They’re enemies.

Alena Brennan’s relationship with Andre Makarov is… complicated. The casino magnate was a means to an end. Nothing more. At least that was what she tried to tell herself. Then she fell for him. Hard. But he kicked her out of his life when he discovered her lies.

Now she’s pregnant with his baby.

Andre understands why Alena wanted revenge. His father took everything from her, leaving her an orphan at a young age. But Andre still had to cut her out of his life. Now that his father is dead, she’s safe. He should just move on. But when he learns she’s carrying his child, all pretense is gone—he’ll protect Alena whether she likes it or not. She may kick up a fuss, but Andre knows the gorgeous model with a party-girl rep attracts attention…including the dangerous sort.

Alena and Andre finally get their story told in Tempting Danger I am glad that Katie gave this couple their own happy ending after playing such a pivotal part in Declan and Nika’s book Retribution.

No one manages to cram so much story into novella length books as Katie does, they never feel rushed and the couples always seem to have enough time spent on them that the depth and development of everything balances out perfectly with the drama and sexy-times.

He still wanted her more than his next breath…

This is a couple with history, not a great one, because Alena essentially faked interest in Andre in order to get close to his father, the man who brutally murdered her parents, years previously. What she didn’t anticipate was discovering that Andre is nothing like his father, and that she would fall deeply in love with him.

He’d ruined her for anyone else. Which seemed a fitting punishment for her sins.

A few months on from the failed murder attempt, Alena has not seen Andre since the truth emerged, but she hasn’t walked away completely unscathed, when she discovers she is pregnant with his child.

"I didn’t realize you were so traditional."

It doesn’t take long for Andre to find out, once Alena returns to Miami to help her sister plan her wedding, he basically turns back into the uber protective, alpha male she originally fell for. As you would expect, there is a little suspense thrown in, nothing to taxing or strenuous to the story itself, but it bought about the climax of this novella nicely and tied off a few loose ends.

I read this in one sitting, and as always it was an enjoyable and engaging reading experience.

Alena used Andre to get to his father for revenge against the murder of her parents. When Andre found out, he cast her out but has not been able to get over her. When he finds out she is pregnant with his child, he's determined to make her his despite her betrayal.

Alena never thought she would fall for the son of a monster. She hates that she used Andre to get to the last man alive that killed her parents, but she can't see past her revenge. When Andre kicked her out of his life, she knows she deserves his mistrust. When she learns she is pregnant with his baby, she hopes he is willing to forgive her enough to co-parent their baby.

Katie Reus's books are pure perfection. She has the perfect formula for the Alpha hero, spitfire heroines and mature storylines. I'm not a big fan of betrayal stories but the author did such a good job of creating a story where you just can't be mad at either character for what happened. In fact, I wanted them together more because of it. I loved it!

Three months after the events in Retribution, Alena and Andre parted ways under less then ideal circumstances. Trying to kill your boyfriend's mobster father kind of kills any chance of pursuing a relationship with him, even if what started off as a means to an end turned out to be far more than Alena ever thought.

But a surprise pregnancy changes things. Alena knows she can't keep Andre from his child and although she knows he may never forgive her and might even hate her, she is determined to keep him in the loop.

Andre knows why Alena did what she did, even though he hates the idea that everything they had shared was a lie, he can't hate her. She haunts him and finding out that she is carrying his child gives him the perfect excuse to bring her back into his life. After months apart, he knows Alena is his and this time around, Andre won't let her go.

What I liked:
Katie Reus did it again. Tempting Danger had amazing MCs, sizzling tension, hot chemistry and a touching love story. I had a great time reading this one!

Memorable Moments:
This was riddled with a lot of growly alpha behavior and yummy possessiveness. I really, really like Andre when he lost control and gave in to his base instincts when it came to Alena.

If you’re after a bit of a quickie then Tempting Danger hits the spot. And, whilst an accompanying novella to Retribution—the first in the series of the same name—it can be read on its own, although I have plans in place to rectify this situation and very soon.

description

Whilst not the first book I’ve read by Katie Reus, it is the first novella and the lady can write one. Andre and Alena’s story was tight, and considering their history and what was involved, never once did I feel lost or confused. Far from it and I was invested in them from the get go.

“...that chemistry was never going to fade.”

With strong endearing characters, sizzling sexy-time and plenty of tender moments, Tempting Danger makes it a hat-trick of Katie Reus reads for me and she’s firmly cemented herself onto my autoread list.

