Dr. Nicholas White was finally pursuing what he wanted. Or rather, who he wanted. After a year of marriage to a woman he was sure was cheating on him, he got a divorce and found himself in bed with the man he couldn’t stop thinking about. It was a heated and passionate encounter that left them both wanting more.
So much more.
Shepard Kensworth couldn’t believe how strongly he connected with Nick. Shepard was a resident at the hospital and should have had his nose buried in a book, not in Nick’s chest. Their moment was brief, but their feelings certainly weren’t.
That same day, Nick received news that altered the course of his life forever. A rift cracked between the two men before they could ever solidify anything.
When life pushes them back together, the two men begin to accept just how perfect of a match they are. Not everyone is happy with the reunion, though. When outside forces threaten to tear them apart again, Nick and Shepard must come together stronger than ever before or end up shattered beyond repair. ______________ Code White is the fourth book in the Sierra View series, although they can be read in any order. It's a full-length, steamy gay romance and has no cliffhangers.
I love this story and it was another one that I hated to see end. Nick and Shepard (Shep) were perfect for each other. Their love for Emma, Nick's baby daughter and how Shephard tried to help Nick get visitation more than two days a week was sweet and just made the reader want to gather the evidence against the drug using cheating ex for them. The sad part was if you had read any M/M romances that featured good, honest hard-working fathers, and nasty ex-wives and their children, we knew what Nick and Shep were going to be faced with to accomplish this. I love seeing characters from other books in a series visit throughout. This one had characters from not only this series but some past series as well as future series play a role in the story. I also like when the bad guys get their due and the good guys come out on top. So, since this one had it all...I'll just say good job, yet again Mr. Walker and on to the next one.
*** Brace yourself for an exciting ride. *** Like all of the books in this Sierra View series, we have a lot going on. Dr. Nick White and Intern/Resident, Shepard, share a steamy interlude, it rocks them both to their core. Later that same day, Nick is given life changing news, her name is Emma. They don't speak to each other for a year. Nick's life has calmed somewhat, and Shepard is still studying.
We have a lot going on here, with Shepard's creepy ex, Nick's evil ex-wife, Chris interfering, a custody battle, opioid addiction, threats, evidence, and culminates in violence. Our two docs finally see that they can be together, but the problem causing factors keep escalating. We do get some sexy times with Nick and Shepard; even a hot encounter in a stuck elevator.
With all that is happening, we are as afraid as they are that nothing will go their way... until the pieces start falling into place. Great epilogue ! ENJOY ! =================
Max wraps up the Sierra View series with a cute romance
This is a nice read with a little bit of angsty and a little bit of drama and two MCs who have an instant connection which develops into something stronger.
As with all of Max's romances, there's a lot of dialogue, a steamy interlude or two (or more), a sudden plot twist which comes from left field and a nicely tied up ending that brings everything together.
I'm not sure why, but I just didn't care for this one as much as the previous books. I never clicked with the characters and the story just didn't do it for me. It was just ok for me.
Code White is the fourth and final story in the Sierra View series and it was just the bittersweet ending we needed from Max Walker. Code White is about Crow's twin brother Shepard and Dr. Nicholas White.
After a torturous one year marriage (to a woman), Dr. Nicholas White finally goes after what he wants and that is Shepard Kensworh, the young and sexy resident at Sierra View. Following the most sexiest f*ck they both ever had, Nick receives heartbreaking and life changing news that ends up hurting the one he's wanted and never picking up where they left off (insert heart crackin here because OMG, they would be so hot together).
Fast forward a year later and as secrets unfold, Nick and Shep's attraction and chemistry grows deeper and hotter, it's undeniable, a kind of connection that shouldn't be ignored and so they decide to fight for it, giving their relationship a shot. But when a bitch of an ex wife, a super religious closeted brother in law, and a psycho ex boyfriend threaten their relationship, Nick and Shep do everything they can to save it.
Another page turner from Max Walker. Nick and Shep's story is a cute one and I hate to see it end! Both have trust issues but they still gravitate towards each other to and that fact that Shep accepts Nick and his 'baggage" makes it all the more beautiful. Five stars for Max Walker's Code White. Happy Reading!
I was given an advance copy to read and review. Wow, this book has everything , it seems. Dr. Nicholas White was previously married (to a woman) and feels his life is just getting to where he wants it after he gets together with Shepard Kensworth, a resident studying to become a doctor in the same hospital. The night they get together, Nick, gets some life changing news - his ex-wife tells him he may be a father. Nick is beside himself and distances himself from Shepard as he prepares for fatherhood. Well, all is not lost and eventually the two reconnect and Emma is born, but Nick only has custody for 2 days a week as his ex is controlling and making Nick's life miserable. Thank heavens, he has Shep. Things escalate out of control with the custody of baby, Emma and Nick has to prepare himself for a prolonged fight with his ex. The story really picks up steam with each side trying to get custody and his ex trying everything she can to cut Nick out of the child's life. There is a lot of suspense, leading up to the end for sure. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from this author.
Trying to decide if I want to finish this or not. I'm at 24% and having a really hard time with the editing and research done in this book.
Shepard is stated as a medical student. There's an exchange that happens at 24%:
"“How, uhm, how’s medical school going?” Nick immediately felt bad for being cold toward Shepard. He didn’t want the silence to last a second longer.
“It’s going,” Shepard said, an exhausted laugh slipping through. “It’s easier now that I’m a resident.
Walker, Max. Code White (The Sierra View Series Book 4) (p. 58). Walking Press. Kindle Edition. "
Did the author not research how medical school works? First undergrad. Then med school. Then intern. THEN RESIDENT. You are not a resident as a medical student.
