What happens when a single mom falls for the best friend of the brother who doesn't know she exists? An unexpectedly delightful cowboy holiday romance.
When Sheriff Dane Wilson rescues a sassy, single mom and her daughter on a runaway Christmas hayride, he falls hard for the irreverent duo. But when Dane discovers the spunky school teacher has a secret connection to his best friend, his protective nature kicks in.
After a wintry first kiss raises the stakes, Dane has to decide whose side he's on.
Only a deathbed promise would send Jaimi Hamilton to Rogue Valley for Christmas to track down her brothers, the nine Stockton cowboys who don't know about her. She has no intention of actually introducing herself to them…but her irreverent daughter and a too-sexy-for-his-own-good sheriff have other plans.
Sometimes it takes family to help two broken hearts discover the true meaning of Christmas and love that lasts forever.
Tropes: Holiday romance. Cowboys. Secret baby (who is all grown up now)! A "his best friend's sister" romance. Small-town sheriff. Humor. Lots of feels. The meaning of family.

I've been on a Christmas books binge, and so far I have nothing to complain about. I liked everything about this one.
~Sassy strong heroine. ~Cute kid. ~Single parent trope. (Which I love btw). ~A good, protective and possessive Hero. He was relentless in his chase for the heroine. (Just how I like my heroes). He was determined to keep her and protect her from anyone. ~Pushing away done by the heroine. ~No OW/OM drama. ~Insta-love/lust. ~little to no smut. #smutwhorehere.
I'll be checking out the rest of the series. The heroes sounded like they are good heroes.

This book brought out every emotion, I laughed, I cried, and cheered for Dane and Jaimi. A truly great book will do this for you. This is another book in a wonderful series that does just that. Ms Rowe has another hit on her hands. This book is just fantastic.
Jaimi's entire life it had only been her and her mom, and then Jaimi had her daughter, Emily, and the three generations enjoyed a closeness some families never share. But when Jaimi's mom acquires a fatal infection while on her recent, and last, adventure, Jaimi realizes she and Emily aren't alone in the world. Her dad's family, a man she was told died when she was little, had sons, nine of them, and Jaimi promises her dying mother that she'll seek them out.
Dane, sheriff of Rogue Valley, would do anything for the Stocktons. They may not be family by blood, but they are by heart, and sometimes that's an even stronger connection. The Stocktons helped Dane, and his younger sister, Zoe, through a difficult time, as Dane did for them with the hell they endured due to their father. When Dane saves the woman he'd been eyeing from a crazy tractor driver, he knows he's finally found the woman he's been waiting for, finally understands how his dad just knew his mom was the one for him.
Dane and Jaimi instantly feel a mutual attraction and bond that grows with every minute they spend together, but when Dane finds Emily's picture of Chase, the eldest Stockton, with his name and the others brothers on it, Dane is suspicious, determined to protect his family. But, when he sees Emily's eyes, realizes she has the Stockton blue, his heart hurts, believing he's discovered Jaimi's reason for coming to Rogue Valley.
When Jaimi confesses, and Dane agrees to keep her secret for now, she runs upon learning the truth of her father, and the circumstances that led to his death, from Dane. When Chase, and the others, begin piecing things together and learn what Jaimi and Emily are to them, Dane knows he'll have to talk fast to stop Jaimi, the woman he's already fallen for as he has Emily, as well as the Stocktons from pushing their way in, family being the most important thing to them.
Can Dane get through to Jaimi? Can he help her see the unavoidable reasons behind her father's death? That the shooter didn't have a choice? Will Jaimi be able to accept her brothers, and their growing families? What about her burgeoning relationship with Dane? Will she take a chance, realizing she doesn't need to be the always strong and independent woman her mom was? That if she finds happiness, and she has with Dane, to grab onto it with both hands for both her and Emily? Is a HEA possible?
One-click now and follow along as one woman's journey to see, and maybe meet, her until recently unknown family leads to so much more than she could've ever imagined.

So, this is number 6 in this series. And now I've read 3 books after each other and I have to say, it's always the same. Hero has a dark past, mistrusting women. He's mostly celibate. Then boom comes Heroine. It's love/lust at first sight. The Heroine is in need of protection and she's a single mom/celibate/afraid of men. They meet and they want each other. But they cant. He or she pushes the other away. Back and forth it goes and then we have the happy end at the very end (95% or so). It's super safe and super sweet, but now also super boring. And then theres the fact that their feelings and thoughts are written down on page after page and you just want to go ahead and have some action or something. But no, the characters stay true to themselves. And the interesting parts are just glossed over. It's cute but now I really wanted a little bit more.
