4.5 stars. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Another mesmerizing read by Ms. MacRae.
Love this author!!!!
After I finished "Lady Sun" also by Marni, I soon realized that I wouldn't be able to wait very long before cracking this next one open (I surprizingly managed to last 3 days and 2 books).

This author's books really do need to come with a public warning: ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK. Once you start reading this you will become instantly addicted and won't be able to STOP until you finish. Please act responsibly and schedule all reading time accordingly.

I was immediately entranced by Eve's journey as she awakens in a field with no memory or awareness as to how she might have got there. Luckily she is picked up by Nick a kind-hearted construction guy as she wanders shoeless and shivering along a deserted highway in the rain. He takes her to a nearby hospital, where she finds herself in a small town surrounded by strangers. When she admits to not even remembering her own name it is Nick who christens her Eve.

Naturally a big part of this book is the search to find out who Eve really is and where she might have come from but the real journey here is one of self discovery. Eve may be dependant on the kindness of strangers but as she struggles to adjust to a confusing world it is in fact she that has such an overwhelming positive effect on the lives of everybody else that she meets in Brighton Valley. She is also naturally curious about so many things and almost takes a child like pleasure at new wonders especially relating to food. I totally adored her!!!!

It isn't all lightness and joy here though, especially as it becomes clearer that Eve's memory loss is probably associated with some terrible "traumatic or disturbing" event that has triggered her brain into protecting her psyche from further harm.

The pacing of this book is absolutely perfect . It is largely character driven and a romance readers dream: full of love, laughter and tears. It has charm and intrigue with a couple of really powerful twists at the end.

I SO LOVED THIS BOOK, it was very well written.... and also captivating.....it was a majorly enjoyable read.
I cannot wait for Marni MacRae's next release!!!!
THIS IS ONE OF THOSE BOOKS THAT I WANT TO RECOMMEND TO ALL OF MY GOODREADS FRIENDS and while you are at it be sure to pick up a copy of "Lady Sun" also!!!!

I love books where the amnesia trope is used and that’s why, I didn’t hesitate to pick up this book. However, sadly, it didn’t live up to my expectations.

The book is a solid 2,5 stars for me but not 3. As gr doesn't allow half points, I have to lower it to 2, sorry :(

Here are my problems about this book:

1. The book is 397 pages and it is overly descriptive…
Way too descriptive.
Killing you with boredom-descriptive!

Normally, I would have dropped such a book. However, at the same time, as the nature of the book is suspenseful, the book keeps you interested in its mystery; therefore, I kept going.

2. The writer gives you clues about the reasons of her forgetting all about her past and waking up in a cornfield with no memory. And you, as a reader, have the only assumption, given those clues.

She can play the piano but she doesn’t know what a TV or cell phone is. She has no idea about the internet, or DVD, or even latte. Nothing about the products of modern day life. But she can play a piece from Bach.

Of course, one can only have the prediction that What else would you think, given these clues, right?

So I was saying to myself that it can’t be that simple and I was waiting for a “Wow” factor in the end. I was expecting to say, “Oh, I didn’t see that coming…”

Unfortunately, whatever I predicted and assumed was true and I was not surprised at all. That’s why the whole story felt flat. And I ended up so very disappointed about the suspense part of the book.

3. As for the romance, that part of the book didn't satisfy me, either. I must say that I loved both main characters. I loved the girl, I loved the guy. They were so easy to like. But their falling in love happened too fast! Too too fast! And too easily and smoothly...

Although their feelings so very quickly developed, I tried to embrace it… until they had unprotected sex! I hate it. Unprotected sex with a stranger is stupid and dangerous. Why would writers encourage that, I wonder…

And a virgin going for round two half an hour later and getting on top and leading it sounds too incredulous to me. Just my humble opinion.

I think writers, for whatever reason, do not want to be realistic about virgins.

4. I didn't like the ending.

All in all, it is not a bad book but it was not good enough for me, sorry :(

(P.S. For readers who are interested, it is a safe book with no cheating.)

Nameless should come with a disclaimer that says "one you start reading you won't be able to stop"! I was immediately pulled into Eve's world and I wanted to solve her mystery as much as she did. You start her new life with her, in a strange town full of good strangers who surround her with kindness. The steady pace of this book makes you feel like you know the characters personally and I caught myself gasping put loud during a few of the surprising twists! The end was an absolute curve ball, but in the very best way. READ. THIS. BOOK. !

