Want to conquer soulish laziness? Eat spiritual meat. Chew over the war between Elijah and Jezebel as you, an Ahab flunkie, decide where your allegiance belongs. These are readings with a punch. It's the 9th Century BC. The future of a people is uncertain. The king inherits the unstable throne of an apostate nation. Will he listen to the whispers of his royal witch and lead them further under judgment’s dark clouds? Or, will he hear the words of the rugged prophet from Gilead and lead his backslidden people in repentance, revival, and reformation? Elijah Men Eat Meat is a collection of short readings on Ahab, Elijah, and Jezebel. It's spiritual protein to those who seek to lead themselves and others in the paths of the prophets and turn from the whispers of the witch. A great Christian men's devotional. 'Joshua Jones writes with the same spirit as some of the great prophetic voices of the last David Wilkerson, Leonard Ravenhill, Keith Green etc. Yet the subjects he speaks into are timely for the Church of this century.' -Evangelist Andrew Murray, www.generationbuilders.org 'Honestly, it has been a long time since I read such a firecracker of a book.' -Rev Dr Jules Gomes, Faculty member for the Oxford Centre for Religion and Public Life 'This book is essential reading for anyone who is serious about putting on some spiritual muscle, isn’t afraid of confronting our culture’s sacred cows and who wants to walk worthy of the high call in Christ Jesus. Chew and savour slowly.' -Dominic Muir, Author of God Hunger Founder of David’s Tent and NowBeleive.Com 'I personally find the book irresistibly enlightening. I have no doubt others will find the same. Buy it in quantity and give them away!' -Dr Alan C. Clifford, Pastor Norwich Reformed Church 'I highly recommend Elijah Men as a powerful book to keep us sharp and shake the slack out of us. It is mature meat for an Elijah generation packaged in small, short chapters. Great for up and coming preachers or any disciple of Christ.' -Pastor Colin Houston, Belfast Director of Trumpeters Voice Foundation
I was recommended this book by a good friend and I loved it.
This is a book that compares our culture to that of the days of Elijha, The warfare is still the same the enemy is the same, just culture that's different. This is about us as individuals and the Church as in the body of Christ not the affiliations that goes by the name
I found it challenging exciting and confirmation of some of the things I've been believing for a while which is always encouraging. Each chapter is a separate devotion that needs to be read thought on before reading the next one. That's how I found it to be for me.
So like my Friend I want to highly recommend this as well. Its an obvious 5 star in my books.
A sharp, witty review of Elijah and his influence on the world at that time, pointing helpfully to victory. Short chapters quicken the pace. I recommend.
