"You're on my treadmill." For the reader, it was a great opening line! For Ava, not so much. Doing nothing but trying to workout to get over her ex, she comes face-to-face with Dr. Keith Miles, an OB/GYN with a touch of OCD. He liked to use the same treadmill every morning at 7:45, and everyone at the gym knew it, everyone but Ava, and Ava didn't give a fig. Determined to put the rude doctor out of her head, she pushed herself to the point of exhaustion and ended up needing his services when she passed out.
In true Jan Romes style she gives us a romantic tale of true love riddled with real life. Keith is a workaholic who is really just running from intimacy and the memories of his childhood. Ava is a sweet girl who has a habit of picking losers to date. Both of them are coming off bad relationships and their meeting is sure to cause a thunderous clap of 'oh hell no' throughout Ohio, but it doesn't. They both find something in each other they weren't expecting the first night they go to dinner. The love affair continues, until that thing called real life kicks in.
I won't say anything more, but I will say, you have to grab Two More Miles, a cup of coffee and a blanket, because you won't be able to put it down until the last page. I've been in a reading funk, but I'm not any longer! This book took away the heaviness and released the happy in my heart, like all of Jan's books do. I used to say my top favorite book of Jan's was Stay Close, Novak, but that's been moved to number two, replaced by the wonderful story of Ava and Keith, Two More Miles gets five romantic treadmills from me!
Every now and again, you come across a book that captures you from the first page. You fall in love with the characters and they become real people. You can’t read the book fast enough, but then you want to slow down because you don’t want the story to be over. You become annoyed when life gets in the way and you have to stop reading. Too More Miles is one of those books.
I suppose I should be more specific about this wonderful book. I loved the characters because they were real people with real problems. Even though I loved them, at times they frustrated me, especially Dr Keith Miles.
The story wasn’t predictable. There may have been times when I wanted to physically enter the pages to steer the characters in what I considered to be the right direction. Remember the series “Father Knows Best”? In this case, I can definitely say Jan Romes knows best because she led me down a path, via few detours, but it was a beautiful journey which left me with a smile on my face even though I was awake much later than I intended.
And the best thing of all? I’ve discovered a new author that I love (Thank you Katie Mettner) and I have lots of books I look forward to reading. BTW, you have to wait until the end to find the significance of the title.

I really enjoyed this romance by Jan Romes. With witty dialogue and great chemistry between Ava and Keith, it was quick to read as well as being emotionally satisfying. I would highly recommend this book and this author.