4 star review of A Real Cowboy For Christmas(Wyoming Rebels #6) by Stephanie Rowe
My favourite holiday of the year is Christmas, a time for family and friends to get together and celebrate. I love single parent stories and quickly became invested in Dane Wilson and Jaimi Hamilton’s story. From the moment they met I felt as through these who were meant to be together, throw in Jaimi’s daughter Emily and I knew we were in for an entertaining ride. The characters were easy to relate too and it was heart warming to watch their relationship develop. Could Jaimi finally have found the missing piece she never knew she was missing in Dane?
I hated the heroine. I hated her to the depths of my soul. I hated her so much I almost barfed. Reading this was absolute torture and I'm so effing glad it's done and over. Never again am I reading another book from this series.
Never. Again.
This be, Episode 579 of things I do for my reading challenges.
Not my favorite Wyoming Rebels installment. It felt sort of rushed from beginning to end. I think I got wind burn from how fast the main characters met, connected, fell in love and into bed. It strains the imagination...
Oh these Stockton men, and that includes extended family like Dane, are totally irresistible! Absolutely swoon worthy, lovable and emotionally driven. Family is everything. I would give this one 6 or more stars it was so good.
6th book in the Wyoming Rebel contemporary romance series of cowboy brothers who overcome a really rough upbringing. Each can stand alone but don’t miss any of the gorgeous, generous men. You won’t regret a second of your time with them.
I really loved these two. Three with Emily. I felt sad for Jaimi just a bit because she is bitter about her mother’s death and afraid to move forward. Such a heartwarming romance.
Excerpt: “Laughter bubbled out of Emily. "Gram was such trouble." "That she was." A lump formed in Jaimi's throat, but she quickly swallowed it away. She'd promised her mom that there would be no tears. Life was too short for tears and regret. Every moment was a gift to be treasured. "And so are you." Emily's grin widened. "Gram says you're trouble, too." "That's been my lifelong goal, so I'm still working on it." Jaimi pulled off her glove and held up her hand. "Trouble-making girls rock the world, right?" "Right!" Emily whipped off her pink fuzzy mitten and hooked her pinkie around Jaimi's. "I swear to cause trouble my whole life," she said with a solemn giggle as they squeezed pinkies. "Just like you and Gram." "And I swear to continue to cause trouble my whole life, just like you and Gram." God, how many times had she made that oath with her mom over the years? A thousand times?” Excerpt From A Real Cowboy for Christmas by Stephanie Rowe This material may be protected by copyright.
Excerpt: “The moment Dane felt Jaimi's lips against his, he knew he'd been right. It was right. She was right. Not to be melodramatic, but he was pretty sure he'd finally found what he'd been searching for his entire life. The kiss was more than magic. It was the awakening of his soul, the settling of a deep, penetrating peace throughout every inch of his body. It was a realization that he was exactly where he was supposed to be: with her, on that fence, three days before Christmas.” Excerpt From A Real Cowboy for Christmas by Stephanie Rowe This material may be protected by copyright.
What a great addition to this series! Jaimi found out a secret that her mother kept from her on her death bed and now she and her daughter are in Rogue Valley to see the family she never knew she had, brothers and lots of them. When Jaimi falls in Dane's lap he realizes she's what he's been waiting for but can he keep her secret from the men he considers his family?
This is a great holiday romance in an amazing series! I love how you got to see everyone again and hear see their story from another's eyes. The story is about romance but also family and what you do for your family. The reader finds out that if you're a Stockton then nothing matters but brining them into the fold even telling stories that hurt. Be prepared once you start this story to not put it down until you're done! I received a copy under no obligation
Jaimi and her daughter are on their own until her mother reveals there are brothers she never knew existed. She promises to seek them out and it leads to a romance she never expected. Dane is the sheriff and a friend to her family. He keeps secrets from her and it jeopardizes their chance at love.
As with the other romances by this author, it is easy to connect with the characters and the storyline. It is a story about family and it really resonates especially as we approach the holiday season. Jaimi and Dane make a great couple. They have wonderful chemistry. It is a romance that ends happily for everyone and especially for the reader.
I call Stepanie Rowe's romance novels "wish books"; the characters are the way we wish people would be. It is time for Dane's story! When he discovers that the woman he has been drooling over since her first spied her is the Stockton's half sister he is split between his need to protect his "brothers" and the need to protect her. Jaimi has only known for two weeks that she has brothers and she is only here because she made a deathbed pledge to her mother to look them up. She didn't promise to identify herself to them.
I hate insta-love but I can buy into in certain circumstances, like they’re stuck someplace in a cabin for two weeks all alone or on a deserted island but the I met you & two hours later We’re madly in love, you’re my soulmate I’ve been waiting my whole life for you. Nope not buying it. Did she write this after book 7? The end of this Jaimi was pregnant with twins and Danes parents died a year apart. Book 7 comes out and it’s all rewritten
I felt this was rushed, to meet the Christmas book sales. There was nothing to keep interested I had trouble picking this one back up . The others keept me hooked but this one really didn't do it for me.
