Actress Ginny Jones knows all too well that sometimes her mouth moves faster than her brain. Case in badmouthing a beloved cinema icon on tape, a recording which was then leaked worldwide. Her costar Jack dropped her flat, along with her agent and so-called friends, leaving her in a career free-fall. It’s taken her six months to scrape her self-respect back together and get another chance—a no-budget indie flick filming in the middle of nowhere. Then, to her shock, Jack shows up on a mission to make amends…and he’s got a sexy new Brit in his entourage. A Brit who makes Ginny feel alive for the first time since the scandal broke. Jude knows he shouldn’t have let Ginny assume he was Jack’s new bodyguard, but how can he tell the girl whose career he helped ruin that he’s actually the tabloid reporter who first released the now-infamous Tape? He’d thought Ginny was nothing more than a shallow starlet who needed to be knocked down a few pegs, but the more he gets to know her, the guiltier he feels…. and the more he falls for her. Making movies—like spinning tabloid stories—may be all about illusion, but nothing’s felt more real to Jude than what he’s experiencing with Ginny. Still, can she ever forgive him when the lights come up on his deception?
Contemporary romance author Lizzie Shane was born in Alaska and still calls the frozen north home, though she can frequently be found indulging her travel addiction. Thankfully, her laptop travels with her and she has written her way through all fifty states and over fifty countries.
Lizzie has been honored to win the Golden Heart Award and HOLT Medallion, and has been named a finalist three times for Romance Writers of America’s prestigious RITA Award®, but her main claim to fame is that she lost on Jeopardy!
Forgetting Jack Cooper: The Starlet Edition shows what happens when those you trust betray you and that forgiveness is possible. Ginny makes the mistake of speaking her mind about a costar to someone she thought she could trust. Jude takes the revelation and announces it to the world. One would not think this is a solid foundation for true love, but somehow they make it work. More than anything it shows them who you can trust and that sometimes you have to slog through the bad to really figure out who you want to be when you grow up. I really enjoyed this novella. It is a perfect fit with the others and I can’t wait to finish the series.
Very enjoyable cute read. Jack Cooper's apology tour continues as he faces an actress who he dumped after she has a moment of bad temper is caught on tape and leaked to the world. Her career basically implodes after the incident. Too bad she finds herself wildly attracted to the jerk that leaked the story!!
This is a fun quick read and I definitely recommend it.
Forgetting Jack Cooper: the Starlet Edition by Lizzie Shane
Wow! This series has helped me get to know a few new writers. Lizzie Shane is another author I never read but I can guarantee you I will read more of her books. She has proven to be a great writer and I really loved this story.
In the Starlet Edition we meet Ginny Jones. Ginny Jones is an actress who made the mistake of bad mouthing a co star Dame Agatha. When the incident is exposed it ruins Ginny's career. Fast forward 6 months and Ginny is trying to bounce back. Enter Jack Cooper who seeks forgiveness for abandoning her when she needed him the most. Jack and Ginny were friends and co stars and one time. Enter Jude a reporter Ginny mistakes for a bodyguard of Jacks. Jude is the reporter responsible for exposing Ginny.
This was an amazing story and truly was about forgiveness and redemption and finding love. This was more of a Jude redemption and forgiveness than a Jack forgiveness. I must say I thoroughly enjoyed the Dame Agatha character. I did think Jack was a bit of a jerk in this book. However I loved the book. Amazing writing and plot is fabulous and steady. I loved everything about this story. Lizzie Shane is an amazing writer.
I give Forgetting Jack Cooper: The Starlet Edition by Lizzie Shane four stars. This series should be read on order and all together because if you read the last book first you are going to know what happens and all the other books.
Ginny Jones was a well known actress until she vented to the wrong person and her vent of calling a well known and well liked Actress a bitch went viral. All of a sudden Ginny finds herself blacklisted and the only acting job she could find was in a small town in the middle of nowhere, acting in an indie film.
Jude Law is a tabloid report who was the one who released the tape of Ginny's vent. Jude really dislikes his career and has been double guessing everything. When Jack Cooper calls Jude to come to a little town in the middle of nowhere to get an interview he starts wondering what is going on. up on his deception?
Ginny is confused when Jack shows up on set, and then agrees to do what he wants her too hoping it will help her career. Then she sees Jude and the Chemistry is immediate, think he was a body guard she starts flirting. What happens when they figure everything out? You have to read the book to find out.
This series is called Forgetting Jack Cooper but this book is all about Ginny and Jude. If fact, Jack’s kind of a jerk! Ginny is languishing in Hollywood jail, staring in a very low budget indie movie after a recording came out of her saying some unkind things about a member of Hollywood royalty. Side bar...if they made this a movie, Helen Miriam would make a fabulous Dame Agatha 😉. Jude had his hand in this unfortunate incident, but comes for the ride on the Jack Cooper redemption train. He figures out quickly that one slip of the tongue does not paint a complete picture of someone. I loved feisty, apologetic Ginny and Jude quite a bit. Even though it was a short read, time-wise, it felt like a longer novel. Not an easy thing to do in novella form, but Lizzie Shane did it with humor and warmth. I’m looking forward to the rest of the series.
I received an ARC, for which I volunteered to leave an honest review. Here it is!
