Oh, I struggled with this one. After reading a book on kindness, I am struggling to make this note a kind one.
If you are planning to self-publish a book that you’ve written, this book is not for you. It’s a guide (not quite clear) on creating books and self-publishing them. Books written by ghostwriters. It guides you on how to find writers, cover designers, and create a team that works for you.
In some sections, the content is repetitive and confusing.
This book needs an updated edition (since there are changes with the platforms mentioned inside) and an editor. Although the author advises you to edit and proof your books yourself, this one needs an experienced editor.
This is a great book if you are a non-fiction writer or want to become some authority inside your field through books. I didn't like it because it's most about outsourcing everything like your book writing. Even though is great to build a brand, it definitely makes me wonder if they are really going to care so much about quality as the book recommends. Actually, the book itself has a LOT of punctuation issues, so it makes me a litlle skeptic about their recommendations. Anyway, if you want to learn how to build your brand through books in Amazon or help it with that tools you are going to love it.
As this book was free I can’t really complain as all it cost was my time reading it. However, it is 170+ pages long of which at least 50% is just repeating what it has already said. In its defence it does state it isn’t for fiction writers but that was only once I had started reading and as, unfortunately, I’m no quitter, I carried on hoping for a nugget of wisdom. I kept on hoping but I didn’t find it. If you want to know how to self publish without actually writing anything, fiction or nonfiction, then you may find it more useful.
I liked the information about front and back matter when formatting your book for self-publishing. Also, there were clear instructions on formatting in KDP. A good portion of the book was about creating non-fiction books, which I don’t write, but I’m sure it would be extremely helpful for those who do.
I found this book so helpful. From start to finish it answered my questions and made the process doable. I am looking forward to publishing my own book and will use this book as a main tool.
One of the best books inspired me to write my books. After reading James Bell, my hesitations went away and I started to trust myself, and my writing style. This book cleared many questions and guided me with many ideas. Soon I will publish my book. Thanks, James - for the supportive, informative book.
Logically written and organised, this is a concise and well explained guide for publishing a book on KDP. Whether you are writing fiction or nonfiction, this is a valuable guide and also containing a host of valuable tips. I recommend this book for self-publishing authors.
Poorly written. The book is lengthy in a very inconvenient way; a lot of the contents are simply repetitive. The punctuation of the book is incredibly annoying as loads of full stops appear at places where commas should be.
