This is an alternate cover edition for ASIN B018BTXVUW.

Lexi has always had a reputation for accidentally messing things up, but she never thought she’d be jobless and homeless at twenty-six. With no other choice, she returns to her hometown to do a little life searching.

Lexi quickly discovers a lot has changed in the eight years since she first left Fairville, a quirky little town in the middle of nowhere. Most of her best friends from high school are now married and have children, and her parents have sold their home and are now living in a loft above their store. One thing still remains the same, though. Anders, her old high school crush is still as hot as ever.

Determined to get her life back on track, Lexi starts searching for an apartment and a job. But during a crazy night at one of her friend’s bachelorette parties, she wakes up in Las Vegas, hungover and married to Evan, Anders' brother, a guy she barely knows. So much for getting her life back on track.

First and foremost you have to know this book is not your usual Jessica Sorensen’s novel. There are no dark, raw characters or angsty romance. Instead you will find a quirky heroine that most definitely will put a smile on your face. I have only read agsty reads from this author, so I’m not exactly sure if this one is her first light and funny novel, but let me tell you she did a great job with it keeping my interest from start to finish, making me smile and grin a couple of times and even LOL at some point. Needless to say I really enjoyed this first installment in Mrs. Sorensen newest series, entitled “Lexi Ashford”.

Lexy Ashford is in her mid-twenties. With a bachelor’s degree in General Studies, she left her small town, Fairville to move to Denver eight years ago. Since then she floated through random jobs, but now she works at an event planning company. Her life is good, acceptable – she rents alone an apartment, she has a job where she can be creative and she has a colleague who after work becomes something more. Lexi’s life change irrevocably when she loses he job, 'her colleague' = dumps her and she gets an eviction notice. All that in one single day.

"Weird stuff goes on in Fairville. And not weird, fun stuff, but unnaturally weird, what-the-hell-is-going-on, did-the-whole-town-get-high kind of stuff."

She is forced to move back in Fairville where everyone knows her as 'Lexi T-rexi'. It goes without saying she’s not too happy, but she plans to get on her feet ASAP and move back to Denver. Forced by circumstances, Lexi accepts a bachelorette party invitation in Vegas. Since we’re talking about Lexi, what happens in Vegas doesn’t stay in Vegas. In Vegas Lexi has fun, gets drunk and also gets married.

“Oh, my God, I can’t believe I got married last night.” I shake my head at myself. “And in a chapel that had candy canes lining the aisle and an officiator dressed up like Santa.”

Jessica Sorensen delivered this funny, quirky, entertaining read effortlessly. I was hooked from the start and I’ve read this one in one sitting. The writing was as good as ever, the pace of the story perfect for this kind of read and the angst and drama were very low. I enjoyed the dialogue between the characters and being in Lexi’s head was just terrific. Lexy is a mess, she has no filter. She’s funny and clumsy and I loved her personality. Her parents cracked me up and Lexi relationship with them was fantastic. Lexi was very easy to like, maybe because she was a relatable character.

Her romantic interest was sweet and charming, but I would have liked to know more about him. I’m looking forward to read the next installment/s in the series.

Overall, an enjoyable read!

Escaping the small town she grew up in was Lexi's dream, and for 8 years she was free. But little Lexi T-rexi is headed home, unemployed and jobless, she has no choice to return to Fairville. She has a plan, she will stay long enough to get on her feet, and get out asap. It's been years since she has been home, and a lot has changed, with the exception of few things.

"Weird stuff goes on in Fairville. And not weird, fun stuff, but unnaturally weird, what-the-hell-is-going-on, did-the-whole-town-get-high kind of stuff"

Her parents have sold her childhood home, living in their small loft is even less appealing that she imagined. With limited space, sleeping on the floor and a bathroom full of gnomes, Lexi is anxious to set her plan in motion.

I dream of sexy strangers with green eyes, dinging slot machines, clouds that rain glitter, crazy-ass zombie gnomes eating my flesh, and baby marshmallow men sprouting from my mom's zero day old skin.

