The Wild Ones #1

Becoming a Vincent

Rate this book
When you live in a place where “turbo speed” internet is a slight step above dial-up, men carry on nine-year beard-growing challenges out of stubborn pride, and your brothers do things like nail all your panties to the outside of your cabin just for funsies, you tend to be a little crazy. You can call it a "locational" hazard, if you will.

That’s Tomahawk for you.

We rank people based on just how crazy they are. And the four craziest families in town are called the Wild Ones.
I’m on the bottom tier of those, so technically I’m not as crazy as the other Wild Ones. In fact, if it wasn’t for my brothers and their endless antics, I wouldn’t be considered a Wild One at all. Ahem. Sure. We’ll go with that.

Anyway, I have a best friend who endures it all with me. Benson Nolans is my one, constant favorite person.
Without him, I’d probably go really crazy, and not the fun kind. It’d be ridiculous, after three years of a flawless friendship, to mess that all up by falling for him.

I mean, even if we did get a little too close one night, it’d be reckless endangerment. Even if we did suddenly feel the chemistry that’s always been there and stop toeing the line, it’d be a foolish risk to take.

It’d be stupid to start hoping a really fun, but completely irrational, night with zero inhibitions might accidentally happen.
Really stupid…

Right?

Seriously, I enjoyed every second of this book.

There was no angst...
No manufactured drama...

description

Just some crazy ass characters...
...in a crazy hilarious made-up place...
...with some crazy as fuck "Wild One" rules.

description

Not a DAMN thing.
I wish I could live there.
I would totally fit in.

I want a water canon so bad.
SO bad.

description

And Benson.
I want Benson.
Hard.

But anycray, I love C.M. Owens' MC Club series and lots of my friends had a star party with this thing, so I snagged it up. So glad I did and can't WAIT for the next one.

Oh. My. God. Hahahahahaha! I LOVED it! I laughed my ass off.

It was totally silly, utterly ridiculous and funny as hell with such a refreshingly unique storyline and quirky, lovable characters.

It’s like a drug. You think you’re just having fun but, once you’re done, you realize you’re addicted - you can’t stop thinking about it and you want more.

Can’t wait to meet the other three corners of crazy :)

I asked my friends if they had any funny book recommendations and Umaiya told me try this one and said I could thank her later.
Well, THANK YOU, UMAIYA!!!

Best idea since someone thought of adding synthetic cheese to macaroni!

In case you are thinking to yourself, "I've sent Jilly recommendations before. She never read them."
Well, I should tell you that I never look at that recommendation list thingy here. There are hundreds of them, but I'm lazy. So... eh. Too much work. But, if you tell me in person (ie: write it in a comment thread), I will usually check it out. Usually.

Okay, so this series is so utterly awesome that I've read all three books that are out so far and just came up for air to start my reviews. They are so funny that I was laughing like a hysterical idiot on book three at 2:30 am last night and waking up my family. Tears were streaming down my face.

This first one, strangely, might even be the least funniest, and it's hilarious. They actually get funnier as you go because this town is simply insane. The best part is that they don't even realize just how crazy they are either.

Business as usual.

So, we meet Lilah, a crazy girl who lives in Crazytown. She is bummed out that she has no one to date because all of the guys there have been in a beard-growing competition for the past nine years. They aren't even allowed to trim them or anything. So, as far as she knows, none of them are attractive. Of course, it's hard to tell because... beards.

So, don't be picturing this:

Picture this:

Lilah's aunt decides to set her up with a new guy in town who doesn't have a beard (yet). Spotting the noob is really easy here. He's gorgeous and she can see his face, but her best friend - a guy with a beard - is acting strangely jealous.

One thing leads to another and her bestie ends up shaving his beard, and holy crap, he is hot under all of that hair! The girls in town go crazy and are lining up at his door, with baked goods. Lilah needs to stake her claim quickly.

Lilah also has two brothers, so when they realize that there is a relationship starting to simmer, they need to do what all protective brothers do.... if they are batshit crazy, that is. There is an epic water-battle. With cannons. And maybe explosives. But, that's okay because that might help wash away some of the paintball paint that their crazy neighbors pelted them with just for boating by their land....

Really, it's like the level of crazy happening in this book is so out-there and hilarious that there is almost no way to do it justice by trying to explain. Just read it when you are in the mood to laugh.