This story is part of the series that about actor Jack Cooper’s research for a new part. A part about a man seeking redemption . Jack feels that in order to play the role well, he needs to find his own redemption for things and people he has wronged. In this novella, he seeks redemption for the way he treated actress Ginny Jones. But it’s really reporter Jude who had a hand in her dismiss. I found the story to be ok, but not memorable. I was gifted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own
I loved this installment of Jack Cooper's saga, again in this book Jack plays a bigger part and shows another side of himself, but this book is not about him, its about Ginny and Jude.
Jude tags along with Jack to write a news story in a "rag magazine" about Jack's redemption tour and ends up falling for Ginny and Ginny for Jude, but Jude has concealed who he really is from Ginny and just when things have started to heat up all secrets are revealed and Ginny's world comes crashing down, will Jack and Jude be able to make things right again or is it too late?
Lesson learned – don’t bad-mouth a cinematic icon if you want to work in the movie industry. Ginny did, and now she can only find work on a low-budget indie film, when before she was working with Jack Cooper! Jude feels guilty, because he’s the one that leaked the tape. And now he’s fallen for Ginny. How can he gain her forgiveness and help clear her name? And why is Jack Cooper here trying to make amends?
Lizzie Shane answers these questions and more in this fun story about the craziness that is Hollywood. A fast read, worth the time. Enjoy!
This is Lizzie Shane's contribution to the multi author series Forgetting Jack Cooper. Ginny is trying to recover from comments she made about a beloved actress that came close to ruining her own acting career. But it's not until Jack is on his apology tour when the details of what really happened come out. Jude and Ginny are really drawn to each other, they've both made mistakes and with the help of others they are able to overcome the mistakes of the past. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
This book shows you what forgiveness is about. It also shows you how even though you can hurt someone close to you the friendship is still there. Ginny learned this the hard way by saying something stupid. She thought she lost everything, however the person who revealed what she did is the person who will help her in the end.
This was a great book. It shows you how learning to forgive and to allow yourself to ask for forgiveness really opens doors.
** I received this book in exchange for an honest review**
Ginny made the mistake of saying something quite unkind about one of her costars. Unfortunately it was recorded and sold to a tabloid, and when it was publicized, she was essentially black listed in the industry.
Jude deeply regrets releasing that recording, but he thought he was simply defending his beloved aunt.
Lizzie Shane’s story reveals how difficult it is to navigate the expectations of the public and how what we see is not always what things actually are.
This story was definitely a redemption story and not just for Jack Cooper. Jude had wronged Ginny and found out that he was oh so wrong to do so! He knew he also had to make it right! Ginny realized how he was involved in the downfall of her life! What followed was both having to listen to what the other had to say to move forward! Another great edition in this series!
I received an advance reader copy in exchange for my honest review!
As Jack Cooper continues his apology tour, he reconnects with Ginny, his co-star that he abandoned when her career was wrecked by scandal. He drags Jude, a gossip magazine reporter along to document everything.
I love following along with Jack as he makes amends with his past! Ginny and Jude had an amazing connection. I loved Ginny's strength and perseverance. Such a great series!
Forgetting Jack Cooper: The Starlet Edition is the fourth book in the Forgetting Jack Cooper multi-author series. Ginny regrets what she said and that it was blasted to the world. But she's blaming the wrong person. Jack goes for redemption and sets her straight. Jude is to blame, but somehow Ginny just can't be angry with him. Their chemistry is strong. I enjoyed Ginny and Jude's story.
5 STARLET EDITION STARS!! This was a fun enjoyable story in the Forgetting Jack Cooper series written by multiple authors. I really enjoyed seeing the story play out for Jude and Ginny. I highly recommend this book, it was so fun to escape a bad day. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Wonderful story about actions and consequences and redemption. I love the idea of Jack Cooper’s tour unifying a variety of authors ‘ stories. Terrific characters and an honest look at the consequences of our actions—intentional and unintentional.
I really enjoyed the story symmetry between Jack seeking forgiveness of Ginny, and Ginny needing to seek forgiveness of Dame Agatha in turn. I also enjoyed the fact that we see Jude realise he needs to find his own redemption along the way.
A short, touching read, and delivers a HEA to enjoy.
I really enjoyed this book. It’s a very sweet story about Ginny Jones, an actress who made a terrible mistake as she was getting her first big break and pretty much wrecked her career. Months later she has gotten a part in a movie that may not been seen by anyone but she’s grateful to be working. The other half of this ‘couple’ is Jude Law. In a classic misunderstanding Ginny thinks he is someone other than the journalist who tanked her career. Their story is very entertaining and enjoyable. Lizzie Shane has done it again.
Jack Cooper is preparing for a role about forgiveness and the publicist decides Jack should go on a forgiveness tour to right his wrongs. One of the stops is to Ginny Jones. Ginny was recorded saying something nasty about a legendary star. This destroys her upward climb, and Jack deserts her during her time of need. Part of the tour is being recorded by the journalist who destroys her career Jude. The story brings you into all the feelings of the characters and makes you want to improve you way of looking at everything. This will keep you involved from the beginning until the end and waiting for the next book. I was gifted this book. I voluntarily give my review. This is my honest review.