Alena used Andre to get close enough to his father in an attempt to kill him. Revenge was all she had planned. Unfortunately, along the way she had fallen for the son of her enemy but now he has shut her out of his life. Circumstances dictate that she contact him again, but she’s wary and holds off until the night he overhears her talking to someone.

Andre hates that he tossed Alena aside after her attempt to end his father. How was he to know if what they had shared was real and if the woman she presented to him was the real her or a fraud? Now that she’s back in his life he’s going to do anything and everything to tie her to him.
This is a fast paced read with well-rounded characters and great chemistry between the hero and heroine. I loved that Andre went after her with everything in his arsenal, all while utilizing what he knew about her.

The epilogue was perfect and this author once again proves she knows how to do heroes right.

This is an honest review of an advanced copy provided by the author.

I read the first book in the series (Retribution) primarily to read this one because I can't read out of sequence and to be honest I wish I hadn't bothered with this one. I struggled to connect with both characters - I knew going into this one that I wasn't a fan of the h (can't even remember her name that shows how much of an impact she had on me!), although Andre was the better of the two.

The ridiculous miscommunication towards the end didn't help either.

My biggest problem in this book was my own fault apparently. I am used to stand-alone books by Katie Reus and this one is not exactly an independent book. You should read Retribution before you get your hands on this one. During the whole time I was reading it I felt like I was missing something and judging from the blurb of the first book, my guess is all the events of Retribution. It wasn't a good time to not read the first book because this story is based on whatever happened there. I am not recommending to read this book as stand alone because it will ruin your reading experience and no one wants that. Apparently, we got to see Andre and Alena being in a relationship in the other book and in this one they are mending what Alena broke. The book practically fixes what was broken in the previous one. Despite my not so good connection with the book, I liked this one even though I gave it a low rating. I would have loved it if I knew better what went down between them. I am sure the readers who have read the previous book will love this one. I liked this kind of second chance romance.

Although Tempting Danger can be read as a stand alone it is clearly a second book and the characters/plot were introduced in the first book (which I haven't read). I think this definitely affected my enjoyment of this book and would strongly recommend reading the first book prior to this one.

Alena is a model who set out to get justice for her parents who were CIA operatives and murdered by four men. In order to get close to the final killer (she has previously killed the other three) she starts a relationship with his son, Andre. Andre is nothing like his father and although she feels guilty she needs to finish what she started. Unfortunately when she tries to kill his father she is thwarted and Andre realizes that she had lied to him and was just using him to get to his father. (All this happens in the first book which centers around her sister who is helping her and is psychic).

There is a large amount of backstory and obviously a lot of prior relationship/character development that happened in the first book. This book starts four months later with Alena pregnant with Andre's baby. She decides to tell him but is afraid of his reaction. Of course he figures it out before she gets a chance to tell him. Andre understands why Alena did what she did but he hates that she used him to do it. I thought Andre forgave/accepted Alena a bit too quickly and I think Alena should have had to work a bit harder for his forgiveness.

I think this book will be much more enjoyable/interesting to those who have read the first book and want to see the resolution between Alena and Andre.

Tempting Danger by Katie Reus

A follow up of Retribution and fan requested, Alena and Andre get their happy ending in this novella. It’s a romance by itself, but best to read afterRetribution.

Packed with a protective to-be Daddy, and romantic pressure of love, this couple works to make their history a stable future for love. They are not perfect or even necessarily good people having exacted their revenge, but their love for each other is strong.

One of my favorite authors for an exciting, satisfying romantic suspense.

Tempting Danger is a sort of continuation from Retribution. While Retribution focuses mostly on Nika and Declan, the overarching story continues. Alena is Nika's older sister and they have finally killed all the people responsible for their parent's murder. However, the trouble isn't done for Alena. She used Andre to get close to his father, the last man she needed to kill. Using Andre left her with guilt...and a baby.

Alena is kind of a badass. She planned and executed 3 people without getting caught. Her relationship with Andre may have started as a ruse, but she did find him to be a caring, good man. She knew he would never forgive her betrayal though. Andre hated his father almost as much as Alena did, so it was no skin off his back when his father died. But he never suspected Alena of the betrayal and his pride was seriously wounded. But, he did have real feelings for her. So, fast forward 4 months, neither of them has gotten over each other, and now she has to tell him she is pregnant. They both are a bit skittish around each other. She can't believe he would forgive her so easily, he is determined to be an alpha caveman and keep her. Communication between these two is dicey and become the major stressor in the story. While not my favorite trope, it was all very understandable and natural for the history these two had with each other. Overall, Tempting Danger gives you an alpha male, a strong female, a touch of actual danger, and an unexpected baby that you can read in one sitting!

