2.5 stars - Overall, this was an okay read for me. I didn't mind the premise of the story, and I thought it had a lot of potential. Unfortunately, it just fell flat for me and somehow failed to lure me in, to bring me in the story and make me emotionally invested in the wellbeing of the characters. Maybe I was in a wrong mood, maybe I just missed something great based on the other reviews- kind of wondering if I read the same book as everyone else.

Okay read. Only 15% of book. Thank goodness I got it on KU. There are other stories in the book. I read one of them Thirst and it was not good. Might pass on other two. I did like the main story but be warned its the dreaded secret baby trope. Both were celibate while apart. For five years. Good HEA!

I really hate to give this low rating to books. Because theres nothing wrong with the story it just we all have different tastes. But these characters, Casey and Dex, drove me crazy. And not in a good way. I wanted to smack both of them. I don't wanna to reveal much, but...
So, after 5 years Dex is back. He goes after Casey without any serious intentions because he's not into serious and will go on travels for business again. Casey knowing that and being a girl who can't separate feeling from sex, still spreads her legs (sorry for harsh words but my irritations shows up). Living the fairytale and starting to dream. But when Dex guessed that the boy can be his, he bolts. He literally runs away without a word to Casey. SOB! And then after over a month later shows up at the doors steps smiling and with gifts! I wanted to punch him. But I wanted to kill him later, when they had a talk. The things he said....
Honestly, at the beginning I thought Casey was wrong not telling him about the child. But the way Dex acted after just guessing and then after confirming it... He was all high and mighty, acted injured party, but not for a second he taught about his son. I mean he found out he have a son but what he did? He gone on another business trip, instead of starting to plan and to thing about his son's needs. All Dex cared about is him and his feelings. That he wouldn't be free to do whatever and whenever he wanted to do it. And Dex has the gall to be pissed and cruel at Casey because she didn't told him about the child when he acted like this after finding out? It's seems to me she made a right decision.
I wasn't sure what irritated me more. The way Dex acted or that after all his hurtful shit, Casey still dreamed about him and then she so easily let him in again, even though she didn't trusted him completely not to run again. Casey was weak and pathetic were Dex was concerned. She was a glutton for punishment.
I was not far away from throwing my kindle at the wall more then once. And considering what a precious it is to me it says something. So, by the time Dex and Casey ended up toghter, it was too late for me to enjoy theirs happiness and I just wanted to wrap it all quickly.

Wow, what an emotional roller coaster. I cried, I laughed and I wished for more. The book is told from both Casey and Dex's point of view so you are able to experience both their emotions and thoughts. Such a well written book with a good story line and great characters. Casey is Dex's sister's best friend and they meet when they go to her home for Christmas. Their attraction is immediate and she gives her virginity to him. Then they do not see each other for five years where they meet up at his sister's wedding. His only passion has been building the business he inherited from his parents. He discovers that he has a son with Casey and runs as he is unable to handle it emotionally. No spoiler here, but this is a great read. I received an arc copy and voluntarily chose to review this book.

There are not sufficient stars to give for this love story [with so much more] story about Dex and Casey. I'm not going to give spoilers nor repeat the blurb about this story - you can read the best resume up above this. What I must tell you about is how OI felt when I read this latest story by Mia Ford whose books I always love. In the Perfect Gift, Mia's wonderful style of writing is at it's very best. We hear so much about Casey's background that I felt as if I really "knew" her. We don't hear so much of Dex's history but there is enough to understand him pretty well.Casey is such a sweet young lady who wears her heart on her sleeve and is rather naive thinking that Dex was thinking on the same page as her. but Dex is "married" to his work and he breaks her heart. I felt so very sorry for Casey but Dex is completely oblivious of the harm that he has caused. I did feel as if he needed an emotional injection, at times, to appreciate how she was feeling. When five years later, he does the same thing I was ready to wring his neck. Little Seth was adorable and a real heart breaker just like his Dad! Dex and Casey both really needed each other in so many ways and were so much better and more complete when they were with one another. I hope my brief reasons why I loved the book, because I do, have encouraged you in some way to read this book as it is wonderful and, I believe, one of Mia's best stories yet! I give this book 5 stars. I whole heartedly recommend this book. The storyline between Casey and Dex started when her best friend Natalie asked if she could bring her brother Dex to Christmas Eve dinner. Dex and Casey hit it off and when they were alone he took her viginity and they made a baby. Little did Casey know it would be 5 years before she sees him again. This book was very well written. I voluntarily reviewed this Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

Okay, to be honest this was just a friggin funky book. I tried hard to follow the story and each time I thought I was getting there the author through in a twist. It was good, but I would have liked to read more about these characters.
The jumping around made my head spin.

