Haunted. Cursed. Helpless. Life is dangerous this close to the Door to Hell.
Half insane after the death of his wife and daughter, Rahym runs a lodge near the Door to Hell. With a sector curse that causes anyone to collapse into Hibernation after four hours of exertion, a stay at the lodge is the only way for people to cross the Karakum Desert without falling victim to fire or demonlings.
Then Nakir, an old friend and the angel leading the rebel group known as Halos, appears with a plan to break the curse. He’s brought Rahym’s childhood love Jennet whose special witch powers may be to be the tipping point the resistance needs to win.
But first, they’ll have to brave Hell itself.
They just need Rahym to show them the way. He’ll have to decide if he’s willing to risk his life for a cause he once believed in. Or if there’s even enough left of the world worth saving.

Extremely thrilling, action packed, emotionally engaging and highly entertaining fight to save the world by surviving a trip through hell literately.
Rahym is half insane after the loss of his family and guarding travelers at the door to hell to pass the time. He never expects to be called upon after so long to help a group of Rebels lead by an old friend and angel Nakir let alone see his childhood love Jennet. They believe with Jannets new powers they can break the curse and save the world but Rahym is not so sure about that is left to save. An epic adventure filled with passion, bravery, love and determination.
This is the first book I’ve read by Ms.Hayes, and I’ve read several by Ms. Hamilton. Rahym is just living day to day since his family died; living next the Door to Hell isn’t easy especially when people only have enough energy to stay awake for 4 hours before falling into Hibernation. This is the curse they all have to live with since the Door to Hell appeared. When an old friend/enemy comes to his inn with an old love, Rahym becomes willing to do anything to break the curse, even give up his life. Here I go again, reading dystopian when I’m not really a big fan. However, this book dealt with it in a way that I liked. In fact, the book was well-written all around. Another thing I found interesting was that the book was from the male point of view and as such found Rahym a very interesting character. Even though Rahym was my favorite character, I did like the other characters, but I did find Rahym to be the most fleshed out. I also loved the interesting and unique plot point of Hibernation; I love when there are very different things in books and the ways the characters need to work around them. In short, I really did love this book and had a hard time putting it down, but I do have to warn people it was a tiny bit dark. Highly recommend!
The sector is cursed and everyone falls into a Hibernation after just 4 hours of exertion. Rahym runs a lodge so people can rest near to the Door to Hell before they cross the Karakum Desert - otherwise they run the risk of being caught by the fire that suddenly appears or the demonlings that enjoy killing people. He is also half insane after his wife and daughter were killed by fire and hears voices/talks to himself. Then Nakir, old friend and angel in charge of the Halos rebel group appears at his door with a new plan to break the curse. With Nakir is Jennet - friend from Rahym's childhood who disappeared and now seems to be both alive and in possession of witch powers which is being seen as the difference in this attempt at the curse. Can Rahym bring himself to do one more trip into Hell and show them the way?
Wow - an epic tale of bravery, determination, love, loss and passion. The story was very well told, everything was well described and the emotions and feelings were clear and easy to pick up and feel. I love the work of these two authors but the combination of the two was exponentially better and was addictive.
A hellish land, fraught with wildfires and demonlings, rendered almost completely inhospitable when the demon realm and the earth realm collided, both fracturing and melding each into one realm. Humanity is losing the battle; a fallen angel, a coven of witches and one broken man answer the call for salvation. Rayhm is a man with a shattered soul; his wife and child lost to him three years prior, it’s all Rayhm can do to get through each day. Only four hours of energy allotted to him and all humanity, due to the “curse” that melded the realms, Rayhm is the innkeeper; the innkeeper at the Door to Hell. He offers a safe place for weary travelers to rest, even though he himself is unable to rest…. Nakir is the fallen angel that appears; once again asking Rayhm to guide Nakir and his band of motely humans and witches to the Door of Hell, where Nakir will attempt to break the curse that keeps them all bound to this hellish realm. Among Nakir’s band is Jennet, Rayhm’s first love.
Can Rayhm find the inner strength to face his past, let go of the pain, and be the savior the world needs, or will he fail; plunging the world into eternal pain and torment?