What a funny and entertaining story! The small town of Tomahawk is a very unique place indeed!!! The people who live in this town are also very unique!! There are a group of individuals that call themselves the “Wild Ones,” and believe me; I wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end of their pranks!!! They have water cannons shooting at one another, and the brothers of our heroine hung her panties up outside her front yard!!! There are so many antics going on that there is never a dull moment!!!

I can’t forget to mention there is a great romance thrown into this gem of a book also! Benson and Lilah have been close friends for three years! Watch what happens when their friendship becomes more!!!

This is a hilarious series with romance and sexy scenes rolled up all in one to make a super, entertaining, feel good read! Sometimes we need a nice lighthearted, feel good book to take us out of the stress of “real life!” This is the series that will do just that!

5 Because it's Tomahawk Stars

That feeling you get when you take a chance on a book that's been sitting on your kindle for forever, and you LOVE IT!!

 photo happy_zpspa8zqyth.gif

It was so much fun and now I just want to be a 'Wild One' or I'd settle for just being Benson's neighbour ;) He is panty melting HOT!

When a book starts out with the heroine stuck up a tree holding a big stick trying to scare off a mumma cougar, you just know it's going to be a fun ride.

 photo pumapants_zps9wzembhi.jpg

Lilah Vincent is one strong, feisty and crazy chick! I loved her relationship with her brothers and how loyal she was to her 'corner'. The things her brothers get up to, I would have killed them if they were my brothers. Not Lilah, she just thought up cunning and vicious ways to get them back.

Then we have the great beard challenge, so awesome!! I loved how it had been so long since the challenge started that they didn't even know what each other looked like without the beards. Don't get me started on the reactions of the single women in town when the challenge was finally over, hilarious!

 photo feelingbeard_zpstu5dtc3e.gif

I really liked how Benson and Lilah have been friends for years and had fallen in love without even knowing it, even if everybody else could see it.

The small town feel is great, the characters are hilarious and OTT crazy. The romance is hot and the plot was so much fun.

If you are looking for a light hearted fun book, I highly recommend this one.

What does a flag depicting a dead chipmunk, a nine year beard growing contest, and a water cannon have in common? They all appear in this crazy, fun book! The town and the people in this book are kind of nuts and I am all for it. I greatly enjoyed this, so if you're looking for something light-hearted and romantic, pick this one up. I'm reading the next book in this series ASAP. Thanks Jilly for bringing this series to my attention through your awesome reviews :)

What a fun read! It was totally hysterical at times. I absolutely loved Benson (though he did keep a few secrets I wasn't happy about a little too long and you just know they're going to blow up in your face). But, I loved how he just "got" Lilah's brand of crazy. He got it, he accepted and he loved it.

I loved Lilah too. She was crazy but you see a normal softer side to her too.

Like I said, it was just a fun book and I'm looking forward to more in the series.

That was hilarious. Some crazy fun, indeed! I enjoyed my time with this book.

My actual grading is 3,5 stars. Too bad we are not allowed to give half points here. I hate lowering or raising my actual rating.

OK, let's talk about the book. Actually, I've now realized that I was too late to start a book by C.M. Owens, but better late than never, right?

"Becoming a Vincent" is the first book in The Wild Ones series. It is a book that is "too light" with really funny characters.

There is this town called Tomahawk, where crazy families live. Their concept of fun or revenge is a bit immature but still funny, nevertheless.

*********************************************

The book is short, 150 pages. It is told in dual point of view. Some other characters that will appear as heroes/heroines in the following books are introduced in this book so you'd better read them in order if you are interested.

*********************************************

Do not expect something deep and meaningful here. This is not a very emotional romance with depth in it. It is a nice pastime, that's all. It has some hot moments but the book is aimed at being hilarious and it really made me either smile or LMAO. Goal achieved, I guess :)

Therefore, whenever you need a break from some sad or dark reads and need a very light and very fun book, you can try this one.

*********************************************

Here are some quotations from it...

In Tomahawk, we rank people based on just how crazy you are. And the four craziest families in town are called the Wild Ones.

***

How did I end up in a tree, wielding a stick like a mythical sword, while a cougar decides if I’m worth the trouble of mauling to death or not?

Two reasons: Hale and Killian Vincent.

Those are my brothers. I’m one third of a set of fraternal triplets. My theory is that all the oxygen in the womb was cut off from the two jackasses who are responsible for my current predicament, and I’m the only one who escaped with functioning brain cells.
...
The cougar groans or growls or both. I’m not really sure. I don’t speak cougar, but I think that was a sound of frustration, and fortunately, she decides not to shimmy up the tree after me.

