Gabriel Hendricks used to be a priest. The church excommunicated his ass when he refused to cover up a sexual scandal that exposed the hypocrisy and twisted ideology of organized religion.

Abandoning his faith gave Gabriel time to care for one of his parishioners-turned-mentor at the end of the man’s long life. Following his death, Gabriel inherited priceless relics along with a luxurious Manhattan penthouse to store them in. Adrift in a city full of temptations, he has a fortune large enough to indulge any of his wicked whims.

He and his dog Goliath are settling in when the building’s manager, Everly Wright, makes Gabriel feel a little too at home in his new surroundings. As he struggles to find inner peace, he begins to realize that caring for others is still part of his calling, just in an entirely new—and very erotic—way.

Lost, Gabriel seeks to regain balance in his life and decide for himself what’s good for his soul…even if it makes him a sinner of the worst sort.

Gabriel is a former priest who was raised in the church and indoctrinated with their belief system. Gabriel didn’t know of any other way of life outside of the church, and he’s been floundering in the world since his excommunication—personally and professionally. Especially sexually.

Everly has tried to prove to Gabriel that she’s there for him in any way. She’s equally as attracted to the man as to his mind. She is ready, willing and able to try to help him navigate his new normal—especially if it’s done between the sheets.

But is Gabriel ready to move on with his life. Is he able to forget the past and all the teachings of the church that abandoned him instead of doing the right thing? Can he move beyond his pain to learn to love himself and Everly?

Good golly… I’m still reeling a bit from reading Sinner and working through some of the issues that Gabriel dealt with—I have my own concerns regarding the Catholic church and there’s not enough time or writing space to explain them . . . but anyway, back to Gabriel and Everly.

I just adored Gabriel and Everly as a couple. Loved her confidence and ability to empathize with Gabriel and understand what some of his hang-ups may be lingering after living his life behind the veil of the church. And I felt so much with Gabriel—his pain, his hurt, his want and desire to love and forgive. He was a bit of a bent not broken man who was healed through Everly’s love. Sigh and swoon.

I am enjoying this Penthouse Pleasures series immensely and can’t wait for more! ~ Missy, 4.5 stars

After meeting Gabriel in Taboo I was keeping my toes crossed that we’d get more Gabriel, as well as Goliath, in another book in this series because who wouldn’t want to know more about a man who was once a priest in the Catholic faith and left it? And I was all kinds of happy when Sinner dropped into my heads and found that it was Gabriel’s story and must say that I loved getting to know the man behind the robes. Sinner was all kinds of smexy (of course) but it was also filled with heart as Gabriel search for forgiveness, redemption and what his purpose would be in this next chapter of his life.

My heart hurt for Gabriel because here is a man who truly believed in the goodness that the faith he’d given his heart and soul to, but then broke when the blinders were ripped off and he realized his own ingrained sense of honor didn’t match those of his brethren and now has to find a way to come to terms with his new reality. I really liked Everly. She’s kind, open and has a stubborn, yet compassionate, determination that makes her one hell of a strong woman. She’s comfortable in her own skin and not afraid to take charge when necessary.

I really enjoyed how Gabriel and Everly’s relationship evolved. Despite the short amount of time, it never felt rushed because we dive in at an important crossroads and never look back. The chemistry between them is intense and I loved how Everly was the one who took charge in more ways than one, but still gave Gabriel the reins when he was ready for it. The roadblocks to their HEA are deep, but I really liked how everything worked itself out.

This was a quick, smexy and well written novella. The hot topic issue was presented in a realistic and respectful manner and I like how it was all handled in the end. Catching up with Jase, Ian and Casey was fun and Goliath was just a sweetheart. So, if you’re looking for a quick, hot read, then this one is for you!

4 Star Review Sinner (Penthouse Pleasures Book 3) by Jayne Rylon,Opal Carew and Avery Aster

The latest instalment in the exciting new series from these three talented authors. This was another fun quick read set amidst the bright lights of Manhattan revolving around the lives of six penthouse apartment owners.

This story resolves around ex priest Gabriel Hendrick and property manager Everly Wright whom we met in Taboo, the first book in the series.