It's August, it's hot, and I wanted to read a cool Christmas book. This was not the one. The only thing related to Christmas is Dex met and did Casey on Christmas Eve on her mother's couch while her mother took some food to a mission. That's it. She was a virgin and he didn't know it, she ends up pregnant, he disappears... Same song, different verse.

This book has some issues. The first thing is, it needs to go back to the editor. There are a few instances where words were mixed up and the sentence didn't make sense. Another issue was the age of Seth. He started out being five and ended up being four. Which is it? A good editor would have caught this. I found the characters to be one-dimensional and not interesting, I didn't care about them at all. There were four or five places where the book could have ended and didn't. I kept going because I was too close to the end to quit.

I don't want to go into the plot because there wasn't one. It was Casey and Dex getting it on every chance they had. It wasn't love. I didn't feel any of that. It was gratuitous, raunchy sex. I got bored with it and turned the pages until it was over. I like spice as well as the next girl, but it killed this book. Too much of a good thing is a bad thing.

I didn't find adventure in Caracas, either. I found that part to be the most annoying part of the book. I didn't see a point to it other than Dex was able to flex his billionaire muscle and buy his, Casey's, and Seth's way out of civil unrest. Good for him. I'm glad everybody made it out okay.

I'm sorry but this book just didn't cut it for me. I didn't enjoy it and probably won't read anything else by this author. But I think she's popular and I'm the odd man out. Many will love this. I just didn't.

There are two books in this Kindle edition. I am basing this review on the first one only. I'm so burned out on this, I don't want to read the next one.

Again I would have liked to have loved this book. I really do love secret baby stories. But not when you have a soft woman and a man that takes advantage of that women. OMG!  I loved this book.  Mia Ford has out done herself this time.  I really enjoy reading her books.  She doesn't just write a romance with a lot of sex, she writes an actual story.  This time she really took the story to new heights with action and thrills like you would not believe.

In this story Casey is a beautiful girl who lives with her mother.  Her father died years ago.  She is shy and reserved and has not dated alot.  Her best friend Natalie comes over for Christmas Eve one year and her brother Dex comes along.  When Natalie has to leave suddenly and Casey's mother has to go drop food at the mission, Dex and Casey get close.  She gives him the gift of her virginity, then he is gone.

Dex is a billionaire who is building his family's company.  He doesn't have time for a relationship.  He is married to his job.  He has been traveling for the past five years and now it is time to come home for his sister's wedding.  He is a little excited since it has been five years since his night with the sexy Casey and he has not been able to think of no one since.  He hopes that she is still available for a few weeks of fun before he has to go back to work again.

When Casey and Dex meet during the ceremony, she is still as beautiful and sexy as ever.  He still wants her.  But something seems off.  She seems like she still wants him and his sister confirms she is still single, so what could it be?  When Casey disappears during the ceremony and doesn't return he is upset.  His sister tells him to leave her be, that Casey wants someone who will be there and commit.

Dex knows he should listen to his sister, but like a jackass he can't.  He shows up on her doorstep and everything changes.  They have another night together and poof.  He disappears again.  Casey is done.  She can't keep opening her heart to him for him to keep breaking.  Will Dex return?  Will Casey be able to keep her secret and move on with her life?

This story has so much more than just a romantic playboy billionaire.  It has love, heart-break, deceit, and terrifying moments.  You will get angry, scared, sad and happy throughout the story. The characters are amazing and charismatic.  This is not your typical holiday love story.

I think this is one of Mia's best books yet.  It was like watching a thriller movie and you are grabbing on to the seat to scared to move.  You won't stop reading afraid you will miss what happens next.  I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I think you will too.

