Can bitter rivals come to love each other? Fighting deep prejudice against her femininity, her choice of vehicle, and even her heritage, Camara Cole is determined to win the mud-bog racing championship this year. Her biggest competition seems also to be her worst enemy. Chase Lamar has been racing mud-boggers as long as Camara, and he grudgingly admits she's the best driver-mechanic he knows. Their rivalry has been long and bitter. But Chase is a new Christian. As he begins to change, he finds his relationship with Camara changing, too. When Camara's vehicle is sabatoged, she naturally blames Chase, despite a growing attraction. Chase must prove his innocence, but evidence points his way. When the smoke clears and the truth is known, will each be able to extend forgiveness, maybe even love?
Romance, clean. Cute light romance with Christian faith elements. A little sicky sweet, but still a fun light escape read. Things tied together a little too well at the end, but still a fun story between the main characters. The side characters were what had me not enjoying the story quite as much (they were caricatures/sterotypes but that is what you get from light reading). More of a 2.5 for me as a reader. I loved the strong can do attitude of the h, and loved how the H supported her with her ambitions and strengths. Ok read nothing fantastic, definitely a cute back story and different setting. Characters were ok, nothing deep, a light cutesy romance with a bit of 'drama.'
The Bride Wore Coveralls is the first book I have read by Debra Ullrick. I downloaded it a long time ago because the title caught my attention.
I liked Camara. She is a strong character, although she often struggles with pride. I think she had to be a strong character to put up with all the teasing and ribbing she got by being a woman in a "man's" field. I got tired of ALL the men telling Camara to quit mud bog-racing/being a mechanic and let the men do it. While some of it is teasing, you feel for her as it constantly rubs her wrong.
I liked Chase as well. We get a good look at who he used to be and how Christ has changed him. He is in a difficult place because of his father and is trying hard to do the right thing. I enjoyed seeing his and Camara's friendship grow.
The Bride Wore Coveralls is a quick read, with a unique storyline. I enjoyed it and recommend it to anyone who enjoys a light romance novel.
This is a Christian book. It’s a clean read. I liked it but I felt that it was very repetitive, the same scene kept replaying over and over again. Having said that, I thought the idea of a female bog racer/mechanic was very original.
I started this one in the ending hours of my first ever Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon and my first thought about it was "What took me so long to get to this?!". Sadly, this sentiment did not carry through the remainder of the book.
Camara was so snooty! She acted like she was the greatest thing since sliced bread to come along to the racing and auto mechanics worlds, but she wasn't anything special. She thought she knew it all, and that wound up costing her at times in the story. I really didn't see her gradual change, just that she did, and found it rather startling, which made their fall in love not as believable for me.
I loved Chase! I would have loved to see a before/after look at him, but the descriptions of how he was before he accepted Christ worked nearly as well. I liked how he held to his beliefs, even though Camara was always accusing him of wrongdoing.
All things considered, this was a good book, and got me interested enough in the series to read the next book.
Camara has a huge problem, she is a woman in a man's world, or so some of the men she works with at her daddy's Chevy repair shop think, especially Bobby-Rae. Well that's ok she just needs to keep doing what she knows is right! The only other thing she loves is Mud-Bog racing. She feels her Chevy can beat Chase's Ford any day. Chase has been different lately, he has been going to church with John and even her brother Erik. She's still cautious, however, as he along with so many other men have pulled enough pranks on her. Only now his daddy is being mean to her, even threatening her to stay away from Chase or else, even when the only thing they are doing is talking. Then Chase seems to take an interest in her. Why? She doesn't really care as she likes spending time with him. But it seems like no matter when Chase's daddy sees her he says the same thing, only it's getting worse. Doesn't make sense! What keeps happening to her truck doesn't make sense either. Then she also starts getting hurt. Is someone out to get her? Who could it be? Why does Chase's daddy hate her family so much? Would he take it to an extreme? Only one way to find out, read this great story by Debra Ullrick to find out who it seems is out to get her.
I loved reading this. Seeing how difficult it was for Camara to fully trust Chase after so many years depicted a real way that many might have gone about that exact situation. I enjoyed seeing how much Chase’s meeting Christ really changed his entire outlook on life and how being apart of his fathers plans to hurt the Coles no longer interested him because of it first before he realized how much he loved her. I’m thankful that Mr. Lamar finally saw the error of his ways and came to Christ after learning the truth and realizing that all his hatred and bitterness for the Coles was not only hurting him but also those he loved like his son. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!! I’m excited to see how Erik’s love story plays out!!

Surprised and loved it!!! I downloaded this 156 page Ebook because it was free. I don't know anything about mud-bog racing and so I did not know what to expect. It ended up being a really fun read with a fresh storyline and I plan to read other books by this author now. Lots of Christian elements and spiritual truths woven throughout every chapter in this entire book. Characters in the story appropriately worked through things that happened both in their past and in the present because of their Christian faith. You will finish this book with a "warm, cozy" feeling and you will wish that all our stories in real life worked out like this!!