When her mother's wildcat party, forces Lexi to accept a bachelorette party invitation, she is headed to Vegas. Glitter, Tequila, a proposal and drunken Vegas wedding remind Lexi once again of how out of control her life can get.

"Oh, my God, I can't believe I got married last night." I shake my head at myself."And in a chapel that had candy canes lining the aisle and an officiator dressed up like Santa."

I really enjoyed this little story. The Diary of Lexi Ashford was quirky and fun, I honestly laughed out loud a few times. I can't wait to see how things play out.

Jessica Sorensen steps outside her box with an adult, cute, and funny story. Lexi Ashford is an endearing heroine who will have you laughing, cringing, and relating to this Calamity Jane type.

description

Lexi losses her job, her love interest, apartment, and must return home to Fairville, till she gets back on her feet. There she meets the “Sexy Stranger” from a marker incident on Denver’s city streets.

”You still have no clue who I am.”

description

Lexi gets roped into a Vegas getaway with girls from her hometown and things seem to go awry there. This quirky story ends with a cliffhanger that I personally have read way too much, but I like the characters so much that I’m excited to see what happens next!

Thanks to my dear friend Brandi for gifting me this story!!

My 5-Facts Review ('Cuz I'm lazy busy reading):

THE DIARY OF LEXI ASHFORD BY JESSICA SORENSEN
★★★★★ (5 stars)
________________________________

✔ This book should come with a warning label: Do not read it in public! I repeat, don't read it in public! I made the mistake and read it on a train. When after a few pages I started snort- laughing every few minutes, people were like this:

Yeah, true story. This book is so entertaining and hilarious that I couldn't stop reading it until I was finished (which wasn't a hard thing to do since the book is quite short).

I LOVED Lexi, the heroine! She was so funny and real. I loved how everywhere she went, some "disaster" happened. She was clumsy, witty and likeable! She always told exactly what she was thinking, which was extremely refreshing!

✔ Speaking of the characters, I can't believe how amazing Evan's character was! I'm so fed up with all the cocky, selfish male heroes that are often portrayed in romance novels as the ideal man. Evan is the perfect example that a nice and kind-hearted hero can be interesting as well!

The writing is phenomenal! It's written in typical Jessica Sorensen fassion, but instead of angst and drama it's filled with humor. So if you love the author's writing style and love some fun chick-lit romance, then this is the book for you!

I WANT MORE!!! I seriously loved everything about this book. Evan + glitter = *snort-laughs*
_________________________________

HERE IS MY ADVICE: This might sound strange, but if you feel like you're gonna love this book (either because you're a fan of the author or simply love the synopsis), please do yourself a favor and DON'T READ the book YET! That way you may save yourself the frustration that I had after that cliffy!!! The story ended way too abruptly and here is the worst thing: there is no info about the second part's release.

Even the first book disappeared on Amazon and Wattpad (where had been both parts published before). I'm beyond frustrated, and keeping my fingers crossed that the sequel gets published at all!

Update (March 5th, 2016): I just saw on the author's facebook that the second part of the book releases NEXT WEEK!!! Can't wait!

Review by Jen Skewes
First I just want to say that I love the cover of this book, just beautiful. I am a big fan of Jessica Sorensen’s writing. Anyone who has read her books knows that most of them are dark, and gritty and sad. But The Diary of Lexi Ashford is so different from anything that she has written before. I’ll just say that Jessica Sorensen knows how to do fun and quirky.

Lexi is the type of character who you just love. She is a bit quirky and has no luck at all. If something can go wrong for her, it does. She is suddenly unemployed and has no place to go. Having no choice she moves out of the city and back to the small town that she grew up in, moving back in with her parents. Living in such a small town, everyone knows Lexi, a little too much I may add. She always seemed to make a mess of things and everyone knew it. She plans on looking for a job and getting her life back on track. Until she wakes up the morning after a bachelorette party and finds that she got married, to the brother of her high school crush. See she always manages to get herself in some crazy situation. But what will happen next? Cannot wait to find out.

