about, save one - danger. Despite her father’s warning, days and hours spent talking with her handsome patient reveal more than a desire to live more fully.

Death and destruction threaten to rip them apart. Kat’s caring, Hunter’s determination, and the torturous heat they create forge them into a solid unit they pray can withstand the next attack.

Captor Mine is the final installment in the Base Branch Series, a force of covert ops novels with more than sizzle in their suspense. If you like adrenaline-laden fresh stories with sensual intensity, you’ll love Megan Mitcham’s Base Branch Series.

Mine Mine Mmine!!

Oh my, these are two hot characters that were meant to be together. Kat and Hunter start out strangers, but end up in such a wild predicament of a 'fun loving' relationship where trust is earned. This Base Branch book brings in the whole crew! Love the whole series!

I settled in to get my MM fix and as usual got lost in the story of Hunter and Kat the one who was left behind but not forgotten or continually looked for.

This one was not as big boom and rat a tat tat as the others with action and torture and mayhem, don't get me wrong there were moments of fist fights and bullets but it wasn't the focus and I didn't miss it as the tension and intrigue was more the focal point that had you biting your nails and sitting up.

I love the meander of the relationship it was hard and fast as they were basically locked up together and Hunter's role of protector was switched out for the one protected even though Kat was the enemy she bonded with this man and thank goodness knew right from wrong and maintained her stand. We see Hunter back in his fold of brothers and although they became lovers I liked that the HEA wasn't there you saw that even when you love it is only fair that you present the best you can be to a relationship or else it makes no sense and if you have issues then best to get them sorted so you can explore and be the best other half you can.

I also loved the twists that took you by storm and yeah people the spicy bits too but when you reach that last page you sit a while cause you are full. You got a piece of everything. I really don't know how she does it cause every story is so complete with its own draw and twirls making you second guess which one you liked the best so I claim the series yup I'm just greedy that way cause its my MM fix.

I voluntarily reviewed this book and state that all comments and opinions are solely mine.

Words can't describe how much I enjoyed this read as it has everything, action, suspense, romance, some humour, twists and turns and two characters, Hunter & Kat, who are now in my top 10 couples of all reads. The chemistry, the sparks, the fireworks between these two made me feel like I was in the room with them. Her compassion, her heartache towards the way she was raised, the emotions towards Hunter she tries to fight and then gives in, her bravery, what she does for Hunter to try and make things easier for him, everything she was dealing with and feeling...WOW. Then there is Hunter, his strength to go forward after a devastating blow, his humour with how he deals with his emotions, his tenderness and willing to comfort and give Kat time to come to terms with her situation and then when they finally make love....big sighs and swoons all around and I didn't think my heart or my tears could take anymore.
Not only the above but the suspense that had my heart pounding, the twist at the end, the plot, the story that flowed easily and the writing which was above par has now made me a huge huge fan of this author and to show my support and love for this story that even though I receieved an ARC I had to buy it !! 10 +++++ stars does not even begin to give it justice.

Mitcham has done it again. With every new addition to the Base Branch team, I'm astounded by how well the story flows from the danger, the suspense, the heat and the romance. There's not a dull minute and it never feels rushed or fake.

I've been really excited about Hunter's story and couldn't wait to watch him be taken down by "The One" and Kat was perfect for him. From their lacking childhoods to their current predicament - everything aligned perfectly to bring them together and show them the that there was truly a perfect match for them if they opened their hearts and minds up to it.

Kat has been seeking approval from her father for years, though she didn't know the type of man he was outside of their uneasy relationship, she's always known he doesn't respect or adore her as a parent should. When he pulls her from the hospital she works in needing her assistance on a special patient, she thinks she's finally got her chance; but as she starts unfolding the situation she discovers there's so much more lacking on her father's part.

When Hunter awakens in a strange place, with an unknown doctor, he's not sure what to think, when he realizes that he's wading in dangerous waters he's even more confused. Because while he knows he's in danger - he's not sure what to think about the beautiful doctor who saved his life and tugs on him in ways he's never felt.