Instalove.......saying I love you within hours of meeting? Connection and/or lust? Sure, I can see that. Love....no. Plus this book was too short and had no plot at all.
Oh, my goodness! Another amazing story about the Wyoming Rebels and Christmas with the Stocktons. What's there not to love about Rogue Valley's Sheriff Dane Wilson and everything that's all-man and cowboy?
"We aren't going to let her go, you know. She's family. She's our sister - " Another unknown sibling by the same abusive alcoholic father and about the seventh mother passed away while on an adventure in the Amazon.
Quotes from the book:
'There is no way in hell he was going to fail at this. There was too much at stake, for his brothers, for Jaimi, for Emily, and for his own damn heart.'
"Family is important!"
I can relate to the pain in this story where the family is ripped apart - siblings have gone their separate ways, never to be heard from again. Reading that part was painful for me.
From page 131:
"One thing I've learned over the years is that if you love someone, you can't ever give up on them. Rivers of pain become uncrossable oceans that can't be bridged if you don't try to fix them when they're small. I'm lucky to have Travis, Steen, Zane and Maddox to find women who helped them heal, because I couldn't do it. But I learned my lesson. There's no way that I can let Jaimi walk away until I've done everything possible to bridge that gap. She's my sister, Dane."
"And she is the woman I love."
I love Emily in this story - a brave little girl. I like it when she wakes up the morning after Dane brings her and Jaimi to his house only to find her spying around the corner when the Stockton's have appeared totting a Christmas tree and food for breakfast. She is wearing footie pajamas with Christmas trees on them, and a long-sleeved top that said, "Girl Power," on it, with a badass female superhero on the front.
Emily needed family. She would be better off having the Stockton's having her back.
"Welcome to the family, sis!"
If you have not read any of the Wyoming Rebels (10 book series) Kindle Edition, you need to. Enjoy and happy reading.
This book is terrible. I hate to say it and I normally try to find something good to say but there’s nothing. I can’t believe the reviews. Something is seriously wrong somewhere for this book to have a 4.29 average rating. I hate insta-love. However, normally that means they have fallen in love in a few weeks or days even. This couple is in love in hours. Literally, they celebrate a three hour anniversary and he’s “all in” with her and her daughter after three hours. 🙄 Even aside from that, the heroine is ridiculously stupid. One example and this is a mild spoiler. She finds out her oldest brother killed her dad while protecting their 16 year old brother and she freaks out because her daughter is with him and is like “you left her with a killer. I have a family of murderers”. I’m surprised my eyes aren’t stuck in the back of my head from rolling them. She didn’t have a valid reason for not wanting to meet them either. I mean seriously, this was one of the worst heroines I’ve ever read. Ever. I read a lot. This is one and done for me with this author and I strenuously recommend you avoid this book. Strongly. I only finished it because it was for a challenge and did not have time to find another book that would fit all the criteria this one did and to give it a one star. I only rate books I finish. Who are the people that rated this 5 star??? I’m judging you. 👀
*Spoiler Alert* I'm a little torn about this book. The whole scenario was just incredibly rushed. I know this is a short novella, but to go from meeting someone and thinking you are in love with them and talking marriage in a matter of hours is a bit much. To say you are super guarded and protective of your child, but you leave them with strangers is not believable. It's just not something that someone who proclaims to be so fiercely protective and guarded would do. I know they are also talking about trying to be a little wilder, but this just doesn't work for me. There's a difference between wild and irresponsible. Then there's the hero. He says he'd do anything for the Stockton family and how loyal to them he is, but he tosses that out the window right away for someone he JUST met. It's just all too much of a stretch for me. That being said. I did like the family dynamic of the support characters. I think the Stockton family would be fun to be a part of. I don't know if I liked this book enough to want to read further into the series. If the story and characters weren't so rushed and it was a little more fleshed out, I would probably have liked this book.
A promise to her mother lead her on a trip with her daughter, Emily, to find family who doesn't know they exist. Nervous and on gaurd, Jaimi is not convinced following through on that promise is a good thing. Enter the charming sheriff, Dane, who figures out that Jaimi has a secret. One that not only terrifies her, but could change the lives of those he considers family. Despite all this, he is captivated by Jaimi and is determined to claim her as his own. Dane does his best to win Jaimi over and just when things have started to heat up between them, Jaimi discovers that Dane isn't the only one who knows her secret. So do her brothers.
This story is a sweet holiday romance, with a touch of humor and a little tension. A heartfelt story about a family and the bonds they share. A true gem.
This is a novella in the Wyoming Rebels series about the Stockton brothers. We have seen Dane Wilson in previous books as he is basically family to them. Now they are about to find out they have a sister! Jaimi Hamilton has come to Wyoming with her daughter only because she promised her mother when she was dying that she would go and meet her brothers. Brothers that she never knew she had, of course they don't know they have a sister either! She meets Dane first and there is an instant connection. Even though he knows she has secrets, he feels the same.
