**Recipes Included!!** Mabel has finally made her and her late Gran’s dreams come she has her very own organic cupcake shop, Hazel’s Hints of Heaven. For the most part, she’s content. There’s her daily visits to Cherry’s Coffee Roasters, hanging with her two best friends, Max and Corinda, and baking her heart out. Alas, she aches for a little human contact (wink, wink). She’d even settled for one-night stands from her favorite hole in the wall bar, but, when she meets two mouth-droppingly, eye-poppingly gorgeous men, things get complicated.
There’s Gavin, the tattooed, pierced, dark haired, blue-eyed devil who reeks of sin and needs a job in a pastry kind of way. And Henry, the tall, blond, green-eyed Greek god who borders on rude and tight-assed and needs sweet treats—and fast. As Mabel gets to know each man, her heart chooses one, while her body chooses another.
When push comes to shove, with a little help from fate, Mabel finally makes the choice that satisfies her heart…and her Cupcakegasm.
Hailing from the Midwest, Rhiannon Jean has finally decided to listen to the voices in her head and put their stories on paper. She loves cats, cupcakes, Netflix, wine, writing, crafting, music, singing too loudly with the car radio, dancing, shoes, tattoos, equality, feminism, and correcting people's grammar.
Mable, creates her dream bakery with the help of her Gran's forsite and plannng. Two love interests, but it's not a love triangle. Gavin is the handsome hired help and Henry the business exec. with a large contract. Hilarious sexual mishaps, and a dance around the obvious keeps you turning the pages. very funny and sweet.
3.5 Stars Once I saw the heroine bakes and has her own cupcake shop I was sold on reading this one. Plus it's a romantic comedy and that's my jam right now. Some places the book lost me a little, but Mabel kept pulling me back in. Mabel's life at times feels like a comedy because one mishap after another seems to happen, but the day rude Henry enters her life things are going to get more interesting. I'm not going to lie not I wasn't a huge fan of Henry. He was quite redeemable by the end though. The parts of Mabel with her grandpa reminded me of my relationship with mine.Though we both love baseball unlike Mabel and my grandpa is more touchy feely then Pap. This book hilariously funny with real life moments.
This isn't my first book by Rhiannon Jean, and this certainly won't be my last! This was a hilarious, entertaining story about real people and cupcakes that made me hungry.
This story focuses on Mabel and Henry. Mabel is definitely a girl after my own heart, loving her baked goods a little too much, but is also comfortable with herself. She has a sarcastic mouth, loves cats, and has trouble with trust. Once she does trust, though.... And Henry is one of those guys that you can't help but love, even when he is awkward and stiff. But as time goes on, you see more of him, of how much he cares, and that he has great reflexes. There's a spark between them that never seems to go away, but life has a way of going unexpected places, just as it did for these two. Mabel has plenty to keep her busy with her shop and all that goes with it, as does Henry. Both have a life outside of each other, with friends and likes, and they feel like real people. Ones that I would to sit down and talk to, even if I don't agree with their sports loyalties. The chemistry between them was hot! It's a great slow burn that I couldn't get enough of in the book.
Overall I really loved this book! The writing was fantastic, plotted and paced well, and the editing was spot on with few mistakes. I saw certain things coming, but it didn't hamper my ability to enjoy the book at all. The romance was done well as it built with time, even as it dealt with each of them with others. The secondary characters were fantastic as well, and I enjoyed the writing style a lot. If you're looking for a fun and quirky contemporary romance with lots of snarky commentary and mentions of cupcakes, then you need to read this book! I highly recommend it.
I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author. I also bought the book because I loved it so much.
This was such a great book. Quirky, poignant, heartwarming, touching, hilarious and just a little bit steamy!
Rhiannon Jean's 'Cupcakegasm' packs a huge punch - fast paced, with a lively group of characters who love, laugh and cry together. It is a story of trust and respect, of friendships, relationships, and family, of big dreams not to mention the hurdles we sometimes have to overcome to realise them, and of daring to believe in yourself. Mabel is perfection and the two men who mess with her head on a daily basis are superb.
Grab a coffee and, if you can, a lemon cupcake with lavender frosting and treat yourself to an afternoon curled up with this book - you will not be disappointed!
I liked the book, really, it is an agile reading, it has all the necessary elements I feel that I lack a little more history of Henry and Mabel, but in general is good❤️ many congratulations Rhiannon🌹🌹🌹
This was such a great book, nostalgic, heartwarming, touching, hilarious with a bit of steamy great recipe. You have a group of characters that are loyal others not so much who love, laugh and cry together. True feelings that go a long way like trust and respect in friendships, relationships and family. This is definitely one not to miss out on, you won't be disappointed.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It was the second book I read from this author and ironically only the second adult romance novel I've ever read.