Having a hold on each other
This book is about Dex and Casey. Dex is the older brother of Casey’s best friend Natalie. They meet one Christmas Eve when Natalie has planned to have dinner with Casey and her Mum. Natalie invites Dex along too. He and Casey share an instant and undeniable attraction, and sparks fly between them. One thing leads to another on her couch, and a special bond is cemented that night.
Five years later, they meet again at Natalie’s and Brandon’s wedding. That magnetic attraction was still there from the first time they met, and they’re both seemingly willing to have another fling. Dex is married to his job, and is highly successful and travels a lot. He might be the quintessential bad-boy billionaire, so Casey resigns herself to the fact that it won’t mean much to him as he’s leaving soon anyway – but she’s willing to give it a ride anyway. That chemistry is still there when they’re together, and they find it difficult to stay away from each other. This is how he comes to meet Seth, but he doesn’t figure out who he is straight away.
There are lots of ups and downs, and many heart-breaking and heart-warming moments throughout. It was quite the emotional rollercoaster. I was angry, disappointed, elated, scared, relieved and upset. I laughed, sighed, cried and swooned.
These wonderful characters had steamy passion in a love story that stood the test of time, patience, surprise, misunderstanding, deceit, secrecy, betrayal, angst, civil unrest and danger overseas, understanding, forgiveness and true dedication and commitment. All of this for a go at a second chance… or was it third? Or was it fourth? It’s not an easy journey for them, but all the hurt endured by both of them, seems to have been worth it in the end. That common bond in their hearts really pulled at my heart strings.
While the ending was sweet and full of love, I felt like the story ended a bit too abruptly. I would’ve liked to see more, but I do recommend this read. I’ve enjoyed every book I’ve read written by this author, and this one is no different. She makes you fall in love with the characters, and feel a part of their love story – dramas and all! I give this book four and three quarter destined stars.

I voluntarily read an arc of this book for a fair and honest review. Christmas Eve five years ago Casey gave her virginity to Dex. She never realized when he left her that night it would be five years before she saw him again. He was her best friend's brother. During those five years Dex was busy growing the family business that had been left to him when his parents died. Now he was coming back to New York for his sister's wedding. He had never forgotten Casey. Dex was hoping for an encore of Christmas past with Casey but while happy to see him, she was somewhat subdued.
Casey and her friend never discussed the paternity of Casey's son Seth but Natalia knew he was her brother's child. But it was not her place to tell her brother and when her brother assured Natalia that he couldn't promise Casey more than a few weeks Natalia kept Casey's secret. When Dex showed up at Casey's mom's home unexpectedly Casey was torn about inviting him in. Seth took after Casey looks wise but his smile was all Dex. After an awkward few minutes, Dex had invited Casey out for dinner the next night then basically ran out of her home. He regretted the dinner invitation immediately so he promised he would distance himself from Casey. Just a fashion police moment here..black dress, black stockings NUDE heels? Close your eyes and visualize it...it's bad. I'm stopping my review right here. This book is too good to miss. I don't want to spoil it for you. It's a terrific read and definitely a keeper.

Mia Ford is one of my favorite authors. And this time she did not disappoint me. I though think this book is one of those where you are fascinated bu it or dislike it. I was caught from the first to last page and I like the story line and plot. There were some things that felt unreal but it is fiction. Though I think this story is so well written it sometimes feels like it could be a real life story. I like the writing style of the author and her use of the words.
The main characters are well described and develops well through the story. That it is written in dual POV only makes it a much better read because the reader gets to know the thoughts and feelings of the main characters.
This story has an emotional rollercoaster ride for you. It has laughs, sighs, cheering, ups and downs.
When Casey and Dex meets in a Christmas holiday they feel instant attraction and they are together and Dex gets to pop her cherry. They do not see each other for five years after that. They meet again at his sisters wedding. What happens? No spoilers here.
Dex has been passionate with his business and Casey has had her secrets.
This is a story of second chances and parenthood. It has a lot of aspects in it and I love this about it. It has love, deceit, heartbreak, second chance, passion, romance, angst and unsuspected twists.