POV: 3rd
Tears: no
Trope: fake relationship, surprise pregnancy
Triggers: none
Series/Standalone: series (I really think its best to read these in order; its not necessary, but it would be so much better!)
Cliffhanger:
HEA:

growly alpha male heroes like those in books by Alexa Riley, Aurora Rose Reynolds, Harper Sloan...then you will probably like Tempting Danger!

Katie Reus is my “go to” author when I want a good guy hero who only has eyes for his leading lady love and will fight anyone who gets in his way to keep her. At only 151 pages, Tempting Danger was no exception. Sure, it reads like a short, flirty, smexy Harlenquinish type novella, but all the better to read it my dears. I’m personally quite fond of that publisher. As a lover of romantic angst, I also get a kick out of alpha protective daddy drama, which is the underlying theme here.

Due to time constraints in getting a review posted by release date, I will be reading this series out of order. Yeah, I can see how it would be helpful to have read Alena’s sister’s longer version HEA first in Retribution, but Ms. Reus filled in enough blanks I wasn’t overly lost. It gave away a few spoilers from book 1, but I’d still recommend it to anyone looking to find love between two temporarily torn apart lovebirds who flock back together when a baby bond once more binds them together.

Here’s to hoping you’ll feel the same and enjoy this one as much as I did.

Title: Tempting Danger, Series: Retribution (Book 2), Author: Katie Reus, Pages: 151, short novella, second chance, adversaries to lovers, a few smexy scenes, alpha protective daddy to be, brief peril/violence, romance safe, celibate during separation.

Book 1 - Retribution, Pages: 350 (Nika & Declan)
Book 2 - Tempting Danger, Pages: 151 (Alena & Andre)

I grabbed this without realizing at first that it was the second in a series. But, when I looked it said it could be read as a stand alone, so I read it without reading the first one. And I want to tell you, it's probably not a good idea to do that. Sure, I COULD read it as a standalone, but I SHOULDN'T have done that. Mostly because, although the first book is primarily about Nika and Declan, I'm reasonably sure without reading it, that it started the first half of the romance between Alena Brennan and Andre Markov. We start with a flashback of Alena trying to kill Andre's evil father and Andre's realization that he'd just been used...but there was a whole relationship that must have been happening in that first book. Alena and Andre reference things that happened in that book and in the first part of their relationship as though, I, the reader, already knew it. And I didn't know anything about the kidnapping (also referenced) or Nika's being psychic. So I felt like I'd been dropped into the middle of the story....it all still made sense once I'd caught up, but I felt like I was missing something... And interestingly, I feel no desire to get the first book because I feel like I know how everything ends already. Don't do that to yourself.

As a story in general, this was fairly average for me. It was sweet and sexy and Andrea is pretty much the perfect alpha - gruff, possessive and protective, but not overbearing or creepy. He's also uncommunicative, which is a more ambiguous alpha trait, but I kinda like it. Alena was pretty interesting too, but that girl needed to get her back up a bit more often about being railroaded and manipulated into exactly what Andrea wanted. If she was going to let him manipulate her into marriage so easily, she should have just said yes in the first place, because her reasons didn't seem to matter. There was a little bit of angst, and just a touch of suspense surrounding her old kidnapper, but it was fairly light and this was more of a fluffly, sexy romance. I liked it.

Although this can be read as a stand-alone novella it is clearly a follow on from a previous novel.

Alena Brennan is a model, her younger sister is psychic and is engaged to be married to a former CIA agent. Alena's parents were CIA operatives who were murdered and she swore vengeance on their killers. In order to get closer to the final killer she cultivated a relationship with his son Andre Makarov, a Las Vegas casino magnate, but found herself falling for him. When she tried to kill his father in front of him, and failed, Andre realised he had been fooled. As you can tell, there is a LOT of backstory!

Four months later, Andre's father has died and Alena is pregnant with Andre's baby. She needs to tell Andre, but what will his reaction be?

This was a pleasant enough novella, pretty PG for Katie Reus, but probably of more interest to people who read the preceding novel and wanted to know what happened to Alena and Andre.

We met Alina and Andre in the first book (Retribution) when she and her sister were trying to avenge their parent’s murder. This book was not as fast-paced as the first book nor did it have any paranormal elements but it was still an entertaining read. It was cute to see the things a hormonal pregnant woman has to go trough and how the people around her deal with the situations.
The thing I didn’t like much was that I was expecting more of a struggle in the romantic department. It went from “enemies” to “I want you back in my life” in the span of a millisecond (not quite literally but it sure felt that way) which I feel didn’t allow me connect to the characters that much.