***

My aunt has been trying to marry me off since I turned eighteen. That was six years ago. She’s old school.

I’m surprised she waited until I was eighteen, if I’m being honest. If it’d been up to her, and if I had been more mature— pfft —I’d have been married by sixteen and popping out babies by eighteen, like my mother. But it wasn’t up to her. Still isn’t. And I’m still not mature enough for tiny human making.

***

Damn dead chipmunks and their level of crazy. Lilah’s crazy as hell too, but she’s also my crazy girl. She never dates the cuntwads her aunt brings to her like plated edibles. She always sticks with me.

Obviously she’s mine. Everyone knows it—even Paul who also pissed me off today. Why the actual fuck did she wear that outfit? It was practically see-through. Okay, that’s an exaggeration, but it was very fucking thin, and there wasn’t a lot that could be ignored. Her body was showcased. Her ass was practically begging to be touched. Then those signature combat boots of hers just set it all off like a wet dream.

Every guy out there—sans the married and the family—momentarily forgot she was a Wild One and also forgot she was mine.

Guys around here aren’t going after the Wild Women. Crazy, remember?

***

We both look at my aunt, who is clutching her hands together and staring at us with hearts in her eyes. That weird sound was apparently her vocalizing her excitement and not the sound of a cat losing its tail.

***

He drops to his knees, cupping his balls as his face turns red, and I smile as I wave, reminding him who I am.
Yeah.
That’s right.
I’m a Vincent.
We’re one corner of the Wild Ones.
He really should have seen that coming.
Bastard.

***

Trying to form a response becomes impossible when his head suddenly dips and disappears between my thighs.

One swipe of his tongue has me forgetting the English language.

Two swipes of his tongue has me forgetting my name.

Three swipes of his tongue has me only remembering his name.

***

If I’m in love with Benson, then my life is going to suck even more. Because it hurts to love someone you want to shoot a little.

The book is funny, even hilarious.

And not only because I read it being on vacation and after I drunk 2 beers & 1 Guinness. Ups, Guinness is a beer too.*
So, 3 beers, then I tasted 2 Whiskeys, polished it all with a glass of Chardonnay and secluded it with another shot of Whiskey.
Yes, it was a nice day!
And no, I don't have a problem with alcohol! 🙄

***gif to be added***

The book is funny and not TSTL, but definitely immature.

She wasn't a virgin and she didn't have a crush on him for the last 76 years or so. And he wasn't a womanizer.
Hello!!! Who writes such boring books? 😂
He even was celibate after he became friends with this wild girl.
Yes! Sigh me up!

But then came the drama-lama 😴
Well, they need some drama. Fortunately it wasn't OTT, but it weakened h's character a bit.

I liked it nevertheless.
I will read the next one.

* I hope my dumb joke about Guinness didn't offend anyone. I liked it, really! I even drunk 2 more the day after. *le giggle*
And I didn't make any stupid joke on site like: wow, such a huge espresso and why is it cold? No, I smiled politely and said in my cute English: thank you, darling. It tastes delicious! 😄
Cheers!

Cute, funny, entertaining. Nuff said. Can't wait for the next book in this series.

Told in dual POV (but 85% is from h's POV) and great introduction to a hilarious town and townspeople. I wasn't swooned out of my panties but I sure had a great time reading this. Ended in a HFN, where we know we'll be seeing more of this couple as the series continues.

It was fun, fast paced and a little bit crazy, yes. The characters had good chemistry and I liked how adult the hero acted. I could've lived without some casual cattiness and misogyny though, so here goes my one star.

All in all, if you are looking for something fun to shut off your mind, this one is the kind of book to go for.

“Because it’s Tomahawk.”

This was a crazy quick fun entertaining read. It was so enjoyable.

I love books that takes place in small towns where everyone is in everyone’s business, and this town was so freakin insane with crazy challenges, traditions, and pranks. I also loved the ‘wild ones tips’ at the beginning of every chapter. They were hilarious.

People in Tomahawk are so wild, unique, and CRAZY!
Lilah Vincent is a feisty crazy girl, and Benson is definitely her equal. They have been friends for too long, So what happens when they finally cross the friendship line and admit having feelings for each other?
Something crazy for sure!
Be prepared for a really crazy enjoyable journey to Tomahawk.