I voluntarily read and am reviewing this Advance Reader's Copy. This was such an enjoyable read! Christmas Eve, a rich playboy and an innocent beauty, and I wild attraction make for an unexpected surprise.
Dex decides to go along with his sister to her best friend's for Christmas eve. There he meets Casey and he knows that he has to have her. He's shocked at what happens just from the brushing of hands. Left alone for a bit, they sleep together and it's fabulous. But he's not into commitment and he has his father's business to tend to. Five years later, he sees her again at his sister's wedding and the old zing is still there. He's thought of her off and on over the years and he wants to have another go. Casey's even more beautiful than he remembered. But she ghosts on him. He pursues her, interested in a fling before he goes back abroad for business. What he finds is that things have definitely changed for Casey. Dex has to eventually decide if he's going to put in the effort that Casey deserves in a relationship, or continue with his cut and run MO and lose what could be the best thing in his life.

The Perfect Gift is my first time reading Mia Ford and I have to say I love her writing. The characters were well developed. Having been a single parent myself I could relate whole heartedly with Casey. Ms. Ford did a wonderful job making Casey and her struggles both real and believable.

Perfect Gift is probably the best "My Best Friend's Brother" book I have read. The story was well written, it had all the feels, I laughed, I cried and I got pissed off at Dex but in the end I even loved him too. I couldn't figure out why a HEA came when I was only about 70% through the book. I was thrilled with the drama and action that occurred in the last third of the book. It wasn't something I'm used to happening in your typical romance book. I would love to see more of that happen earlier in the book sometime.

The book did end with the requisite HEA but I felt the ending was a bit rushed and could have been expanded a little. Needless to say I am now Fan-girling on Mia Ford and look forward to reading more of her works. Perfect Gift is well worth the time to read. I highly recommend it.

Great book - love Dex and Casey. Loved this book! This is about Dex and Casey. Dex typically works on Christmas Eve, but this year, he decided to spend it with his only sister, Natalie, who is younger than him; however, she already had plans with her best friend, Casey. Natalie calls Casey to make sure it is okay to bring Dex along as he has not met her or anything, so she agrees and Dex goes with her to the dinner. Dex is in love the moment he sees Casey. They end up hooking up as Casey’s mother leaves the house and Natalie gets a call to join a friend with front row tickets, so that leaves Dex and Casey alone.

The story moves five years forward to the upcoming nuptials of Natalie and Brandon. Dex of course is in town for that along with Casey as her best friend. The problem is that Dex has no clue that when he hooked up with Casey five years ago, he left her with a present that keeps on giving, a son, Seth. Dex figures something out on his own and when he confronts Casey, she is then afraid of him wanting to take him away. The story is great and leads into more than Dex planned on but was the perfect gift he could have asked for.

This a story that has heartbreak and love on levels that will surprise you. It all starts on Christmas Eve and stops for 5 years until Dex and Casey meet again. Casey was a virgin and Dex took it along with her heart and disappeared. When they meet again at his sister, Natalia's wedding Dex thinks he can just walk back into Casey's life for a couple days of fun and leave again but Casey had issues with him he knew nothing about. Dex is a man on a mission of building his family business once his parents pass away and never wanted a commitment from any one woman. Natalia knew Casey secret and knew she was doing the right thing by not letting on she knew but all good and bad secrets eventually come to light. Dex realizes there is something about Casey he can not just walk away from but when he goes to her home he sees she has a son he has an uneasy feeling. They do the hot and heavy sex and he leaves again out of fear only to return and cause an uproar. In the end can Casey and Dex figure out what they want? 5 years after their night together, they meet again at Dex's sister's wedding. It brings back all the memories and feelings back. He wants to pursue Casey again. Will it be enough for Casey?
Casey was a virgin when she met Dex and it brought most precious gift to her and now Dex is back. She is attracted to Dex again but with Seth she doesn't want to risk again but whenever he shows up she can't resist him. However, Dex doesn't do relationships and now Casey needs decide if she could reveal Seth to Dex.
Will Dex man up and be a father and companion Casey needs?
Story moved quickly but I wish there were little more of story between Casey and Dex to give more depth to the storyline. I would give 3 1/2 stars

He surprised her on Christmas 5 years later and went with her to her best friends house. The chemistry was immediate between Dex and Casey. They were left alone and their chemistry erupted. Dex walked away from Casey and didint’ get in touch with her. This story is filled with sexy scenes, surprises, emotion, fear, and love. Did Dex just forget about Casey? Did Casey forget Dex? Dex left a surprise for Casey? What was it? Read the book and find out all the answers. I couldn’t put the book down until I had read all of it.
Mia once again shows her talent and understanding of human nature in this book. Her characters are two dimensional and flow into the plot with ease. I received an ARC and I am leaving a voluntary review.