Tempting Danger

*received an arc in exchange for an honest review**

4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Alena has ruined any chance of a relationship with Andre. What started off as revenge turned into something real, at least for her, but she knows he could never care for her after everything. There is only one problem, she is pregnant and now will have him always in her life. But it’s not how she wants him.

Andre can’t get Alena out of his head. No matter what she did, he is drawn to her and still keeps tabs on her. When he has his path cross with hers again he isn’t expecting what she will tell him and now the ball is in his court.

While Alena knows that Andre wants to be involved with their child’s life she assumes that’s all she will get. Andre has different plans though and he is not going to let the one real thing in his life slip through his fingers again. But will they be able to make it work? Or is there too much between them and working against them?

Review posted on Got Fiction?

This novella follows Retribution, and while it can stand alone, you miss out on certain things.

In that story, we see sisters Alena and Nika playing the long game to kill the man responsible for killing their parents. Alena is dating that man's son, Andre. Andre is a good man, but his father is not. They are all at dinner when she attempts to kill Andre's father. (this is all from book 1)

In this book, Alena is obviously no longer with Andre. Using a man to get close to his father so you can kill him sort of does that to a relationship. Alena has stepped down from modeling and is primarily staying out of the limelight for a couple of reasons, but mainly it's because she's pregnant.

Andre sees Alena at a party and after seeing her nearly faint and hanging on the arm of her date, he follows her out. He overhears her telling her date that she's not ill, she's pregnant. He immediately knows the baby is his. He also knows that she may be a pretty little liar, but she's his pretty little liar and he isn't letting her go.

Now I love LOVE a betrayal plot. I love the redemption arc, and I liked that this time around it's the heroine who has to redeem herself. Although Andre was very grown up about the whole thing, so that made it easier.  The thing is, Alena isn't the same girl he dated. He dated Alena the party girl supermodel. This new Alena, the Alena she hid from him, is sassy and talks back. He...likes her. He's learning who she is, and not who she wanted him to think she was. Now they have to relearn how to be together, and who they truly are. It's a second chance lovers trope and I loved it.

I like Katie Reus' books, and this had the added bonus of a trope I like, so it was basically my catnip. If you like bossy men with women who can stand up to them, if you like watching second chance romance, you will love this.

Another Great Read!!
This is the second book following Retribution with Alena and Andre. Yay! I loved these 2 in Retribution and was ecstatic that they got their own story. Alena used Andre in the last book to get to the murderer who killed her parents. Andre wondered if everything they were to each other was a lie. In the end the love they had for each other proved stronger than lies and they were able to reunite and have their HEA. Kudos for a great epilogue! 4.5 stars.

•••••••••••••

REVIEW: TEMPTING DANGER is the second novella in Katie Reus’ contemporary adult RETRIBUTION romantic, suspense series. This is American model Alena Brennan, and casino magnate Andre Makarov’s story line. TEMPTING DANGER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary. Alena and Andre’s story line began in book one-RETRIBUTION.

SOME BACKGROUND: Years earlier Alena and Nika’s parents were murdered by four men from Russia, and in the ensuing time our heroine made it her sole purpose to kill the people responsible including the father of the man with whom she would fall in love.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Alena and Andre) TEMPTING DANGER picks up several months following the events of book one –RETRIBUTION-in which Andre Makarov discovered that everything about the woman with whom he fell in love was a lie. Hoping to end Yasha Mkarov’s life, Alena devised a plan to seduce our story line hero in order to get close to the man who ended her mother’s life. Fast forward four months wherein our heroine, who has been laying low, heads to Florida to visit her sister, only to come face to face with the man that she still loves. Enter Andre Makarov, the man who stole Alena’s heart, but the man Alena destroyed in the process. What ensues is the rebuilding relationship between Alena and Andre as they work together to forge a deeper bond with the impending birth of their unborn child, and the potential fall out when someone from Alena’s past seeks retribution for a perceive sin.

TEMPTING DANGER is a quick read; a second chance romance; a rekindling trope that focuses on forgiveness and understanding; retribution and revenge; falling in love and happily ever after. Nika Brennan and Declan Gallagher (Retribution #1) play secondary and supporting roles as the author revisits some of the events of book one, that will outline the reasons for the breakdown in Andre and Alena’s original relationship. The premise is revealing and entertaining; the characters are colorful and dynamic; the romance is sensual and seductive. There is a minimal amount of story line conflict between our leading couple; Andre easily and readily accepts Alena back into his life, and Alena is willing to acknowledge the potential damage she caused in her need to seek revenge for the death of her beloved parents. Katie Reus continues to pull the reader into story lines that will leave you breathless and wanting more.

