The Historian Tales #4

The Price of Survival

Rate this book
Technology and magic clash in this tale of power and treachery. The Historian and his new friends find themselves part of an unlikely team as a portal opens in a war-torn land, linking it to a world of darkness and terrible power. Tanniks, twisted into cruel monstrosities by their own magic, come through the Vortex to claim the new territory and butcher the defiant.

As casualties mount and trembling refugees warn of worse things to come, it becomes ever more difficult to foresee mankind's destiny. Will they remain in slavery, or will the fury of the Tanniks be crushed by human ingenuity and ruthlessness?

The Price of Survival by Lance Conrad
I liked this book because its not fantasy but it's also not real it's the perfect balance in between Fantasy and real life. My favorite character is probably Kip. Kip is a old veteran he lives with Chuck and Phillip. Kip lives in the slums which is the poor side part of town the most common people that live in the slum is veterans they are served free bread or cake. Chuck is Kips little potted plant that kip talks to and Chuck talks back (it's actually keep talking he just talks in a diffrent voice for chuck) Chuck goes everywhere with Kip.Phillip is a storyteller has been to many diffrent worlds and keeps walking intel he finds a story then he stays for the story he doesn't have a name so Kip gave him a name he doesn't remember his past. One of my favorite quotes is “The ultimate form of persuasion is getting the other person to come up with your idea” My least favorite character is probably Dawes he's a military commander that government have complete power to during the attack of the Taniks. Daws is very demanding and i don't hate him but he's not my favorite person in the story.

In my opinion, The Price of Survival is the best book ever. It has so much action and great characters. In the beginning a portal to anther world appears and lets in yrris. She explanes about whut the tankens are. Deth cums and general Daws saves them with an army. They kill 2 moor and then kill the first.

This is a pretty good book. It has a lot of entertaining words and a cool storyline. Even though it only takes place over about 2 days, it has a very detailed story and fills the book with adventures and humor.

Once again, an intriguing tale of power, courage, in/sanity, bravery, human insight, and love.

I enjoyed the book, it manages to convey a story that uses science for magic, which in a way makes it more realistic and understandable.
