Beverly Snow lived a charmed life until a car accident when she was eighteen. She lost her father and sister, and her mother became a quadriplegic all in one night. After giving up her own life for twenty years to care for her mother, she’s at loose ends in the midst of her grief with her mother’s passing. When her last promise to her mother turned into her agreeing to an arranged marriage to a stranger and moving to Alaska, she’s not sure what to think. Colin Geller has spent his entire adult life knowing two things. He loved being a park ranger at Denali National Park in Alaska, and he didn’t want children. He requests that Dr. Lachele send him a woman who was comfortable with not having children. When he sees Beverly for the first time, he knows that all his dreams have come true. When something happens to make him rethink his life choices, he’s devastated. Will he be able to deal with his new wife’s choices? Or will her insistence on something he opposes keep them apart forever?
Anchored in Alaska is a touching romance of two people who while past the first bloom of youth still want that elusive partner for life. Beverly has nursed her mother after the accident that killed her father and sister. For twenty years she’s been at her mother’s side. Now, after her mother’s passing, she realizes that she’s given a deathbed promise for an arranged marriage through the lovely friend and matchmaker Dr. Lachele. She’s given up her life and her mother intends for her to finally have freedom and happiness. At first unsettled about the idea, soon Beverly will leave New York City behind for the adventure of the Alaskan wilderness or at least for marriage to a park ranger. She’s contracted to stay one year, even if things don’t work out as planned. And at first it seems that Beverly has found what she dreamed of, right up until she discovered that one important part of her arranged marriage is non-negotiable as far as her husband is concerned.
Colin and Beverly fit, they make a believable couple in unusual circumstances. There is great love to be found in this story as well as greater sadness as well. And to go into to that would be giving away spoilers, although I’m sure your imagination can take you there. Watching Colin and Beverly deal with the change in their marriage is both heartwarming and heartbreaking. Yet, they had found love and neither was willing to give that up so they stuck together and let life lead them. It’s a story that captures the imagination, and certainly the emotions. I would happily recommend Anchored in Alaska to any Contemporary Romance reader who enjoys an unusual plot, likable characters and and emotional love story.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
I loved this book, she did a great job putting you into the story, grabbing you and not wanting to put the book down. I am glad I tried her out, don’t hesitate pick up the book and start reading!
Hero: Collin Geller- park ranger at Denali National Park in Alaska, Heroine: Beverly Snow-Promises dying mother she will marry. Reading Enjoyment:4.5* wonderful writing, tt is a touching & emotional with great characters and great ending. He didn't want children and she thought she couldn't have children then oops A wonderfully sweet HEA.
What a wonderful love story. I couldn't put this book down after I started reading it, because it was so good. Beverly and Colin met for the first time on their wedding day and signed a contract with the matchmaking service that they had to stay together for a full year to see if they would fall in love. Neither of them had any family, had never been married, were in their late 30 ' s and early 40's and didn't want children. Beverly was raised as a rich girl in New York, and Colin was a park ranger in Alaska who lived in a small cabin where Beverly moved into after their marriage. They almost immediately fell in love but something happened that almost ended their marriage before the year was up. You will have to read the book to find out what happened, but it will be good time spent to read it. I highly recommend this book and other books by this author.
I love this series and this was one of the best so far! Most are on kindle unlimited so get that and start binge reading!!! Read her other series too...river end ranch (with other authors), mail order Mounties (with other authors) and the mail order brides. The are great and must read too! All on kindle unlimited! I am sure I am missing more!
This book can be read as a stand alone. All have a happy ending and no cheating. Each has an obstacle to overcome that provides some drama but it is in no way over the top.
I highly recommend this author. She is a must read for me. I have read all her books except the ones not on kindle unlimited. When she releases a new book it goes to top of my reading list!
This is my first book by this author and certainly won't be my last. Just a delightful story about Beverly who's quadriplegic mother just died. Beverly had cared for her mother for 20 years and now had nobody. A friend of her mother's had a matchmaking business. She fixed Beverly up with Colin, who is a park ranger in Alaska. She travels to Alaska and marries Colin. The only stipulation was no children and Beverly had been told she couldn't have children. When she immediately becomes pregnant she waits months to tell him. Will he throw her out when she finally tells him about the baby? Great editing and character development but a little too clean for my tastes.
Dr. Lache!e strikes again. Beverly has led a secluded life caring for her mother after an accident takes the lives of her father and sister. Fulfilling her mother's last wish, she contact s Dr. Lachele and soon finds herself on her way to Alaska to marry a complete stranger. Colin is a bachelor who has worked for the Denali Park Service for 20 years. He decides that the one thing missing in his life is a wife. His only stipulation is no children. Man makes plans while the fates laugh. What will happen when baby makes three?
This is the first book I've read in this series. What a sweet love story. 2 strangers meet at the altar on their wedding day, didn't even know each other's names. Of course, there'd be problems in the marriage, and then there's the ONE BIG problem could make or break their marriage. Resolving marital problems with a spouse you love, respect, extending kindness even when you don't want to. . .all secrets to a good marriage. Throw in some humor, and it's a HEA for this clean sweet romance. I couldn't put the book down once I started reading. I highly recommend.