A sweet book that warm my heart, it's a perfect holiday read. It's not Christmas yet, but this book brings all the Christmas feels.
This is a bad boy billionaire romance with a secret baby.
This book is full of love and hotness that put a big smile on my face and it's also full of frustration that make me want to slap Dex and Casey. There's a lot of hotness too.

As for the characters, I like Dex and Casey, it's an insta-love from the beginning, although I found it hard to feel their connection, everything is happening too fast and it's a bit bothering me that every time they need to discuss or talk or fix some problems, they ended up getting tangled in the bed. The lust is concealing all the love. But still I enjoy reading it and I devoured in a short time.

So overall, I like the story and all that warm Christmas feels.

If you're looking for a bad boy billionaire romance or a secret baby romance, you must try this one.

Awesome contemporary billionaire romance. Dex has worked hard to maintain and build his empire. He very seldom took time out since his parents death. Suddenly, at Christmas his sister invites him to her best friends house. There Dex meets his sister's best friend Casey. Casey wanted to continue school but knew her mother needed her financial help more so she let school go. Late after dinner Red and Casey have a romantic interlude then Sex is gone. Almost 5 years later he meets Casey again only be feels she's holding something back and she leaves before they get hot and heavy again. Dad and Casey can't stop thinking about each other when they 're-meet at Nicole's wedding. From there things get complicated and there's strife, disallusionment, fear and love. The author brought the characters alive. The story took place around the holidays. I received a complementary copy of this book and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by Ms. Ford.

It's OK--Possible Spoilers

The story started off well. I liked Casey and Dex together. I liked how their story unfolded and how they came together as a family... although there was no mention of how their son, Seth, reacted to the news that his father was suddenly in his life. At 4 to 5 years old, he was old enough to realize his dad hadn't been there, so how did they explain Dex coming into his life? Details matter.

The last 3 or 4 chapters with the trip to Caracas were just... unnecessary. It was 3-1/2 chapters of Dex saying "I never should have brought them here...If anything happens to them, I'll never forgive myself and my life will be over," and Casey saying "I never should have brought Seth here...I just didn't want to be away from Dex... what if something happens to Dex"? It didn't seem to fit to me and it made this longer than it needed to be.

I'd say this book was not bad...had I stopped reading at the end of their honeymoon.

This was a true love story that withstood the 5 years apart. Casey is friend with Natalie from college. Casey invites Natalie over for Christmas Eve dinner. Natalie asks to bring her brother Dex and she agrees. Casey has never seen Dex before that night and it’s love at first sight for her. Dex has business away for 5 years but comes back for Natalie’s wedding. Dex sees Casey and wants her again. Dex doesn’t know she was pregnant with his child until he visits her home again and meets Seth their son. Casey doesn’t tell him at first that Seth is his son but Dex starts to figure it out. They go away for a honeymoon but he gets called away and he decides to take Casey and Seth. This business trip doesn’t turn out very well for them until they get away to somewhere else that is quite. Great story was not expecting the business trip from hell in the story.

Dex and Casey meet at Christmas when his sister invites him to join her For Christmas Eve at her best friend from college house. Casey is shy and inexperienced. Dex is a playboy charmer who has no desire to settle down. Dex and Casey hit it off and The three drink and play games until Dex’s sister gets invited out and the two tell her to go. With Casey’s mom out bringing food to the shelter, the two end up having a one night stand. Of course being her first time Casey never thought she could get pregnant. She decides not to tell Dex since her left for Asia the next day and she didn’t hear from him again. 5 years later he’s back and shows up at her house. This starts a back and forth between them with her secret Being a big problem. The book doesn’t end when you expect there is a whole mini story filled with drama at the end.