I loved the humor and with in this book. Lexi’s character was fun and while she found herself getting into trouble on more than one occasion you couldn’t help but laugh and sympathize with her at the same time. But in some way I think everyone can relate to Lexi on some level. I loved her character and I am also looking forward to more of Evan. Something about him that makes him very intriguing. Jessica Sorrenson did a fantastic job with this one. I love that she wrote a story that is the complete opposite of what she has written in the past. She still sucked me in from the beginning. I did not want this book to end. I am looking forward to more of Lexi Ashton and to see where her story goes.

Another smashing start to a great series for Jessica!!

I absolutely adored the quirkiness and attitude of Lexi. I laughed the entire time I read this book.

Lexi is pretty much forced to move back to her hometown and start over. Lexi's life is full of off-kilter moments and strange events. But all of them you have to laugh at.

Jessica has done a great job of writing some unique characters in this story. They have different qualities that all blend together very well. You can see where Lexi gets her personality from - her parents crack me up!!

This is a great start to a series and leads you up to some entertaining happenings!! I look forward to seeing what happens next with Lexi!

4.5 / 5 stars

Dear Jessica Sorensen, have you ever considered writing more books in the comedy genre? Or just promise me that Lexi will have hundreds of books because that girl is hilarious.

Right from the very start, Lexi proved to be a magnet for disaster. And magnets for disasters always provide comedic relief.

I was amused by all of the antics that occurred in the serial, but the one scene where she was finally properly introduced to Evan had me cracking up. There was something so realistic and funny about that scene.

All of the minor characters were their own variation of wacky antics. From Carrie Lynn to her parents to her old next-door-neighbor, everybody was always contributing something hilarious to the storyline.

And then there was Evan, aka the sexy stranger guy she ran into, aka the younger brother of the guy she had a huge crush on in high school. I don’t know what it is, but I always find Sorensen’s hero/love-interests to be quite swoon-worthy and complex, and Evan was no different. He was charming, funny, and really sweet.

The scene where it was revealed that he was Anders’ younger brother had me in stitches, and I couldn’t stop laughing for so long I had to put my Kindle down, walk away from it, and returned minutes later after I’d managed to stop laughing.

Evan, oh Evan. I never thought he would end up such a comic relief as well. The second Lexi realized who Evan was from her past (with the help of Emersyn, Evan’s younger sister), was one of the funniest scenes in the entire book. His past was just… hilarious. In my opinion, it was. But that was because I’ve met those types of people when I was in high school. I’ve dealt with my fair share of them, and finding out Evan was just like that in high school… let's just say it cracked me up so badly.

I'm really surprised that Sorensen has managed to write something so funny and lighthearted, especially since all of her books tend to be filled with angst. But that goes to show you how versatile Sorensen is as a writer.

Overall, this serial has me hooked. I really can’t wait to see what unfolds for Lexi (and Evan) next.

It looks as though Ms. Jessica Sorensen can do funny! This was a super cute and light-hearted read. It kept me laughing! It wasn't very long, I read it in about an hour and a half, and I was left wanting to read more. I'm looking forward to the second part. I think this is going to be a fun series. I hope at some point that however many parts there to this story that they are released all together in one book with this cover. I am in cover love!

I love that this author did something a little different than her usual. She did it well!

Same Review Posted Here: Dreamy Addictions

It is a fun filled novella and I really enjoyed reading it. I’m not a fan of Jessica Sorensen but I did liked this book. It is a first part of a short novella which has only 76 pages. It has a quirky main character that you couldn’t help liking her. This is the first new-adult contemporary novella I’ve read and although it was short, everything was well executed.

