Most ducklings are a bit wary about approaching the world on their own, leading them to follow their mother closely and listen carefully to her instructions. Not Wrong Way. While his siblings are right under their mother's webbed feet and wings, he is wandering along his own path, taking his time or speeding up when the inclination strikes him. Sometimes this puts him at risk, but somehow he manages to survive a close call or two. Even when the ducklings are swimming in the pond, he flips over to float on his back while the other ducks paddle in the normal duck fashion. Young readers are likely to smile at the uniqueness of Wrong Way whose way isn't all that wrong, after all; it's just different from the other ducks'. The illustrations feature vivid colors that make being outdoors seem quite appealing.