When things take a turn and Hunter and Kat are running for their lives, their feelings explode and they find that there is much more than a sparking chemistry and blooming lust between them. But with danger lurking, past demons haunting, and secrets left uncovered there's a lot to work through and work out to maintain a relationship.

Can these two follow their hearts and leave their pasts behind? Will the dangers surrounding them ever dissipate? What secrets will unfold and how will they affect things? Grab your copy and be swept away with this heart stopping wild ride.

I voluntarily reviewed this ARC book. Wonderful addition to the base branch series. Kat is a young doctor who was raised at arms length by a man she doesn't know. A man who is a monster. Hunter is a man on a mission. After saving his best friend he is injured and in a coma. Kat can only call him Pete as she brings him back to life. However, being forced into saving Hunter's life just may be the beginning of the best part of her life.

Sexy interracial romance, I wish I had read all the others in this series, This is a steamy romance between Kat and Hunter. One of the Base Branch Operatives, when the mission goes wrong Hunter is saved from a building collapse and Katrin is needed by her Dad to save his life. While he is in a coma. Kat starts bonding with her patient and after he awakens she helps him escape. Great romance with plenty of action. Enjoyable read and I will now look forward to reading the others in this series.

After years of trying to win her father's approval, Katrin is horrified to find that he is not the man she thought he was. Locked in with a patient to facilitate his healing, Kat has no-one, other than her cold-blooded jailer to speak to besides the comatose patient. Having to take care of needs that not even the closest family member would want to deal with, 'Pete' takes on a persona that fascinates Kat. When Hunter regains consciousness, he is bemused at being called 'Pete' but in his usual cocky manner, takes on the 'doc' with humour and quick wit. Hunter has played a role in previous books in this series and has a history with Kat's father. The story is steamy and high octane, especially Hunter and Kat's escape. Although this book is part of a series, it is nevertheless a standalone and has a romantic ending. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

I was given an ARC and I'm leaving a honest review.
This is the story of a fragile woman capable of showing her courage and saving the man she loves, and of a brave man who coped with his fragilities and learned what love and be loved mean.
This is a fantastic end to a series I personally loved. The old characters met in the past books make an appearance in this last chapter for a final greeting to the readers.
As always with Megan's books the style is rich and you hardly find mistakes. The characters are well developed through narration and dialogues.
I totally recommend this book but if you want to fully appreciate it first read the previous chapters of this series!

Intense from the first page to the end, lots of twists and suspense. This story definitely has the WOW! factor, its interesting and well thought out. I felt Katrin's anguish regarding her father and his lack of love, being imprisoned to be a doctor and surgeon to another prisoner and one in a serious condition. For Hunter to be in the situation and condition he finds himself the turmoil and helplessness is incredibly frustrating, then wanting to protect but at the same time being reliant on help from Kat so hard to stomach. If you have read any of the Base Branch books then you wont want to miss this one, I have loved them all and this is no exception. Worth more than five stars.

I received Captor Mine from the author as an Advanced Reader Copy in exchange for an honest review. Kat is a medical doctor, trained to save lives but then she is thrown into a situation where she has to fight for her life and her patients’ life and use any means necessary. Megan Mitcham has once again weaved a great story with suspense, romance, humour and bullets flying action. The characters consist of a strong intelligent female that is not a damsel in distress, a sexy cocky male with just the right amount of alpha male personality and some well know characters from previous Base Branch novels. This book is well written and one is drawn into the story from the first page. Captor Mine is a definite must read!

It is so well-written and keeps you enthralled from the first paragraph. I cannot wait to see what Ms. Mitcham sends out next. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book in exchange for a free copy.

Kat takes a sabbatical from her job as a physician to do her father’s bidding and save a man’s life. Her father tells her the man is dangerous, but then why is she locked in the same rooms with him with a guard stationed at the door? After weeks in a coma with only her patient and her thoughts, when Hunter finally awakens, Kat starts to believe there’s a lot more to the story. What follows is a dangerous journey with two unlikely allies. Everything Kat has always believed about her family comes into question, and she has to make some hard decisions about who to trust.

