Tough as barbed-wire cowgirl, Natalie Camden, lives by only one rule – trust no one.

Former Green Beret, Aaron Weber, is sexier than sin and twice as dangerous. He’s also war-weary and broken.

His friendship with Natalie has always been complicated.

He knows there are secrets she keeps hidden under that tough-girl façade. He also knows there is a more than enough soft heat and raw need deep within her to keep him satisfied.

When she asks Aaron to add benefits to their friendship, he agrees with a few conditions.

He’ll take her virginity all for himself and then teach her the power of submission.

She’ll show him how to loosen the binds of control he clings to.

The last thing either of them expected was the passion-ignited flashfire that burns bright enough to illuminate both of their dark pasts.

Aaron vows to find and destroy the man who hurt her.

Natalie seeks to understand the details of the mission that shattered him.

When her past threatens to make a reappearance on Camden Ranch, can she learn to trust him enough to keep her safe?

--------------------------------------------------

This is where I normally put a tongue-in-cheek warning about my sexy cowboys. While, Last Call, like all of the Camden Ranch novels that have come before it, has lots and lots of bed-breaking love scenes (no, seriously, there is a broken bed) it also deals with a few other things.

These are things I want to make certain none of my beloved readers might trigger from. This book deals with both Post Traumatic Stress from Aaron Weber’s missions in the Middle East and from the sexual abuse Natalie Camden endured during her childhood.

I tried with everything I am to handle each of these issues with a tremendous amount of respect, sympathy, grace, and dignity and I made certain there are no graphic descriptions of either event.

I always want my novels to be a sexy escape (and never to cause anyone any pain) so I wanted to make certain my readers are aware of what they’ll find between the covers of this book – one sizzling hot former Green Beret, one strong and sassy cowgirl, sexual discovery and erotic intimacy, every single member of the Camden family, a lot of laughter, a few heart wrenching moments, and a tremendous amount of healing and strength.

Jillian Neal

Bestselling author, Jillian Neal, was not only born 30 but also came accessorized with loads of books and adorable handbags in which to carry them, at least that’s what she tells people. After earning a degree in education, she discovered that her passion could never be housed inside a classroom. A vehement lover of love and having maintained a lifelong affair with the awe-inspiring power of words, she set to turn the romance industry on its head. Her overly-caffeinated, troupe-spinning muse is never happy with the standard formula story. She believes every book should be brimming with passion, loaded with hot sexy scenes, packed with a gut-punch of emotion, and have characters that leap off the page and right into your heart.

Her first series, The Gifted Realm, defines contemporary romance with a fantasy twist. Her Gypsy Beach series will leave you longing to visit the sultry shores of the tiny bohemian beach town, and her erotic romance series, Camden Ranch, will make you certain there is nothing better than a cowboy with some chaps and a plan. The sheer amount of coffee required to keep all of those characters dancing in her head would border on lethal, so she unleashes their engaging stories on page after page of spellbinding reads.

Jillian lives outside of Atlanta with her own sexy sweetheart, their teenage sons, and enough stiletto heels, cowgirl boots, and flip-flops to exist in any of the fictional worlds she brings to life.

Last Call by Jillian Neal is the fifth book in the Camden Ranch series. When Natalie asks her best friend Aaron to help her experience her first time, he can't believe that he is so lucky to be asked that by his crush. But Natalie and Aaron both went through some serious traumatizing events in their lives. And both do not really want to tell each other what happened. Can they trust each other or are they going to lose everything?

I am a little torn with this book. The blurb sounded very promising. Everything felt good. My heart bled for both of them. Being in the army is not an easy job and reading about what Natalie experienced is heartbreaking. I can't imagine how difficult it is to talk about traumatizing events like that. However, their stubbornness was a bit ridiculous. It was also super annoying that both went behind each other's back and researched about each other and tried to "solve the puzzle". It was a see-saw between "I trust you" and "I don't trust you". It annoyed me so much. There were other things in the book I did not like, but I can't remember them any more.

I wanted to give this book a 2 stars rating as I really did not enjoy it that much and it was so long-winded. It felt like ages to read it. But towards the end of the book, Aaron's friends The Seven just made up for everything. I want these guys as my best friends! They will definitely get you out of everything! They support you with every step you make, but tell you right in the face when you screwed up. I would read books written about their lives! These guys are worth 5 stars and more!

This book was not really my cup of tea. It was hot and sexy in some scenes, but long-winded in others.

