Holly Danger #2

Danger's Vice

Rate this book
Outskirts never die…

After narrowly escaping death, Holly is back on the streets in a quest to find the elusive pico. Discovering what’s on the quantum drive—the same one the outskirts had been willing to kill for—is priority number one. Daze is recovering, and forgiving the kid was easier than she thought it would be. The cranky outskirt is another story.

It doesn’t take Holly long to discover that Tandor’s crew hasn’t been obliterated, and are actively seeking retribution. They’re recruiting Northerners, but she’s found one who’s willing to spill. It’s a good thing, too, since things are starting to get strange. On the hunt, she stumbles on an old man dressed in a burial cloth, and witnesses a seeker wandering the streets where it shouldn’t be.

But after a friend gets caught up in the fray, Holly’s hand is forced. She has to act fast to procure the information she needs. But what she learns is harrowing. The outskirts aren’t just taking over the city—they’re infecting people with Plush, and the quantum drive may hold the only key. In order to save lives, she’s must find that pico. The only problem is, it might be too late...

Holly and crew are at it again. Danger’s Vice starts right where Danger's Halo ends. It takes us straight back into the world and dangers Holly and crew are still facing. You won’t know what happens next as Holly’s life and her crews lives are put in danger again for the notorious pico.

Tandor maybe out of the picture, but some of his crew aren’t and it doesn’t take long for Holly and her crew to realize that their is a threat not just to them, but the people in their city. The stakes are higher, especially since they have a chance to learn what’s on the quantum drive and discover the secrets it holds.

Theirs a lot going on in Danger’s Vice. We get a bit more on Holly’s crew, Case, and her retainer Daze who starts to play a more prominent role in her life and the crew’s. Their is no shortage of danger, adventure, mystery, and situations that will put you on edge.

I’m loving this new futuristic sci-fi series by Ms. Carlson. It’s full of action, adventure, and mystery. I’m looking fowled to Holly’s next adventure.

Holly and crew are at it again in Danger’s Vice, the second installment to the Holly Danger series. You won’t know what will happen next as Holly’s life and the lives of her friends are put on the line yet again for the infamous pico. Holly knows there is something in the hard drive and she’s going to do everything she can to get it before anyone else does.

Danger’s Vice picks up right where Danger’s Halo left off. After taking down Tandor, the leader of the crew that has been trying to take over Holly’s city, everyone thinks that they can lay low for a while and rest. But what seems to be the end is only the beginning of another war. Tandor may be out of the picture but his crew isn't and it doesn't take long for them to realize that Holly is a threat that needs to be eliminated at all costs.

After taking out Tandor Holly and her crew should be out of danger but it looks like his second in command has quickly stepped up to take control and he's far more cunning and ruthless than Tandor ever was. Now the stakes are higher than ever, especially since they have a chance to find out the secrets the gang were keeping on the quantum drive, all they need to do is track down a working pico computer to read it.

This series is quickly becoming a favourite, fast paced and full of action this is futuristic sci-fi with an edge and I couldn't get through this book quickly enough. Holly is taking her sustainer relationship with Daze seriously and she's determined to teach him enough survival skills that he'd be able to survive on his own if anything happened to her. Since she's quite tough and in control in most situations it's nice to see a softer side to her where Daze is concerned and the kid makes a great side kick. Case is still on the scene too but Holly isn't sure whether he can be trusted, he's lied to her so many times and it's obvious that he's still keeping secrets but he also saved all of their lives in the end so surely that has earned him a little leeway.

There's a lot going on in this story but I don't want to go into too much detail because I don't want to spoil anything, we get to see a bit more of Holly's crew and Claire has some interesting revelations about what is going on in the current government that are going to have a big impact on future stories. Holly is forced into some very difficult positions and she isn't going to get through this fight without suffering a few losses but she will never, ever quit no matter how dire the situation looks. I'm definitely looking forward to the next part of her journey when Danger's Race releases in December.

A great follow up to the first book in the series and even better, in my opinion. This one picks up where the last ended and this time Holly and her “family” are dealing with a new threat in town. Fast-paced and exciting. Definitely looking forward to book three. This is a very good dystopian future series. Very glad I found it.