*Thank you Ella for recommending this book to be. I really did enjoy it.*

We’re a crazy, somewhat bizarre, certainly wacky town that makes life work and lives it to the fullest.

This was a friends-to-lovers, angst free, bit of heat, whole lotta funny trip to crazy town. And when I say crazy town, I mean fucking CRAZY TOWN... which I abso-freakin'-lutely LURVE! It's seriously like the characters in this book are in a competition to see who can be the bigger nutcase!

description

The love aspect in this story was cute, had some spice, and was fairly predictable. It was the lovely little lake community and it's people who stole the show for me in this book. What a great cast of characters!

descriptiondescription

Our h, Lilah, is one of the town's Wild Ones... she's an unpredictable, sassy chick. The H, Benson, well, he's just a fucking yummy treat... rugged and manly with a sweetness underneath all that beard... mmm, yum! It's a HFN ending with no cliffy. I'm sure we will see more of Lilah & Benson's story in the next book(s). Looking forward to reading more books set in this un-sleepy little lake town. Can't wait to see what shenanigans these folks get into during Liam and Kylie's story! After all, it's Tomahawk!

I want to be a Wild One...

If you're looking for a really entertaining, funny and sexy story, I highly recommend giving Becoming A Vincent a try. Lilah and Benson were perfect together and I loved that their friendship was fully established before they even contemplated a relationship. The people of Tomahawk are a wee bit crazy but completely lovable.

It was a wee bit OTT with their silly shenanigans, but it was all done in fun and never mean spirited...well, not too mean spirited. Pipe bombs, paintball guns and water cannons are the weapons of choice but the old bb guns do have a place when it comes to protecting yourself.

I found this author when I started another series, All The Pretty Monsters, she wrote under a different pen name, Kristy Cunning. Her writing is very entertaining, funny and sexy. This book is the first under the pen name, C.M. Owen's and will not be my last.

I did write a way more comprehensive review but unfortunately, Goodreads went a bit skewy-iff when I hit save and I lost it. All I can say is that I mostly laughed, had a few sniffle worthy pages that I easily got through and finished with a big goofy smile on my face.

I've already bought book 2 and I can't wait to start.

This was so fun to read. It was carefree and silly and I loved every minute of it. I went into it blind, only having read Vee’s review and I’m so glad I did it.

So many crazy scenes and such lovely main and secondary characters. Small town craziness in another whole level. It was epic. It was a short novel, a simple romance between two friends without the usual drama and miscommunication.

Long story short, I loved it, if you’re saturated, if you need a laugh, or just need to breathe a little from heavier books, this might be you go to book!

I don’t understand all the rave reviews. All of these books got close to 5 star avg on Amazon!1 WHAT??

I just don’t Get it. It’s not that funny. It’s stupid. Crazy. And stupid crazy and crazy stupid. But NOT FUNNY. I mean, I barely cracked a smile.

There’s no plot, just one string of craziness followed by another. No real character development or real relationship dev. The “drama” was also stupid, convoluted and contrived.

The sex was barely there, nothing more than going thru the motions... I mean...

WHAT IS THERE TO GIVE 5 STARS TO???

I was robbed! I was deceived!!

I want my 99 cents back!!

Oh my gosh, this was so freaking good!!! I swear there were times I was laughing so hard I just about peed myself!

This book was recommended to me a loooong time ago and for one reason or another I put it off until I never thought about it again. When it popped up on a Goodreads challenge, I dusted it off and I am literally kicking myself for being the one reader who hasn’t experienced the Wild Ones!

From the very first pages, this book captured me, made me smile, made me laugh and at times had me tearing up – I love when families come together. Those are all the signs of an amazing read! It’s difficult to explain this book so I’ll start by saying that you’ll want to meet the wacky citizens of Tomahawk. They do things their own way which often skirts the edge of the law and completely bypasses acceptable behavior.

description

This is Lilah and Benson’s story and holy heck did I love everything about them. A friends-to-lovers trope can be tricky and I did worry about this losing some of its charm the further into the relationship it went, but I worried for nothing. Both the hero and heroine are with no one else once they become friends and even if it took some time for them to recognize what they wanted, and already had, their behavior was proof to everyone around them that they were together.

”That, my darling niece, is real love. It’s not always going to slap you in the face, though that kind is amazing too. I would know. But sometimes, it burns you so subtly, that you don’t realize you’re boiling until it’s too late. The water just too a while to heat up with you, kiddo.”

