Flying Free

Rate this book
It takes more than blood to make a family.

You’d think after solving the mystery of eight missing Specials and reuniting her friends with their family Lexus could finally settle into her new life as a Catalyst. But the mother she never knew existed has been taken hostage by the one person Lexus should be able to trust, and she can’t rest until she finds her.

With no leads to follow, Lexus’ boyfriends think the search is a lost cause, but Lexus isn’t willing to give up yet. When the twins leave the academy to spend time with the parents they thought were dead, their frenemy Jaxson is all too happy to take their place. But when Jaxson and Lexus run away together, the twins must decide where their allegiance really lies.

Family is worth fighting for, but is family a choice?

If you like paranormal romance stories with supernatural magic, a love triangle hotter than Twilight, and John Green style teenage angst, you'll be captivated by Growing Wings!

Okay

I can't say that I loved this but it was well written and a quick easy read. I was disappointed in Lexus and her lack of character development. She was wimpy in the beginning and was wimpy all the way through the end. The guys didn't impress me much either. That said, I do think they acted their age and was impressed with the consistency there. I'm not a huge fan of YA books but it drives me nuts when the MCs act like adults. I felt like this cast's responses were consistent for teenagers. My biggest compllaint was the sex in the last book. I'm not crazy about YA books that have the MCs having sex. Overall though, it was an entertaining series that I would recommend for a quick easy read.

It wasn’t a bad end to the story it just seemed to wrap up entirely too easily. It seemed the story played out on fast forward. If this was the last book in the series it’s end didn’t leave me satisfied. 2 stars

The Caged series written by Kellie McAllen is a slow burn YA paranormal RH, although ménage is probably a better description for the first couple of books. There’s 4 in the series and I purchased the complete set on audible.

So first off I listened to about 10mins and couldn’t handle the narrator. Her voice really set me off and I was cringing when she was doing Griff and Phoenix’s POVs. I think I may have enjoyed it a lot better had I read the books rather than listening.

The characters are well developed. Our FMC Lexus comes from a disadvantaged upbringing. Her father is in prison for manslaughter and her mother is the town drunk hussy. From an early age Lexus has had to look after herself and fight her own battles given she is the schools outcast she is bullied relentlessly. That is until twins Griffin and Phoenix move to town and instantly are interested in learning more about her. Sparks fly when they’re around each other, literally, and when they find out that they are Special they find themselves embroiled in a world they never new existed.

Through the books Lexus struggles with her identity and her desire to keep both boys, it becomes worse when she develops feelings for Jackson. Whilst she is shy she has a massive sense of justice and in the last book we see her overcome some of these struggles when she takes her enemy face on.

The twins are in foster care they have been trying to find out what happened to their parents for the last 10 years but when they meet Lexus it’s the first time they have care more about someone else. But this is also the first time they have never wanted to share so for the most part Griff and Phoenix have this underlying competitiveness to impress Lexus so she will choose one over the other, they bicker and argue for most of the first book and the pressure to choose carries into the second. When they realise that their rivalry is hurting Lexus they must change and try to share. Many times I had a face palm moment because of these two (especially Phoenix). Phoenix in particular is impulsive and a bit abrasive, Griffin is calculating and this time round didn’t want to give up the one thing he wants most.

The story itself is good there are many twists and turns that kept me interested and there are so many slimy characters that you can help but hope our heroine and heroes destroy but obviously you’ll need to read to find out. Just know that by the end of the series there is a HEA.

I admire Kellie McAllen as an author and have enjoyed all her books. Talent and imagination is something she has in abundance. This series was another well written series with book.4. being the conclusion. I would say it is placed in the right genre. This series covers nearly every emotion a YA would have, but with a supernatural twist that carry’s a great deal of originality. The original storyline is not one I have come across before and if I was totally honest there was one particular aspect that I found uncomfortable, but that just me. I won’t say what aspect it was as I believe all books should be read completely unbiased as we all have different views on life, that’s another reason I don’t leave spoilers. This is an easy read series but with some very high^s and some great suspense thrown into the mix with life’s lessons of bullies and insecurities and how they are overcome with these particular characters. The main character is a 15yr old girl, but the other characters involved are given there own chapters, so you are able to see things from their points of view. This all leads to a series that I have really enjoyed and would definitely recommend to YA fantasy readers. You really can’t go wrong with this author, I’m sad in a way to see the end of these characters. But also very excited if Kellie McAllen is gearing up to give us another slice of her imagination in some new books.