I just loved Natalie and Aaron’s story. (The first line had me cracking up for a solid 5 minutes , I did not expect that) It deals with both PTSD for Aaron and Sexual Abuse for Natalie. Do not worry it doesn’t go into great graphic details, you just get small snippets and the rest is left for your imagination or beliefs about what happened.
I am in a way proud of Natalie for giving Aaron a chance to help her heal and “get over” what she has been though. I love that the two are wholly there for each and want to help protect each other heal, even if they go about it in the wrong way.

I found myself laughing and close to tears several times. I also love how the Camden’s back Aaron up and participate with him and the Sevens to get Natalie back. I loved the proposal and the wedding and the mending of fences. Needless to say I enjoyed every minute of this tale.

Now for that epilogue…I found my self curious and somewhat confused…Way to leave us guessing!!!!!!!! I can not wait to see what Mrs. Neal has in store for us readers next.

Like all of Jillian's books I highly recommend you giving this series as well as her other series a try.

If you are looking to read this please know this is book 5 in the Camden Ranch Series. Book 0.5 is Coincidental Cowgirl, Book 1 is Rodeo Summer, Book 2 is Forever Wild, Book 3 is Cowgirl Education, Book 4 is Un-Hitched and This book Last Call makes the 5th book in the series.

Jillian has two other book series you might want to check out, they are The Realm Series, and her Gypsy Beach Series (Brock and Hope’s story starts in the 4th Gypsy Beach series- Gypsy Hope). All of Jillian's books leave me wanting more and believing in true love.

Please note that I was mistaken. I wrote this review with the assumption that because all of the known Camden siblings were now married (as well as the title) that it was the final book in the series. It's not. There is one more book Wayward Son that introduces Mick Camden's illegitimate son Colton to the family.
Last Call is the 5th and final book in Neal’s Camden Ranch series. Camden Ranch has just been an okay series for me. I really liked the fact that Ms. Neal doesn’t follow the usual contemporary romance templates which means her stories don’t fit into the usual best friends to lovers, second chance at love, enemies to lovers, older brothers best friend lover, hot boss lover and the other tropes that dominate the genre. There’s nothing wrong with them but its nice to have something fresh occasionally. Her characters are interesting and it doesn’t take long to care about their stories. I’m a big fan of stories set in small towns, country and ranching communities and those built around supportive families or communities. The Camden Ranch series checks all of those boxes. As I’ve written in my other reviews of the books in this series I’m not a big fan of dom/sub sex and this being the authors efforts at an erotic romance series each couple pretty much falls into those roles. I’m also not a fan of the male lead spouting dialogue like, “I’m going to lick your sweet pussy and swallow all of your sweet honey and make you cum so hard all over my face.” That sort of ridiculous dialogue may turn on the female leads in this series but it just makes me gag. Unfortunately there’s quite a bit of that in this series. Despite that the stories were good enough to keep me reading right through this book the finale.
As stories go this one was pretty good. In this story we have Aaron Weber a former Green Beret with a serious case of PTSD caused by a misplaced sense of guilt over what happened to his platoon on his last mission. Aaron is working in the town of Pleasant Glen’s only bar Saddlebacks and seriously crushing on Natalie Camden one of the five Camden siblings and the oldest of two girls and the only remaining unmarried sibling. Natalie was sexually molested by her uncle Mick when she was eleven years old and is still suffering the after effects. Now almost thirty years old Natalie is still a virgin because attempting sexual intimacy causes her to have flashbacks to her uncle’s abuse. She was smitten with Aaron the first time she laid eyes on him and had dated him a year ago but when things began to get physical she freaked and ran out of his house. Now she’s decided she’s tired of her V-card, listening to her sister and sisters in law talking about their wild and satisfying sex lives, and she believe Aaron is just the guy to help her cash it in and find out what she’s been missing. Aaron happily agrees to help her lose her virginity while making it clear he wants a real relationship with her not just sex. The irony in their relationship is they are both aware that the other has psychological issues which they are determined to help the other overcome. At the same time neither has the courage to reveal the story of their past to the other so both try to secretly discover the details to the events that are torturing the other without revealing their own issues which they find too embarrassing and painful to talk about. He enlists his ex-Special Forces Army buddies called The Sevens to help him find out who molested Natalie so he can end him, since she won’t tell him and everyone who knows tells him it’s her story to tell. Natalie tries to pump her sister’s husband Declan who is Aaron therapist and his army buddies for details and only learns from Holly her sister, that he suffers from PTSD. Aaron’s former Army buddies who now run their own security firm have such a large role in this book I’m pretty certain they’ll get their own series.
Aaron has to deal with Natalie’s over-protective father and brothers while trying to win her complete trust and affection so she is comfortable making love with him. He also has a landlord who is a class A a-hole and a couple of elderly bosses who are nuts. I’m not an expert on sexual abuse but it seemed to me that Natalie’s ability to go from having a panic attack a year ago when things started to heat up to becoming a very wanton woman moved rather quickly in this story. I also find it hard to believe that a victim of sexual abuse would even secretly fantasize about being tied up or spanked which is the sexual activities dejour of this series. Even the scene where he holds her hands over her head while they share a passionate kiss I would have thought would have freaked her out, not turned her on. That aside there were a lot of very sweet moments in this story as these two fell deeper into love and fought through their issues to become a solid couple. This being the final book in the series I thought the author did a fair job of including all the main characters in the series in the finale. Each made at least a brief appearance with some minimal dialogue except Summer the female lead from the first book Rodeo Summer who was mentioned a few times but never really made an appearance. This was one of the better books in what I thought could have been a better series if the author didn’t try so hard to sex it up by the dumb dirty talk of the male leads and the heroines all secret desiring to be submissive.

