Carly Stewart put everything she owns in storage before leaving her live-in boyfriend in New York to pursue happiness.
While staying temporarily at her family's vacation home on Seashell Island, Carly runs into an old family friend, Beauregard Romano. However, Carly is pleasantly surprised that Beau is no longer the same scrawny boy she remembered. She can’t deny that he's certainly transformed into a sexy hunk over the years.
She’s successfully self-employed, has an unrefined vocabulary, is a wine enthusiast in the prime of her life.
He's a single father of a three-year-old daughter and the preacher of the only church on Seashell Island.
Will sparks fly between the two? Can they make their differences work? Or is it best to ignore the sparks and pretend they don’t exist?
Brenda Kennedy is an award winner, an Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and a Publishers Weekly bestselling author. She is a true believer of romance. Her stories are based on the relationships that define our lives - compassionate, emotionally gripping, and uplifting novels with true to life characters, that stay with her readers long after the last page is turned.
Her varied, not always pleasant background has given her the personal experience to take her readers on an emotional, sometimes heart wrenching, journey through her stories. Brenda has been a struggling single mom, a survivor of domestic abuse, waitress, corrections officer, hostage negotiator and a corrections nurse. She is also a wife, mom, and grandmother. Even though her life was not always rainbows and butterflies, she is a survivor and believes her struggles have made her the person she is today.
Brenda is the author of the award winning book, Forever Country (The Rose Farm Trilogy Book 1). She has been dubbed "The Queen of Cliffhangers" by her adoring readers because books one and two always have a cliffhanger ending. In Brenda's own words, "I write series that end in cliffhangers, because I love them. I always give away the first book in each series so you have nothing to lose by reading it."
She was born and raised in Zanesville, Ohio and moved to SW Florida in 2006 with her husband Rex. They have a combined family, and she often jokes about not remembering what child belongs to who.
Home on Seashell Island was a pretty cute and quick book to read. In it, you will meet Carly. Now she is about to leave everything she knows in New York to pursue her own happiness. While at her family's vacation home she has a little reunion with Beauregard, aka Beau.
They were honestly really cute together and it was pretty clear that they had great chemistry. Plus his daughter was adorable throughout the entire book. Besides them, the side characters were actually pretty entertaining and likable as well. Then there's the descriptions of the entire island and the history behind everyone and everything in it that made the book even more interesting.
Not sure if Seashell Island actually exists or not but if it does, I would love to go there.
Another wonderful book by Brenda Kennedy. This story will have you wishing it was a cliffhanger like she usually writes just so you can have more of the characters. You not only fall in love with the two main characters but you fall in love with the supporting stars as well. It was a sweet story of falling in love when you think the differences may be to strong. I look forward to seeing what happens next on seashell island.
Home on Seashell Island is filled with heart-warming love, devotion, and humor. Her characters express family values, yet embrace the reality of situations that many families face in life. This story expresses disappointment, betrayal, and the fortitude that her characters possess to bounce back from their adversity and embrace the love that surrounds them. If you’re looking for a book that will transport you to a place where love triumphs, then this book is a must-read. I was drawn into the picturesque description of this Island, and its history with the families that lived there from the first page. I fell in love with Carly, Sarah, Beau, Myra, Tony, and the cast of characters that call Seashell Island home.
So this is the first book that I read by the queen of cliffhangers that wasn't a cliffhanger and at the end I kinda wished it was. I wanted more of this family and this story. I loved the twist of a preacher dating and found myself wondering what that would be like. It definitely opened my mind up a little more. Everyone deserves love right? Another thing I enjoyed about this book was that it was told from multiple perspectives not just the two. It made me wonder if the second book of there is one will tell Sara's story . Overall a good quick enjoyable read that I definitely recommend!!
I wasn't expecting to fall so deep into this story, but I did and I don't regret a single second of it! While this is not your typical Brenda Kennedy leave you hanging cliffhanger, it still makes you want and need more of these two characters who couldn't be more different!
Another awesome book by Brenda Kennedy which is not a cliffhanger. I just loved the relationship with the two main characters and the sister who made me laugh out loud.
Told from different pints of view, this story follows Carly Stewart as she leaves behind life in New York to head to the family owned home on Seashell Island. Carly runs into old friends and family as she tries to settle in.The books is a romance, but also has a few twists. At first, I didn't care for the character of Carly because she seemed a bit snobbish. Following her story changed my mind and I found myself cheering for her. Good romance.
A wonderful read for vacation or just to read. Story about a woman who decides what she is doing with her life is really not what she wants. So she goes back to her roots and brings some of her family with her. And there she finds what she has always wanted after some mishaps and drama..I loved this short story even tho it's a stand alone book. So used to Brenda's cliffhangers but this was a pleasant surprise, for the story to end here. But there are other characters mentioned so hoping they also get a story.