This was such a good series. The series as a whole earned 5 stars from me, separately each book was probably a 3.5 or 4. Sadly I sped through the series, starting yesterday and now finishing the fourth book just now. Some of the revelations were predictable but not overly so. I loved the fact that the romance was both rushed and not rushed. At 15, an abused and lonely girl gets attention from 3 very attractive guys who look at her like she poops the moon out every night, she's going to fall hard and fast. So it makes sense, if they were adults it wouldn't of worked as well. I am happy that there was sex but no sex scene, the majority of the population has sexual relations before they are 18, and again it goes back to the damage all of them have dealt with and finally have someone giving them proper attention. But that being said I am glad that McAllen did not add a sex scene, no one wants to read about that >.<. I am so happy that they still include the former foster family in their lives as well. It was a good series and am looking forward to reading more from this author.

Guys, what a great ending to a can't put down series. If you have been following the series from the start (which is recommended) you know that Lexus and the guys Griffin, Phoenix and Jaxon haven't always had things so easy. But what I enjoyed so much about Flying Free, is that the characters evolve, and grow. You become invested in these characters that you root for them, and get mad at them, but at the end of the series you will be in book heaven. Yes there are bumps, with the twins getting their parents back. The question of will they stay with them or help Lexus? With the twins gone guess who slides his way in? Yep, Jaxon, the guy you love to hate. Does Lexus find her mother, is the council good. What about the school and the students there? Kellie does a really good job of tying everything up and making the Caged Series a must read for the RH fans. You will not be disappointed on this series at all

Fantastic Conclusion to an Outstanding Series!!!

Unbelievably creative last book in an exciting and hard-to-put-down series. Kellie takes us on an incredible adventure that I never saw coming! Lexus, Griffin, Phoenix & Jaxson get their HEA, but they really work for it! Uncovering secrets buried at their school for Specials, they start working as a team to right the wrongs that have been caused by other Specials.

If you enjoy YA paranormal romances, you’ll love this series! This book can be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend reading the entire series, in order, for maximum enjoyment. No Cliffhanger and a HEA for Lexus and the guys!

Flying Free is the conclusion of The Caged Series. The series has been a wild ride full of surprises, twists, and turns. Lexus really came into her own in this story. She gained some much-needed confidence. I enjoyed the fact that Griffin and Phoenix could put aside their rivalry with Jaxson and work together.

I wish there had been more details on why people had been abducted and what happened after they were found. I have so many unanswered questions.

If you like YA Paranormal Romance, then I recommend reading this series. It will keep you turning the pages to see what will happen next.

This book was the perfect conclusion to the series.
The new characters that appeared were very important to the story's conclusion, as was the alliance formed between Lexus, the twins, Griffin and Phoenix, and now Jaxson.
It was very interesting to see how they unraveled the mysteries surrounding the disappearances of the Specials and managed to solve the situation.
And Lexus's relationship with the boys was interesting, especially because everyone was able to unite for a greater good. And I loved the reappearance of Lexus' father.
This is another great story by Kellie McAllen with a perfect conclusion.
I recommend the reading.

Justice

I gave this book 5 stars because i liked it. It was steady paced and kept my interest.

NOW granted I'm not sure how I feel about having more than one boyfriend but in the story it worked for them. I couldn't believe the boys left Lexus but I understood why. It was a shock to find out about all the corruption within the council. I mean a group of people designed to care for others who was really destroying others for their own selfish gain is just sad. But at least they were taken down and couldn't play superior to anyone else ever.
All in all, this series was clean, steady paced, and worth my time.

Thank you Kellie for sharing your vision with the world.

This is Flying Free, book 4 of The Caged Series written by Kellie McAllen. In this book we find out what the fallout is from releasing the prisoners at the end of the last book. Lexus still has Phoenix and Griffin as her boyfriends but things are going to get even harder for the trio. Jaxson is fighting his attraction for Lexus until he gets left to protect her. I loved this series! Don’t miss out on the exciting conclusion!! I received an advance readers copy and chose voluntarily to leave this review.