What’s it About? Alena Brennan’s relationship with Andre Makarov fell apart the moment he found out she was using him to get revenge on his father. It didn’t matter that Alena had every reason to want Andre’s father dead, or that she had started to care for Andre, he still ended it. Now his father is dead and Andre just found out that Alena is pregnant with his child and he wants her back, no matter what.

Overall reaction to the story? I completely missed the first book which sets up this second chance romance for Andre and Alena but I was able to follow along just fine. It’s Katie Reus so I know it’s going to be an interesting ride. I wasn’t disappointed in Andre and Alena’s story, not only is it a second chance romance, it also showed the fallout of Alena’s failed revenge plot.

I’m not into the Surprise/Oops/Secret Baby trope but I trust Katie Reus as an author not to disappoint. Plus it’s a sure thing that sparks will fly between her characters. Andre and Alena didn’t trust each other but at the same time they still wanted each other. I liked the way their relationship went from suspicious to passionate because it gave them a chance to get to know each other without revenge or hatred between them. Alena was able to be herself completely without worrying about maintaining her cover. Andre is a bit overbearing and possessive but it suited him and his background and I never found him to be unreasonable only when it came to Alena’s safety.

There was a little bit of a suspense plot in Tempting Danger that added a touch more spice to the novella but it didn’t take away from the rebuilding of Andre and Alena’s relationship and I didn’t feel like it was rushed to its conclusion either. All in all a well paced short romance that satisfied.

Tempting Danger is a sister story to the book Retribution. Retribution focuses mostly on Nika and Declan, Tempting Danger focuses on Nika’s older sister Alena. I was super excited because I wanted to know more about Alena and her lover Andre. I was dying to know more about their love story. These two played a huge role in Retribution and I was wondering how things ended up between them, well this book tells us.
Alena essentially faked interest in Andre in order to get close to his father who murdered her and Nika’s parents many years before. Only thing is Alena didn’t realize she would fall head over heels in love with her target, Andre. When Andre found out that the love he thought Alena had for him was supposedly fake, he blew up and sent her on her way. Alena came to realize Andre is nothing like his father and now its too late to fix her mistake …. she did love him but when she went, she went hiding a secret.
A few months on from the failed murder attempt, Alena is retreating from public life and moving closer to her sister for time being. She hasn’t seen Andre since everything came out and he came to learn the truth. She has this huge secret she hasn’t told him but she isn’t sure if she is ready to let him know because she is afraid he will run roughshod over her and quite possibly fight her for this “secret” she has. She just hopes he will forgive her and work with her ….only thing is, Andre is on the hunt to find her… will these two be able to work things out or will the past mistakes shape the future or can they learn and make a brand new future-together?
I loved how Katie Resus wrote this awesome novella and packed everything in with such a punch. I felt every emotion, every action, every passion by the main characters without feeling like something was missing. This was a fantastic followup and I enjoyed getting to see Nika and Declan in this book as well. I highly recommend this book and I cant wait to read what comes next by this author.

Title: Tempting Danger
Series: Retribution Book #2
Stand Alone Title: yes
Author: Katie Reus
Genre: Romance
Blurb: They’re enemies.

Thoughts: The chemistry is certainly there between these two characters, and Andre knows he still wants Alena….unfortunately, he doesn’t know whether everything was an act between them and he has his pride after all. He can even understand Alena’s actions, he’s just not sure what was real and what was a game. Fortunately for him, he’s in the right place at the right time, and discovers Alena left their relationship with more than either of them bargained for! And that gives him the opening he’s looking for to find his way back to Alena.
While it is a short novella title, Katie Reus never short changes her fans – short or not, yet get a full story, you get the full emotions, and you always get a great book worth reading. This one is no exception.

Review:

If you are looking for a short read with enemies to lovers with a oops baby thrown in, then this is the book to pick up.

There is lots packed into this short read. It is full of action, drama and sexy times. Alena and Andre, if you have read any of the series you will remember from the past book. They are very likable characters, with great moral compasses and strong. Of course they have obstacles to overcome, all stemming from the lies from the first time they were together. There is a little suspense and action too that makes the story more exciting, especially never the end of the book. Well, it is a short story so I am leaving the review off here without giving the whole story away.