It's been a while since I read Marni MacRae's Lady Sun, but I remember clearly loving the pants off that story, so when I heard she had a second book out, I immediately picked up a copy and tore right into it. I was not the least bit disappointed.

A girl is found, wandering a cold, rainy Kentucky highway, shoeless, shivering, and with no memory of who she is. She is picked up by Nick, a good-hearted construction worker who immediately finds himself drawn into her plight. She doesn't even remember her own name, so he christens her Eve.

I fully expected that the story would be an investigation of exactly who Eve is, where she came from, and what caused her to lose her memory. And while that was part of the story, it was by no means the most significant part. Rather, the story centered on Eve's insatiable curiosity and how her sudden appearance dramatically affects those around her. She joins the small community of Brighton Valley with the innocence of a child, completely ignorant of things like cell phones and Starbucks and the Internet, things the rest of us take for granted. But more than that, the characters that Ms. MacRae placed around her are drawn into Eve's story as much as I was.

This story repeatedly warmed my heart and then broke it as it alternated between happy, sweet, funny moments and sad, traumatic ones. I found myself turning page after page, anxious to see how the mystery would resolve itself. The ending left me completely satisfied, and anxiously awaiting whatever marvelous story this author puts out next.

This intriguing tale of a woman’s journey to literally find herself will leave you speechless, spellbound and in tears- both of joy and sorrow, but mostly joy ;-)

Open scene with a rainy, cold night in a corn field, alone with bare feet and complete loss of memory- that is where Marni Macrae drops you. From there, the reader is plunged into a mysterious and heart-warming story as Eve tries to remember who she is, as her memory is completely gone. She has awoken in Brighton Valley, Kentucky and is rescued on the road by a handsome and compassionate man, Nick Donovan, who has the patience of Job. His need to protect her is endearing.

Eve was absolutely adorable and brings out the precocious inner child in all of us. Over the course of the story, she meets an array of sweet and lovable characters, including a telling of the beautiful side story of love and loss of Ezra’s. I was taken with the romance, the suspense and the community in this book. It was very beautifully written and depicted.

I loved Nick. He was strong, passionate, and a wonderful hero for the story. I was especially taken with Tuck for obvious reasons…spoiler- he’s a cowboy.

Nameless had all a romance reader could want- laughs, tears, anguish, love, family and intrigue. I was especially drawn in by the major twist at the end. All in all, I loved it and thoroughly enjoyed how well it was written. Marni Macrae is a great writer and I look forward to reading more of her works.

Very good paced, intriguing romantic suspense book, heroine with amnesia. Sweet protective hero, he was just really good man, didn't care what other people would think about his caring way to heroine.
Although first pages were slow for me, from half the book it took good rithm. It was my first book from this author but I'll look forward for more.
Nevertheless I found out "story" of our girl here, it wasn't too much surprise. But author did good job finishing in interesting way.

An emotional and thought-provoking read. I read this book in one sitting. That's no joke. My brain actually shut up as I got lost in the story of a tragic girl who loses her memories and ends up on the side of the road where anyone could have taken advantage of her. Lucky for her, Nick is the one who finds her. He is just about as kind and compassionate as a man can be and instantly feels a connection to her. The entire town takes this nameless girl under their wing as they search for the missing pieces of her life - not realizing the tragedy and horror they'd find once they unraveled the secrets.

There's an underlying theme in this book, at least to me. Our memories don't make us who we are. The things that happen to us can shape us to an extent, but strip it all away and you get to the real person. Eve is kind and brave and smart. She's been through so many horrors and even when she finds out the extent of the lies in her past, she is still the same girl. That's how it was so believable that she and Nick could fall in love while she didn't even know who she was.

The writing style flows with ease and grace, shifting between POVs seamlessly. If I had one beef with the book it'd be that I felt like I was robbed of my emotional payoff a bit at the end. There's a moment, a meeting, that I was waiting to see happen. I was so excited because it was sure to be an emotional one. But then it was skipped and the next chapter picked up months later.

It's okay though, the rest of the book had emotion to spare.

My Musings

Wow, just wow. Loved Nameless from the first page to the last! The characters are vibrant and the plot is emotionally charged with plenty of heart ❤. Thanks go to the author for reaching out to me and letting me know about her amazing book!

Eve is enchanting and her wonder at everything new had me chuckling on mutliple occassions. Her open, loving way stole my heart. Eve his so broken in the beginning but by the end she is a vibrant, fascinating woman who kows where she belongs.

