Having survived Atlantis, the town of Indian Hill beckons. As Mike and Trip make their way toward Indian Hill and are in search of some much needed answers, Jack is fast on their heels. It is a dangerous journey fraught with all manner of creatures. Zombies, Night Runners and the Alien Whistlers do their best to prevent the trio from ever going home again. The Whistlers are constantly roaming the wilds in search of food, the zombies gathered in large groups, and the night runners own the night. Will they survive the nightmarish beasts only to be shredded by time itself? Trip may have some knowledge that could help but extracting it from him is proving exceedingly difficult. Mike’s memories are being tattered and Jack’s soul is tortured as he makes one final desperate bid to get back to his family. Time is truly running out, will the group manage to get back to their original worlds before this one folds into nothingness?
Classic Tufo style, classic Talbot comedy. So grab your Fritos and your rifle and prepare to be bounced around the interdimensional pinball machine of horrors.
Aside from the absolute madness that has become the premise for the Shrouded World duo series, Tufo's parts are among the most humorous to date. The combination of Mike Talbot and John the Tripper never gets old, or predictable. Still one of the most original characters I have come across. Trip is the lovable old interdimensional archangel hippie who never ceases to amaze and surprise you. And while he's slipping back and forth between the man who can see across spacetime and the man who uses his belly as a flashlight after eating bioluminescent mushrooms, the world Mike and Jack have found themselves thrust into is tearing apart at the dimensional seams.
This installment follows the trio as they continue to find a way back home from this convergent hell, where the zombies from Mike's world have arrived along with the nightrunners from Jacks, and as if it weren't enough, the whistlers from this world seem to be the ones orchestrating it all........ at least it seems that way, for now.
There are a few scenes, in particular and above many great ones, that were really interesting. The part where they meet the former addict who was saved and set up for a certain time and reason was really crazy. Gonna have to find out why for yourself, though. And it's not just the personal pot farm that stands out, although it's pretty funny.
Well this is not what I expected at all...full of twists and turns and more hand in hand with the ZF series then the previous books....we can see things crashing together and Trip is the King of it all...lots of funny stuff in this book...and Jack....what is to happen with Jack? I see another book in series coming...lol I cant wait!! Very entertaining listen!!!
I have only listened to this once. I enjoy this series. It is a departure from Zombie Fallout [my favorite by Mark Tufo]. This world is thoroughly screwed up and the amount of weirdness keeps me coming back. Trip, Jack and Mike are a great team. The monsters that inhabit the world are truly the stuff of nightmares.
Wow this book was through the roof. The action was nonstop! Questions were answered, but the adventure is not done yet. Mark Tufo and John O'Brien are two of my favorite authors and boy what a great storyline they are developing! No spoilers here, read the book! I am excited for the next one! Loved the part where Jack found the two series of books and John O'Brien used his own character to poke fun at his series...great job, please don't make us wait too long!
Mike, Jack and Trip continue their fight to return to their own worlds but it's not going well. Trip is the glue that holds this series together, his insanity and crazy actions veer between the sublime and the ridiculous. Mike is his usual confused self and jack is the seriously hacked off element. Fighting three different factions guarantees plenty of bloodshed and action. As exciting a read as always from these two authors.
This is the third in the series, and it doesn't disappoint. The world's and depth that John O'Brien and Mark Tufo write is great. The way that they keep the flow going thru the book makes it a fun read. I am amazed at the different realities that these characters love thru is amazing. I am looking forward to the next in the series. I wonder where Jack, Mike and Trip will find themselves next.
Hello, this series is probably one of my favorites. The main reason being the constant interaction between Ponch and Trip. You would really need to read all of Talbot's adventures to understand all of the dialogue, but if you're a fan then you'll get it. Damn fine stuff. Thanks.
Perfect horror. The three characters’ diverse personalities and their interactions, had me burst out laughing during the most unexpected times. A well written story, an excellent series. A Must Read
Wow. My mind is blown. These books have made me see Trip in a new way. A much much sadder way. Great trilogy ...waiting eagerly for more. Bleeping phritos. Gag!
I have to say that the two of these authors are my absolute favorite. I am a sci-fi, horror, apocalyptic, dystopian addict. I believe I've read almost all of their works. I feel as if I actually know his characters and their families. It takes gifted writer to make me feel this emotion. So give yourself a gift and read anything written by Tufo and O'Brien, I felt like it was, and now I am going to read the last of this saga. I hope that they keep collaborating and their characters keep crossing paths and journeys.
Because all I am going to say is that these two guys writing together is an awesome thing. You know how male ballroom dancers exist solely to make their partners look even better? Mission accomplished gentlemen!
This was the first real road bump in the series for me . A lot of cool info on how the multiverse is seizing up and some cool stuff on alternate Mike and Jack, but again.. the Jack parts are kind of dry and.... skippable.
I feel this series was a hot mess. Finished the last book and it still left me wondering what I just read. I love the night runner series and have read them all but this? Disappointing.
Trip really makes the story fun and bridges the back and forth between Mike and Jack flow. The audio part is also done very well. There were a few times I thought the story dragged but overall it was great. On to the next book....
So after a few more books, I have decided the Jack character bores me. So I guess I won't be adding his series to my to-read list. Mike though.....Mike's a keeper. His chapters keep the story alive for me.
In my opinion, the first two books in this series were a bit slow. I am so glad I stuck with it because this one really turned a corner! Super suspenseful, a lot of action, good character growth, and the story is really moving.
