Family, Friends and Foes is the eleventh installment in Hope Callaghan’s Cruise Ship Christian Cozy Mysteries Series and is a wonderful, clean cozy mystery. Each time I read one of Ms. Callaghan’s books, I think it’s the best one and they can’t get any better, and then she writes the next one and amazes me once again. The story line is well plotted and the characters are affable. There’s an interesting mystery to solve, lots of activity, humor, and compassion. The book flows at a steady pace and there are plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader engaged. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well-crafted cozy mystery.
Millie is excited because she will soon be marrying Captain Niccolo ‘Nic’ Armati. Millie and Nic’s children will be on the cruise ship, but she’s nervous because she’ll be meeting her son, Blake’s new girlfriend, Erin, and Nic’s daughter, Fiona, for the first time. Nic’s good friend, Regan Leclerc and his wife, Nadia, invited the newlyweds and their families to their resort, the Grand Bay Beach Club, in Saint-Martin. Even though the wedding party learns there have recently been unexplained deaths at the resort, everyone agrees to stick to their original plan and stay at the resort. The Leclercs are being questioned and fear they will be linked to the deaths or, at the very least, their business will suffer. Millie says she isn’t going to get involved in the investigation, but once she meets Regan and Nadia and realizes Nadia is a lot like her, that soon changes.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