Nick is such a fantastic hero. He's so patient and kind but still a strong, honorable man. His unconditional love and support for Eve is remarkable. It takes a great man to love so selflessly. He is will to sacrifice all for Eve.

The romance, while very swift, is tender and filled with deep emotion. Eve and Nick fall for each other immediately and it only grows stronger throughout the book. I truly wanted them to find their happy ending.

The secondary characters are heart warming and real. I am so glad I found this wonderful book. I highly recommend Nameless to all who enjoy a romance with engaing characters and one that shows a strong woman's path to finding herself. This is definitely not a typical romance but so much more. It's a story you don't want to miss. Happy ☺reading 📚!

Nameless is a captivating tale of a young woman trying to find out who she is when she wakes in a field with no memory of how she got there and no idea who she is. When she is found wandering down the highway by the small town's most eligible bachelor, Nick, a friendship is formed and desire to solve the mystery of where she came from and who she really is, begins.

This story had a fantastic set of main characters and an unbelievably lovable supporting cast. The small town support for the girl they have dubbed Eve is genuinely inspiring and makes you wish you could spend time at Annabelle's May Day to get to know them better.

Watching the relationship between Eve and Nick progress from savior to friend to more was so emotionally charged you couldn't help but wonder what would happen if or when Eve found out whom she used to be.

Some memories are better left forgotten and Eve needs to decide who she was and whom she wants to be with or without her memories. With Nick's help, Eve realizes she is much stronger than she thinks she is and that she can overcome anything thrown her way.

Marni MacRae told an amazing story that had all the critical elements of a great romance novel: Hope, heartache, chemistry, friendship, and love.

If you are looking for a beautiful story filled with love and a little mystery, I would highly recommend this book, and I can't wait to read her other book, Lady Sun.

WOW! What a great book.
It starts out with this young lady waking up in the middle of a corn field not knowing, who she was, where she came from, where she was now, or what she was going to do. She begins walking and finally comes to a road. There someone stops and takes her to the hospital.
From there, this book just gets better and better. There is a wonderful storyline with a great mystery to solve.
The ending is wonderful. Something you would never have thought of.
This is my first book by this author, but you should know, it won't be my last one. This is one of the best books I have read for a while.
Thank you Marni for such a wonderful book.

Man, what a fantastic and tragic story. I cried toward the end and needed to take a break for some tea because it dives into some dark territory that is basically every parent's worst nightmare. I'm feeling kind of emotionally wrecked now. The love story aspect is stellar. Sweet and beautiful. Nick was such a perfect match - kind and patient, loving and strong. I loved that Nick builds homes. (And, I will say that truss day is my favorite day, too. LOL) Read it, love it, and grab some tissues. You won't be disappointed.

I just liked the story line

The wording of everything was a bit, idk, off to me, but I did absolutely love the basic concept of the story? Who is Eve? Love that it was nothing too obvious, or outrageous. I was somehow, not enthralled but unable to put it down, hence the four stars. Perhaps someone else will absolutely find it irresistible, love the story though, for sure.

3,5*

I like the cover.
It felt very short on sexy times. Only one time, one night.
I would say it was a good book.
It was a bit slow in the beginning. The middle part was ok. Sadly the end felt very rushed. I had so many unanswered questions at the end.
As I understand, it was the authors first book, and for that she did a great job.

Loved this book! Though I am not really a fan of books told with multiple POVs, I still could not put this one down. Eve's progression was so vivid you could almost feel her fear and confusion. I think that the resolution was rushed a bit, but I would still give this book 5*s.

Intriguing

Entertaining, but not the same girl meets boy and everything is going to call into place. A mystery of sorts and humanity at its lowest and finest.

The author has an amazing talent for showing the inner thoughts and emotions of the characters as they interract. I read most of the other reviews and I concur with all the 5-star ones. The reader is compelled to keep reading to find out who this nameless girl is, where she came from, and what will happen once this is known.
About halfway through the book, I had developed a theory about where "Eve" came from. Turns out I was only partially right!
Great suspense throughout.
Great ending.

I can’t explain the effect she has on me, like a deep need to protect her.  Not in a fatherly way or even a friendly way, but almost an ownership, as if she were mine and I am compelled to guard her, cushion the blows that are sure to come.

Ownership? Dude, bye. 😤