Gabriel is lost, having been excommunicated and thrown out of his church, he is searching for something but what it is he is unsure. His only close friend is his dog Goliath although he is immensely attracted to the hot and sexy Everly.; could she hold the key to his happiness?

Everly has been attracted to Gabriel since she first met him and the attraction between these two sizzles. When they both finally decide to give in to the sparks which are flying between them it is smoking hot, yet tender.

I really felt for Gabriel as he struggled with both his past and where he saw his future, Everly was a great character full of life and ready to grab on to who she wants and take a leap of faith.
I found it endearing that Gabriel went to his neighbours Casey, Jace and Ian for some much needed guidance.

I realise that this is a novella but I felt that the story was rushed, they no sooner got together and then the story ended. Having said that they I am intrigued as to whose story will be next.

I’ve been really enjoying the stories in the Penthouse Pleasures series and Sinner is definitely my favorite so far! Gabriel is a former priest (I was won over right there!) and he inherited the luxury penthouse and the fortune that goes along with it. Despite no longer being a priest he tries hard to lead a sin free life (he wasn’t the one who wanted to leave the Church) which is not always easy given the temptations that surround him. When he meets Everly, he begins to question his search for inner peace. Helping others is still a big part of the life he leads, but maybe the way he helps a certain someone needs to be different than he imagines. Boy is this story hot and sexy! I just adored Gabriel and Everly is so perfect for him. Another great addition to this sexy unmissable series,

This is a great addition to The Penthouse series. I was eager to read this story after meeting these characters in the first book to this series. The story is interesting with complex characters. There are a few social issues that are handled with tact. I look forward to reading the other books in this series.

**I received a copy of this as an ARC from the author in return for an honest review**

So I haven't read the second one in the series, which normally would mean that I cannot under any circumstances read this one. However, as I've read the first one, that's all that matters as the second one was written by someone else and isn't directly related to this one.

Okay, so the baby is sick with the chicken pox and thus napping on me. This meant I've gotten nothing done and actually allowed me to sit and read a book (thank goodness I downloaded it to my phone lol!).

I liked this one more than Taboo (it won't let me link to the book at the moment). Maybe it just didn't seem as far fetched.

However, I felt a big disconnect with the female lead of Everly. This is supposed to be her story too, and it just didn't feel that way. The only reason I knew as much as I did about Everly is because of meeting her in Taboo. Otherwise all I know is that she has had the hots for Gabriel since he moved in.

Gabriel, I connected with him, he had a story. A plausible story (much more plausible than the trailer trash that pulled her self up by her bootstraps to buy the penthouse next door in less years than it would have taken to pay off her student debt). Okay, most of his story is plausible. How he got the penthouse is still a little, well I want to say far fetched but you do read stories about stuff like that happening.

The sex was good. The addition of Colton was nice, I wouldn't have minded a little M/M/F, but I get why this book didn't ultimately have that (as Taboo did).

There wasn't any drama in this though, other than Gabriel dealing with his 'I'm a monster' moments. At least Taboo had the villain dropping through the ceiling in a comically ridiculous fashion.

However with that, I still liked it. It was relatively short, it kept me entertained while I had a very sick toddler sleeping on me.

**Received ARC for a fair and honest review**
Sinner is book 3 in the Penthouse Pleasures series. I'd rate this book at 4.5 stars! I've been wanting Gabriel's story since we learned about him in Taboo and this book doesn't disappoint!! This book can be read as a standalone, however there is a lot of stuff that happens in the first book that makes it best if read in order.
Gabriel is lost since he left the priesthood. Coming into some money has given him a place to stay, but his own self deprecation isn't helping him any, and lusting after the building manager is just the icing on the cake of his own misery.
Everly is the building manager and after Goliath, Gabriel's dog is shot protecting a neighbor, she comes around daily to help care for him, and it doesn't hurt that the owner while brooding is hot. When Everly comes to get Goliath for a walk and walks in on the owner, things will start to get very heated!

