TIMELESS ROMANCE FOR THE BUSY READERSomething Old - Mr. Darcy's Bad Day How could one simple decision change the course of a man's life? In this fast-paced novella set in Regency England, Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy of Pemberley in Derbyshire and Darcy House in London, finds himself unwillingly, or possibly, willingly attached to Miss Elizabeth Bennet. With visions of their life ahead, he presses forward until everyone in her family and his are finally convinced they are a match made in heaven. Or, are they?Something New - The Perfect Gift In this sweet modern variation of Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice, Fitzwilliam Darcy has been his usual prideful/arrogant self and Elizabeth Bennet would rather have gum stuck to her shoe than be stuck in a room with him. When the turmoil of having a pre-teen sibling reaching puberty knocks Darcy off his pedestal, his only saving grace will be the one woman who confounds him, teases him, torments him, and intrigues him. They say love is blind but is it totally insensible as well?Something Later - A Forever Kind of Love In this Regency variation of Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice, Fitzwilliam Darcy's eldest son sets out to seek a bride. Alexander Fitzwilliam Darcy is the spitting image of his father--in looks, temperament, and his inability to impress a woman not particularly wanting to be impressed. Darcy, against the loving advice of his intelligent wife, decides to help his son along. In the process, the forever kind of love our dear couple has for each other is displayed as tenderness meets stubbornness and affection meets determination. Come along for the bumpy ride between Darcy & Elizabeth as love blooms at Pemberley--or does it?Something True - For Pemberley TRIGGER Chapter One has a FAILED sexual assault with no description of the attack itself. However, the emotional impacts are felt throughout the story. An attempted assault leaves Miss Elizabeth Bennet seeking tender comfort from the man she had, at one time, abhorred. Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy's gentle compassion fosters a budding affection as the couple grows to acknowledge each other's weaknesses and failings while recognizing their own. As our heroine struggles with the aftermath of that life-changing event, we discover a strength of character we can admire and emulate. Not even the vile Mr. Wickham can keep Elizabeth Bennet from her happily-ever-after with the man of her dreams--Mr. Darcy. These stories were published individually in early 2017 and are still available to purchase one at a time.

What is better than a Christie Capps P&P story?

The chance to re-read four of those stories, of course.
I loved these stories the first time through.
I got a warm, gentle feeling the second time around.

What a lovely bouquet of short stories. Heart-warming, sweet, romantic and highly entertaining but first and foremost, hilariously funny. If you want to read something that will make you laugh out loud, this it!

Mr Darcy's bad day 5*:

Hilariously funny, regency variation with some very surprising twist and turns.

It's hard to write a summary without spoiling your read but I can reveal that Mr Darcy has a small accident which result in a laugh out loud pouting scene... Oh, and it is a donkey involved...

The perfect gift 5*:

Another hilariously funny modern story from this author.
Mr Darcy needs a little help with his sister entering in to puberty...
Elizabeth to the rescue, luckily and the minion boxers was hilarious not to mention the lying dog creek...
Caroline is as unpalatable as ever though...

A forever kind of love 5*:

Heart-warming tale of the Darcy's as they are in their middle age. Darcy is having somewhat of a mid life crisis and what better way to attack this conundrum than to meddle with his offspring affairs... Darcy as a matchmaking father was both funny and adorable at the same time.
The continuance of the love between ODC was especially lovely to read but their offspring was a joy as well.
The ending brought tears to my eyes.

For Pemberley 4*:

Heart-wrenching tale of an attempted rape and the victim is Elizabeth. There is a warning at the beginning of the story...
It was actually just as heart-warming as it was heart-wrenching as Darcy steps in as her knight in shining armour. It is beautifully written and tugged severely on my heart strings but it did feel a bit rushed towards the end. Would have loved to see it elaborated a bit more...

Heartily recommend this book!

A wonderful set of stories for a Quick Read

Truly a delightful set of quick reads. It was difficult reading the final story at times, but inspiring towards the end.

The first three stories of this collection were light with just the right amount of angst.

These first stories took us from the familiar story of Mr.Darcy and Miss Elizabeth, to the Darcy family they forge together. I especially enjoyed a glimpse of their children, the fist born son, in particular. This story was a "hoot". The author wisely cautioned certain readers away from the fourth emotionally charged story. Although touching on a traumatic incident I appreciated the carefully crafted character's actions in support of the effected Miss Elizabeth. This collection was certain well done. Thank you Christie Capps.

Was not for me, but I am a fan of "this" author.

Just was not my cup of tea. I am sure that I am stuck in the mud. This is a gifted author, and I will read all of her books before I am done.

Trigger warning. I own this set, but this time only wanted to read FOR PEMBERLY, for which I also have an audio book. It no doubt sounds odd but this is what I consider a comfort read. If you know the premise of the story you'll understand why I say it is odd. The story is so well written and the subject matter is handled beautifully. As the author claims before the story starts, you can tell she spent a great deal of time researching the issue of rape and its victims.

This version of a Pride & Prejudice story portrays Darcy as absolutely the finest Hero. I loved this guy so much. Since a very big and horrifying event happens right before the start of the story, obviously our dear girl goes through some significant challenges to her 'spirit always rising,' but it does rise even though she has to fight harder for it this time. And she is a fighter who conquers.

I love this story. I have to listen to the audio book once or twice a year. You can now listen to this book free on YouTube on Joy King's channel.

Update. I said in my last sentence; once or twice a year. It's probably more like 6 or 7 times a year. Seriously, this story is heartbreaking but triumphant. On one hand it is so unrealistic, with our dear boy by rushing in to be the absolute Hero, the kind of person everyone who has suffered a huge trauma like Lizzy has or multiple other kinds of shockingly painful experiences should have. Many don't.

On the other hand, it is REALLY realistic as to the after period of such trauma in how Lizzy reacts with her grief and anger. Even some of the rather outrageous things. Darcy is so darned stalwart here, you can't help but fall in love with him over again. This is why I find it a comfort read.

The other stories in this collection can't be beat. This author is a gift! Whether it is under this pen name or her original author name J. Dawn King everything she writes is a joy.
