Sylvia and Ash are two trans women lovers living together on the Lower East Side. Between evenings in the Village and mornings at the local cafe, life is peaceful enough. But when another trans woman from Sylvia's past enters her life again, Sylvia and Ash's relationship is thrown into turmoil. Faced with her girlfriend's concern, Sylvia is left to deal with a world of fear, control, kink, and lust in New York City's trans community.
Exploring themes of sexual and emotional abuse, Bell is the first in a series of short stories from writer Ana Valens about the lives and struggles of transgender women living in North America. Bell was originally written for the Topside Press Workshop and later rewritten for digital publication. Bell's first edition was released on itch.io in 2016, and a print chapbook is planned for 2017. A sequel is currently in the works.
Bell's Kindle release includes a streamlined text format optimized for Amazon's eBook reader. The short story's cover and four cornerstone illustrations are included as part of the publication.
This work of literature deals with emotional abuse and sexual assault, and it also explores sexual experiences in the trans community in explicit detail. It is therefore recommended for 18+ audiences only.