I really enjoyed this book and flew through it. I enjoyed the chemistry between the characters, the discourse, the story line. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is 1. I wanted more of Gabriel's backstory- they briefly touch on his childhood, but gloss over it so much it leaves you really wanting that story. 2. The ending, while it is a HEA, they just barely get together and poof it's over. I really wanted more!! While you get glimpses of the previous characters in the stories, which I do love, I don't think it's enough to omit the ending... even an epilogue or something. Anyways... overall, I really did enjoy this book, and have enjoyed this series tremendously! Can't wait for the next book in the series! Hope this helps! Happy Reading!!!

Review:

Super quick and sexy read about Everly and Gabriel who if you read the first book in the series you will recognize. If not, no worries you can read them out of order and not have a problem. Gabriel is an ex-priest who has to come to terms with how he handled an injustice before he can forgive himself and give himself fully to Everly. Everly is trying to open Gabriel to his sensual side and the possibility of a relationship. I liked that the man was the virgin, goes perfectly with him being an ex-priest. I also thought the sexual abuse aspect was very timely to what is happening in the world today. For such a short story it was very well-rounded and satisfying.

4 1/2 stars!

Sinner, by bestselling author Jayne Rylon, is the third book in the exciting, multi-author Penthouse Pleasures series. A sexy, steamy, intriguing romance that you won't want to miss! Gabriel, his hero dog Goliath, and Everly were introduced in book #1, Taboo, and I knew their story would be terrific, but this definitely exceeded my expectations. Gabriel is an ex-Catholic priest, was excommunicated after witnessing a horrific act, and refused to ignore it, as well as keep it quiet. After that he lost his faith in the church, and everything he ever believed in, including himself.

Everly is the manager of the luxurious Manhattan high rise, which is how she met Gabriel. They've become friends, even though they're secretly attracted to the other, but Everly is tired of letting Gabriel's past haunt and torture him. She doesn't know exactly what happened, but she sees the darkness in him and wants to help him heal. She's willing to put her heart on the line, and do whatever it takes to help him be the man he was always supposed to be, especially if they can finally being together. Can Everly erase the darkness that threatens to drown him? Can her light shine bright enough for the both of them? Will they both be able to get over the hurt, past and present, and finally get the HEA they want and deserve? You'll have to read it to find out!

I strongly recommend this book, series, and fantastic author!

Gabriel Hendricks is struggling to come to terms with the reality he's facing after finding himself excommunicated form the church in which he was raised, he's no longer sure exactly what he believes in. After finding himself the benefactor of an upscale Manhattan apartment but not quite sure how he fits in to this new lifestyle, Gabriel befriends the building manager, Everly Wright.

We first meet Gabriel and Everly in book 1 of this collection which is a nice introduction and sets you up for this pairing. In Sinner, the relationship burns bright and fast. There's very little build-up or preamble before things get going.

I found this book quite short (It felt much shorter than the other books in this series, is that just because it started off with a bang? Not sure!) and would have liked a bit more depth in the story and characters. If you're a lover of Jayne Rylon's books, then you'll obviously like this one too. For me, it felt a bit forced and rushed... almost like the porno trope "*knock knock* Hey, we didn't order any pizza"

I also didn't care for the references to the church's sexual scandal involving children.. I mean, I'm not naive and I know it is a legitimate issue but it's not something you want to think about when - BAM - the next page has steamy sexytimes. It just didn't sit well with me. So, as much as I love Jayne Rylon and her work this book was not among my favourites.

Hot and sexy.

There's something about naughty priest/former priest stories that really suck me in and I really liked this one.

Gabriel and Everly appeared in Taboo but this book stands fine all on its own. Sinner dives right into the sexy time with Everly discovering Gabriel naked in his pool when she comes to get his dog for a walk.

There were parts of this sexy story that made me laugh – almost to the point of tears, and other parts that made me sad for Gabriel. I enjoyed his journey as Everly helped him discover the pleasures of sex and love with something besides his own hand.

There was only one thing that bothered me, which kept it from being a 5-star review. There was no conclusion to something Gabriel witnessed. I really can't say more without giving away too much. I wouldn't call it a cliffhanger at all as I don't think it will be brought up in the upcoming books, I would just have liked more of a resolution to what happened.