an Awesome Book!

I absolutely loved reading Last Call: A Camden Ranch Novel Book 5, all about Natalie Camden the fourth child and the resident cowgirl on Camden Ranch & Aaron Weber a former Green Beret and Bartender at Saddlebacks the local pub in Pleasant Glen. Nag and Aaron were friends and had gone out a year ago but he frightened her and she never got over it! But tonight she went into Saddlebacks and asked him straight out if he would do her a favor! She waited until it was almost last call to make her request, and he told her he needed a bit more info before he could give her a straight answer. After last call was given the bar cleared out, he straightened up the back of the bar, said good night to the Owners Ed & Eliza his bosses and led Nat out of the bar. He said start talking, she bit her lip and said I want you to teach me how to & be my first! Of all the things she could of said, that was not what he was expecting! The author wrote a story about a young woman who was damaged from an incident that traumatized her from when she was a young girl to now, and about a young man who had overcome a painful childhood and war time hazards and was just as damaged and brought them together to navigate life on their terms! Read about Natalie & Aaron and see how they over come each other’s scars to live a life both need and want! I have read this entire series, from book 1 thru 5 and each one is better then the first!! I can not wait to read book 6!!! If you are looking to read an entire book series, let me recommend The Camden Ranch Series, you will not be disappointed, it’s about an entire family and how each one knew the minute they met their significant other they were the one, without a single doubt. It seemed that was a family trait, and each of them had it in them to find their soul mate the first time around!! I hope you enjoy this series as much as I have enjoyed reading it!!!

Last Call?!?!?!?! Say it ain't so! How can this delicious series be over? Sad reader right here. Anyone who has had the pleasure and smarts to read this entire Camden Ranch series will no doubt echo my sentiments. The author poured her heart into these characters, and we- her readers- appreciated and loved every single word!

Last Call is the story of tough yet innocent Natalie Camden, and hunky bartender (ex- special ops Green Beret) Aaron Weber. (Yep, you heard me right. An army guy that is totally swoon worthy!) They share a complicated relationship in which both want more than just the current friendship they share. They both however, harbor horrific and painful secrets that create a divide between completely giving themselves to one another. Some less than optimal choices are made by each of our protagonists throughout this story, all in the name of love, yet still having consequences they'll need to deal with if they want to stay the course.

In true Jillian Neal fashion, lust and love meets a very true-to-life theme in Last Call. The seriousness of what our beloved characters are facing, combined with the exploration of a new relationship is what makes Neal's stories explode off the pages. Fan girl for life!

Now- BRING ON THE SEVENS, I'M READY!!!

First time reading this author and I will be definitely looking for more of her books. You’ve got two people who’ve had some horrible things happen. Sex, trauma, and secrets and a little humor.
Natalie is a cowgirl down to her boots. Something happened when she was a child, so she didn’t have a regular dating life. Aaron was a green beret and works as a bartender. He and Natalie tried dating a year ago but she got spooked and ran from him. Now she wants to try again and she wants Aaron to take her virginity. Both are keeping secrets and neither wants to tell the other but each go behind the others back to find what the other is hiding. When she finds out how far Aaron went she gets mad. He’ll do anything to get Natalie back and realizes nothing is worse than losing her.
I didn’t like how she treated Aaron when she found out he’d lied to her when she did the exact same thing. A small cliffhanger.