Ms. Reus is one of my go-to Authors and this story does not disappoint.

This short story is the HEA for Alena Brennan and Andre Makarov we've all been waiting for. I was so hoping they would get their story. Katie brought it to us with her twisty imagination.

Alena has a big problem. She's a supermodel who is pregnant with Andre Makarov's baby no less. She used Andre to get to Andre's dad, Yasha, her parent's killer. She went and fell in love with Andre. Then ran when Yasha came to justice because she couldn't live with the guilt and pain of using Andre. Now she has to face him with the baby. Yasha has been keeping tabs on Alena because even hurt by her betrayal of him, he also fell in love with her. When Alena comes back to her sister, Nika in her time of need and Andre tracks her down. He finds out the wrong way she's pregnant and so the story builds.

I am not a big fan of accidental baby or of a certain plot device that's later used in this story but I am ever so glad they find their happily ever after. It's a believable story and Katie writes it well. I adore the tight, loving relationship between the two sisters. I liked the bro-mance between Andre and Declan. I believed the over emotional Alena with her pregnancy hormones. I found it hard to like Alena much in Retribution and this story helped get me over that. Truth be told I did not identify much with Alena. I still like Nika better between the two. Sorry Katie. I really can't wait for more of Declan's family and their paranormal talents, especially since they all are CIA.

I received this NetGalley ARC for a truthful review.

Alena was out for revenge in book 1 and almost put the happiness of her sister and her now fiancé in jeopardy. She used Andre to get close to his father, who had been involved in the deaths of their parents. But she did what no assassin should do, she fell in love with he asset!

Fast forward a few months and Nika and Declan are getting married and Alena has come to lend a hand. But she is not alone, a little surprise is tagging along with her! But how can she let Andre know that he is going to be a father when she knows for sure that he must hate the sight of her?

Andre has been keeping tabs on Alena since she left but he obviously wasn't keeping a close enough look at her movements! But he understands her need for revenge on his father, it's not like he loved him either, he just felt used. But once they meet again and he understands who now ties them together - he will do everything he can to win her back!

Alena and Andrew both suffer from quick assumptions, miscommunications and downright stubbornness! But they are a great couple. I loved his sneaky lo-jacking of her movements even whilst it would drive me cray -cray too! Alena is not after his money or fame - she has enough of her own.

Plenty of danger still around for Alena and I really enjoyed the way these two finally managed to weave their lives together.

Tempting Danger is a sexy, emotional second chance for a couple with a complicated history.

Alena used Andre and faked a relationship with him all to get closer to his father, the man who killed her parents. She was motivated by vengeance and anger and knew what she was doing to Andre wasn't good, but she didn't care. Unfortunately for her, she found Andre to be nothing like she had expected, nothing like his evil father, and she ended up developing feelings for Andre. Alas, things naturally did not end well and they've been apart for awhile and figure they'll stay apart. And that was the way it was going until she found out she was pregnant. Will Andre be able to forgive her enough to coparent with her? Luckily Andre is intent on bringing Alena back into his life and not letting her go. Will she accept his sort of caveman-ish ways now?

The tension between the two was palpable and seeing them work things out was both passionate and a bit emotional. I felt for both of them and loved reading their journey. Tempting Danger is sexy and intense, and doesn't feel like it's as short as it is. It's not rushed or shallow at all, which isn't always the case with novellas. I'm hoping there's more to come in this series.

I received an ARC via NetGalley for an honest review.

Whether you are new to Ms Reus’s stories or a long time fan , you will enjoy this one. It’s book 2 of the author’s Retribution series, and definitely a stand alone. I didn’t read book one, but had no problems following the plot. Ms Reus gives us enough information about what happened in the previous book, that you get a good view of the incidents that lead to this one.
The story centers around Andre Makarov and Alena Brennan. They became lovers while she was seeking revenge for her parents murders.
They parted in bad terms and even now, months afterwards, neither has forgotten the other.
When Alena realizes she is pregnant , and knows she needs to tell Andre. But Andre finds out by accident. Now that he has found her again, he is determined to keep her safe, and marry her. Alena is not sure he loves her and that he will forgive her for what she did. Throw in a stalker wanting her dead, and you know you are in for a good ride.
Novellas aren’t easy to write, and only a talented author can give you a well developed plot, complex characters, suspense, and a sweet and at the same time sexy romance. Somehow, Ms Reus accomplishes all of this without a hitch.
I was gifted a copy of this book . The opinions expressed are solely my own.