This was a pretty short novella; I finished it in less than 2 hours. The story ended at 80% for me on my ereader; I wish it had been just a tad longer.

An advanced copy of this book was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.

Gabriel gave up the only life he had ever known when he quit the priesthood. From a very young age he had been led to believe a certain set of facts that was not true. He began questioning his faith and ultimately left under intense circumstances where he had been set up. Casey has spent a year trying to help Gabriel find his new normal. The problem is that Gabriel believes the lies and does not feel he is good enough.

I really liked these two characters. Separately and together. They help each other find themselves in unique ways and have a relationship that builds from friends to become more. She also helps him explore. I loved seeing Casey, Jase, and Ian make an appearance here and that they were able to help Gabriel understand that he was as much a victim as anyone else. Jayne and company have delivered a wonderful short and hot read. They created the perfect amount of turmoil and angst.

One word of warning: this is about a Catholic priest who gives up his priesthood due to some thing that have been in the news. It does not show the Catholic leadership in a good light. I am not personally religious, and this was taken from headlines. But I believe a fair warning is due.

Sinner is the third book in the Penthouse It is Gabriel’s story. He and Everly were introduced in book #1, Taboo. Gabriel, who was raised in a catholic orphanage, is an ex-Catholic priest that was excommunicated after witnessing a horrific act that he refused to ignore and cover up. He had been slowly losing his faith in the church, and everything he ever believed in, and that was the last straw. This left him questioning everything including himself and where he belonged and what he should be doing with his life. Everly is the manager of the luxurious Manhattan high rise that Gabriel lives in. They have slowly become friends, and are fighting their attraction to each other. Everly does not know exactly what happened in his past and Gabriel worries that if she does it will change her feelings towards him. She's willing to do whatever it takes to help him be the man he was always supposed to be, especially if they can finally being together but only if he is willing to let go of the past and move forward. Can she prove to him that she will love him no matter what and does he have enough faith left to believe her? I highly recommend this book by a trio of fantastic authors.

Gabriel is a unique and complex character. Intricate and deep, on many levels. I had a feeling that he was going to be more than intriguing when I first met him in Taboo. He’s rediscovering who he is. A lot of soul searching, questioning and a leap of faith to indulge in desire and emotions that were taught to be forbidden. Gabriel is the best kind of Sin.

Everly is caring, intuitive and bold. A woman willing to take on the world. I adored her confidence, kindness and willingness. Everly takes pride in herself allowing her sensual side to shine through. Her tenderness, attention and affection allowed a lost man to begin to find a new path.

Emotional, sensual and worth of bit of sin. Sinner, the last installment of the Penthouse Pleasures Series will get you mind going while making all your deep, dark secret sins come through. Gabriel and Everly are intense, deep and completely enthralled by the chemistry that all but explodes when they are together. They complement each other perfectly. Bringing out parts of each in way that are only sinful to those that don't understand. Jayne Rylon’s Sinner is perfectly wicked in every sinful way.

Finally the quiet, secretive Gabriel gets a story of his own!

My heart went out to the struggling man trying to find his own way after all that he had worked for and believed had been turned upside down. Gabriel's story of how his past beliefs had been reeling, his struggles to interact in society on his own and with his neighbours were perfect. The right balance of retelling the story from the past, the emotional struggles of having everything that you once believed being questioned and finding a sense of self from a different point of view.

Everly is kind, out going and strong. A woman who knows who she is and what she wants and isn't afraid to say it right out. She takes the lead when needed, also knows when to allow Gabriel to further explore who he is and what he wants. The couple is a good balance together.

A steamy story of friendship, discovery and romance. A quick, well written story to get lost in for a few hours. I loved revisiting past characters, and perhaps meeting a new one for a future book. Can't wait to see who's penthouse we will be visiting next.

I received a copy of this book for an honest review.

A man who is trying to find himself in a world not his own. His only anchor is the building manager, who's companionship he values more than the worldly treasures he now possesses.