I'll probably keep reading, but this isn't the first error that should have been caught by an editor or beta reader ("bride of honor?" You mean maid of honor.)
I like the author but please make sure your information is accurate, because this completely took me out of the book. If you need a beta, feel free to reach out to me!
Story is well written with a good story line and very engaging. This love story was not a easy ride but a very satisfying journey! I stayed up way to late reading this terrific story and it was worth it!
i loved Shepard and Nick together! Both characters are well developed and you quickly become drawn into the story. The connection is almost touchable between these guys.. so well written that you feel the surprises. their pain and the happiness of their love.
i really loved Shepard and his great big heart.. his ability to forgive and his vast ability to love. My heart felt for Nick as life threw him some real body blows. However, i was also wanting to shout from the sidelines some encouragement to get him moving toward Shepard.
The Sierra View series is definitely a wonderful series!
An okay story for Nicholas and Shepard from the author.. I'm a big fan of this series but with this one I didnt connect to the characters like the past books. I loved scenes of them in the elevator and the ending of this was great. A year of unquited lust leaves Shep and Nick exploding on their first hot hookup.. Dr. Shepard was a medical student who was surposed to be studying but got derailed by a hot Doctor he'd been eyeing. Nick was giving him a hell of a ride, he never thought theyd get together even its a once off deal.. Now a year later the past event of his ex-wifes bombshell Dr Nicholas White left reeling his life in a kaoss again.
Shepard and Nick's journey was a emotional but beautiful story these two men stole my heart so much
You could feel the beautiful connection between Shepard and nick from beginning to end
Cold White was heartbreaking heartwarming but had laughter too following these two men going through their ups and downs I felt like I was there with them
Every page your heart is pounding and you are looking forward to what's going to happen next
I loved code white this story and the series will stay in my heart for a long time
*I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy* Shepard, the twin from book 3) and Nicholas begin the novel in a very hot scene and seems like the beginning of a beautiful romance. Unfortunately life is not that easy and circumstances prevent them from being together for awhile. One they get the chance to bond with each other once again, they try their best to make it work even with outside forces pushing/threatening to keep them apart. I liked the introduction of new characters who will be in a new series. *I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy*
Awesome add to the series. With each book in this series I keep saying to myself "Now this is my new favorite". Dr. Nicholas White and Shepard Kensworth connection grabs you right off the bat and I couldn't put it down. They might have had a tough start but they do end up fighting for each other in the end. This had everything from romantic moments to suspenseful twist. Loved every page of it. Can't wait for the next. I voluntarily reviewed an 'Advance Author’s Copy' of this book.
Having explosive sex and instant connection with someone is special, but when it's one of the doctors who sign off on your hospital training and then he ghosts you, it becomes a frustrating, anxiety inducing mess. Then you find out what he's been dealing with and you wonder if you'll ever find that kind of spark again because he haunts your days and tantalizes your dreams. Excellent series wrapup with cameos from other characters.
Another five star I really enjoyed this one. It’s definitely in the top. I really really enjoyed this whole series. All of it was so interesting in mysterious and fun and full of love. I adored all the four couples. This book specifically I just loved how the three of them connected so fast. And the ending with everyone for thanksgiving and all the kids ughhh it was perfect also the twist at the end some of it really got it I didn’t expect it.
It pains me to only give this 3 stars. Max really knows how to write a good story....but, they are becoming cookie cutter. In a group of 4 friends/siblings how often are all four people attacked/kidnapped/shot just unrealistic.....
I did really enjoy the epilogue with everyone together wrapping the series up nicely.
I loved this story it may just be my favorite of the series. I love that the couples from the previous books made an appearance. Another great story where the characters are so well written that I felt like I could have been standing there watching everything go on. Even the private parts. Haha! :)
Shepard and Nick are put through the ringer one minute they're together next minute they're not and life gets in the way The way Anna treated Nick wasn't right and I'm glad karma and bit her in the but she deserved what she got and I'm glad Nick and Shepard got there happy ending Can't wait to read about Jude
Those filled with hate will never truly be happy, yet they find solace is making others miserable. I will never understand that but I've seen karma in action and she always gets her way.
Shit I'm so in love with it and all of the characters. One of the best epilogue ever. So good when you get a glimpse with old characters. Can't wait for the Christmas book and Jude and Zane yeah!!!
I loved the ending. The while book was really good but for me the end really drove it home. Max Walker did an amazing job with this series and I am glad Shepherd and Nick got their story.
Nick and Shepard's story was a nice enjoyable read. I liked the custody battle inclusion and was interesting to read from a male perspective. The baddies in this book were obvious, still a good book.
I'm usually not a fan of books that start with sex and the relationship follows. However this one was done really well. I liked both characters and the drama was interesting. I had feeling about what Anna was doing. I really liked Zanes character and agency.
This was a good series and this one features intern Shepherd, who's the twin of Crow from Book #3, and Nicholas, a full fledged, recently divorced, closeted supervisor in the hospital. Nice set up, but IMHO an opening scene which is not only absurd but also nearly made me chuck the book.
I didn't, even though Nicholas disappeared from Shepherd's world right after the opening incident and was thrown into a chaotic situation involving his ex-wife and his now ex-best friend--he's become a father without knowing how it happened.
After that the narrative goes bump in the night on several occasions. The road back to romance between Shep and Nick hits speed bumps and smooth roads, and eventually the series seems to end on a positive note for all concerned.
I like these characters but sometimes the rush to coupling and the deep angst some of them share with the reader, but not with each other, is a bit much. Still, give it a go.