Lexi Ashword is a 26 year old woman who left her small home town named fairville 8 years ago to live in Denver as an independent woman which is always her dream. These 8 years, she has gone through so many random jobs and currently she works as an assistant to an event organizer and due to her habit of always messing things up she got fired which left her jobless. If that’s not enough, she gets a eviction notice from her landlord. Now Lexi is totally broke, Jobless and has no apartment to live so she has no choice but to go back to her small town fairville to live with her parents for a few months until her life gets back on track. Fairville is a place where Lexi grew up and now she has to go back to her embarrassing past where she was called T-Rexi. During her time in Fairville, she meets her high school crush Anders who seems to show interest in her but things get pretty much complicated when she wakes up to find herself married to his brother Evan after a crazy bachelorette night party in Vegas.

Lexi is a fun quirky character that I really enjoyed knowing and I pretty much liked her. It’s sad that she has an awful luck but It was really hilarious how she always ends up in trouble. Evan is very sweet and charming guy and I would love to know more about him. I also liked Evan’s younger sister Emersyn who is quite sassy and witty. The romance in it is very light and I think the next part’s going to have more of it which I’m definitely looking forward to. The plot, pacing and writing are all quite good.

Overall, I loved it! I can’t wait to know what’s going to happen next.
Do I recommend it? Yes, I highly recommend this to all the book lovers who are looking for a short NA contemporary read filled with humor and romance.

**DEBBIE'S 5 FAN-FLIPPING-TASTIC STARS!!!!!

Another fantastic start to a new series. I loved everything about this book. There are a few things you know for sure when you begin reading a book by Author Jessica Sorensen.

◾The writing will be fantastic
◾You will be hooked to your reading device from start to finish
◾You are in for some serious angst
◾When you get to the killer ending she is known for you will be wanting to hunt her down and beat her with her own book.

This book had me hooked as soon as I started it. I loved the writing and every single character in this book was not only funny but made this book fan-flipping-tastic!!!!!

The main character Lexi Ashford was perfect. I loved that she had no filter and no matter what she did she always ended up getting herself into some sort of trouble. She was quirky but yet you really understood her.

“He gives me the death glare. “Who said I ever wanted to wear glitter?” “Oh, come on, almost every guy has thought about it at least once.” He stares at me blankly. “I can promise you I’ve never, ever thought about putting glitter on my body.”

Her parents were hysterical and the chemistry between all the characters was great!!!!

“I know it’s a not big,” my mom says, her first place ribbon still pinned proudly to her side-tied shirt.” But once the lights are off, it doesn’t see as small.” That’s what he said.” I heave a sigh, setting my bad down on the floor. Man, I’m making dirty jokes with my parents. I must be losing my damn marbles.”

I felt like I was there along side Lexi the whole book. The author just has a way of pulling you in and making you feel like you are experiencing everything too. I am not going to go into the plot of the story. The only thing I will say is that I LOVED IT!!!!! I read this book with a huge smile on my face and was laughing my ass off many times. I cannot wait for the next book in this series.

One of my favorite all-time authors is Jessica Sorensen, all of her books no matter what they are about go on my automatic to-buy list as I know I will enjoy them at some level. This one interested me as well being called "A Diary." The Diary of Lexi Ashford - Part #1 was a quick read and introduced us to Lexi Ashford. Normally things went haywire and never followed her exact plans until one morning everything seemed to be going right and her way. She never once stopped to think it would be too good to be true, I have to admit this part got to me a bit as I felt like she needed a reality check - life cannot go that perfect for people, no matter how perfect they think their lives are. In the span of the morning, she lost her job, her friends ith benefit and then to top it off was evicted from her house and had her tights attacked by a kid with felts. The positive of the day was that she met a mysterious and hot stranger that she felt remotely connected and drawn too. Lexi with no other option has to return home to her small town and her parents. During this time, she spots the mysterious and hot stranger once again and then discovers that they went to school together. Now if only, she could remember who he was ?? Time to bring out Lexi "Veronica Mars" Ashford. If you want a quick-paced, cutesy type and sweet down on her luck romance with an HEA and a cliffhanger to boot then check out The Diary of Lexi Ashford - Part #1 by Jessica Sorensen.

It's not always glitter and unicorns but when it is the possibility of inappropriate comical behavior is not far behind!