This is such a great series and I love that crazy purple-haired matchmakers. Colin is alone in the world and contacts the matchmaker. His big stipulation is he doesn't want children. Beverly has been taking care of her invalid mother for years and her mother's dying request is for her to contact the matchmaker. She has been told that she can't have children so she an Colin are a good match. But things have a way of not turning out as planned. I love this story and the ending of this book was perfect.
Anchored in Alaska is a sweet romance about a modern day arranged marriage. The couple first meets at the altar. I enjoyed Beverly’s and Colin’s love story. My takeaway theme from the story is when you love someone, you love them no matter what unexpected circumstances arise. You may need a little time to process, but ultimately love overcomes. Thank you Kirsten for your sweet book. I love the series.
I have been a fan of Kirsten Osbourne for years and always read her new books. I have never once been disappointed. She delivers a story of loss, love, gain, rejection and acceptance with this book. I anxiously await the next in this series. I know I will not be disappointed. I highly recommend this series and her other series to anyone who loves to read books where you laugh, cry and get involved with the characters.
I loved the banter between Colin and Beverly. They were married at the alter without having known anything about each other. She was from New York city and he lives in Alaska, would she adapt to living there? What would happen if the one thing they both agreed they didn't want, happened? There were a lot of questions they were going to have to work through. I loved the characters.
This was a wonderful story with honesty..love and stepping into a new world of Alaska. It make me want to visit Alaska and see the beauty described in this read. It would be nice..if we can go back with another character and revisit this town and hopefully and update on Sara growing up.
To nurse and be beside her mother, to find with selling the home they had. She had arranged a marriage for her, having given if up, by staying with her. A last wish from her mother how could she refuse. A hug, made her realize she hadn’t had any in twenty years, how to get use to it, and this friend of her mother is suggesting a marriage. With the advice to laugh, and live each moment.
She’s been taking care of her Mom for twenty years but now she alone. The MatchMaker friend of Mother’s finds her a husband, in Alaska. They do well until she gets pregnant, they didn’t want a baby. But he finds out that loving her means he will love his daughter too
This is a great book, about a little older couple, who adjusted well to each other. Beverly had to move from Manhattan, NY to Alaska. She was up for the challenge and things went really well in this marriage that was set up. Everything was very realistic and you in turn root for them as they work through it all.
At the alter series is fun. Everyone gets everything they ever wanted and live happily ever after. This one has a catch, Colin at 42 thinks he is entirely too old to start a family. But you have to read it to find out what happens in the end.
Colin, tired of being alone, contacts Dr Lachelle. He’s 43 and winter is really long In Alaska. Beverly has spent the last twenty years taking care of her quadriplegic mother, but when her mother dies, Dr. LaChelle, who attends their church, has a suggestion as to how to move forward. For all intents and purposes, their relationship is amazing until one tiny wrench is thrown at them. The author does an smazing job of moving the story forward and bringing it to a heartfelt conclusion.
Who doesn't love a story about falling in love? But will this match make it the whole year? Irreconcilable differences not with standing. Kirsten knows how to get the best out of her characters.
This book feel short, like SO many of the excellent books I've read....by about 24 chapters. This was such good reading I truly did NOT want it to come to an end
I loved this story. And I would recommend Anchored in Alaska to everyone! It held my attention all the way through. Read it in two days. It is a wonderful story!
A Wonderful Story that has a Beautiful Ending! This story touched my heart. It was about a decision that was made out of ignorant fear, but needed to be changed by reality & Love!
Loved this quirky late in life love story. Fun twists, cute story line and sweet dialog. I enjoyed this and thought the author did a great job writing this entertaining story
A sweet story with meat, that flowed from start to finish. I enjoyed how the story started out as unbelievable, yet become so believable. I'll read more of Kirsten Osbourne's books.
What a wonderful and enjoyable book. I love Alaska and have been lucky enough to have visited the state . This book of love and my Alaska made me enjoy reading from page one to the end.
I liked the fast pace of the book. I definitely would go back and read the first in the series as I just read this first (13). Clean with humor. Two qualities I look for in a book.
He wanted just a wife, but God had a surprise in store for him. She thought she couldn't get pregnant so didn't take any precautions and had a surprise in store. He had to make up his mind if he was going to keep her or not.
Telling the match maker what he wanted was easy. He didn't like kids and besides, he was too old to start that. They are both in for a surprise. Can they reconcile their differences?
This is a wonderful story that I enjoyed very much! It's about Beverly honoring her mother's last request, to let Dr Lachele find her a husband. Collin lives in Alaska he is a park ranger who works and lives at Denali National park.
You always put quite the spin on your books. Yes, it's awesome as always. Fun, fun, fun! Wish they would've stayed with her 1st choice of name for the babe. Coleen is my middle name. Don't see it often.
