Russian collusion - espionage - secret KGB files - This story is a fast paced, political/espionage thriller that provides a frightening scenario of Russian collusion in a Presidential election. Mike Grainger, a Secret Service Agent and Vietnam veteran, is assigned to the protection detail of Presidential candidate, Jeb Stewart, a former Vietnam antiwar activist and current Russian 'mole'. Earlier in Moscow, during the collapse of the Soviet Union, a KGB clerk steals Jeb's top secret file from the old KGB headquarters. That file shows Jeb to be a traitor and worse, and in the hands of the Americans would destroy Jeb and his candidacy. When the clerk attempts to sell the file to the CIA, the Russians must stop him. The conflict between Jeb and his Russian spies, and Mike and a small group of government officials, surges as the Americans seek to obtain Jeb's file and release it's contents, while the Russians attempt to stop them. This creates a scenario of murder and mayhem; treason and assassinations; power and greed; that builds suspense to the last page. Combine this situation with the ongoing intrigue of a political election and the tension climbs with the possibility of a Russian 'mole' achieving the highest political office in the world. Finally, intruding on the whole plot are the lives of the Secret Service Agent's stepson, an African-American Naval Academy Midshipman, and his natural daughter, who is raped by JEB. That act brings forth all the emotions of two young people who must admit they love each other. As the Russians attempt to assassinate the daughter to keep her from charging JEB with rape, the stepson plots revenge to save his girl's life.