This poor girl! It’s Murphy’s Law when it comes to Lexi, and I mean everything seems to go wrong for her. She loses her job, her apartment, and her car all in the span of hours. The way Lexi Ashford deals with the punches is what makes this story so entertaining. Lexi’s quirky outlook in life even while the worst possible scenarios seem to always find her is what keeps you connected with Lexi. As you read along part 1 of Lexi Ashford’s days of mishaps you can’t help but continue to root for her and share the amusement with a dialog written seamlessly as you are flowing back and forth in the present and the past. Lexi now has to move back to the small town in which she fled since that horrid day in her city life came crashing to a stop. Managing the upsets of the new dynamics of small town living, it wouldn’t be Lexi’s life if the hiccups didn’t continue. When Lexi is roped into attending a bachelorette party for the popular Mrs. Soon to be Stepford Wife (who picked on Lexi throughout High School) in Vegas, you know what the saying is… What Happens in Vegas doesn’t stay in Vegas…

I am anxiously waiting for part two in The Diary of Lexi Ashford! I can only imagine the crazy things that are bound to happen. The funny ways each character is written whether they are the main or supporting will keep you laughing or at the very least a continued amused grin while reading this quick short story. If you are looking for a light hearted New Adult mature story, then picking up Jessica Sorenson is a no brainer. Enjoy!

4.5 STARS!!

Honestly, I've only ever met Jessica Sorenson's dark, intense and raw characters, but The Diary of Lexi Ashford confirms for me a few things.

Lexi Ashford is 100% opposite to dark intense and raw.
I LOVE Lexi Ashford
It's been confirmed. From this moment forward, I declare, that I will love anything and everything Jessica Sorenson writes.
The Diary of Lexi Ashford is Sorenson's debut romantic Comedy and it writes and reads with such ease and comfort, it is hard to believe that it is the first time the Author has published in this genre.

Lexi Ashford is a mess. A life filled with chaos, accidents and continuous bad luck; it seems Lexi is destined for a life of pandemonium. Hitting rock bottom and moving back home with her parent's marks the beginning of the end for Lexi. Getting reminded of how much of a 'loser' she was in high school Lexi is forced to hang with the 'cool' kids in Vegas. And well, what happens in vegas stays in vegas... until it follows you home.

With hilarious one liners and the perfect amount of wit and sarcasm, Sorenson brings to life a hilariously facetious main character and a cast of secondary characters, whose inappropriateness wraps up this story in a big, bright red bow.
I am absolutely committed to this series and can't wait for more of Lexi Ashford. To be able to laugh and still weave a perfect story line into 20 000 words; Jessica Sorenson you rock.

So, I keep starting Sorensen series and then ditching them because they drag on too long and seem to fraught with torment. The writing is always solid, and the romance is good too. Which is why I picked this one up (electronically). The plot sounded a bit lighter and I have to admit that I found Lexi's story fun. She is an interesting character, and I'm going to invest in a few more of the books before I decide whether to stick this one through to the end.

Lexi is a mess. One of those people that are fun but their life is hanging on by a thread. Well her thread breaks and she has to move back home to her very small and very odd hometown that she has avoided at all costs for the past 5 years.

Going back she runs into a mysterious handsome guy she met in the city that is apparently from her home town. Now she needs to figure out how she knows him. She has moved back in with her parents but they no longer live in her childhood home and this also has its own twists.

Overall the story is funny, cute and just a dash of odd, which I like. The ending leaves you hanging so you will just have to wait till the 2nd part of the story to learn more.

Overall it was a good fun read.

Messy Life is great! Haha.

I think Jessica Sorensen did a great number on this book. I truly dig the quirky heroine because for me, it most definitely made me giggle and put a smile on my face each chapter. This book wanted me to keep reading and it’s an easy & fun type of book!!!! A great summer book for sure!!! I bought the 2nd one and it’s way! It’s a bit short, only 141 pages but that’s okay by me (so, yes, you can finish it a day but with my busy life, it took me 3).