I liked this book, I really did but since I can't give 3,5 stars, I have to give 3. Camara, I liked her but she pissing me off for not trusting him, people change and he hadn't done anything at that point to make her distrust him, and I understand that the guys don't like her being mechanic and involved in cars and wtv, but that not an excuse for how she treated him. And Chase, I really like him, doing everything he could for her, my type of man. Overall, I like this book and I recomend it , it's a very cute enemies to lovers christian book.
This is the first book I read from this author and let me tell you that I loved it! Such a good book with great characters that keeps you obsessed with every page since the first one. The ending of this book.. come on! I just didn´t expect it! Can´t wait to read other books from this great writer! Amazing job! a must-read!. A fantastic book that has it all! I happily endorse this story to any and all who are looking for a romance enjoyable read and a completely different experience than anyone could imagine on their own. Great book!
I took a chance with this story, because Christian romance ain't my thing. I give the author credit for a well-edited manuscript clean of errors. She also appears to have in-depth knowledge of mug bog racing, too. The Ford-Chevy rivalry is a nice, true to life touch. However, at the end of this sweet, sweet, sweet romance, I feel like I've been beaten about the head and shoulders with a Bible. Really, isn't there a more subtle way to get the message across?
Auto mechanic, Camara Cole, is tired of being disrespected by her male counterparts and her male competitors on the Mud Bog Racing Track. But one of them, Chase Lamar, has recently accepted God and is starting to change his attitude. While they are skittishly getting to re-know each other Chase is being bullied by his father to win at all costs and particularly to beat Camara because of a hatred he has for her father. This was a decent inspirational romance with a very different setting.
Growing up with five brothers who teach her everything about monster trucks, engines, and finding cars it is not surprising she became a great mechanic. To be a cute woman who can beat most of the men in her monster truck is to step all over male egos. A cute Christian love story. I received this free and am writing an honest review.
Can bitter rivals come to love each other? Fighting deep prejudice against her femininity, her choice of vehicle, and even her heritage, Camara Cole is determined to win the mud-bog racing championship this year. I read about half of this book, but I just couldn't get in to it.
A Romeo and Juliet story of two lovers being denied their opportunity at love. Hatfields and McCoys story of feuding families. Rivalry, anger, jealousy, hostility separate best friends.
I really enjoyed the story of enemies to lovers. I also love how God can change people. I do wish there had been a prologue with an interaction between the old Chase and Camera so we could have more of an idea where they started.
The Bride Wore Coveralls by Debra Ullrick is a wonderful romance with Christian values and with God’s love and forgiveness shown throughout the entire book. Camara Cole is a beautiful young woman and she is happiest when she is working on a car as a mechanic, building a mud-bog truck, or racing her mud-bog truck in the hopes of winning the championship. She also has a deep faith in God but she fights daily against her pride and her need to prove herself as good a mud-bog racer as any man. Chase Lamar has been Camara’s friend since they were young and they have a running feud about which is the best, her Chevy bogger or his Ford bogger and they each consider the other their greatest competitor. At the beginning of the story, Chase does sabotage her truck a few times but after he becomes a Christian he stops the tampering and prays for her safety. On the last day of the racing season, Camara is again fighting her prideful attitude but if she beats Chase, she will be the Swamper Speedway’s mud-bog champion. Someone has tampered with Camara’s truck and that results in a terrible accident that sends Camara to the hospital and Chase forfeiting the race to go to the hospital to be with Camara.
All the characters were portrayed so realistically that I felt as if most of them were my friends but there were a few that I did not want as friends. I was happy that the author did have at least one of the bad guys become a Christian and end a feud that ran through the entire story. It was heart warming to read the way that both Chase and Camara grew in their spiritual walk with God. The author did an excellent job in showing how pride can hurt us and that God is always willing to forgive us and to shower us with his mercy and grace and to give us the desire to forgive others and to show them mercy. A well developed plot with some twists and turns kept me reading and not putting the book down until I had read the last page. I have never been to a mud-bog race but Debra’s descriptions of the scenes and action made the races come alive and I could clearly see in my imagination exactly what was happening. I could even hear the roar of the engines, the cheers of the crowd, and even feel the mud on my face. The ending of the book was great and even provided me with some good laughs.
I highly recommend this book to everyone who likes a great Christian romance that also provides laughter and tears. I also recommend that you read the sequel, Deja Vu Bride, which is just as enjoyable and as much fun to read.
Thanks to the author, Debra Ullrick, for providing me with a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
I loved that the two main characters were legit enemies at first. Not "Hey, I saw the last doughnut first and you took it!" enemies. These two spent years competing at mud-bog racing. Now Chase is not only competing against her for the trophy -- he's competing with every dirty trick he's ever pulled on her and each rude comment he's ever made to or about her. Because now that he's become an active Christian, he finds himself falling in love with the enigmatic mud-slinging, truck-building, dang-she's-feminine-when-she-wants-to-be Camara Cole. It's not easy for either of them to grasp the new direction their relationship is trying to go, and I genuinely appreciated that the root of his father's hate for her entire family had a solid basis. (Please note, that is not the same as my endorsing hate.) It wasn't based on misunderstanding something someone thought they heard or carelessly getting a social wire crossed when they were both young and dumb. The pain and hurt ran so much deeper than that. All the loose ends were tied up by the end and the wedding scene had a cute plot twist that I enjoyed.
