The Socially Skilled Child Molester

Know what signs indicate a child molester!

Revealing the secret but successful strategies used by child molesters allows adults to intervene long before children are abused. The Socially Skilled Child Molester: Differentiating the Guilty from the Falsely Accused identifies how socially proficient molesters successfully ingratiate themselves into families and communities. The book closely examines their techniques and strategies while detailing the tools for prevention. The difficult issue of false accusation is tackled by learning the distinctions that clearly differentiate the actions of the guilty from those who are innocent. Practical recommendations for accurately assessing danger and managing safety are provided.

The Socially Skilled Child Molester focuses on the sexual deviants who 'groom' family, friends, and their community to allow their activities, though arousing suspicion, to go on without restriction. This essential source reveals their tactics. Using composite representations of various types of child molesters, the author illustrates through case history and detailed research how these offenders succeed, while providing recommendations on how communities can stop enabling and protecting such individuals.

The Socially Skilled Child Molester discusses in depth: The Socially Skilled Child Molester comprehensively brings together helpful strategies and vital information essential for parents, lawmakers, police, teachers, and therapists.

This is an excellent book. Maybe giving each profile nicknames is a bit offputting. And I would like to know more about how composite profiles work and how they can be trusted scientifically and how the research is obtained. And I personally (but this is probably part of the problem) had some trouble differentiating between profiles of molesters vs. Truthful Tim.

But overall I am deeply impressed with this book. I think the police need to read it. CPS. All institutions like schools, camps, sports leagues etc who deal with sexual abuse allegations. And at least one member of every shul board because it happens far too frequently that abusers are embraced by the community.

This book details how to spot patterns of grooming of ADULTS. How to make sure parents with concerns are talking to each other--because the tactics that many molesters use allows individual allegations to stay quiet enough that new victims are usually unaware of previous allegations.

The point about statistics being inaccurate in these types of cases because there are often hundreds of allegations that don't come to light and therefore are being inaccurately reflected in studies that predict danger and recidivism rates is well taken.

This book is short--about 3-4 hours of reading. I was not expecting to blitz through it like I did. It's concise and efficient and the more people who read it, the more we can implement the suggested policies.

One of the best books on this subject. I teach child sexual abuse prevention and I recommend this book at every training. It is a small and dense book, there is no fluff. This should be a must read for every person who works with kids or has kids. This should be required reading to get your teaching credential, become a licensed child care provider, nurse, doctor, or run a youth-serving organization.

She was spot on with her observations and discussion. Which is sad. There is soon much work to do in this area. It isn't enough to teach children how to speak up. These guys groom the adults too. We, as adults, need to know this stuff, so we can speak up and protect our kids too.