I like Holly and her crew, and although the world in which they live is grim, they make the most of it. This isn’t Shakespeare, but good escapism. The book picks up immediately after the first of the series, and I look forward to the next.

Solid Futuristic Series

This series follows Holly Danger and her crew in a desolate future, as earth was hit by a meteor changing the landscape of the earth, which had been an advanced world. Sixty years after the meteor hit the sun is blocked by a constant haze. The bad guys in the second book is a hold over from book two. I really think the author is setting up a more evil bad guy as the series progresses. This book expands on the seekers, whom are people who either took a drug named plush or were injected. The drug plush is one that genetically alters the person DNA, making them mindless violent seekers needing their next fix.
The book was a good listen and the narrator was brilliant. This was a solid four star science fiction dystopian adult book.
FYI this isn’t a romance book.

Another excellent Holly Danger adventure; I love this kick ass female! She is smart, fearless, and still able to be as nurturing as a mother.

The narration is perfect, Emma Wilder reads as if she was made to be Holly. Along with her fearless team and new allies, Holly sets out to save her world, well, what’s left of it anyway.

Holly Danger is an excellent continuation to book 1, and with a cliffhanger like this one, I can’t wait for the next book! Another Huge 4 star book!

Another great book in the Holly Danger series. Danger’s Vice is a continues fight, this time against Tandor’s second in command. He is worse than his predecessor. This story is thought out, seeing to the minutiae of this new world. The gang is in search of a computer this time around and trying to unravel secrets pertaining to the quantum drive. Holly is trying to teach Daze everything she can so he can survive. Things are underfoot in the current government showcasing a bit of foreshadowing for future books. Holly is a fighter and I can’t get enough!

The Outskirts still have a plan to dominate the City, and it is related to Plush, a powerful drug that not only creates addiction but also changes the DNA of its user. Holly and her friends will need to find where these Outskirts are and fight back this menace.

After listening to the first book in the series, I was looking forward to this one. Holly is a badass woman fully dressed in black synthetic leather, which knows all the secrets in the City. She can be stubborn sometimes, but I really like this character and all the nuances in her personality. The characters from the previous book also appear here. They were not very developed in book one but it seems that we see more from them here and they become clearer to the reader.

I love post-apocalyptic, and I can’t have enough of it, but it is true that there are a lot of books of this genre lately, and many are just okay but forgettable. Not this one. The story trapped me from the beginning, and this is one of those post-apocalyptic stories where there is much more going on than what the characters know, and we will be discovering it along with them. Plush was introduced in book one but we didn’t get much information about it. Some questions are answered here, and some more will be answered in future books.

I found the last twist quite predictable, but that did not deter me from fully enjoying this book. I am looking forward to the sequels, and learn everything I can from this City and its surroundings.

Emma Wilder delivered a great narration and character interpretation. Some male voices sounded similar, but we have to take into account that all characters in this book are male, except for Holly and another character that has a small appearance towards the end. I think it is not easy. Anyway, Wilder’s voice range is quite ample, and her male voices sound very realistic. Her characters’ interpretations were also very professional, and this made easier identifying characters. I especially liked her interpretations of Holly and Daze.

I am really enjoying this series, and I am looking forward to the next books. Book three will be available soon, and I hope we book four will not have us waiting for too long.

I received a copy of this book in audio format from the narrator in exchange for an honest review.

And the story continues... It picks up right at the end of Danger's Halo, and you are once again thrown into the action. Holly and her friends are still trying to stay alive in a world that is crumbling around them. There is no rest and no safety, so all Holly can do is try to keep those she cares about safe. And, if she can take out those who want control, and make life better for everyone at the same time, even better. I love Holly! I love her selflessness that she sometimes denies. I love her bravery, strength, loyalty, determination, and no quit attitude. I also really enjoy Daze, with his too mature for a child personality. It seems honest in the harsh reality he has grown up in.
My favorite thing about this story, though, is the way Amanda Carlson tells it. She can capture the sights, smell, and feeling of the situation without just describing it. You see the world through Holly's eyes in a way that makes you live the story. The action scenes make my heart race and the scenes of heartache make me cry. The characters are so life like it makes me forget that the story is fiction, and when I am forced out of the story by the real world it takes me a few minutes to come back to myself. These things are what I love so much about Amanda Carlson and this story in particular; I forget I'm reading it, and I become Holly. I have recommended this book to everyone I know, and if you enjoy kick-a** female characters who can do it all then I recommend this book to you, too. I can't wait to read the next book!