Of course, Lilah, being Lilah, has her own thoughts on the issue of being in love:

”And if I’m in love with Benson, then my life is going to suck even more. Because it hurts to love someone you want to shoot a little.”

description

While we only have a little bit of Benson’s point of view, there was never a question of how he felt or that he was exactly what Lilah needed. He found her crazy to be part of her charm – if a Wild One could have charm – and he displayed enough jealous, possessive moments to make my heart sing.

Lilah, on the other hand, let her freak flag fly free, dead chipmunk and all. She’s discombobulated about her changing feelings for Benson so she deals with it like a normal Vincent would.

”I’m being ridiculous. I can’t stop being his friend even if he does get a girlfriend. I’ll just have to make her life hell – simple task for a girl like me – until she’s gone.
There. Plan made. Problem solved.”

With all the chaos and pandemonium that exist in their corner of Tomahawk, a girl, even a Wild One, has to learn quickly how to handle any given situation. Lilah was more than capable of taking care of unruly business when required, which was often.

Killian is tapping a bat’s end into his palm, and Hale is propped up on a shotgun.
“I’ll give you one minute to get back to your cabin. One minute before I grab the BB gun. Then I’ll have no mercy,” I warn them.”

description

This is a lightning fast read with extremely low angst. We do have a bit of drama and this couple have an issue they have to deal with. But when you’ve got a Wild One as your significant other, it takes more than just talking things through.

”There’s only one way to win back the heart of a Wild One. You have to prove you’re crazy enough to deserve it.”

Despite an epilogue that only gives us a few weeks look into the future, it was hilarious, it was heartwarming and it was perfect. More so when the Author’s note at the end promised so much more to come from this wacky world of Wild Ones. There will be no delay in reading the rest of this series!

Chapter 17 is where I really became invested in the story and the characters. It could be my own personal life, but something clicked for me after that chapter and I didn’t want the blasted book to end.

After I completed the novel I was ready for the next one and was upset to find out that it’s a new series. C.M. Owens needs to get her life together and quick. Her only job is to write about more Wild Ones. Or Chan is going to create her own WILD CORNER!

I usually don't just say one line like this: "I loved it!"

But I m gonna say it here and I 'll even repeat it, if needs be...

I FUCKIN LOVED IT
.😝

Funny, light, entertaining "friends-to-lovers" romance with just a slight notch of the 'wild' side shown in a small town called Tomahawk and the 4 corners of the Wild Ones and the rest of the townies with their 'unusual' and 'unconventional' ways of dealing and settling the score!

Yeah, you don't wanna miss all the fun!

I had a blast while reading about this strange/crazy/special little towon in the middle of nowhere, their habitants and mostly about one of the Wild Ones - Lilah Vincent as we follow the resolvement of the silver lining when she suddenly 'realizes' that her long term friendship with Benson Nolans might just be the 'real thing' and a true romance that came slowly with a spark of mischief sidekicks! *wink*

Yeah, it's a fantastic relief to see we all carry a little bit of crazy in ourselves...

And that's fuckin perfect! OWN IT!

4 "wild" Stars

We’re fierce. We’re loyal. We’re occasionally destructive. We’re undoubtedly wild. Because we’re the Wild Ones.

Initial Thoughts

It's official I want to move to Tomahawk, Washington. The people may be wild, and the men may have intense ass beards, and yet there is an undercurrent of love, affection, and unity within the small lake community. C.M. Owens has also one again wowed me with her ability to write such a great heroine. Not only that, but with Becoming Vincent and the Wild Ones series, she has proven she can create a great community and deftly handle a large cast of characters. Basically what I'm saying is, WHY HAVEN'T I READ THIS SERIES EARLIER??? And on top of that, it doesn't seem like C.M. OWENS is going to be continuing this series - or be writing in general. . .

ANYWHO. . .

A Brief Summary

BECOMING A VINCENT , focuses on Lilah Vincent (one of the 4 "wild" families) and her best friend Benson Nolans (not gonna lie that S in his last name annoyed me). Her and Benson have been friends for 3 years and have become inseparable. However, she doesn't really see him as a true romantic interest (sorta) until he shaves his intense ass beard. See all the men in this town have a "beard growing competition", as you do, that has been going on for NINE FREAKING YEARS. Gentlemen, when you have to pull your beard back to eat, IT IS TIME TO SHAVE. What ensues is a sweet, slightly crazy, romantic comedy of sorts that sees Lilah and Benson pursuing their feelings for one another. In between the sweet romantic moments we witness what it truly means to be dubbed a "wild one".

