I break everyone who challenges me. This girl will be no different.
Whether on the battlefield or in the cage, it makes no difference: I always come out on top. Tiana thinks she will be the one to strip away my defenses. But the only one stripping is her.
I’ve got a body count that’s hundreds deep. It’s what soldiers do: We take down what’s in front of us. I simply refuse to lose.
But Tiana is different than anyone I’ve ever faced. She’s tough, but fragile. Smart, but scared. She’s seen hell, too. A different kind of hell than the bloodbaths I’m used to.
I want to fight for her. To protect her from the bastards in her past… And the devils in her head.
For that to happen, she has to let me in. She wants to refuse, to keep me at arms’ length.
But one way or another, I’m going to break her down. I won’t rest until I make her mine.
DAX is a full-length, standalone, bad boy heist romance. Includes additional bonus content so you can keep on reading 'til you've had your fill of hot sex, thrilling action, and HEAs that will melt your heart!
Where Putting Up A Fight was shoddy and poorly written, Dax was just plain offensive. It's the dark side of so-called body positivity. Slim women herein are "tramp(s)", "whore(s)", "slut(s)"and "anorexic bimbos". Our heroine is "worth a hundred of them", what with her "huge, succulent tits"* and what not.
I hate this shit. Being fat does not make you a good person. Being slim does not make you a bad one. We're all just people. The heroine needs to stop being so fucking stupid - - and gain some self-respect that doesn't hinge on belittling other women. Misogyny is not sexy.
*** I am voluntarily reviewing an Advanced Reader Copy of this book*** I've read a lot of books by Paula Cox and she is definitely one of my favorite authors. This, however was not one of my favorite books. It was a difficult book to get onto for the first quarter of the book. Tiana came across as a doormat, incapable of any independence from her longtime boyfriend and abuser, Thad. Dax was almost too good and too "white knight-ish". After you get past the midpoint, it became a better read, but not what I expected from this author. Disappointed, but still a huge fan.
Dax, ex-military and now a MMA fighter, is always trying to help other ex-military adjust to civilian life. Tiana was in an abusive relationship and when she finally decides to leave him she runs to Dax. I love how protective Dax was over Tiana and how she felt safe with him. They have great chemistry and are perfect together. Dax has a good story line and great characters and I look forward to reading more books by this author.
Had the privilege of reading an ARC copy of DAX. Lot's of ups and downs in this book. Tiana had been with her boyfriend since high school and thought everything was going good, but reality struck her hard and fast. Dax was happy to be done with his time in the Marine's and to be home and fighting in the ring again. Neither of them expected to meet or feel the attraction they did once they did meet. Great love story of no matter what you have been through, you can survive and be happy again.
I love this whole story. Taiana has a decision to make over her boyfriend. However fate intervenes with Dax. If you want to read a good story on personal growth and true relationships this is the book. See whybDax and Tiana have the best of friends, family and most important the best relationship. This is my honest review for a book I volunteered to read
Sometimes, unplanned though it might be, things happen when we least expect it. It might go against logic or conventional thinking but you know it deep within your bones.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