Everly knows that the emotional scars that Gabriel tries to hide are slowly killing his soul. She wants to be more than his friend, but is scared of doing anything to jeopardize that friendship. Everly wants to see Gabriel happy, to be the man she can sense hiding below the surface.

Gabriel is mad at himself and the people who were supposed to mentor and support him. When an abuse of power comes to light and he blew the whistle, he quickly found he was the outcast for not keeping with the status quo.

As Every and Gabriel explore being more than friends, Gabriel realizes that in order to be the man he wants to be, he must confront the demons from his past. He knows with Everly at side, he can be that man.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review....

Gabriel was born and raised by the church. It's all he knows but he decides he must break ties with the priesthood for very righteous reasons and yet he is still trying to come to terms with his more basic human nature and desires. Everly, the said main object of these desires, has become aware of his needs and is willing to assist in any activity Gabriel wants to try. Gabriel is not a bold man when it comes to the physical aspects of life unsure of his souls rest or what to do with his body's desires. Everly takes a step forward for them luckily and the flames ignite so HOT. The pages burn intensely from one scene to the next. It was hard for me to take a breath. Gabriel took moments to wrestle with his identity and things within the pages one does but the authors kept the fires lit till the end with a satisfying conclusion for the readers.

Finally we find out more about the mysterious Gabriel! If you've read the other Penthouse Pleasures books you'll know what I mean - if not, he has been a secondary character in them and now we have his story.

Gabriel is struggling to find his way in a whole new world after leaving the clergy. He is at a loss as what to do with his life and fighting inner demons about his past and also with his feelings about Everly.

Everly can't resist the quiet man that she has come to know and be attracted to but is there anything more for them than just a surface attraction. Is Gabriel even in a place for more or does he have more to give at this point in his life?

Together (and at one point with some help) they discover together their attraction and explore. Super HOT and sexy - one older virgin and his not shy friend.

Be aware at one point there is MFM action and brief MM. I would not classify it as cheating though as it is all consensual.

This story is about Everly and Gabriel. Gabriel has left the church after seeing something horrible that makes him conflicted about his beliefs. A friend of his leaves his penthouse to Gabriel when he passes away. He moves to the penthouse and becomes good friends with the other tenants. Everly has been attracted to Gabriel since she first met him. Can Gabriel give Everly a chance and tap into his repressed desires?

I like Everly she was fun and nice and Gabriel was a sweetheart even though he was conflicted about what he was doing with her. I like that he's willing to see how things could be with her despite his reservations. I loved seeing Casey and her guys again when Gabriel visits for advice. I thought the book was short but not too short it can easily be read quite quickly. I loved the final chapter where Gabriel finally gains confidence and takes what he wants in this case Everly. I great story can't wait to read the rest of the books in the series

This is a story about unleashing who you are, even if you aren't sure, or aren't comfortable, with who that is. Having been raised deep with deep beliefs instilled in him, and then entering the priesthood, and then being turned out, Gabriel is still a mess a year later. He still believes strongly, but seems to follow as he has been taught

Lucky for Gabriel, Everly is around. She absolutely gets this strong, silent, sexy, conflicted, beautiful man. Real life isn't made up of ultimate's, but a million shades and colours. She is happy to act as Gabriel's tour guide, so long as he is honest with himself

When the book starts with a naked man imagining our heroine while he takes care of business, and she catches him and offers to help? Yeah. There is a shimmer of melancholy over the book, but the smexy times are crazy hot, so be prepared!

This is my second story in this series, I missed book 3 but I certainly don’t feel that I have missed out on anything.

These are characters we met in Taboo and I’m so glad we get to get their story. Gabriel, a priest who has been turned away from all that he has known and groomed to be, is trying to find his way in the world outside of the priesthood. Everly tempts him and he may be thankful that he is no longer a priest.

As he struggles with his personal demons it’s Everly who can make him see the light. I really enjoyed their chemistry and even though the story was short, we got to see how they resolve at least of those issues that had Gabriel wanting to say goodbye to Everly. Their passion is explosive, I know you will enjoy this erotic story.

In this, the newest release of the Penthouse Pleasures series we have the story of Gabriel and Everly.