The Highlights

Lilah Vincent - The "Tame" Wild One ✦ Notice I put tame in "" marks. Hate to break it to you Lilah, but if you shoot your boyfriend in the balls with a BB gun then sorry sis, you're a wild one. However, that violent streak is what made me love Lilah so much. She may not be as crazy as her brothers, but, boy oh boy, you do not want to cross her. As I mentioned above I adore the way C.M. OWENS writes her female characters. While Lilah isn't my favorite (that spot will always belong to Lana Meyers) she still earns my respect. Lilah is both compassionate and caring, while also not being afraid to back up her words with actions. At first I was a little confused why everyone referred to her as "wild" when she seemed pretty normal. . .

Yeahhhhhh I was dead wrong the minute she did this -

Just as he’s about to pull away, I turn around, aim my gun, and shoot Benson right in the nuts.

I realized why she had such a *cough* wonderful reputation. Yeah she's all sweet and nice seeming until you cross her. After that. . .well watch out cause she has a BB and she's not afraid to use it.

Besides Lilah the best thing about this book was hands down the town, and people who resided in Tomahawk, Washington. These people are bat-shit crazy in the best way possible. This is a community who will rally around each other - for example the origin of the beard challenge - while at the same time will unabashedly fuck with each other for fun (i.e. the water cannon). I think my favorite moment came when the town basically told Benson and Lilah that they were getting married, and that Benson will be taking Lilah's last name.

“Instead of building a fifth corner amendment, he’s joining the Vincents, since he and Lilah will be getting married.” Hey! “We actually haven’t decided on that yet,” I interject. “You’ll be getting married,” Vick says dismissively.

It really is a testament to C.M. OWENS'S writing that I was able to come to love and connect with this community within just a few chapters. I came for the romance, and stayed for the "Wild Ones" of Tomahawk.

The Romance - AKA. Becoming Wild ✦ I really liked the romance between Benson and Lilah. It was actually really sweet and became the grounding point of the story. Basically in between some. . .HIJINKS. . .we get a lovely friends-to-lovers story. And, I have to say this was one of the better done friends-to-lovers romances that I've read. I liked how both Benson and Lilah met and gradually came to fall in love with each other. While we didn't get to see their first 3 years of friendship they already seemed to have this beautiful connection. For Benson Lilah's brand of crazy was perfect for him. And for Lilah Benson was someone she could both lean on and count on to be her partner.

You’ve been in love for who knows how long. Having sex is just one small part of the relationship equation, and it has no effect on whether or not you’re in love.”

Benson Nolans

“Benson Nolans,” Vick starts, looking around at everyone else, “has apparently gone wild.”

Man I don't know what it is, but while I liked Benson I still didn't love him as much as I loved Lilah. I think it's because he played more of the "straight-man" to her "wildness". BECOMING A VINCENT was very much Lilah and Tomahawk's story. Benson remained a bit of a mystery for most of the book, and we didn't get the answers to those questions until the end. However, despite me not loving him, I still liked him. He had his moments of "crazy", and the way he adored Lilah was super sweet. He's not the star of the book, but he is a solid hero/character.

“I’ve been in love with you for over a year, Lilah Vincent. You’re a different brand of crazy than I realized if you think I’m going to let you go now.”

Plus I mean the way he won back Lilah was both hilarious, and showed just how well he knew her.

And he won me over the second he took my brothers out with a freaking water cannon.

Why Only 4 Stars

I Wanted More. . . ✦ I've been trying to put my finger on why this was only a 4 star read, and I think I figured it out. While this was Lilah and Benson's story it also felt like an origin story for the town of Tomahawk itself. Basically to me it felt like C.M. OWENS had the hard task of both introducing Lilah, and the crazy wonderful town of Tomahawk. Due to that, I felt like there could've been a bit more time dedicated to developing Benson and Lilahs love story.

In Closing

BECOMING A VINCENT , was such a fun book! I had a great time reading about Lilah, Benson, her crazy brothers, the town of Tomahawk, and everything in between. While I may have wanted a bit more time with Lilah and Benson I still throughly enjoyed what we got. If you're a fan of "small-town" books then this series is perfect for you. Plus I mean water cannons and BB guns. Does it get any better than that?

