Excerpts from Since my nagging voice can be a distraction from His still small whispers to them, I have learned to ask myself a series of questions. Am I an impediment to God’s work in their lives? Or am I a catalyst? Do I drown out His still, quiet voice? Or do I amplify it? Am I a roadblock to God’s plans for them? Or am I an entrance ramp? As a parent, even a praying parent, I quickly become overwhelmed and fearful as I look into the eyes of these giants UNLESS I keep my eyes on the Lord. I have no confidence in my own or my children’s ability to face their problems. But my confidence in God’s ability to not only face, but conquer, those giants is immeasurable. We might not be able to fix our kids, but we can pray to a God who will.

There have been so many times in my parenting life when it was easy to get consumed with worry instead of comforted through prayer. The author understands every parent’s propensity to do the same, and she gently reminds us of our need to pray first and not stop. With personal stories and lots of Biblical instruction, Susan motivates parents to ramp up their prayer life while sitting back and relaxing into a confident pattern of unceasing prayer. I loved this book. *Texas Author*
Without doubt, hundreds, possibly thousands of books have been written over the last few millennia concerning prayer. And here we have another. This one seems to trim the mammoth topic down to a somewhat smaller subset—parents praying for their children.
—HOWEVER—(these em-dashes are just for you, Susan!) Unceasing is much more than what it seems (no, you can't always judge a book by its cover). On one level, the author offers a deconstructed view into the pieces and parts of how a parent can effectively go about the adventure of effectively praying for their children. And the logical examination and instruction are noteworthy.
But she also invites the reader to walk alongside her as she recounts her life of raising several children to become all that God designed them to be. Macias is painfully transparent about her own struggles on that journey: her failures in faith as well as the victories; the self-discovery of her weaknesses and shortcomings as well as the celebrations of God's goodness and patience. It is about a life, not only devoted to seeing prayer change the hearts of others (children in this case), but about a life indelibly changed itself by those same prayers.
Unceasing portrays itself as a book for parents wanting to know how to pray for their children, but its message is far broader than that. Anyone who desires to yield themselves to God's direction of their life, specifically in the area of prayerful communication with the One Who made them, can benefit from a consideration of the book's message.
Ultimately, the book is a marvelous and honest witness of God's love and power to conquer the demons, both external and internal, that plague us as we struggle forward in living our lives of faith.

I felt like this book was written for me and the exact place I'm currently at with my kids. It has already paid dividends with more prayer and less worry, specifically about their long-term, lifelong salvation and love for Jesus. Just the book I needed right now! Thank you to my bible study for accompanying me on the ride (and listening to my complain and stress out, future-trippin').