Excellent!

Another great book by Kellie McAllen! I was sucked in, yet again, into Lexus's story, and couldn't put it down. Gripping, fast paced action, special powers and undeniable romance fill the pages, forming a perfect ending to this series.
Jaxson plays a much bigger role, showing his positive side, turning the threesome into a solid foursome. Together, they are unstoppable.
Lexus finds strength within herself, learning she can handle tough situations on her own.
I love this series! If you haven't already read books 1-3, do it now!!!

This series was awful. I appreciate the idea behind the book but the characters were terrible. And you might be asking why I finished the series when I haven't liked it from book one. Well I don't have a great answer... mainly because I have the romance package in audible and a couple of these books were free and they are super short.

So eh. And it looks like a lot of other reviews are positive so maybe give it a shot! The books take like an hour to read.. if that. I personally don't recommend them but to each their own!

Flying Free is the conclusive 4th book in this series. I've always been a fan of Kellie's and this book is what I'd expect from her.

Lexus still has much to do after freeing the prisoners from Anders. Her mom is still missing so she's set on a mission to find her. There were some changes between her relationship with her boyfriends since their parents are back. This led to her getting closer to Jaxon.

In the end all is well and I'd highly recommend this series to anyone who loves RH and HEA :)

What a great way to end this series! I loved it! Lexus was such a great character!and I also loved Griffin and Phoenix, and Jaxson quickly grew on me this book. To watch heir dynamic evolved, and to see them take on something as huge as they experienced in this book was really great to me. They all grew, and found themselves and figured out where they wanted to be. I couldn’t be happier with the ending to the book!

The fourth and final book in this series is as exciting as the rest! Characters and plot are great. The best part of the entire series is that, although Lexus, Phoenix, and Griffin are a three some, Ms. McAllen did not feel the need to go beyond some non explicit sex when writing their story. I loved it, and wish it the last book in the series!

Hmm... I have so many mixed feelings about this final book in the series. I loved more Jackson, but wished the twins were more involved. While I understand why, I felt like their decisions let me down. However, there was a HEA! The author did a good job of tying up loose ends and creating a satisfying ending. Four glittery stars!

Losing it

There are some things I liked and some I didnt. I liked how the story got that climactic drama of the bad guys. The heroes coming together and sticking it out. The girl saving the day. YAY!!! The things I found annoying was Jaxson instantly being accepted. Umm What?!? Did I miss something? I guess after the game down I kinda felt lost.

Lexus finally manages to make peace with her father, and rescue the Specials who were the parents of her boyfriends. Things should be better now, right? Not till they secure and find her mother who has been taken hostage. Yet the twins leave with their parents and now she's alone, but Jaxon is there to help her. Will the two of them manage to avoid the trouble that's coming to get them?

This entire series is off the charts fantastic! I would've liked some more development/details between Lexus and Jaxson but that's just me being greedy because I love him as much as I love the twins but he didn't have the same amount of time with her as they did. And even so this series is still a 5 heck, can I give it a 6?

This was a nice way to end this series. It gave you everything you would want in a happy ending. I'm glad Lexus got closer to Jason and further from the twins because she needed to do things without them there telling her what she should be doing. I would definitely recommend this series.

The twins have their parents back, but will they go live in hiding with them or stay and help Leus find her mother? Is the Council good? What will happen to the school and the students that stay there?

A sweet conclusion to a fun ya series. I enjoyed the fast-pace of the story. I couldn’t put it down wondering what was going to happen next. I enjoyed the mystery and suspense.
The ending was well done and left me with a smile on my face.

I really enjoyed reading this story. You can't deny the attraction between Lexus and her posse of Phoenix, Griffin, and even Jaxson. There is very little this group can't achieve. I would recommend this book to fans of paranormal romance reverse harem style, and YA fantasy.

Great end to the series!

This was action packed and a page turner. We get answers to the mysteries in the other books. I will be sad to see the characters go. It was a great series that was well written.