I love the story as well as the relatable characters... there were characters to love, hate, cheer on, and feel sympathy for. And the way Chicago was described makes me want to visit and see all of the sights mentioned in the book.
The bonus cupcake recipes in the back of the book were a bonus. I've never tried making cupcakes on my own, but now I might have to give it a try.
All in all, this was a great book and I'd gladly recommend it to anyone looking for a good romance novel, either a veteran reader or a first-time reader like myself.
If you're looking for a fun, romantic read that has a great sense of humour and nice doses of heat, then Cupcakegasm by Rhiannon Jean is the book for you.
Mabel owns an organic cupcake shop and it's her dream come true...but she's looking for a little more human touch than simply one-night stands. Into her life walk Gavin and Henry, two very different men who set her aflutter. So which one is perfect for Mabel? You'll have to read Cupcakegasm to find out.
Mabel is such a fun character, you really empathise with her situation and you want the best for her. Rhiannon does a great job of capturing her characters' quirks and flaws (and what makes them sexy). Really enjoyed kicking back and reading Cupcakegasm while enjoying a few glasses of wine on my vacation. Make sure you hide away for an afternoon or two and get to know Mabel and find out who she picks. :)
This is not your grandmother's romance. Gritty yet sweet, graphic yet humorously derailed. Mable has big dreams. Raised by her grandparents, Gran was a huge influence in her life and a major supporter of Mabel's dreams. After she passed she made sure Mabel moved forward with her passion to bake cupcakes. Mable has a huge personality. She is a loyal friend, speaks up whenever she sees injustice. She is raw and uncensored, full of life. Even when people she trusts tell her to be careful, she wants to believe the best in others and give them a chance... until they make it clear she can't close her eyes any longer. Like all humans, Mable also wants a love life. She meets this straight laced business type under less than ideal circumstances. She shows her true colors without hesitation until she sees the color of his eyes. Sometimes life takes you off the direct path but the heart does not want to be denied. Told with zeal and humor, this is a modern day story about living with passion while working at your dream.
Where to begin with this yummy story... First of all, Mabel is a heroine dear to my heart. She's funny, she's at times insecure and other times a Go Get Em Tiger kind of gal. The scene where she perches on the futon had me laughing until I was crying. And second, poor Mabel has a tough choice to make. Does she choose the hot baker or the hot businessman? Or both? Read and find out! The recipes will make you want more than a cupcake. What girl doesn't want a cupcakegasm?
When her grandmother dies, she finds out that her left her money to start her dream of owning a cupcake store. She decides to finally make her dreams come to life and probably was a dream of her grandmother who raised her when her parents died when she was young.
She has given up on men as she is busy with her store and coming up with new flavors. She meets a guy at a coffee shop that only sells coffee and was bringing her latest cupcakes for the staff to enjoy. He is looking for cupcakes for his niece that he promise and offers her money for them. This in turn lands a weekly order of cupcakes for the company he works for.
There is attraction between them but they both believe in not mixing business with pleasure, besides he has a girl friend. Throw in her distrust of men after her ex boyfriend. She ends up hiring a new employee since her other staff is moving out of state. Unfortunately, she will be betrayed by the new employee that she ended up seeing out of work.
She finds herself seeing more of the first guy who tells her that he broke up with his girl friend. They find each other easy to talk to as she finds herself trusting him and turning to him. A sweet love story that is not overnight.
This book has a romance that is as divinely sweet as the title itself. Rhiannon has crafted a tale with an extremely likeable, sassy lead, I felt easily drawn into Mabel's story and her friends/family, to me she seemed very real and relatable. Just like the ingredients in the fantastic cupcakes Mabel crafts, I found this tale about her life and relationships to be delicious, the prose was silky smooth, flowing like butter and I couldn't stop reading from beginning to end. Heartwarming, saucy and very funny in places, along with being endearingly written, this is a romantic gem just waiting to be devoured in one go.
Also, as an added bonus, you have many cupcake recipes stuffed in the back of the book too - amazing! Get stuck into this one soon!
Love love love! I swear like Mabel so it was easy to connect with her. I love the humor, the sarcasm..the heat.. A fun and flirty read. Gavin has the bad boy appeal and Henry is the kind that would make your parents proud. Pap agrees but which path will Mabel take?
Reviews pulled me into book and it was okay but honestly felt there was more potential to be so much better. The lead female was approaching 40 but honestly didn’t give off that vibe and although parts of it were funny I’ve read better. Not a keeper.
An excellent and emotional story! Mabel is my spirit animal. Henry is fantastic. Javert the car is a hero! Creative curses! Being kind but taking no s*** 5 Stars I recommend this to everyone.
I was hooked from the very beginning. The story was told like a long lost friend getting caught up on what was missed while you were gone. It was a light, funny read and recommend it to everyone!!
