Such an inspirational story. It showcases how fulfilling it is to help those in a need that they don't even know they have. Emma and Jack branch out to the elderly in other towns and hopefully even further than their island. A fun book to read and it helps get the message about scammers out to those most vulnerable. Well done.
Really enjoyed the first book so went straight on to read this one. After starting The Lonely Heart Attack Club from their coffee shop, Jack and Emma's vision is expanding. The main idea this time is an Olympics style event for the elderly. Funny and heartwarming.
No. 2 in this wonderful series. I continue to enjoy the antics of the various quirky characters and would give the author six stars if I could for using my most favorite English word - penultimate. Bravo!
Very enjoyable read. Great humour. Easy to imagine the characters. It makes you more aware of how vulnerable the elderly can be, but how with friendship, they can overcome most things.
I so enjoy this series! It’s sweet, funny and very heart warming. If you are looking for a change of pace and want to read with a smile on your face get this book.
This is book 2 of a cozy story about a few elderly people in Doublas, The Isle of Man, supporting a coffee shop and the newly formed Lonely Heart Attack Club. The club attempted to break a Guiness Book of Records flower wall in the last book, but this year, the club will hold the Wrinkly Olympics to gain sponsorships and support for the growing numbers of much fitter over the hill people. Kelvin and Pete are planning their wedding and Emma is pregnant with Jack's baby. Jack's ex is threateing to blackmail him over her share of the Jack's success for their joint ownership in the coffeeshop. So much is happening, that there is never a dull moment with these characdters. A fun read!
It mostly reads like those professional books on Corporate Social Responsibility except that while those books are crammed with examples, Williams' book harps on just one initiative ( actually one and a half). The blazing success of the initiative, the way the story only has good, supportive people, make it a bit too sweet and unreal.
It has some slap-stick humour thrown in and one may consider that a redeeming feature.
This is yet another wonderful tale from this author, warm, funny and beautifully written . The characters are superbly drawn and one feels that they are friends. I read this in a morning, delaying everything that I had planned to do. Can't wait for the next one.
I enjoyed the first book so much that I read the second straight after. I was not disappointed. It’s funny, poignant and the characters make you feel like you’re part of the family when you read it. It’s a lighthearted, feel good book which is just what I needed. Looking forward to reading the third book in the series, though the next book I have lined up is very different from this!
What a find this series was full of so many laughs but also touching on some very sensitive topics. Not an easy job but he has somehow found the perfect balance. A must read.
Gobbled up this delightful book and howled with laughter. Have to get some sleep so I can start book 3 . Such fun and can’t describe what a lovely read this series is for me....
I really enjoyed this book the characters are really well written, the description of the isle of man are wonderful , the ideas of the club are brilliant I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys cosy stories
Enjoyed the first lonely heart attack book but this one was a bit to gooey and over sentimental for me. I liked Ray and grandad and can relate to the viagra reference somewhat and Bill and Ben took me back. I'll catch the third book another time.
If only one tenth of this was true, the world would be a much better place. Genuinely emotional at times and very funny at others. I heart ily (d'ya see what I did there😉) recommend this and the previous book
I didn’t enjoy this one as much as the first book - there really wasn’t much overall about the Olympics (though what was there was good) and the whole BDSM couple next door felt really forced just so Jack would have an embarrassing encounter. That said, It was still heartwarming and sassy.
A thoroughly good book. I was finding myself laughing out loud several times while reading. This is not something I do very often. Very well worth the read.
Having read the first in this series I thought I’d carry on. I’ve got to be honest and say the plot is somewhat far fetched to say the least - that said there are moments of hilarity in amongst it.
