Rachel Kent is back in town… After our first kiss on graduation day, he had left in a huff and became a SEAL because I had college plans. But great plans for the future don’t aways work out as expected.
Now, eight years later, he shows up at my family ranch looking for a job. I’ve always dreamed what it would be like to have my sexy cowboy back for more than just a kiss…
But he has a past… One he isn’t about to share with me. What is he hiding? Why does he keep pushing me away? The only time we seem to connect is during HOT sex because he’s dark and distant.
Am I just in love with a memory or is Kent still everything I ever needed, and more? Can I hope for a Christmas second chance?
Kent Rachel is still the woman for me… She’s all grown up, sweet and curvaceous as ever. Once, she pushed me away to do her thing, so I ran out of town, rejected!
But I came back hoping we would have a second chance.
Now, that she is my boss, I’m afraid history will repeat itself because I have PTSD. When she finds out, she will think I’m a coward with anger issues? Can I trust her with the truth? Will I lose my chance to hold her in my arms again and make her mine forever? Maybe my Christmas surprise will proved my love to her once and for all.
"A Distant Heart" is a STEAMY standalone story with no cliffhangers, and a guaranteed HEA.
Rachel had dreams of going to New York to fulfill her dreams of attending college. Her dreams were diminished as her dad Sam needed her help to run Pitchfork Ranch. Kent her friend wanted to marry Rachel but when he finds out she was going to college in New York Kent joins the Navy. Kent returns eight years later suffering from PTSD after seeing his friend die in his arms. Kent is hired by Sam to help Rachel run the ranch. Kent still loves Rachel but becomes distant due to his PTSD. With Rachel’s help Kent is able to deal with his PTSD. I really enjoyed this wonderful short-story western romance novel.
I received this free e-book from Amazon and I am voluntarily writing a review. Normally I love contemporary western romances and I was so looking forward to reading this. I was very disappointed and disgusted. This was riddled with poor grammar and misspelled words. Kent was a jerk using the excuse of PTSD for bullying medical personnel in the ER and always pushing Racheal away except when he wanted sex. Racheal was Valedictorian of her high school class so even though it has been ten years you would think she would be a little classier with her language in the bedroom.
If you’ve ever heard the old saying “star crossed lovers” this could be the book they were talking about. This is a very emotional love story about second chances and the heartbreak of loss. This was also a book depicting the raw emotions that eat away at a man’s soul while he is pining for the lost love of his life. Kent sure doesn’t make it easy for Rachel to love him this second time around. Come, one click for your copy and follow along on the journey while you discover the rest of the story. I received an advanced readers copy of this book and voluntarily gave my review.
I just read the titled story, it's 18 chapter full mini story. Kept my attention from the start, no wondering. They were high school friends but had feelings for more but fate happened. Kent is a born and raised cowboy, bronco rider but he is also a Navy SEaL on honorable discharged returned home for a quick visit. Rachel had her whole college life planned but her father needed her more. Their connection was great even when Kent was being an a$$, their sexy times was great but life has to throw a loop in their love....
This was a quick read for me, couldn't put it down once I got started reading. A well written perfectly paced story pulling you in from the start. Rachel left her dream behind to help her dad Sam run the Pitchfork Ranch. Kent left town and joined the military but came back suffering from PTSD. He finally finds a way to calm himself with the help of Rachel who he has always loved.
Rachel and Kent were the epitome of star-crossed lovers. It took eight years and getting over a lot of misunderstandings and bitterness to realize what they meant to each other.
'I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily reviewed it.'
What a beautiful well written story about second chances . I enjoyed reading both of the main stories and would like to read completely the other ones. This is the first book by this Author I have read but it will not be the last one.
cute romance, kind of choppy in the telling of the story. The character were a little flat but the feelings were with them. I think the dialogue was a little unconvincing though. I would read another Arabella Steedly romance if the opportunity arises. They are simple and to the point.
Rachel and Kent went to high school together. He was all set to marry her; she told him she was going to New York and college. Eight years later he's back in town.
Boy this was an emotional heart tugger! I loved how the story developed, held my breath through a lot of it. The characters were awesome, so real and warm.