The second book in the Holly Danger series continues on with the story, with Holly still looking for the “pico” that will allow them to access the quantum drive stolen from the crew that is trying to take over the city. They’re hoping it has information that can help them fight the addictive Plush that has ruined so many lives. Daze is recovering from his beating by Tandor, the evil leader of the outskirt crew, but Holly has determined that many of the crew are still out there and looking for revenge. Holly is their number one target and when she discovers more strange activities going on in the North of the city, she again has to wonder if Case is friend or foe since he keeps showing up. I love the fast-paced action and the descriptions of this apocalyptic world, and how the main characters are tough and resilient, no matter what gets thrown at them, especially Holly. It still isn’t clear whether Case is going to end up a friend or not, but it seems he shows up when he’s needed, so I’m hoping he will end up a great ally. I look forward to reading the rest of the series, I’m off to read Danger’s Race now.

We are at the second book of the Holly Danger series. Holly is still dealing with her and Daze almost getting killed, but she and her gang really need to find that pico to find out what is on the supercomputer that everyone is willing to kill for. However, she still doesn’t know who to trust. When some of her crew goes missing and some of her properties get destroyed, she knows she’s getting closer. But will she be the next thing destroyed? I think this book was even better than the first. We are getting deeper into the world that Ms. Carlson has created, and it is truly fascinating. We also get more glimpses into Case’s past, which also leads to some of Holly’s past. Because of how well-written this book is, and how great the plot is, my attention was held from the first moment I started this second book until the thrilling end. I, for one, can’t wait to read even more in this intriguing world. Highly recommend! Thanks to the author for the e-copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

I received this audiobook free for an honest review. And, I loved it. I couldn't put it down. This is the second book in the series and it was great. I don't usually like post apocalyptic stories, but this one is really good. There isn't any romance, but I can see that there could be. Holly is a strong woman, with a great mind and self survival skills. Amanda Carlson has done an excellent job with the characters and the flow of the story keeps you spellbound. The narrator has done a wonderful job with the characters. Emma Wilder does a great job of bringing out the personalities of each of the characters. So looking forward to the next in the series.

Really enjoyed this sequel to Danger's Halo. Several different things are going on at the same time in this book: recoving the quantum drive, finding Claire and Darby, determining what is the story behind people being so scared to share information....this story has lots of twists and turns. All of this, while Holly is trying to determine if Chase is really friend or foe? and why are there so many new seekers? This book will have you riveted. I was disappointed when I got to the end because I wanted MORE!!

This book follows directly on Danger’s Halo. Holly and her friends thought they could go back to 'normal' after they got rid of Tandor and company, and they could find the pico computer so they could decipher what’s on the quantum drive Daze stole. But part of Tandor’s crew remain in the city and have a new plan to control it. Holly’s still not sure whether or not to trust Chase, and as usual she works alone. But she’s taking her responsibility as Daze’s sustainer seriously. Carlson continues to build this world and the characters in it.

Loved this and the first book in the series. Definitely read the books in order, as they're written as a continuous story. All of the characters are strong and skilled in various ways, each having a past marked by hardships, violence, and loss.

I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys action,, some mystery, and strong relationships with their "family of choice".

A solid dystopian sci-fi read!

Danger’s Vice is the second gripping installment in Amanda Carlton’s addictive Holly Danger futuristic series. This story picks up right where the first book, Danger’s Halo, left off as Holly and her crew embarks on another riveting adventure determined to save what’s left of the world.

As this tale begins, we quickly learn that just because Tandor bit the dust in the previous installment, it doesn’t mean that the very real threat posed by his former crew has lessened. If anything, the danger element has intensified as Tandor’s second-in-command has quickly stepped up to take control and he’s even worse than Tandor was. This time, it’s not just Holly and her crew in the notorious villains’ sights: the whole city is.

