Two brothers are in a car accident. Greg is killed. Keith is left with amnesia. And the only person he remembers at all is Emily - Emily who's obviously very pregnant. With his child?
In order to secure her baby's future, Emily pretends that Keith is right - and her life suddenly gets a whole lot more complicated.
Because Emily's falling in love with Keith - and his memory is coming back!
4 Stars ~ Emily is a sous chef for a prestigious hotel chain and in a moment of loneliness she misread the attentions of the hotel manager, Greg, whose family owned the chain. She'd thought he loved her, but quickly when their affair results in a pregnancy, she realizes just what a weak man she'd thought she had loved. When Greg tried to blame the payout cheque in his hand as his brother's demand, Emily didn't really believe him, but she wanted no pay off, and she tore up the cheque, and then transferred to the Oregon hotel in the chain. Months later, there's a horrible car accident that leaves Greg dead and his brother, Keith, with amnesia. Keith doesn't remember any of the people or events in his life, but he does remember his work. The family brings him home to the Oregon hotel, and there he sees Emily, and he insists that the baby she carries is his. Emily can see that Keith is everything she's ever wanted in a husband, so when he insists that he remembers her just not the details, she doesn't dispute him. He wants her with him, and they move into the family guesthouse, and as they get to know each other, they fall in love. After baby Rebecca is born, they seal their love and get married. And slowly bits and pieces of Keith's memory starts to return, and Emily knows she has to tell him the truth of their past.
I adore amnesia stories and this one was very well thought out and put together. I always cringe when an amnesia story starts out with a hidden identity as these always tend to blow up with very painful consequences, as this one does. But the love Emily and Keith share before the big revelation is heartfelt and very real. I really enjoyed Emily and Keith's journey to HEA.
She was betrayed by one man when she fell pregnant with his child. But his brother is the one who stepped in. The brothers were in a car accident and one died. The other was left to clean up his mess. But when it is revealed that he has amnesia things are getting deep. There is suspected embezzlement within the company. Who it is is the mystery. But after all is said and done will true love win out?
I took off a star because of the embezzling plot point. It wasn't blended well with the romance. There was already angst with the memory loss and wondering when it would return and reveal secrets without adding in the mystery.
