Imagine if you could wake up every morning feeling energised, vibrant and excited for the work day ahead of you.
If you could accept every challenge, hurdle and setback because you knew the end goal would be worth it.
If you could walk your career path with courage, faith and determination.
Because you know, without a doubt, that you’re going in the right direction.
This is what happens when you find your PURPOSE.
As the founder of Collective Hub, a multimedia platform that aims to help people unleash their full potential, Lisa Messenger has turned her passion into a profession – and now she’s on a mission to help millions of people across the world find a career with meaning. Her secret? Instead of settling for a play-it-safe career, she delved deep, thought big and disrupted an entire industry.
And all because she discovered the magical feeling, the vital reason, the one powerful sentence that made her work-life worth living. Now, it’s your turn.
In this soul-searching book Lisa discusses her own path to purpose, mixed with guidance and interviews from inspiring entrepreneurs and creatives who have followed their ‘why’ to a place of joy and fulfilment. Drawing on her own experiences and ground-breaking research that shows a sense of purpose makes us happier, healthier and even live longer, Lisa guides readers to find the illusive ‘why’ in their lives, so they can reinvigorate their ambition, unleash their inner rebel and make a real impact in the world.
Whether you’re a new graduate, a veteran entrepreneur, a parent making a career comeback or an employee tired of working on autopilot, this book is a must-read for anyone who spends their lives making excuses, blaming others or wishing they could have a career that makes a difference.
The average person spends over 90,000 hours at work in their lifetime.
Do you want to get to the end of your work-life and wonder why?
Lisa Messenger is the vibrant, game-changing founder, CEO and editor-in-chief of Collective Hub. She launched Collective Hub as a print magazine in 2013, with no experience in an industry that people said was either dead or dying. Collective Hub has since grown into an international multimedia business and lifestyle platform with multiple verticals across print, digital, events and education – all of which serve to ignite human potential.
Five years and 52 issues into the print magazine Lisa made the courageous move to “break” the very thing that she started – the print magazine – enabling her to take some time and space to evolve into the next iteration and again disrupt… watch this space.
Lisa is an international speaker, best-selling author, and an authority on disruption in both the corporate sector and the start-up scene. Lisa’s experience in publishing has seen her produce over 400 custom-published books for companies and individuals as well as having authored and co-authored 24 herself.
Most notably, Lisa chartered her ride to success with her bestselling book Daring & Disruptive: Unleashing the Entrepreneur and its sequels Life & Love: Creating the Dream, which reached number-one on Booktopia; Money & Mindfulness: Living in Abundance, that shot to best-selling status within the first month; Breakups & Breakthroughs: Turn an Ending Into a Beginning and Purpose soon followed.
Her passion is to challenge individuals and corporations to get out of their comfort zones, find their purpose, change the way they think, and to prove there’s more than one way to do anything. She encourages creativity, innovation, and an entrepreneurial spirit, and lives life to the absolute max. Most mornings she wakes up and pinches herself at how incredible her life is, but is also acutely aware and honest about life’s bumps and tumbles along the way.
With fans including Sir Richard Branson and New York Times best-selling author Bradley Trevor Greive, and a loyal fan base, Lisa’s vision is to build a community of like-minded people who want to change the world.
Meh. There was some good inspirational quotes in here (not from the author) and lots of BIG FONT but it read mostly as a bit self indulgent to me. One section showcases what is possible when you have found your Why via 6 pages of illustrations of the author with various celebrities. Didn’t get the connect really but perhaps that’s just me. Doesn’t take long to read though with all the BIG FONT and pictures so that’s a plus.
Just like other Lisa Messenger books, this one is full of beautiful calligraphies and quotes. Purpose is all about your Whys - what it is, why you need to know your whys, and how to get inspired to find your whys.
I wouldn’t say the book is eye opening, because it isn’t. There is no groundbreaking new concept here, just classic advices repackaged in amazing illustrations and modern examples. Having said that, it’s still a nice refresher for those difficult days - you can just flick through the book and feel instant mood lifts. Lisa also leads by example, through her own experiences - which is the main value I get from this book.
I love Lisa. Her message and her delivery of her message is inspiring and revitalising.
This book highly resonated with me thanks largely to the "rut" I feel I've been in for the past 2-3 years. Trying to find my purpose or my why has eluded me and continues to do so. My brain feels like scrambled eggs most of the time and my willpower seems to have switched off - but I'm not dissuaded! I know I'll get there - wherever there is!
The positivity, rawness and complete honesty that oozes from Lisa is infectious and that is why I feel continually inspired and on path to find my why.
This book has no depth to it at all. The key message is once you find your why the how will be easy, but it’s basically pages and pages of repetitive discussion.
All the good ideas and thoughts in the book are taken from other great authors and content and do not come from the author herself.
The book also includes a lot of bragging about how amazing the authors business is, and how successful and busy she is. Not enjoyable to read at all, and quite cringe.
A great inspirational women and book on doing what feels right for you. I wish the answer of what to do came as easily as reading this book but plenty to take away and enjoy of the coming days and months. I will open myself up to finding that purpose somehow, someway.
Definitely not the best self improvement book I've read but I did gain from it. I really like Lisa Messenger too and how passionate she is. I do however feel that sometimes her books read as a big advertisement for her magazine which I don't enjoy.
