Up until a few days ago, Ensley thought her life was ordinary. But she’s quickly learning that nothing is what it seems. That evil lurks everywhere. And she can either run or fight back.
Luckily, Ensley isn’t alone. She has friends who care about her. And maybe, just maybe, Carter.
Carter can’t stop thinking about Ensley. So when he learns her life is in danger, he rushes to warn her. But he has to make her trust him, which means confessing the truth and fighting back against the evil that controls his life.

I can't take this seriously. It just reeks of immature and childishness. Its bearable alright but this second book they are all talking crap and repeating things we already know. And then plot twist .... the story become exactly like Discovering Zhara: Meeting the Bad Boy Rebels. We got evil mafia, some naive teenagers who wants to save the world, a drug that erases memories and a secret agency.
My god. HOw NOT creative this is and what is the obsession with the word 'Rebel'???
The name of these books throw me a bit. They don't really suit the storylines and neither do the covers. Will continue to read to see where the story goes.
I guess 2.5 stars. I'm still curious to see how to story ends, despite my issues with the books. This book left off with a cliffhanger too. I admit this book was a bit more interesting than the first because of the thriller/double-cross stuff.
Everyone's father in this book is a jerk and a bad person. Multiple groups are after the teenagers and their running away to safety (hopefully). Several people are double-agents. They get to an agency that supposedly takes down bad guys like Gregor, Winston, and Nicholas. All the teens agree to get on board as informants.
This that drove me nuts: abruptness throughout the book; guessing, second-guessing, and triple guessing each other over and over; not enough meat in the story; Carter and Ensley repeatedly jumping on one another when crazy stuff is going down.
Who is Ensley's Dad and what does he do for a living? Who is Carter and El's real Dad and what does he do? Who is Holden and what does the agency do?
Who are the good guys? Who are the bad guys? How are all these kids so tied up in dark and evil doings without being dark and evil themselves? How does it all turn out?
None of these things are answered and we get another cliffhanger, but this author always sucks me in with these serial books. I never learn and wait until they are all out. If it takes too long to get the next one, I'll have to read them again because I will forget what it going on.
The amount of twists thrown at us in this one is insane! It's just one after another. You don't know who to trust or what's going to happen. And that ending...grrr!!! Hope the wait for the next one isn't too long!
Ok, I had issues with the first book in this series, but I have deep appreciation for it now. I think the issue was just with the way she ended the previous book. I am loving this series now.
This book was amazing, It had you hooked straight from the beginning, I struggled to put it down. However give it a 4 for left on cliff hanger again. Can't wait until the next one is out.
Oh wait what !! I need more ..what is going on ..carter and EN need their HEA!! El and holden or maybe gaige... will they not know each other? More books..hangover cliffhanger ...ugh
I enjoyed the first book in this series. It was interesting, realistic and had a great plot. This book is different from the first. The characters are ridiculous and the story is unbelievable. It got worse as I read. I won't be reading any more in this series, they would just be a waste of time.
I wouldn't say it was bad, just really corny. I mean i expected a lot more from a mafia perspective and it was a real let down. Story has a lot of potential, just seems rushed and very childish. YES, I understand it is a young adult series. I just wanted it to be more than what it was.
It ends with a cliffhanger......... This book is really short and was just getting good and then it ends. And I don't like knowing that I have to wait. Boo!
Wow! This story is incredibly amazing! I love the combination of mystery and romance, I like that the theme of the mafia is involved, and I definitely got some surprises. The relationship between Carter and Ensley is just adorable, I can't wait to read more about them!!!
