This is a great book for young readers not quite ready for Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. I found this book great and interesting and finished it within 2 days. For my aged readers I would much recommend this retold version (to start out)instead of the original story.

D and I really tried to like this book, but we struggled through it. We give it respect because it's written by the Charles Dickens. It was not our favorite book, but we did feel more favorable about the book by the end of story. It was a bit hard to follow and understand because of the customs and traditions of the times are things we are not familiar with, such as Pip having a benefactor that gave him money to live a life as a gentleman. Perhaps this book was a bit too condensed to become retold as a classic start series book and it would have been clearer if we would have read the original, longer version.

I was surprised to discover that Great Expectations was only a 2 hour audiobook. Turns out it was a distilled version. That was plenty for me.

I had never read the original book. However, I did see the movie after it was made. Why? Because several scenes were shot at my favorite museum here in Florida. They used John and Mable Ringlings house C a d' zan as part of the setting I was immediately enthralled with the story. The fact that my first reading of it was through Classic Starts makes me realize how much I missed and how much my students will enjoy it. I liked Pip very much. He was a dreamer and wanted more for himself in a time when people were put into classes and usually didn't get out of their class. He was a commoner, yet he was brought up very respectable. Another great story to put on my shelves.

I LOVE THE WHOLE PLOTS eventho it was confusing at first.
I wonder how the original book is.

The ending is awesome too
Yeah but the startup was like "what the f**k?" suddenly there's this stranger came up and ~~~~ The diction is still pretty harder for me, than some others classic starts series.