Fallen Halos is a paranormal/fantasy with just a hint of romance. Full of sympathetic characters and a harsh setting, Fallen Halos unfolds in a magically compelling story of sacrifice, hope, and redemption. Ramyn is a broken man, a widower who watched his wife and daughter fall at the hands of the demonlings. Running a lodge on the edge of the Door to Hell, he survives day to day by crossing items off his to do list. A fallen angel from his past shows up with a new band of followers determined to end the curse that causes their hibernation everyday. He joins the suicide mission to find and kill the Demon Lord rife with danger and very little hope. While riding toward death, Ramyn finally discovers something to live for. His childhood sweetheart may just hold the key to winning the battle. A fast paced story full of loss and hope, Fallen Halos kept me on the edge of my seat as the story just gets better and an ending that kept me guessing if a HEA was even possible. My voluntary review is based upon a review copy.
Book Review by Stephanie FOR Fallen Halos: Watchtower 1 (Cursed Angel Collection) by Erin Hayes and Rebecca Hamilton.
“Haunted. Cursed. Helpless. Life is dangerous this close to the Door to Hell.”
This Dystopian Paranormal Fantasy reminded me of Stephen King’s Dark Tower books in a way. The pace fluid; full of suspense and mystery. The characters courageous and willing to fight against unbeatable odds. The authors exemplified each characters personality traits and they became more intriguing as the story progressed.
A snippet from the book to whet your appetite:
“Good,” I say with a curt nod. Now you just have to fly to the Watchtower to do the deed. Because,” and I point to him to emphasize my point, “you're saying that I know the Door to Hell better than anyone. Well let me tell you that there's at least forty miles of uncontrollable Hell between here and the Watchtower. It's all desert. No water. No food. Nothing more than maybe some bugs you can eat, I guess, if you get hungry enough. I can recommend a few beetles to you.”
This is my first novel by New York Times Bestselling Authors Erin Hayes and Rebecca Hamilton. I must say, not disappointed at all!
Cursed and broken but in this world who isn't. Our lives are governed by a curse that makes us go into hibernation. I have watched all that I love die until the one I thought I lost reappears. He was my heart since I was a child and now I have found him again. They are part of a merry (yeah right) group that are the latest chance to break the curse. This is an action packed read emotionally charged with loss, love found, lives changed and maybe just maybe a curse broken and humanity saved.
This author continues to amaze me with books that hold your attention from page one all the way to the end. I don't know how she does it but I sure love being on the receiving end by reading her books. Great stuff, fun read and wonderful characters.
What would it be like to only have energy for 4 hours out of the day? To have to conserve energy just to do the most menial of tasks? To be cursed into a hibernation state when you run out of energy and at midnight your energy resets? This book is unique. It's a fight between heaven and hell. Between humanity and demons. I loved it!
I loved the story of a cursed land and the brave souls that decide to try to end the curse. The fallen angel, the innkeeper, a few witches, and some desperate survivors take on a demon and a curse that is designed to keep them from breaking it. I couldn't stop reading it!
I really enjoyed reading this book. It lays out an entire territory that is guaranteed to be new to you as a fan of fantasy and the battles between angels & demons. You will get to know a great cast of characters in this book, and share in their life & death struggles along the way.
This is the start of a new world and boy let me say wow the plot for this book kept me pulled in. Kind of makes ya wonder just how we would live if we put ourselves in the place of the characters. I can not wait to see what is in store for the rest of the books in this set
This story is not full of romance (still there will be love story). It's packed with some major action twists that kept me on the edge most of the time! Really good read paranormal/fantasy/romance mix.
Rahym Tezel is our lead hero in this installment in the Cursed Angel collection.
Nakir is a fallen angel and Jennet a witch. They travel through the Door to Hell in hopes of lifting the curse. This world is wonderfully constructed and such a fasinating plot! I honestly couldn't put it down.
This book was fantastic, the characters are developed in a way that sucks you in. It’s emotional, action packed, and bordering the lines of sanity. Rayhm has experienced more despair than individual should, and bring a new level of emotions to the book. I loved it and want more.
This is the first Erin's book I have read and I loved it. It was hard at the beginning but I'm glad I keep going because it is totally worth it. Can't wait to see what the next book will hold.
This book was outstanding. I simply couldn’t put it down. I loved the premise of the Door of Hell and the exertion curse. I will definitely read more book from these authors.
