There is one thing Annie Hunter hates more than surprises and costumes . . . and it’s the last thing she expects to stumble on.
When a Halloween party turns deadly, Annie’s glow in the dark costume lights the path to a blood-soaked body. With killer frosting covering the body and the main suspect, the murder looks like it has solved itself. Unfortunately, clues aren’t always what they seem.
While rumors spread through the Black Cat Café like spilled cake batter, Annie refuses to believe that the main suspect is a cold-blooded killer. But she could be blinded by the frosting and rushing into a ton of trouble.
Only a twist of fortune can slice through the ties that bind Annie to a fatal fate!
Another great book by Lindsey Cole, this one is based around Halloween and we seem to have Ghoulies, Ghosties, long legged beasties and definitely something that goes Bump in the night.
Annie's day started badly and seems to be getting worse, her aunt Leona has managed to mix up ingredients so that their signature cupcakes and a birthday cake both are inedible. If this isn't bad enough when she gets home her new husband has an old friend round who has decided that all three of them should go to a Halloween costume party at an old school friend's house (Kitty, well named as she breed Maine Coon cats). Even though Annie isn't keen she agrees to go for her husband Jason's sake, she wasn't expecting to come across the body of her husband's friend Brian dead in the garden of the house next door to the party!, with Greta (the neighbour) leaning over him. Now Annie, along with her mother Mia, her friend Camilla and her neighbour Thelma, needs to find out who decided a real-life corpse would act as a Halloween vibe.
Halloween, cats, mystery and murder with several suspects add together to create an enjoyable readable book. My complaint is that though the murderer becomes predictable there are a double of loose ends that could have been knotted.
The story tells about a small town life, a Halloween party, and the murder mystery. This whodunit inspects all the suspects by having an employee question them. I didn't know until near the end of the story who did it.
The characters are relatable showing real emotion, sometimes funny, and very interesting. An unexpected twist when revealing who done it, makes you think that you didn't really suspect the murderer.
A great book that I recommend to the mystery readers.
What dose three friends, a cruel prom joke, and one out cast brother? Mix in jealousy , shake in rage, and a whole lot of cruel gossiping, along With a can of broken heart. Throw it into a blender mix it up....and you get Murder. Clues and suspects every which way, the problem is sorting them all out and tracking down the murder'er. Where's a good blood hound when you need one. A great who done it mystery. Read it today. Debra H.
Annie is back on the trail, she has a murder to solve. One of Jason's long time friends is murdered during a Halloween party. Who killed him, his brother, his girlfriend or someone else. This book is a can't put her down until I'm finished who done it. If you love cozy mysteries this book is one you will certainly enjoy.
Annie just can't seem to not get involved in the finding out the truth. When the one brother comes back to town after 20 years after he hurt poor Greta. What is the real reason for his return? Kitty thinks that he has come back for her. When she realized that he didn't!! Great setting and great interesting characters.
Lindsey Cole always manages to balance her characters and plots and end up with an impressive read. The reader finds mystery, love, compassion and quite a bit of quirky humor. This is an awesome and amazing story.
I have so missed the Black Cat Cafe with Annie, Leona, and the gang and all the fun times they have together. Not counting all the stuff that Annie gets into solving mysteries. I cannot wait to see what Lyndsey has in store for us and Annie.
I choose a four star rating because the story bounced around so much. I might have had a hard time following if the characters weren't so well written. TA TA for now.
Boo Buried Cupcakes is another winner in the Black Cat Cafe series. It was fast paced, breezy, & often surprising. Lyndsey Cole always delivers a fun read.
Cupcakes that taste terrible, a murder of a friend of Jason,at a Halloween Party. Anna to solve, the clue list is long, and it takes you to the end to figure it out. Nice cozy mystery to read.
What I liked about this book is how Annie and her friends came to help a neighbor find herself in a way out of her comfort zone. I would tell people this book and it's series is a great series to read.