As we’ve come to expect from Ms. Mitcham’s work, this one has it all – adrenaline-inducing suspense, action-packed drama, devastating betrayal, shocking surprises, intense passion and smoking-hot chemistry. The premise for this story is uniquely brilliant, and the story is one of non-stop, gripping action from the first page to the last. Kat and Hunter are both amazing characters full of depth and complexity, and their standalone story is the perfect conclusion to a phenomenal series!

I have been waiting for this story since "Variations". When I read that story, I cried when Hunter went MIA. I just knew that he had to still be alive. Do I get too attached to characters? Yes, but that is a result of a great writer and series. Needless to say I devoured this book in one sitting( the family was warned to leave me alone!). Was it worth the wait? Yes! Hunter's "accident" has left him in a dangerous situation and his only hope is from a surprise source. Katrin is used to her father's cold treatment but his keeping her captive is a new twist. Who is this mystery patient her father wants her to save? What will happen when Hunter wakes up? Who can Katrin trust? Will Hunter's "brothers" at Base Branch accept his relationship with Katrin-the daughter of their enemy?

The personal familial betrayal was gut wrenching, ultimate callous leader. Strong hero meets innocent heroine made for a lump in the throat read. Slightly different storyline from the Base Branch series is a good blend of intrigue and romance. Highly enjoyable read.

From capture and betrayal to happily ever after

This book takes us from being held as captives at an opulent mansion to betrayal by those who should be closest to finally achieving a happily ever after. The heroine of this story is amazingly strong and meets and overcomes every obstacle that is in her path. The hero has his own obstacles to overcome and he has to decide whether to trust someone who should be an enemy. This was a emotional story with so many awesome characters that made it so great. I highly recommend this book.

So I didn’t know that this book was In The middle of the series. This made a difference to some of the characters and how they interact together. It was good writing but I’m not sure if I will read more of them.

Wow! Megan Mitcham has penned another winning must read in Captor Mine (Base Branch Series Book 13), the amazing story of agent Hunter Masters and surgeon Katrin Royan. Secrets abound in this edge-of-your-seat suspense story of two strangers thrown together under mysterious circumstances. These two great characters have a lot to learn about each other, and are surprised to realize they each have a lot yet to learn about themselves as well. Career focused Hunter and Katrin are both taken completely by surprise at the connection they feel for each other. The chemistry between these two is almost palpable, but they have seemingly insurmountable obstacles to overcome if they are to have a future together. First they have to survive their current situation. Captor Mine is an action packed romance with plenty of heat. I’ve been waiting not so patiently for Hunter’s story and I knew it would take a unique and very strong woman to hold on to this battle hardened soldier, and Ms. Mitcham created Hunter’s perfect match in Katrin. Unfortunately, she is the daughter of the notorious criminal mastermind Base Branch has been hunting. They will have to depend on each other to survive, a concept foreign to both of these independent characters.
This is truly a fantastic story and definitely going on my keeper shelf. I’m sad that this is the last book in the Base Branch Series, but I have no doubt Ms. Mitcham’s future endeavors will be just as great as this series. Every book in the Base Branch Series is full of suspense, action, and plenty of steamy romance. Captor Mine is book 13 and is a standalone, but of course, I recommend starting at the beginning with Enemy Mine, book 1. If that seems daunting, then I at least recommend reading Variations, book 9, which is Oliver and Marina’s story and tells how Hunter got into the predicament he finds himself in at the beginning of this book. But the reader won’t be lost without having read any of the previous books. Captor Mine wraps up the series perfectly and it was nice to catch up with a lot of the characters from earlier books. Thanks Ms. Mitcham for an amazing adventure!

OMG! I was captivated by the first sentence in this book. At first I didn't know who Kat was working on since she called him "Pete" and the first few chapters were mainly about Kat. Once Hunter finally woke up, it got more intense from there. I knew something was off with Kat and Tor - just didn't realize how sick Tor was. Not getting to see any of Hunter's "family" until close to the end of the book, it was interesting on how Kat & Hunter's love came to be. FANTASTIC job Megan! I would highly recommend this book!

I received this book as an advanced copy and would highly recommend the book!