I really liked this book. Yes it is short, but the way they are together from the first meeting? I loved it! She is scared to death to meet her brothers, but she knows she has to keep her promise. Even when she doesn't want to. And once they find out about her? That is what family is truly about! Loved every bit of it!
This is a feel good, quick romance packed with a lot of emotions! Imagine growing up an only child of a strong independent woman. Then you have a child of your own and the three of you are all you need. Now imagine your amazing mother’s dying wish is for you to get to know the family you never knew you had...nine brothers! Following Jaimi and Emily as they discover their missing roots in Wyoming was just the feel good Christmas story that I was looking for. For those of you that have read the rest of the series, you have probably been waiting for Dane to find someone. For those that haven’t read the series yet, the backstory is filled in enough to read this as a stand-alone. Couldn’t put this one down until I had finished, I loved it!
Unfortunately, or fortunately, as the case may be, I do not enjoy, nor appreciate, reading stories about pathetic, wimpy, whinny women. Perhaps because I am a strong, independent female who is not in need of mental hygiene that I find it insulting that so many authors picture women in the aforementioned light. To be "terrified" at the prospect of meeting one's long lost or unknown relatives is ridiculous. Did she feel they were going to commit mayhem on her person and why would they? A few times while reading this story, I truly felt that this woman needed to be committed or at least subjected to some intense mental health. Needless to say, I will not be reading anything further in this series or by this author.
Yeah, it was a fairly quick read, full of insta spark/lust/love and was sweet as - exactly what I needed and some of my favourite (on the QT) tropes … if you don’t like these kinda reads this might not be for you BUT it’s got secret family, great characters, an awesome little girl desperate for a family, tons of heat and it’s takes place at Christmas…. so IMHO it’s worth a read!!!
i have to admit that once again I did what I’m getting good at - and not necessarily in a positive way!! - and started in at book 6 in the series. I think I’d have had a better understanding of a few things while reading Dane & Jaimi’s story but it still didn’t take away from my enjoyment of their book!!
This is the first book by Stephanie Rowe that I have read. It was good. It might have been better if I read the series in order although I didn't feel I missed out on anything pertinent until towards the end when the characters fully came into play. The romance between the two main characters seemed fast. Although I do believe in love at first sight maybe I'm more of a cynic than I thought because the romance seemed unlikely especially with an independent single mother. I loved the Stockton family and will most likely read the rest of the series to get to know them better.
This was NOT the usual, girl meets cowboy and falls in love. A Real Cowboy for Christmas had a unique reason for why Jaimi and her 6 year old daughter, Emily, show up in a place they've never been before and then the story takes off! Quite an enjoyable story with danger (sexy rescue!), fear, the unknown and adventurous Emily! Time was NOT on Dane's side, as the sparks flew between Dane and Jaimi. All the while Jaimi was keeping her guard up. And what good, young mother wouldn't? I had not heard of this series, when this book came to my attention, but 1) it was a Christmas story and 2) the blurb sounded really good! I'm glad I added it to my December Christmas theme reading in 2020!
When Dane Wilson sees Jaimi Hamilton and her daughter Emily he knows he has found the one for him after almost giving up on every finding the right woman. An almost accident, nine brothers and their family that don't know they have a sister and lots of worry, hesitation and being just plain scared of the situation have to be over come in this Christmas romance.
The humor that Dane and Emily add makes for many smiles while reading this story. The over the top family acceptance of a new and unknown sister is sweet with a happy ending too. A Real Cowboy for Christmas makes me want to read more by Stephanie Rowe.
Dane Wilson is Rouge Valley, Wyoming's Sheriff. He's also tough, smart, handsome and best friendship with the nine Stockton brothers. He's also a romantic and believes in love at first sight. When he sees newcomer Jaimi Hamilton and her daughter, Emily, at his town's Christmas Festival he is intrigued, fascinated and determined to meet them. Their "meet" is rather abrupt, but memorable. When Dane learns Jaimi's family secret he is torn between his newfound love and his loyalty to his Stockton "brothers." Dane must use his trustworthiness, empathy and truth to convince Jaimi of how important love is. He does its marvelously.
Dane and Jaimi meets when he saves her from, and oncoming tractor were about to mow her over. For Dane it was love at first sight. Jaimi is a little beside herself because of the reason she was in Wyoming and running into the sheriff was not on her to do list. What stood out for Dane was her attempt at getting away from him but when she drops a picture of the men, he called brothers had him wondering what was going on. When her pretense comes out brothers will meet sister and Jaimi will come to know a family she never knew she had. This touching story draws you in and warms your heart and have you cheering Jaimi and Dane on to get a chance for a happily ever after that they both deserve.