Aaron and Natalie are 2 people who each are surviving life altering trauma. They both have broken edges, but somehow those edges are destined to fit together. Their story is a powerful one, beautifully told. He is a medically discharged Special Forces Green Beret who is dealing with PTSD and a very difficult family history. She is the survivor of childhood sexual abuse at the hands of a close family member, and the consequences of that haunt her every day. These sensitive subjects are handled so very well in this book. It is clear that the author really cares about the issues.

At its core the book is about the redemptive power of love and trust and honesty. Somehow this is also a book with genuine laugh out loud moments and good comic relief. The story pulls you in and never lets go. As the saying goes, it will give you “all the feels’” and a lot of passion too.

Emotional, heart-warming, sensual read!!

Holy smokes this was a terrific read.

Natalie has a trauma in her childhood, and asks her “best friend” Aaron to assist her with solving her virginity. Aaron was a green beret, but now suffers from PTSD. Her family, the Camden’s are a cornerstone of the town; and both protective and annoying. Aaron’s team is still in the picture and pulls some of their own investigative work to find details of her past.

This was so well written and encompasses such difficult topics. The relationship these two have and the support of their family and team create a synergy of love, hope and redemption that will have you laugh, cry and want to move to Camden Ranch.

Two tortured souls, Natalie and Aaron find their way to put their pasts behind them and find true love together. This book stayed me, the emotions that sprung off the page had me in tears numerous times. The journey both characters took to get to their HEA not only showed strength but the healing power of love. This story shows that even in the darkest of time there is always light and if a person truly believes in themselves good things can happen. This in my opinion is a must read. Another fabulous story from Jillian Neal. 5 stars are not enough.

Last Call the next book in the Camden Ranch series and boy what a read it is…so emotional that I laughed, cried and swooned and wanted to be right there to help them along. I liked how Jillian handled the PTSD for Aaron and childhood sexual abuse for Natalie and that made you root for these two as individuals and as a couple to help each other heal and to find their HEA.

Once you start this book you won’t be putting it down until you have read the very last word now will the Sevens get their own books????

Very significant choices we make

This book is one you will never want to see "The End". Dealing with very important subject matter. Jillian is incredibly effective in her character descriptions, very clearly you get to know her characters and feel their love of family and the love they share. This one has a particularly surprising ending, one I loved. Never ever has a book affected me like this one, I guarantee you will fall in love with Natalie and Aaron. And learn to despise Mick. Happy reading

It's weird to start in the middle of the series, but honestly I didn't realize it was a series until they started naming so many other couples and had to search it. You don't have to know the other characters or have read the other books, I just didn't realize. It definitely has triggery stuff in it, but the writer does warn you of that (at least on the amazon page). Spoilery maybe: I appreciated that therapy is addressed and treated as a possible first resort instead of the pair thinking love would fix their mental illness.

This is my first Jillian Neal book, but it definitely won't be my last, and definitely not my last of the Camden Ranch series. I now have to go back and read about the other Camden siblings.

Aaron and Natalie were such a great couple. I thought it was interesting how they battled their demons in such a similar fashion.

I thought the Sevens were pretty good too. I wonder if they are going to get their own books?

A great read for a snowy weekend. Or, any other time for that matter.

I really liked this book!! It covered some hard topics and the author did a great job writing about it and the aftermath of such things.

I fell in love with couple, loved how he knew when to step back and when to step forward. Loved how she knew what she wanted but just wanted to get there as fast as possible. He wanted to slow down and enjoy which is exactly what she needed.

Will definitely be reading more from this author.

This is the second book I have tried from this author and the second that was a DNF. This time I made it to 21%. The description was great, but there was too much talking, too much angst, too much alluding to things in the past and not talking about them. This is a premise that has been done many times before and there are too many good books out there to waste my time waiting for this book to get better.

Sweet

Ok. It's more bittersweet than just sweet. And cussing. Two hurting people find each other and finally feel ease. But what I really liked most is the preface that Jillian wrote. Prone to be kind in dealing with the pain they have and wanting to have a feel good read. She did as promised and I want more of the Camdens.