Meanwhile, Daze, Holly’s retainer, is slowly recovering from his ordeal. Holly’s family has accepted Daze with open arms and Holly’s nurturing of him showcases her soft side.

Case also returns, but he has a way to go to be accepted by Holly. In the previous tale, he lied and put her life on the line. In his favor, he’s a wealth of information and he did save all their lives at the end of the first book.

Regardless, the stakes are high as the crew struggles to discover the secrets held on the mysterious quantum drive. First, they have to get their hands on a working pico computer!

Holly is a fantastic kick ass heroine. She’s smart, strong, tough, fearless, capable, innovative, assured and caring. Her friends are her family and mean everything to her. She will put her life on the line without hesitation for them.

I listened to the audio edition of Danger’s Vice which Emma Wilder narrates with a truly exemplary performance. Her voice is clear and easy to understand. The voices she uses for the multiple characters seem perfectly appropriate for them and they remain consistent through-out. She expresses the proper emotions and her pacing is spot-on. The end result is a polished, professional package which enhances the story. After listening to the audio, I can’t imagine not opting for the audio edition. I look forward to listening to her again soon!

If you are looking for a romance, you may want to look elsewhere. It’s not a romance – at least not yet, However, I’m holding out hope that there will be one in this series’ future.

I strongly suggest that this series be read in order.

I’m a huge fan of Amanda’s books and have quickly fallen in love with this exciting series. It’s fast-paced, action-packed, teeming with mystery and chock-full of perilous suspense. There’s a lot going on in Danger’s Vice and you won’t want to miss a second of the hoopla! If you enjoy solid dystopian sci-fi reads that are guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat, I’d encourage you to check out Amanda’s Holly Danger series. I can’t wait to dive into Holly’s next endeavor in Danger’s Race!

The book continues immediately where the first book ends and it is equally exciting. It kept me on edge the whole time and I could not stop reading until the end. Again, I am amazed how the author managed to make dystopian novel with so much hope and positivity.
The characters we met in the first book get more developed and the world expands beyond the first book, as well as the historical background. Some additional characters get introduced in this book. Holly is absolutely brilliant and the relationship between her and the kid she adopted, Daze, is developing further. Case is still very mysterious, regardless of the personal information he provides. The group cohesion is amazing with the intricate relationships between Holly and her friends, or more correctly, her adoptive family. Daze became my absolute favourite.
The world created by the author is grim, unforgiving and unpleasant, but surprisingly full of hope and possibilities. Not all is lost and Holly and her group and trying to get the best of it and save whatever they have left in hope for better, or at least unchanged for worse, future. As per usual, the author resolves the leftover issues from the previous book and the immediate events, but opens up a new set of issues and leaves many questions unanswered for the next book. So exciting!
The reading order is Danger's Halo (Holly Danger #1) , Danger's Vice (Holly Danger #2), Danger's Race (Holly Danger #3) - coming in December 2017, Danger's Cure (Holly Danger #4) - coming inn March 2018, and Danger's Hunt (Holly Danger #5) - coming later in 2018.

Equally as good as the last, full of twists and turns. I kept waiting for the betrayals and heart break and they certainly did come but often in unexpected ways. These books are definitely gritty and real. If I ever had to imagine what life would become if we got tech mad and then it all came crashing about our ears in disaster this comes very close to what I imagine could happen.

Holly's story picks straight up from where we left off and she hits the ground running. In an attempt to find out the secrets of plush (an addictive and life destroying drug - just how on earth are they making it? Answers will be sure to come) and find out what the outsiders are up to, Holly and her team are put in danger once more and they face personal loss and challenge even more than ever. This read, as with the last left me on the edge of my seat and my pulse up. I highly recommend these books and can't wait for the next.

I always worry about second books, they're sometimes a let down, but this book 2 is anything but a let down!

There's just as much action as there was in book 1 and there's intrigue aplenty. The pace of the book is excellent, it moves forward quickly without feeling rushed.

I love Holly as a character, her inner strength is impressive and her ability to remain calm makes me envious. Add to that the ability to think on her feet and her loyalty and you've got yourself a kick arse lead character.

The narration was excellent, I really enjoyed the character voices and the delivery enhanced the emotions and tensions throughout the story.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher in exchange for an honest review.
