Maggie Black's story is action packed, and filled with questions about whom to trust. Your friends? Yourself?
Love and lust, and the complicated political connections to an agency of any kind make life and love full of land mines.
Lots of action and adventure, with twists and turns galore. And yes, some steamy stuff too. And yes, trusting her friends and lovers, or not, and trying to know which version of herself to trust are central to her survival. How can you know how you really feel if you aren't sure who you really are? Which choices in your life can literally get people you care about hurt or killed?
In a world where the safety of nations is on the line, is there a place for a love that makes you want one person's safety more than anything else?
Do you enjoy reading about action, adenture, steamy stuff and intrigue? A lot of fun without the need for a flak jacket!
Interesting start for a series. The main character is a hired assassin. The Unit is hired to eliminate bad guys. An author trying to be the next James Patterson. Does a fair job of accomplishing his goal.
I would prefer that Vendetta had come before Kill Order in the set. Kinda spoiled the second story..... Stephanie Plum I don't think so but Maggie can stand on her own two feet. Enjoy it ... espionage...friends and foe
Thrills, suspense, excitement, action, adventure -- it's all in there! Well written, fascinating characters, especially Maggie, and loads of fun! A new series to follow!
I was hooked from the first book. I will be following these books as closely as I can and picking them up as quick as I can. I am enjoying the characters and the fast-paced action. Can not wait for the next book to come out.
I chose to purchase these books because they were reviewed as being like a Stephanie Plum novel. This was a good book with none of the whit or humor of a Stephanie Plum novel. Worth the read.
Absolutely fantastic series and well worth every penny. Fast paced dialogue, brilliant and thoroughly believable characters, great plot lines and more twists than a tangled garden hose.
I enjoyed this novel with Maggie Black. The characters were very good. And I am looking forward to more in this series. The ending was a nice surprise.
Introduces Maggie Black, an agent with The Unit, which takes on tasks the government wants to keep hidden.
In Kill Order, Maggie is framed for killing the Mayor of London, and has to discover who is really behind it. Vendetta is a prequel story, looking in more detail at one of the events mentioned in the first book.
There's nothing unique or original in either story (both are slightly predictable), but they move along at a good pace and there's always something happening.
Bit repetitive in places - whenever Maggie and her boyfriend are about to get down to some "snuggle time", it always tells how she bites his lip, and he moans. (Probably he's trying to tell her to stop biting his lip).
Kill Order was better than Vendetta (in my opinion), due to a wider range of characters on both sides.
I love how these books are so fast paced and full of action. There's adventure on every page and Maggie is the much needed kick ass heroine the spy world has needed. Although I absolutely adore Maggie, I am Team Ashton all the way. He's so funny and I really loved the scenes he was involved in. I can't wait for more Maggie Black. I also love how Jack Mcsporran has such a fantastic way of describing places. Really makes you feel like if you close your eyes you are on the streets he is describing! What a talent!
I did not finish this and just stopped reading. I tried to make a shelf of "Just put it down" but couldn't. Maybe it was just me but I found the writing to predictable and lacking a plot line to keep me reading. Sorry I took the Good reads advise to start it...