Lilah is in cutoff jean shorts and a “Doc Holiday” T-shirt, as she shoots Hale with a BB, simultaneously kicking Killian in the stomach while he’s on the ground.

OH.. MY.. GOD!!
Holy shit, this was such a fun ride!

It’s insane.. It’s surreal and insane..
And once again…

I pretty much laughed throughout the whole damn book. It’s one of the funniest books that I’ve read in a long while.
“If your ass catches on fire, jump in the lake. That’s what it’s there for”
I was laughing so hard at that scene, that my sister -who was sleeping in the room next to me- came to throw a pillow at my face.

In the end, I could only leave you with the immortal words of Dan Pearce, “Don’t be offended when people tell you you’re crazy. Use it as an excuse to do whatever you want!”

I think I've mentioned it in one of my previous reviews too that I have seen crazy. In my family, friends and sometimes in the mirror too.

So, what I wanted to say is- me and The Wild Ones? We would've been great chums, inside each other's business all the time. And though, the book was funny, more than that it was fun- crazy fun.

I can easily use these to tell you about the Wild Ones-

..............and this would be all us ladies.

Now the main thing that I liked- the relationship between the siblings was amazing! (I'm still not happy that Hale and Killian don't have books, but oh what the heck.)

Benson- now this is the part where I say that I love the man but I don't. Lilah he's all yours darling. I don't exactly like him even, he was okay for me. He had his moments (like twice, I swayed) but apart from that he was really simple and bland compared to Lilah. Lilah was like a firecracker- bright, smart, quick and of course- left a burn.
But their relationship was still nice and I would've liked a back story too, but unfulfilled wishes are kind of a trend in today's time. And I'm not talking about books.

This book wasn't about the substance of the plot as far as I could tell and the author has mentioned it in the end too. This was intended to be light, fun and a break from her dark books and it stood fully on that. So this was great for a break and fun read but if you want something with real depth and all the feels, this one is not for you. Yet.

PS: you do realize that Hale and Killian can as a group be referred to as Kale right? No one likes kale but you sure would love them.

This was recommended though one of the discounted books emails I get and the blurb just appealed. For 99p you can't go wrong I thought, one clicked, started it and read it in one sitting.

It's whacked, crazy, snort-worthy, crazy and did I say whacked and I laughed my bloody socks off. Just what I needed to get me out of my slump. No angst, no drama, no ridiculous manufactured anything. Just a romp through crazyland.

I absolutely need me a Benson of my own.

5 "This is Tomahawk" stars

Where has this been all my life?!

How am I JUST hearing about it??

I don't have words. It was just that awesome and simple and crazy and easy and fantastic and high of a book!
I am honoured to have had the absolute privilege of reading this and yes, like my friend Anna says in her review of the next book,
"I want Killian's book.
And Kai's.
And George Malone's.
And his four nephews'.
And Hale's.
And Krysta's.
And Nila's.

Fuck it, I want a book for EVERY character in this crazy-ass town. That's like 40+ books. Don't care.

I'm counting on you, C. M. Owens..."

Actually forget the books, I want a Wild One! I wanna live in freakin' Tomahawk! And I'm half introvert!

Honestly, I had so much fun reading this! It wasn't anything extraordinary, but it was a good time. It made me smile and laugh out loud, and even though some of the antics were over the top, it just worked.

"Welcome to Tomahawk. The land of a hundred unruly beards, and everyone's own individual brand of crazy."

"We're a crazy, somewhat bizarre, certainly wacky town that makes life work and lives it to the fullest.
We're fierce.
We're loyal.
We're occasionally destructive.
We're undoubtedly wild.
Because we're the Wild Ones.
And we're just getting started."

Umaiya *Insignificant September* Thank You!!! I freaking loved this book. Ate it up as fast as I could.
The humor.
The romance.
The story.
This is the BEST unexpected pick-me-up I have ever read. And I didn’t even need it. I’ve been on a roll this year (2019) so far.

C.M. Owens… I’m coming after your books. You’re on my radar, and I’m tracking.

I love the friends-to-lovers trope, and this one is a GOLD medalist. Lilah and Benson are perfect for each other, and their chemistry is off the charts. No drama lama for these two. If your looking for a light easy read with a ton of humor and two awesome main characters, then curl up with a warm blanket and get ready to have your boat rocked. My cheeks hurt from all the smiling and LOLing I’ve been doing (I think I need Dermal fillers now), and I think the 100+ book highlights are proof of that.
