A chance meeting and a spontaneous marriage proposal leads Logan Archer on a first date that turns his dull, unhappy life around. With her help, he finally lands his dream job. But what Logan really wants is his dream girl to spend his time with.
He’s certain that girl is Kayla. He’ll do whatever is necessary to secure a future with her.
Kayla Murphy might be able to turn down Logan’s many proposals, but she can’t resist his charm, his many nicknames for her, or his ability to make her laugh when it’s the last thing she wants to do.
But unwanted distractions threaten what these two are building together.
Lindsay Paige is the author of multiple Young Adult, New Adult, and Sports romances. She also enjoys writing books with characters who deal with anxiety and depression, issues which are close to her heart. Lindsay is a North Carolinian who loves watching hockey, sharing puns, having conversations with her two dogs, rewatching episodes of M*A*S*H, and living her dream of writing books for a living.
Steady was the first book in Lindsay Paige’s new Hearts in Carolina series.
Logan Archer was the sister to Sydney (It’s Our Time, book three Carolina Rebels). He had just graduated from college and was looking for the perfect job. He had been somewhat of a playboy in college, never settling down, but he definitely wasn’t looking for the perfect girl. However, he heard an angel voice singing in a coffee house and it was all over for him.
Kayla Murphy was a college student but played music as a hobby. It was her true love but her parents wouldn’t allow her to focus on it over her studies. She had high standards for dating and wasn’t going to be swept off her feet easily.
Steady was a sweet new adult series with a storyline of relationship building - one that started with attraction, but was built through getting to know each other slowly. It was also a story of family adjustments and learning to live with the changes, many of which were painful.
It was a fairly quick read, was totally g-rated (except for the inference of sex, but included no details) and held many life lessons. It also had a little bit of suspense, although the mystery ended a little abruptly and wrapped up a little too nicely to be plausible, but it did add an extra dimension to the storyline.
All in all, it was a sweet new series with an awesome epilogue. Paige also introduced quite a few new characters within the storyline as teasers for what’s to come.
I have read all of the Carolina Rebels books that are out so far and I wanted to see what Lindsay Paige would do with Logan. You met him in Sydney and Ian's books, Us At First (very little of him if at all) and It's Our Time. I like Logan and honestly I feel like the book really showed a lot of the struggle when you leave college. You don't really feel like an adult and you have to find a job but just a couple of months ago, you were in jeans, t-shirts and tennis shoes. It is a weird time. I liked Kayla too. She is young but not immature. She has her own problems with dealing with her parent's divorce and keeping her parents happy with her major. It sounds weird but I remember thinking my parents were going not going to like my major and I considered changing it. These are real college struggles. Logan and Kayla hit off from the first moment but have some problems too. I really felt like this book captures real problems and growing pains. There is a little bit of mystery along with some comedy.
I am giving this book 4.6 stars out of 5. If you are snowed in today, go get this! Even if you aren't, go get this!
Hearts in Carolina is Lindsay Paige's newest New Adult series. Book 1 (Steady) features Logan Archer (a minor character in Lindsay's Carolina Rebels hockey romance series). You do not have to read the Carolina Rebels series prior to reading the Hearts in Carolina series, however I did. I really liked Logan in the Carolina Rebels series, so I was looking forward to reading Steady.
I enjoyed reading Logan's journey to finding "the one". Lindsay definitely kept us on our toes from the first time Logan meets Kayla Murphy. The novel was sweet and funny, with some more serious moments as the plot developed within the novel. I'm so glad that Logan finally got his HEA!
I love Lindsay Paige's books. I recommend Steady if you are looking for a good NA series to start!

This was a great "life" read! There's some drama, but for the most part, it's just a really sweet, fun story about a guy & a gal who meet, date, and follow the path of a relationship.
Logan's got a colorful past when it comes to the ladies, but from the moment he hears Kayla's voice, he's done for. *grin* Neither of them are perfect, and they make some mistakes, but they handle their business maturely & with a touch of humor. It was a different and refreshing way to tell their story!
And this happened to be the second book in a row I read where NICKNAMES played a key role in the banter, and I LOVED IT! Thumbs up! : )
