When Manchester United re-signed their former youth player Paul Pogba for a world record fee in the summer of 2016, they made a powerful statement.Together with the signing of Zlatan Ibrahimović. It signalled their determination to attract the best players in the world to Old Trafford, despite three seasons of underachievement. In the four years since he had left the Reds, Pogba had blossomed into a midfielder of undoubted world class, his power and dynamism propelling Juventus to a host of club titles and the French national team to within a whisker of winning Euro 2016. With exclusive insights from those closest to the player, Luca Caioli's Pogba is an in-depth portrait of one of modern football's greatest talents.
Luca Caioli (Milan, 1958) is the author of several novels and biographies that have been translated into forty languages and sold a million copies. Throughout a career of over thirty years as a journalist, he has covered the main sports events for the most prominent European media. He currently lives in Madrid.
Overall, the book is interesting. It gives you a very interesting insight into the footballing world. For instance, I have been a football fan myself for more than a decade, but there were certain things in this book that gave me a different perspective of how the football world operates. Certain chapters can definitely be excluded, for instance, there is an entire chapter devoted to description of Turin city. Somehow, it just doesn't add up in a book talking about Pogba, the player. All in all, a good read.
The book I read was the Pogba: The rise of Manchester United's Homecoming Hero By Cyril Collot and Luca Caioli and this was my first time reading this amazing memoir. This memoir is amazing for any inspiring soccer player or any athletes that need motivation about how you should never give up because anything can happen with hard work and determination. Also, this is an amazing novel because it talks more about the professional lifestyle. My soccer teammates were the ones who told me about it and it is one of the better sports novels I have read. This is more of a reader book and not as hard as some novels you would dig in to find the meaning out and analyze thoroughly. I believe most people can read the story about Paul Pogba returning to one of the biggest clubs on the planet. I will probably be reading another soccer related mémoire because they give me the most interest and talk most about the soccer world.