A Priest who has lost his faith and is no longer in the ministry and a building manager who has the responsibility of looking after the owners of the prestigious Penthouse Suites.

Everly leads Gabriel into temptation and he more than tastes the once forbidden fruit. She also manages to deliver him from the evil thoughts surrounding what he perceives as guilt.

Everly tutors Gabriel through his first sexual experience and allows him to explore his desire.

This novel is short and incredibly hot.  Definitely something to heat up a cold, wet and dreary Sunday afternoon.

Another sexy book in the Penthouse series. Gabriel is an ex priest who was left the penthouse and all the previous tenants money after dedicating himself to helping the elderly man after leaving the priesthood. He left the priesthood by choice and not by choice when he discovers that to much is hidden and told to keep quite. He can not live with that. Everly is in charge of making sure the tenants in the penthouses have everything they need and everything runs smoothly. She wants to help Gabriel to comes to terms with who he is now and who he can be, and that includes the pleasure of sex, and the feelings they have for each other. Only if Gabriel can let go of his past, and comes to terms with what he wants for their future. Great series, amazing characters.

This is Book 3 in the Penthouse Pleasures series. Gabriel was a priest before leaving the Church after witnessing some bad things going on. He received the penthouse after the death of his friend. Everly is the manager of the penthouse. We met them in the first book of the series and I couldn’t wait to read their story. Gabriel has a hard time with his past and can’t let go of the past. This is such a great story where we see the chemistry between the two grow into the new reality of Gabriel’s life with Everly. It’s another great book in a really good series. Keep up with the great work! I can’t wait for the next book in the series. I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book that I received from the author.

I love how we finally got to hear Gabriel's story as he has been in the other books of this series. I feel like the character development of this book went a lot deeper and explained a lot more than the first book and even the second. You really get to know the characters and there are few things that you wonder about if they will happen and it definitely keeps you wondering but it also answers a lot of questions. I also love hearing Everly's story and how both of them sort of doubted that they were good enough for the other person. This book would be a great standalone because it is that will written but it works better in the series so you have a little bit more backstory. Overall an exceptional book.

Sizzling hot sexy times abound in Sinner. The third in this series about neighbours in a wealthy New York high rise penthouse, it can be read as a stand-alone book.

The characters are strong and likable. The plot idea of an excommunicated Catholic priest, Gabriel, who witnessed abuse covered over by his superiors and his friend, turned lover, the manager of the high rise, Everly. The plot idea was strong, but could have benefited from more time in the storyline. This novella dedicates over half its pages to steamy scenes and less than half to the storyline itself. Otherwise, it was a good short read.

This was another great book in the Penthouse Pleasures series. While you don’t have to read the previous books, there are a few parts that will make more sense if you have the read others.

Gabriel Hendricks is a torn between who he was raised to be, and finding who is now in a world, he didn’t ever think he would be a part of. Every helps bring him out of his shell.

This book would have been a lot better with an extra 50 pages. While the topics it touches are not easy, the characters seem to overcome them quickly. I wanted more background on Everly so that I could understand her a little bit more. In the end, it’s an easy read and HOT, so you can’t go wrong.

**I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.**

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book knowing that Gabriel was an ex-priest. Of course we all had questions of how that came to be and they were answered with very relevant topics. Everly is way more take charge than I remember and I love it! A lot of women are written as meek and needing help but Everly is a "grabs the bull by the horns and rides him to her satifaction" kind of girl.

I loved this 3rd installment of the Penthouse series. It had a lot of steamy, sexy times as well heart tugging moments which is what I've come to expect from this group of authors. On to the 4th!

Sinner by Jayne Rylon is the first book I've read in the Penthouse Pleasures series and I will be going back to read the first 2 for sure.

This is a quick story about an ex-priest and a building manager. I didn't think it was taboo because he was out of the priesthood for a while before having any sort of sexual encounters with Everly. Everly allows Gabriel to figure out what he wants and how he wants it all the while being patient and waiting to see if what they want is the same thing.

Obviously, there is quite a bit of background laid out the previous stories but I was still able to read it as a stand alone.