A great story about love, joy and new beginnings! I loved Carly. She is someone I want to know for real. Starting over in her family home on Seashell Island, she reconnects with someone from her past. She hardly recognizes the man he has become! There are a few unexpected turns but no cliffhanger this time! Find out if Carly and Beau have a happily ever after !!
Another wonderful book!!! it has become my new favorite. I will say it was different for the fact the queen of cliffhangers didn't leave it as a cliffhanger. But she put love in her characters. It's worth it all the way!!! thanks brenda for another great read you rock!!!
I really enjoyed this book alot! You always manage to write an amazing book that keeps you waiting to see what happens next. Your first stand alone book was definitely a success to me! Now I am waiting on the next one. Thanks for always giving me an amazing reading experience.
I love a good feel good story. This is exactly what home on seashell island is. A great book to curl up with. Be warned you may sit a little bit longer than planned. Brenda Kennedy is known for her cliffhanger trilogies where two of the three leave us hanging high on that cliff. She threw us for a loop this time when she told us she was writing a stand alone book with no cliffhanger!!! Wasn't sure what to expect but I knew I would love it because well, it's Brenda Kennedy and she knows how to tell a story. I loved this book. This would he a fantastic beach read but if you aren't living in Florida like me, this would be absolutely great to curl up on the couch or favorite chair with a nice comfy blankets and a hot cup of tea. I loved all the characters and their back stories. Brenda has a way to make you feel like you actually knowntyese people in real life. I read this in one day. I just wanted to keep going to find how more. Definitely a cute feel good book. 100% this gets FIVE ***** stars from me. Great job Brenda! Ready for your next book!!!! ❤⛱❤⛱❤
If you've ever read any or Brenda's books you know its almost impossible to not fall in love with all of her characters, the same goes for Home on Seashell Island. Brenda has this amazing gift to make us see a part of our selves in her characters. I know I can personally relate to a lot of the struggles Carly endures in this book. That being said Home on Seashell island is an amazing book filled with hope and love. After Carly decided to leave her live in boyfriend, she finds herself moving into her families beach house on Seashell Island. Trying to figure out what her next more in life is going to be seems to be harder than she thought. After reconnecting with a childhood friend Beau, things seem to be looking up. Will the feelings shes feeling for Beau be her future or will they only be another regret she has in her past. Thank you again Brenda for continuing to let me read for you! Your truly AMAZING!!!
OMG this book was amazing I love the way the story went okay some of it was rated r but I kinda just jump over that lol. But I love the way it played out as well as a true story.
Bit miffed actually. I was enjoying this story right up to the point where it becomes 'religious'. You know what I mean - one of the characters starts to think about going to church and then there's the sweetly icky:
'When did I lose faith in God? Have I lost faith? I pray and and I believe in a higher power so why don't I attend church?
My real problem with this is that there is NO warning in the blurb The book is supposed to be Humorous comedy and romance, not religious.
I was also rather perturbed that a priest/pastor? asked a total stranger to watch over a group of young children without ANYONE supervising her! Yes the priest is 'across the hall and he says he witll 'leave the door open but, really?? Come ON!!
What would YOU say if it was your child being looked after by a total stranger whose name you do not even know? Nope.
Anyway, I'm dnfing because of the churchy aspect. I've recently had a very unpleasant experience with someone trying to force their 'christian' beliefs on me and this just made me fell a little too uncomfortable. But that is my problem and therefore I won't rate this book. Up to that point the writing was lovely.
Brenda told a wonderful story about living in Seashell Island and how a family can come together after some sad happenings in their lives. God is so beautiful showing his wonderful love in the characters I this story. It was so hard to put down for Brenda brought the next chapter to help you see there is Love an forgiveness to make something beautiful. Loved this story.
This was very hard getting into but I really didn't want to put it in the DNF pile so I keep reading. Around 1/3 of the book it started to get a little more interested. This story went from a 3 star to a 4 star and left me looking forward to the second story in the series. There are no cliff hangers, the story has a good closure and no need to read any other in the series to complete the story, however I would like to read about the sister which I believe is the next book.
I really loved this book. My favorite books are when the writer has a different stories for every one get a different story but a main story is about 2 or 3 people. Kathleen Ryan
This was a nice clean easy read. The characters were well defined, and there was a good many memories brought to mind. Remembering when family members were close, even if separated by miles. It was a nice second chance read, that included multiple generations of relatives of the characters.
A simple story well told characters were very believable and difficult topics sensitively tackled.I really enjoyed the story I would recommend it to anyone.
